The gate: Australian Fit 5/5 clears it, so five stars are permitted.
Skip to the verdictPricing figures re-read on the live Australian pricing page on 21 September 2026. Pipedrive quotes Australian visitors in Australian dollars, so the figures below are the vendor's own AUD prices — not conversions, and there is no exchange rate to cite. They are tax-exclusive; see the GST note under the table.
Earlier editions of this review: 3 Jun 2026 — 20/25. This is edition 2, dated 21 Sep 2026. We keep every edition so you can see how the tool and our verdict have moved — how and why.
Verdict (TL;DR): Pipedrive is a sales CRM built around one idea — a visual deal pipeline you drag cards across — and it does that one idea better than the bloated suites it competes with. The AI layer is now baked into every plan: an AI Sales Assistant that flags which deals need attention and surfaces win patterns, plus AI tools that write and summarise sales emails from the Growth plan up. For Australian teams the news that matters is that Pipedrive hosts Asia-Pacific accounts in an AU (Sydney) AWS region and answers live chat in English 24/7 — two things most US CRMs can't claim. It also quotes Australians in Australian dollars — AU$19 to AU$109 per seat per month on annual billing — so there's no exchange-rate exposure at renewal. The catch: there's no free tier, only a 14-day trial, and monthly billing costs up to 79% more than annual. For a small-to-mid Australian sales team that wants a CRM their reps will actually use, it's an easy shortlist pick.

What Pipedrive is
Pipedrive is a sales-focused CRM — software that tracks your leads, deals and customers so nothing falls through the cracks. Its whole design centres on the pipeline: a board of columns (stages) with deals as cards you drag from "Lead in" to "Deal won." That sounds simple, and that's the point. Where Salesforce and HubSpot try to be everything to everyone, Pipedrive picks a lane — closing deals — and stays in it.
Around the pipeline sit the tools a sales team needs day to day: contact and deal management, email sync, activity reminders, workflow automation, reporting and forecasting, a meeting scheduler, and e-signatures and documents on the higher plans. It runs in the browser and as native iPhone and Android apps, so reps can update deals from a car park between meetings.
The company is Estonian-founded, now US-headquartered, and sells in more than 175 countries. Over the past year it has pushed AI into the core product rather than bolting it on as a separate upsell — every current plan badge reads "Now with AI."
The AI features, and what they actually do
Pipedrive's AI comes in two parts.
The first is the AI Sales Assistant — a panel that reads your pipeline and tells you where to look. It flags deals that have gone quiet, predicts which are likely to close, surfaces patterns across won and lost deals, and offers performance tips and feature nudges. Think of it less as a chatbot and more as a sales manager glancing over your shoulder and saying "this one's stalled, chase it." It's included on every plan, including entry-level Lite.
The second is the AI email layer: an AI email writer that drafts sales emails from a short prompt, and an AI email summariser that compresses a long thread into a one-line read. These unlock on the Growth plan and up — not on Lite. There's also AI-assisted report creation, which Pipedrive includes across all tiers.
This is a sensible split. The assistant earns its keep by pointing reps at the right deal; the email tools save the ten minutes a day everyone loses writing follow-ups. Neither is a breakthrough, and neither tries to be — they're competent, well-placed time-savers rather than headline acts.
What it costs in Australia
Pipedrive quotes Australian visitors in Australian dollars. Its own knowledge base says location determines billing currency, and from an Australian IP the pricing page serves AU$ throughout. The figures below are tax-exclusive — the page's only tax note covers EU VAT — so an Australian buyer should expect GST handled at checkout rather than baked into the sticker price. There is no free tier; you get a 14-day trial, then you pay.
| Plan | AUD per seat/month, billed annually | Billed monthly | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | AU$19 (one payment of AU$228/yr) | AU$34 | Pipeline and deal management, contacts, email integration, the AI Sales Assistant, mobile apps |
| Growth | AU$49 (AU$588/yr) | AU$69 | Adds full email sync, automations and nurture sequences, the AI email writer and summariser, scheduler, business-hours live chat |
| Premium (most popular) | AU$79 (AU$948/yr) | AU$109 | Adds lead routing, forecasting, contracts and e-signatures, Smart Docs, projects, deeper customisation |
| Ultimate | AU$109 (AU$1,308/yr) | AU$139 | Adds the full suite — maximum customisation, advanced security and admin, priority support |
| Add-ons | LeadBooster from A$32.50 · Projects from A$16 · Campaigns from A$13.33 | — | Priced separately on top of any plan |
Read on pipedrive.com/en/pricing in a browser from an Australian IP on 21 September 2026. These are the vendor's own AUD figures, not conversions, and no price on the page is struck through. Annual billing saves up to 44% against monthly. On GST: the page's only tax statement is that prices are VAT-exclusive and VAT is billed to EU customers — it says nothing about Australian GST, so confirm the GST line at checkout before assuming your invoice is BAS-compliant. Wayback: capture pending (archive.org unavailable 21 Sep 2026).
Value verdict: Lite at AU$19 is fair for a single-pipeline CRM with the AI assistant included, but most teams will want Growth — the AI email tools and automations live there, and that's the tier where Pipedrive starts doing real work. Premium is the one most sales teams settle on once they need forecasting and e-signatures. Being quoted in Australian dollars matters more than it sounds: the number on the page is the number you budget, and it doesn't move with the exchange rate between renewals. The honest mark against value is the absence of a free tier (HubSpot has one), which makes Pipedrive a commitment from day one — and the gap between annual and monthly, which is steep enough that paying monthly costs you nearly 80% more on Lite.
How it works in practice
Setup is quick. You define your pipeline stages, import contacts from a spreadsheet or another CRM, connect your email, and start dragging deals across the board. The learning curve is the gentlest in the category — a non-technical sales rep is productive in an afternoon, which is the whole reason teams pick Pipedrive over heavier rivals their staff quietly refuse to use.
In daily use, the pipeline view is the hero: you see every open deal, what stage it's at, and what's overdue, in one glance. The AI Sales Assistant rides alongside, nudging you toward the deals that need a call. Automations handle the busywork — send this email when a deal moves stage, create this task when a lead comes in. Reporting and forecasting are solid for a team of this size, though analysts at a large enterprise will find them shallower than Salesforce.
The weak spots are the edges, not the core. Marketing automation is thin and mostly sold as paid add-ons; phone support is reserved for higher plans; and very large or heavily customised operations will eventually hit the ceiling of a tool that was deliberately built to stay simple.
What it does well
- The pipeline is the best in the category. Drag-and-drop deal management that reps actually use, not avoid. Simplicity is the feature.
- It hosts Australian data in Sydney. Asia-Pacific sign-ups are primarily hosted in Pipedrive's AU (Sydney) AWS region — a genuine rarity among US CRMs and a real answer to "where does our data live?"
- 24/7 English live chat. Round-the-clock support in English, which lines up with Australian business hours far better than a US-only support desk.
- AI that's included, not upsold. The AI Sales Assistant ships on every plan; the AI email tools arrive at Growth. No separate "AI add-on" invoice.
- Serious security credentials. SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 27701, GDPR and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
What to watch out for
- Monthly billing is punishing. AU$34 a seat monthly against AU$19 on annual is a 79% premium on Lite, and the gap holds across the range. If you want to stay flexible, you pay hard for it.
- No free tier. Only a 14-day trial. HubSpot and others give you a free starting point; Pipedrive doesn't.
- No data-residency guarantee. Pipedrive uses US-based sub-processors and notes that accounts can, in some cases, land in a different region. For a strict data-sovereignty requirement, confirm your account's location with support in writing.
- Marketing and extras cost more. LeadBooster, Campaigns, Web Visitors and Smart Docs are paid add-ons, so the real monthly cost can climb above the headline plan price.
- Phone support is top-plan only. Live chat is broad, but phone help is reserved for higher tiers — and there's no Australian office or local number.
Australian fit
- Available in Australia: Yes — sold globally, with native iOS and Android apps and a browser app.
- Pricing in AUD: Yes — native. The Australian pricing page quotes AU$19 / AU$49 / AU$79 / AU$109 per seat per month on annual billing. Pipedrive's own knowledge base confirms location determines billing currency. No conversion, no exchange-rate exposure at renewal.
- GST: Not stated on the pricing page. Prices are tax-exclusive and the page's only tax note covers EU VAT, so confirm the GST treatment at checkout. A GST-registered business that supplies a valid ABN is generally not charged GST on an imported digital service; unregistered buyers should allow around 10% on top.
- Data residency: Yes, AU (Sydney). Asia-Pacific accounts are primarily hosted in Pipedrive's Sydney AWS region, though US sub-processors are used and exact location should be confirmed with support for strict requirements.
- Local support: 24/7 English live chat, which covers Australian hours; no AU office or local phone line, and phone support is limited to higher plans.
- Certifications: SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701, GDPR, EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Alternatives
| Tool | Why you might prefer it |
|---|---|
| HubSpot CRM | A genuinely free tier and far deeper marketing automation if you want sales and marketing in one suite — at the cost of more complexity. |
| Salesforce | The enterprise standard if you need deep customisation, advanced analytics and an integration for everything — heavier, dearer, and slower to roll out. |
| Capsule / Zoho CRM | Cheaper, simpler options for a very small team that wants a contact-and-deal tracker without Pipedrive's automation depth. |
Bottom line
For an Australian small-to-mid sales team, Pipedrive is an easy shortlist pick and often the right answer. It does the core job — a visual pipeline your reps will actually keep up to date — better than the heavier suites, the AI Sales Assistant adds real value without a separate bill, and, unusually for a US CRM, it hosts Asia-Pacific data in Sydney and answers chat around the clock. Start the 14-day trial on Growth, the tier where the AI email tools and automations live; most teams will land there or on Premium.
It scores 20 rather than higher for honest reasons. Pipedrive bills in US dollars with GST added on top, so your invoice is neither in plain AUD nor fully predictable. There's no free tier to ease you in. The data-residency story, while strong, isn't an ironclad guarantee given US sub-processors. And the marketing extras are paid add-ons that quietly lift the real cost. None of that dents the core recommendation — for a team that wants a sales CRM staff will use rather than resent, Pipedrive earns its place. We'll refresh this if the pricing currency, the data-hosting policy or the AI feature split moves.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | Fair per-seat pricing in native AUD and AI included on every plan; loses a mark for no free tier and a 79% monthly-billing premium |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | The gentlest learning curve in the category; reps productive in an afternoon |
| Feature Depth | 4/5 | Best-in-class pipeline plus solid automation, forecasting and AI; thin on marketing, which is sold as add-ons |
| Australian Fit | 5/5 | Native AUD pricing (AU$19–AU$109/seat/mo, verified 21 Sep 2026), AU (Sydney) data hosting and 24/7 English chat. Four of the five AU-fit factors met outright; the remaining gaps are no AU office and a pricing page silent on GST |

| Total | 21/25 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent |

Update history
- 21 Sep 2026 — Correction: Pipedrive bills Australian customers in Australian dollars. This review said flatly that it does not. Read in a browser from an Australian IP on 21 September 2026,
pipedrive.com/en/pricingserves AU$19 / AU$49 / AU$79 / AU$109 per seat per month on annual billing (one payment of AU$228 / AU$588 / AU$948 / AU$1,308 a year) and AU$34 / AU$69 / AU$109 / AU$139 billed monthly. The review carried US$14 / US$39 / US$59 / US$79 with ≈A$20 / A$55 / A$83 / A$111 conversions at 1.40 beside them, and stated "Pricing in AUD: No". Old figures kept visible per our price-history rule. Add-ons are AUD too: LeadBooster from A$32.50, Projects from A$16, Campaigns from A$13.33. Per our AUD pricing rule the real AUD prices now stand alone and the 6 September exchange-rate note has been dropped for this tool. This was findable from our own sources: source 5 in this review already cited Pipedrive's knowledge-base line that "location determines billing currency" — the review cited it and then concluded the opposite. GST wording corrected too: the page's only tax statement covers EU VAT and says nothing about Australian GST, so "GST is applied to Australian customers at checkout" was asserted beyond the source. Australian Fit 4/5 → 5/5 and total 20/25 → 21/25, crossing into ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent. The Australian Fit cell docked a mark for "USD-plus-GST billing and no AU office"; half that reason has evaporated, and with native AUD pricing, Sydney data hosting and 24/7 English chat, Pipedrive now clears four of the five Australian Fit factors outright. The Australian Fit gate passes at 5/5, so the five stars are displayable. Found by the corpus-wide AUD re-check (Audits/aud-native-recheck-2026-09-21.md). Frequently asked questions
Is Pipedrive available in Australia?
Yes — sold globally with native iOS and Android apps and a browser app. Better still for Australians, it hosts Asia-Pacific accounts in an AU (Sydney) AWS region and answers live chat in English 24/7, which most US CRMs can't claim.
Does Pipedrive charge in AUD?
Yes. The Australian pricing page quotes AU$19 to AU$109 per seat per month on annual billing (read 21 September 2026), and Pipedrive's knowledge base confirms your location determines your billing currency. Prices are tax-exclusive and the page says nothing about Australian GST, so confirm the GST line at checkout.
Is there a free plan or free trial?
No free tier — only a 14-day trial. That's a mark against it versus HubSpot, which has a genuinely free starting point. Most teams should start the trial on the Growth plan, where the AI email tools and automations live.
Is my data stored in Australia?
Mostly, yes. Asia-Pacific accounts are primarily hosted in Pipedrive's Sydney AWS region — a genuine rarity. But US-based sub-processors are used and accounts can occasionally land elsewhere, so confirm your account's location with support in writing for strict requirements.
Who is Pipedrive best for?
Small-to-mid Australian sales teams that want a visual pipeline their reps will actually keep updated. The AI Sales Assistant is included on every plan and the learning curve is the gentlest in the category. Heavy marketing-automation needs are better served by HubSpot.
