Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).

Verdict (TL;DR): Pipedrive is a sales CRM built around one idea — a visual deal pipeline you drag cards across — and it does that one idea better than the bloated suites it competes with. The AI layer is now baked into every plan: an AI Sales Assistant that flags which deals need attention and surfaces win patterns, plus AI tools that write and summarise sales emails from the Growth plan up. For Australian teams the news that matters is that Pipedrive hosts Asia-Pacific accounts in an AU (Sydney) AWS region and answers live chat in English 24/7 — two things most US CRMs can't claim. The catch: it bills in US dollars with GST added on top, not in plain AUD, and there's no free tier, only a 14-day trial. Plans run US$14 to US$79 per seat per month on annual billing. For a small-to-mid Australian sales team that wants a CRM their reps will actually use, it's an easy shortlist pick.

What Pipedrive is

Pipedrive is a sales-focused CRM — software that tracks your leads, deals and customers so nothing falls through the cracks. Its whole design centres on the pipeline: a board of columns (stages) with deals as cards you drag from "Lead in" to "Deal won." That sounds simple, and that's the point. Where Salesforce and HubSpot try to be everything to everyone, Pipedrive picks a lane — closing deals — and stays in it.

Around the pipeline sit the tools a sales team needs day to day: contact and deal management, email sync, activity reminders, workflow automation, reporting and forecasting, a meeting scheduler, and e-signatures and documents on the higher plans. It runs in the browser and as native iPhone and Android apps, so reps can update deals from a car park between meetings.

The company is Estonian-founded, now US-headquartered, and sells in more than 175 countries. Over the past year it has pushed AI into the core product rather than bolting it on as a separate upsell — every current plan badge reads "Now with AI."

The AI features, and what they actually do

Pipedrive's AI comes in two parts.

The first is the AI Sales Assistant — a panel that reads your pipeline and tells you where to look. It flags deals that have gone quiet, predicts which are likely to close, surfaces patterns across won and lost deals, and offers performance tips and feature nudges. Think of it less as a chatbot and more as a sales manager glancing over your shoulder and saying "this one's stalled, chase it." It's included on every plan, including entry-level Lite.

The second is the AI email layer: an AI email writer that drafts sales emails from a short prompt, and an AI email summariser that compresses a long thread into a one-line read. These unlock on the Growth plan and up — not on Lite. There's also AI-assisted report creation, which Pipedrive includes across all tiers.

This is a sensible split. The assistant earns its keep by pointing reps at the right deal; the email tools save the ten minutes a day everyone loses writing follow-ups. Neither is a breakthrough, and neither tries to be — they're competent, well-placed time-savers rather than headline acts.

What it costs in Australia

Here's the part Australian buyers need to read twice. Pipedrive publishes its prices in US dollars, and the figures below are VAT/GST exclusive — for an Australian customer, GST is added at checkout, not baked into the sticker price. There is no native AUD list price and no free tier; you get a 14-day trial, then you pay.

Plan Price (US$, per seat/month, billed annually) What you get
Lite US$14 (≈ A$20 + GST) Pipeline and deal management, contacts, email integration, the AI Sales Assistant, mobile apps
Growth US$39 (≈ A$55 + GST) Adds full email sync, automations and nurture sequences, the AI email writer and summariser, scheduler, business-hours live chat
Premium (most popular) US$59 (≈ A$83 + GST) Adds lead routing, forecasting, contracts and e-signatures, Smart Docs, projects, deeper customisation
Ultimate US$79 (≈ A$111 + GST) Adds the full suite — maximum customisation, advanced security and admin, priority support

Pricing as of 3 June 2026 from Pipedrive's pricing page (US$, billed per seat per month on annual plans; monthly billing costs more). AUD conversions are approximate at US$1 ≈ A$1.40 and are indicative only — you are billed in USD with GST added. Add-ons (LeadBooster, Campaigns, Smart Docs, Web Visitors) are priced separately on top.

Value verdict: Lite at US$14 is fair for a single-pipeline CRM with the AI assistant included, but most teams will want Growth — the AI email tools and automations live there, and that's the tier where Pipedrive starts doing real work. Premium is the one most sales teams settle on once they need forecasting and e-signatures. The honest mark against value is the billing: USD pricing plus GST added on top means the number on your invoice is higher and less predictable than a plain AUD CRM, and the absence of a free tier (HubSpot has one) makes Pipedrive a commitment from day one.

How it works in practice

Setup is quick. You define your pipeline stages, import contacts from a spreadsheet or another CRM, connect your email, and start dragging deals across the board. The learning curve is the gentlest in the category — a non-technical sales rep is productive in an afternoon, which is the whole reason teams pick Pipedrive over heavier rivals their staff quietly refuse to use.

In daily use, the pipeline view is the hero: you see every open deal, what stage it's at, and what's overdue, in one glance. The AI Sales Assistant rides alongside, nudging you toward the deals that need a call. Automations handle the busywork — send this email when a deal moves stage, create this task when a lead comes in. Reporting and forecasting are solid for a team of this size, though analysts at a large enterprise will find them shallower than Salesforce.

The weak spots are the edges, not the core. Marketing automation is thin and mostly sold as paid add-ons; phone support is reserved for higher plans; and very large or heavily customised operations will eventually hit the ceiling of a tool that was deliberately built to stay simple.

What it does well

  • The pipeline is the best in the category. Drag-and-drop deal management that reps actually use, not avoid. Simplicity is the feature.
  • It hosts Australian data in Sydney. Asia-Pacific sign-ups are primarily hosted in Pipedrive's AU (Sydney) AWS region — a genuine rarity among US CRMs and a real answer to "where does our data live?"
  • 24/7 English live chat. Round-the-clock support in English, which lines up with Australian business hours far better than a US-only support desk.
  • AI that's included, not upsold. The AI Sales Assistant ships on every plan; the AI email tools arrive at Growth. No separate "AI add-on" invoice.
  • Serious security credentials. SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 27701, GDPR and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

What to watch out for

  • It bills in USD, with GST added. No native AUD pricing; your invoice is a USD figure ex-GST, so the cost moves with the exchange rate.
  • No free tier. Only a 14-day trial. HubSpot and others give you a free starting point; Pipedrive doesn't.
  • No data-residency guarantee. Pipedrive uses US-based sub-processors and notes that accounts can, in some cases, land in a different region. For a strict data-sovereignty requirement, confirm your account's location with support in writing.
  • Marketing and extras cost more. LeadBooster, Campaigns, Web Visitors and Smart Docs are paid add-ons, so the real monthly cost can climb above the headline plan price.
  • Phone support is top-plan only. Live chat is broad, but phone help is reserved for higher tiers — and there's no Australian office or local number.

Australian fit

  • Available in Australia: Yes — sold globally, with native iOS and Android apps and a browser app.
  • Pricing in AUD: No. Prices are listed and billed in US dollars; there is no native AUD price.
  • GST: Added, not included. Pipedrive's prices are tax-exclusive; GST is applied to Australian customers at checkout.
  • Data residency: Yes, AU (Sydney). Asia-Pacific accounts are primarily hosted in Pipedrive's Sydney AWS region, though US sub-processors are used and exact location should be confirmed with support for strict requirements.
  • Local support: 24/7 English live chat, which covers Australian hours; no AU office or local phone line, and phone support is limited to higher plans.
  • Certifications: SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701, GDPR, EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Alternatives

Tool Why you might prefer it
HubSpot CRM A genuinely free tier and far deeper marketing automation if you want sales and marketing in one suite — at the cost of more complexity.
Salesforce The enterprise standard if you need deep customisation, advanced analytics and an integration for everything — heavier, dearer, and slower to roll out.
Capsule / Zoho CRM Cheaper, simpler options for a very small team that wants a contact-and-deal tracker without Pipedrive's automation depth.

Bottom line

For an Australian small-to-mid sales team, Pipedrive is an easy shortlist pick and often the right answer. It does the core job — a visual pipeline your reps will actually keep up to date — better than the heavier suites, the AI Sales Assistant adds real value without a separate bill, and, unusually for a US CRM, it hosts Asia-Pacific data in Sydney and answers chat around the clock. Start the 14-day trial on Growth, the tier where the AI email tools and automations live; most teams will land there or on Premium.

It scores 20 rather than higher for honest reasons. Pipedrive bills in US dollars with GST added on top, so your invoice is neither in plain AUD nor fully predictable. There's no free tier to ease you in. The data-residency story, while strong, isn't an ironclad guarantee given US sub-processors. And the marketing extras are paid add-ons that quietly lift the real cost. None of that dents the core recommendation — for a team that wants a sales CRM staff will use rather than resent, Pipedrive earns its place. We'll refresh this if the pricing currency, the data-hosting policy or the AI feature split moves.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pipedrive available in Australia?

Yes — sold globally with native iOS and Android apps and a browser app. Better still for Australians, it hosts Asia-Pacific accounts in an AU (Sydney) AWS region and answers live chat in English 24/7, which most US CRMs can't claim.

Does Pipedrive charge in AUD?

No. Prices are listed and billed in US dollars, and GST is added on top at checkout rather than included. Plans run US$14 to US$79 per seat per month on annual billing, so your invoice moves with the exchange rate.

Is there a free plan or free trial?

No free tier — only a 14-day trial. That's a mark against it versus HubSpot, which has a genuinely free starting point. Most teams should start the trial on the Growth plan, where the AI email tools and automations live.

Is my data stored in Australia?

Mostly, yes. Asia-Pacific accounts are primarily hosted in Pipedrive's Sydney AWS region — a genuine rarity. But US-based sub-processors are used and accounts can occasionally land elsewhere, so confirm your account's location with support in writing for strict requirements.

Who is Pipedrive best for?

Small-to-mid Australian sales teams that want a visual pipeline their reps will actually keep updated. The AI Sales Assistant is included on every plan and the learning curve is the gentlest in the category. Heavy marketing-automation needs are better served by HubSpot.
