Luma Agents First Look: One AI Crew for the Whole Creative Job
The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

Verdict in one line: A glimpse of where creative work is going — currently sold to the Publicis tier of the market, not to you.
⚠️ STALENESS FLAG — 6 September 2026. This first look was published 9 March 2026 and is 181 days old. It has not been re-verified against the vendor since. AI products move fast: pricing, model versions, plan names and Australian availability may all have changed. Read the verdict below as a snapshot of March 2026, not as a current recommendation. (House rule: any review over six months old carries this flag until it is updated.)
What launched
On 5 March 2026 Luma launched Luma Agents, AI agents that take a creative brief and carry the project end to end across text, image, video and audio, powered by its new "Unified Intelligence" family of multimodal models. Launch customers included Publicis Groupe, Serviceplan, Adidas and Mazda.
What it does
Where most AI creative tools generate an asset, Luma Agents run a project: plan the concept, iterate with full creative context, and deliver a coordinated set of outputs. Because one unified model family handles every modality, the agents keep visual and tonal consistency across a campaign — the thing cobbled-together tool stacks notoriously fail at.
Pricing for Australians
At launch this was API-only, with access rolling out gradually and no plain consumer plan.
Update — 20 September 2026: Luma now sells self-serve plans. Plus is US$30/month (US$300 yearly), Pro US$90/month and Ultra US$300/month. That is about A$42, A$126 and A$420 at 1.40 (verified September 2026), ex-GST. The three tiers carry 10,000, 40,000 and 150,000 credits. Team and Enterprise sit above. Billing remains USD with no AUD option. The previous version of this section said there was no consumer plan and no published retail pricing. That was true in March and is not true now.
Australian Fit
Nothing blocks Australian use, but everything about the launch was aimed at global agency networks: gradual access, enterprise onboarding, US processing, no local presence or support. For an Australian SME wanting "make my campaign," the practical answer in March was: you can't buy that yet. That has changed — an Australian can now subscribe directly from US$30/month — so the 2/5 recorded here is a March figure awaiting a full re-score.
Early read
Good: the demos of cross-modal consistency are genuinely ahead of the market; agency adoption suggests real production use, not vapour. Not so good: you can't simply sign up and use it; costs are opaque; and output ownership/licensing for commercial campaigns needs careful contract reading — standard advice for creative AI, doubly so at agency scale.
Early verdict
Watch, don't buy — that was the March answer. If you run marketing for an Australian brand, ask your agency whether they're testing it. The condition we set for a re-review has now been met: there is a product an SME can purchase, from US$30 a month. A full re-review and re-score is queued.

Update history
- 20 Sep 2026 — Staleness check, and the central claim of this review has been overtaken. Re-verified availability, plans and models against Luma's product page. Luma now sells self-serve individual plans, was API-only with no plain consumer plan in March. Plus is US$30/month (US$300 yearly), Pro US$90/month (US$900 yearly) and Ultra US$300/month (US$3,000 yearly). That is roughly A$42, A$126 and A$420 a month at 1.40 (verified September 2026), ex-GST. The tiers carry 10,000, 40,000 and 150,000 credits, with Team and Enterprise above them. Billing is still USD with no AUD option. The model family is now named UNI-1 / Uni-1.1 and Ray3.2, was "Unified Intelligence" generically. The 14/25 score and the 2/5 Australian Fit were both argued from "an Australian SME can't buy this". That is no longer true. This first look needs a full re-review and re-score, not a date stamp. Score left at 14/25 pending that. - 6 Sep 2026 — Staleness flag added at 181 days (house voice rule 8). No claims re-verified this pass; no score change.
- 9 Mar 2026 — First reviewed.
