Yes — onshore. Zoho operates data centres in Sydney (primary) and Melbourne, and an Australian account is hosted in the local region.

The gate: Australian Fit 5/5 clears it, so five stars are permitted.

Verdict (TL;DR): Zoho CRM is one of the few global CRMs that treats Australia as a home market, not an afterthought. Its AI assistant, Zia, does the work most sales teams actually want from AI: it scores leads by how likely they are to convert, predicts deals and churn, flags anomalies in your pipeline, enriches records, transcribes and reads the sentiment of calls, and writes record summaries on demand. For Australians the fit is unusually strong — Zoho runs data centres in Sydney and Melbourne, prices in native AUD with GST already included, and answers the phone from a local office. The catch is tiering: the full AI sales assistant lives in the Enterprise plan at A$60.50/user/month (billed annually), so the cheaper editions give you a CRM but not the good AI. For an Australian small or mid-sized business that wants a capable CRM with genuine AI inside it — and wants its customer data held onshore — Zoho is an easy recommendation. Start on the free edition, but budget for Enterprise if Zia is the reason you're here.

What Zoho CRM and Zia are

Zoho CRM is the sales-and-customer system at the centre of Zoho's wider business suite — contacts, leads, deals, pipelines, quotes, email and reporting in one place. It's a mature product used by businesses worldwide, and it sits in the same arena as Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics.

Zia is the AI assistant built into it. Rather than a single chatbot bolted on the side, Zia is a set of AI features that sit across the CRM and act on your own sales data. The ones that ship today include:

  • Zia scores — ranks leads and deals by how likely they are to convert, so reps work the right records first.
  • Prediction — churn prediction and custom field prediction trained on your historical data.
  • AI forecasting — revenue forecasts built from your pipeline.
  • Anomaly detection — flags when a metric deviates from its usual trend (a deal stalling, sales dropping off).
  • Data enrichment — fills in missing details on contacts and accounts.
  • AI for emails and AI for calls — the latter with transcription and sentiment analysis.
  • Generative AI — record summaries and content generation inside the CRM.
  • Best time and mode to contact, image validation, and Ask Zia, a text assistant you query to retrieve data.

Power users on the top tier can also build custom AI/ML models through Zoho's QuickML. The important point for buyers: Zia isn't one feature you switch on — it's a layer that gets deeper as you move up the editions.

What it costs in Australia

This is where Zoho earns its keep for Australians. Visit the pricing page from Australia and the prices show in native AUD, and the page states they are inclusive of local taxes — so the number you see already has GST in it. No USD card, no "tax calculated at checkout."

Plan Price (AUD, billed annually, GST inc.) Month-to-month (AUD) Zia AI included?
Free (up to 3 users) $0 $0 No
Standard A$22/user/mo A$33/user/mo No (basic AI agents only)
Professional A$35.20/user/mo A$55/user/mo Email intelligence; not the full assistant
Enterprise A$60.50/user/mo A$77/user/mo Yes — the full AI sales assistant (Zia)
Ultimate A$80.30/user/mo A$100.10/user/mo Yes, plus custom AI/ML and enhanced limits

Pricing as of 3 June 2026, from Zoho's pricing page shown to an Australian visitor (native AUD, stated inclusive of local taxes). Annual billing is roughly a third cheaper than month-to-month at every tier — Standard is A$22/user/month annually versus A$33 monthly.

Value verdict: At the CRM level, Zoho is keenly priced — A$22/user/month annually for Standard is below most global rivals, and the prices already include GST. But the headline AI — the full Zia sales assistant — sits in the Enterprise edition at A$60.50/user/month. That's still competitive against Salesforce and Dynamics for an AI-capable CRM, and it's fair value if you'll use the scoring, prediction and call-analysis features. Just don't buy Standard or Professional expecting the AI; for Zia, Enterprise is the entry point.

How it works in practice

The everyday Zia experience is quiet and embedded, which is the right design. Scores appear against your leads and deals, so a rep opening the pipeline sees who's worth chasing. Anomaly detection nudges you when a number drifts. After a call, Zia can transcribe it and tell you whether the customer sounded positive or frustrated. Record summaries save the manager who doesn't want to read a six-month activity log. Ask Zia lets you type a question to pull data without building a report.

The prediction and scoring features improve as Zia learns from your closed deals, so a business with real history in the system gets more out of it than a brand-new account. That's honest to flag: Zia is most useful once it has data to learn from.

The trade-off is breadth over simplicity. Zoho CRM is deep, and configuring it — fields, workflows, which Zia features to switch on — takes more setup than a lightweight tool. A non-technical operator will get value, but probably after a setup session or a partner's help, not in the first ten minutes.

What it does well

  • Genuine, embedded AI — not a bolted-on chatbot. Scoring, prediction, anomaly detection, enrichment, call sentiment and generative summaries all act on your own sales data inside the CRM.
  • Your data can stay in Australia. Zoho runs data centres in Sydney and Melbourne; an Australian sign-up is hosted in the local region. Onshore storage is rare among global CRMs and matters for buyers with data-sovereignty requirements.
  • It bills in AUD with GST included. The Australian pricing page shows native AUD and states the prices are inclusive of local taxes — no currency conversion, no surprise tax line.
  • Real Australian support. Zoho lists an Australian office and a local phone number, not just a global help centre.
  • Recognised security certifications. The Australian data centres carry ISO 27001, SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and PCI DSS — the certifications an organisation's procurement team will ask for.

What to watch out for

  • The good AI is gated to Enterprise. The full Zia sales assistant starts at the Enterprise edition (A$60.50/user/month). Standard and Professional give you a CRM, not the headline AI — budget accordingly.
  • It rewards setup, not impatience. Zoho CRM is powerful and configurable, which means it takes real setup to get value. A non-technical user may want onboarding help.
  • Zia needs your data to shine. Scoring and prediction learn from your closed deals, so a new account with little history sees less benefit at first.
  • Custom AI/ML is top-tier only. Building your own models via QuickML sits in the Ultimate edition (A$80.30/user/month).
  • Breadth can overwhelm. The same depth that makes Zoho capable can make it feel heavy for a very small team that only needs a simple contact list.

Australian fit

  • Available in Australia: Yes — sold and supported locally, with an Australian office and phone line.
  • Pricing in AUD: Yes — native AUD on the Australian pricing page (Standard A$22/user/mo annually; Enterprise A$60.50/user/mo annually).
  • GST: Included. The pricing page states the prices shown are inclusive of local taxes.
  • Data residency: Yes — onshore. Zoho operates data centres in Sydney (primary) and Melbourne, and an Australian account is hosted in the local region.
  • Certifications: ISO 27001, SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS on the Australian data centres.
  • Local support: Yes — Australian office and local phone number, alongside the global help centre.

Alternatives

Tool Why you might prefer it
HubSpot If you want a gentler on-ramp and strong inbound-marketing tooling, and don't need onshore data residency as a hard requirement.
Salesforce (with Einstein) If you're a larger enterprise that needs the deepest customisation and a bigger partner ecosystem, and can wear the higher cost.
Pipedrive If you're a small sales team that wants a simple, pipeline-first CRM and finds Zoho's breadth more than you need.

Bottom line

For an Australian business that wants a capable CRM with real AI inside it — and wants its customer data held onshore — Zoho CRM with Zia is an easy yes. Zia does the work sales teams actually want from AI: it tells reps who to call, predicts which deals will close, flags when something's off, and summarises the noise. And Zoho does the Australian things right — AUD pricing with GST included, data in Sydney or Melbourne, and a local office that answers the phone. Start on the free edition to learn the system; if Zia is why you came, Enterprise at A$60.50/user/month is the tier that delivers it.

It scores 21 rather than higher for honest reasons. The full AI sits behind the Enterprise paywall, so the cheaper plans undersell what the product can do. Zoho is deep enough that it takes setup to get value, and the smallest teams may find it heavier than they need. None of that dents the core case: on Australian fit — onshore data, AUD-and-GST billing, local support and the right certifications — Zoho is about as strong as a global CRM gets for this market. We'll refresh this if the pricing, the tiering or the data-residency position moves.

Update history
  • 21 Sep 2026 — Zoho's own pricing pages now contradict each other on GST. Our figures are unchanged and correct; this records why. Read live in a browser from an Australian connection today, zoho.com/crm/zohocrm-pricing.html shows Standard A$22 · Professional A$35.20 · Enterprise A$60.50 · Ultimate A$80.30 per user per month on annual billing — exactly the figures this review already carried — but its footnote now reads "Local taxes (VAT, GST, etc.) will be charged in addition to the prices mentioned." Zoho's Desk page, read in the same session and showing the identical A$22 / A$35.20 / A$60.50 on its shared tiers, reads "Prices mentioned are inclusive of local taxes." Both cannot be right. The arithmetic settles it in favour of tax-inclusive: every one of the four CRM prices is exactly 1.1× a round base — 22.00÷1.1=20, 35.20÷1.1=32, 60.50÷1.1=55, 80.30÷1.1=73. Four of four. A price list built ex-GST does not land on four round numbers after dividing by 1.1. "inc. GST" stands and no figure moves. This note exists because the corpus has been burned by this exact trap before, in the other direction: the 2 September pass read Zoho Desk's ex-GST display as tax-inclusive and wrote up a "9% price cut" that never happened, which took three weeks to catch on an Editor's Choice tool. A later pass reading the CRM footnote without doing the division would add 10% to four prices that already include it. Do the division before believing either statement. No score change; 21/25 and Australian Fit stand. Also of note: zoho.com was returning HTTP 403 to an earlier check today, consistent with the known Cloudflare-versus-VPN-exit-IP problem, and answered normally on this retry — a 403 from Zoho is a network artefact, not a vendor signal. Source · Wayback: capture pending (archive.org returned HTTP 500 on 20 and 21 Sep 2026).
  • 2 Sep 2026 — Pricing re-verified against Zoho's live AU-visitor pricing: unchanged. Standard A$22 / Professional A$35.20 / Enterprise A$60.50 / Ultimate A$80.30 per user/month annual (monthly A$33 / A$55 / A$77 / A$100.10), all GST-inclusive with the "inclusive of local taxes" note still shown to Australian visitors. Zia gating unchanged (full AI sales assistant at Enterprise; custom AI/ML QuickML at Ultimate; free edition for 3 users remains). Sydney (primary) and Melbourne data centres confirmed. Source
