Jamie Review: Bot-Free AI Notetaker with EU Data Hosting
- From
- A$35/mo · ex-GST · billed in EUR
- Your data
- EU-hosted (servers in EU on AWS infrastructure). Not Australian, but meaningfully stronger than US-only hosting.
The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictVerdict (TL;DR): Jamie captures any meeting — Zoom, Teams, Meet, or an in-person conversation in a cafe — without joining as a visible bot. It processes audio locally on your device before sending for transcription, and stores all data in the EU under GDPR. For privacy-conscious Australians who find meeting bots uncomfortable, that combination is genuinely appealing. The trade-off: web pricing is in euros (the iPhone app bills in Australian dollars, about 16% cheaper), the free plan is tightly capped, and the integration set is narrower than US competitors. Not the most feature-rich tool in the category, but one of the most privacy-respectable.

What Jamie is
Jamie is a bot-free AI meeting assistant built by Coda Platform GmbH, a company headquartered in Berlin, Germany. It was founded in 2022. The product has over 20,000 users and positions itself as a privacy-first alternative to bot-based notetakers like Fireflies, Otter, or tl;dv.
The core differentiator: Jamie does not join your meeting as a separate participant. Instead, it runs as a desktop app (Mac and Windows, plus iOS and Android) that captures the audio from your device's microphone and speaker output. Other participants never see a "Jamie joined the meeting" notification. The transcription and notes are generated after the meeting ends.
Jamie supports 100+ languages for transcription, produces AI-generated summaries and action items, and works even for offline, in-person meetings — something most meeting notetakers cannot do.
Data is hosted in the EU. The company is GDPR compliant and offers ISO 27001 certification on its Enterprise plan. Jamie explicitly states it does not train models on your data.
What it costs in Australia
Jamie prices in euros (EUR) on its website. There is no AUD pricing page there and no USD option, so a web subscriber carries both currency conversion risk (EUR to AUD) and an unconfirmed GST treatment — confirm with the vendor. The iPhone app is the exception, and it is cheaper. (Corrected 21 Sep 2026 — this paragraph previously said there was no AUD pricing at all.)
| Plan | EUR price | AUD approx (EUR ×1.65) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | Free | 10 meetings/month; 30-minute meeting duration limit; Notion, Google Docs, OneNote integrations |
| Plus | €21/month (annual) | ~AUD $35/month | 20 meetings/month; 2-hour meeting limit; same basic integrations |
| Pro | €39/month (annual) | ~AUD $64/month | Unlimited meetings; 3-hour limit; Salesforce, HubSpot, Asana; MCP for AI tools |
| Team | €33/seat/month (annual, 2–10 seats) | ~AUD $54/seat/month | Unlimited meetings; 3-hour limit; shared workspace; advanced collaboration; centralized billing |
| Enterprise | Custom (10+ seats) | Custom | SAML SSO, SCIM (coming soon), DPAs, ISO 27001, personalised onboarding |
AUD conversions approximate at 1 EUR = 1.65 AUD as of June 2026. Figures are ex-GST: a GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add ~10%. Exchange rate not locked by vendor.
In the app it is Australian dollars, GST included — and about 16% below the euro conversion. The Australian App Store listing declares "priceCurrency":"AUD" with wespond UG (haftungsbeschränkt) as seller of record, and sells Plus at A$35.00/month or A$399.00/year and Pro at A$59.00/month or A$599.00/year, on an Apple tax invoice. Plus works out about A$31.80 a month ex-GST against the ~A$35 above, and Pro about A$53.60 against ~A$64; the annual rates are lower again (Plus ≈ A$30.20/month ex-GST). Buy in the app — it is cheaper, quoted in your own currency, and settles the GST question the website leaves open. Read 21 September 2026.
The EUR pricing makes Jamie one of the more expensive tools in this category on an AUD basis — though buying through the App Store takes about 16% off. The Pro plan at roughly AUD $64/month is notably pricier than Tactiq's Pro at ~AUD $12.40/month or Spinach's Business plan at ~AUD $29.50/user/month. You are paying a premium partly for the EU data hosting and bot-free architecture.
The free plan is very limited: 10 meetings per month and a 30-minute cap. You will exhaust it quickly in any normal work week.
How it works in practice
Download the Jamie desktop app. Sign in. Jamie sits in your menu bar and activates when you start a meeting — it captures audio from your device without joining the call platform as a participant.
After the meeting ends, Jamie processes the recording and delivers a structured summary: key decisions, action items, discussion points. The output arrives in the app and can be pushed to Notion, Google Docs, or OneNote on all paid plans; HubSpot, Salesforce, and Asana are available on Pro and above.
For in-person meetings, you can open Jamie on your laptop or phone and let it record the room. This is one of the few tools in the category that genuinely handles the "meeting without a screen" scenario.
The AI assistant ("Ask Jamie") lets you query any past meeting transcript — ask it to summarise last week's client call or pull out decisions from a specific project meeting.
What it does well
Genuinely bot-free. Jamie does not join your call as a participant. Attendees have no notification that recording is happening via a third-party bot. This matters for client calls, sensitive conversations, and professional contexts where a bot joining feels intrusive.
In-person meeting support. Jamie records face-to-face meetings via microphone. Most AI notetakers only work with online calls. This is a meaningful capability for anyone who still meets clients or teams in person.
EU data hosting. All data is stored on servers in the EU. For Australians concerned about data flowing to the United States, EU hosting is a meaningfully better alternative — GDPR enforcement is stricter than most comparable US frameworks.
100+ language support. Strong multilingual transcription on all plans.
No data training. Jamie explicitly does not train AI models on your content.
MCP integration. The Pro plan supports MCP (Model Context Protocol), allowing Jamie to connect with AI assistants including Claude and ChatGPT — a useful capability for teams building AI workflows.
What it doesn't do well
Expensive for Australians in EUR. The EUR-to-AUD conversion makes Jamie noticeably pricier than USD-priced competitors. The Pro plan at ~AUD $64/month per person is hard to justify for individuals when Tactiq's Team plan offers unlimited transcripts for ~AUD $26/month.
Tight free plan. Ten meetings per month with a 30-minute cap is barely enough to evaluate the product properly. Most people will hit the limit in their first week.
Narrower integration set than US competitors. On the free and Plus plans, integrations are limited to Notion, Google Docs, and OneNote. HubSpot, Salesforce, and Asana require Pro. There is no Jira, Linear, ClickUp, or Trello integration — a gap for product and engineering teams.
No recording retention control on lower plans. Storage is listed as unlimited, but transcript access and management controls are thin on the free and Plus tiers.
EU data hosting is not AU data hosting. EU hosting is better than US hosting from a data sovereignty perspective, but it is not the same as Australian data residency. Australian organisations with specific requirements for onshore data storage should note this distinction.
Consent management is manual. Jamie includes a "consent email" feature to notify participants that recording is occurring, but this is opt-in and must be managed by the user. You are responsible for complying with Australian recording consent laws.
Australian fit
Jamie is a European product with no AU-specific features, but its privacy architecture is more compatible with Australian concerns than most US-hosted alternatives.
- Pricing: EUR only. No AUD or USD pricing. Double currency conversion risk (EUR → AUD).
- Data residency: EU-hosted (servers in EU on AWS infrastructure). Not Australian, but meaningfully stronger than US-only hosting.
- GST: Not confirmed — (unconfirmed). European-company invoicing to Australian subscribers may or may not include GST. Confirm with vendor.
- Support: European-based team. No stated AU-hours support coverage. Priority support on Pro and Team plans.
- AU-specific features: None. Product is market-agnostic.
For Australians in sectors where US data hosting is problematic — particularly consulting firms handling client confidential information, legal practices, or health-adjacent businesses — Jamie's EU hosting is a genuine advantage over tools that process data in the United States.
The "no bot visible to other participants" feature also has practical professional value in Australian contexts: client meetings, interview processes, and board-level conversations where a bot participant would be unwelcome.
Recording consent: Australian law varies by state on the recording of private conversations. In most jurisdictions, at least one party to the conversation must consent. Because Jamie does not join as a visible bot, other participants may not know recording is occurring unless you tell them. You are responsible for managing consent appropriately. Jamie provides a consent email feature to help notify attendees, but it is your obligation to use it. This is not legal advice.
Alternatives
- Otter AI — bot-based notetaker; stronger free plan; US-hosted; more integrations at lower price points
- Fathom — generous free plan; clean UX; US-hosted; bot-based
- Granola — bot-free Mac app; similar privacy-first positioning; US-hosted
For bot-based tools with the best integration sets, see the Spinach and Fireflies reviews in this category. For another bot-free option with US data hosting, see Bluedot.
Bottom line
Jamie earns its place in the category for two specific audiences: people who find meeting bots uncomfortable or unprofessional, and people who want EU data hosting rather than US. If either of those matters to you, Jamie is worth considering.
The case against it: EUR pricing is expensive in AUD terms, the free plan is barely functional, and the integration set lags behind US competitors. Tactiq costs a fraction of the price and covers most of the same ground, unless the bot-free or EU-hosted angle is important to you.
Try the free plan to test transcription quality on your voice and accent. If it works well, the Pro plan at ~AUD $64/month is defensible for individuals. For teams, the Team plan at ~AUD $54/seat/month needs a strong justification given the price differential versus alternatives.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 3/5 | The free plan is still too limited to evaluate properly, which is what holds this row down. But the App Store sells Plus at A$35.00/month and Pro at A$59.00 in Australian dollars with GST included — about 16% below the euro conversion, not above it — so the "expensive in AUD" half of the old rationale was wrong. (Was 2/5; corrected 21 Sep 2026 — see Update history.) |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Desktop app is clean; no bot to configure; works for online and in-person meetings |
| Feature Depth | 3/5 | Good for notes and action items; integration set narrower than US competitors; no Jira/Linear |
| Australian Fit | 3/5 | EU-hosted (better than US); EUR pricing on the web, though the App Store bills in AUD with GST included and cheaper; no AU support hours; consent is user-managed. (Rationale corrected 21 Sep 2026; mark unchanged — see Update history.) |
| Reliability & Support | 2/5 | GDPR compliant; ISO 27001 on Enterprise; no stated AU uptime guarantees; EU-hours support |
| Total | 15/25 | ⭐⭐⭐ Good |
Australian Fit gate: Australian Fit 3/5 — does not qualify for ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent or category Top Pick.
Update history
- 21 Sep 2026 — Value for Money corrected 2/5 → 3/5. Total 14/25 → 15/25. The band does not change: ⭐⭐⭐ Good. This review's Value for Money row reads "EUR pricing makes this expensive in AUD; free plan is too limited to evaluate properly", and its pricing section says "There is no AUD pricing page, and no USD option." There is an AUD price, and it is lower than the euro conversion, not higher. The Australian App Store listing declares
"priceCurrency":"AUD", names wespond UG (haftungsbeschränkt) as seller and sells Plus at A$35.00/month or A$399.00/year and Pro at A$59.00/month or A$599.00/year, GST included, on an Apple tax invoice. Against our own €×1.65 conversions: Plus is about A$31.80 ex-GST against the ~A$35 published here, and Pro about A$53.60 against ~A$64 — roughly 16% under. The annual rates are better again (Plus A$399.00 ≈ A$30.20/month ex-GST). The half of that rationale that says euro pricing makes Jamie expensive in Australian dollars is simply wrong, and it was carrying the mark. The other half — a free plan too limited to evaluate properly — is untouched and is why this moves to 3 rather than 4. Australian Fit holds at 3/5. Its EU hosting was already the reason for the 3, and the currency line in it is corrected rather than re-scored: no AU support hours and user-managed consent stand. Was 14/25, was Value for Money 2/5. Found by the app-store pricing pass,Audits/app-store-pricing-2026-09-21.md.
