The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).

Verdict (TL;DR): MeetGeek is one of the better-value meeting notetakers for solo operators and small Australian teams. The free plan does real work — three hours of recorded, transcribed and summarised meetings a month, in 100-plus languages, for nothing. Paid plans are cheap by category standards. But you pay in US dollars with no AUD billing, your data sits in the US or EU (not Australia), and the summaries need a human eye before you send them to a client. Good tool, clear limits.

What MeetGeek is

MeetGeek is an AI meeting assistant. It joins your video calls — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams — records them, transcribes what everyone said, and writes up a summary with action items and key points. You can also upload an audio or video file after the fact and have it do the same thing.

It is made by a Romania-based company and sells worldwide. The pitch is simple: stop typing notes during meetings, let the bot capture everything, and get a searchable record plus a tidy recap afterwards. For a busy operator running back-to-back calls, that is a real time saving — somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes per meeting you no longer spend writing things up.

What it costs in Australia

MeetGeek prices in US dollars, per user, per month. There is no AUD billing and no Australian pricing page. The conversions below use the Directory's standard rate (US$1 ≈ A$1.40) ex-GST, rounded.

Plan Price (USD) Approx AUD (ex-GST) What you get
Basic Free Free 3 hours transcription/mo, summaries, 100+ languages
Pro US$9.99/user/mo annual · US$15.99 monthly ~A$14 · ~A$22/user/mo 20 hours transcription/mo, more storage, integrations
Business US$17/user/mo annual · US$27 monthly ~A$24 · ~A$38/user/mo Unlimited transcription, team analytics
Enterprise Custom Custom Unlimited, dedicated support

Source: MeetGeek pricing page (meetgeek.ai/pricing), checked 20 June 2026 and re-read in a browser on 29 September 2026. US$9.99 (Pro) and US$17 (Business) are the annual-billing rates, per user per month; month to month they are US$15.99 and US$27 ("save up to 40%" on yearly). AUD at ~1.40, ex-GST, rounded.

Two practical notes for Australians. First, GST: MeetGeek's pricing page and checkout don't state how it handles Australian GST, and as an overseas digital supplier its treatment can turn on whether you buy as a consumer or supply an ABN. We couldn't confirm its GST handling from MeetGeek's own pages, so the AUD figures above are a straight currency conversion — check the GST line on your own invoice rather than assuming it's included. Second, the Pro plan charges US$0.50 per extra hour above its 20-hour cap, so a heavy-meeting month can quietly cost more than the headline price.

How it works in practice

You connect your calendar, and MeetGeek auto-joins meetings as a participant — a visible bot in the call. After the meeting, you get an email and a dashboard entry: the full transcript, a summary, highlights, and action items you can push to tools like Slack, Notion, HubSpot or Google Docs.

The transcription quality is solid for clear audio and standard accents. Broad Australian accents, crosstalk and bad phone audio still trip it up — names and industry jargon are where you'll do the most correcting. The summaries are competent but generic: they capture what was discussed better than what was decided and by whom. For internal notes that's fine. For anything client-facing, read it before you send it.

The bot joining as a visible participant matters under Australian law. Recording a conversation requires consent, and the rules differ by state. MeetGeek's visible bot makes consent easier to establish, but you should still tell people they're being recorded.

What it does well

  • A free tier that isn't a trap. Three hours of full transcription and summaries a month, in 100-plus languages, at no cost. For a sole trader with a handful of calls a week, that may be all you ever need.
  • Cheap paid plans. At ~A$14/user/mo, Pro undercuts most of the category. Unlimited transcription on Business at ~A$24 is good value for a small team.
  • 100-plus languages. Genuinely useful if you deal with non-English-speaking clients or suppliers.
  • Serious compliance for the price. SOC 2 Type II (completed October 2023), plus GDPR, HIPAA and CCPA alignment — uncommon at this price point.
  • Wide integrations. Pushes notes and actions into Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Google Docs and more, so the recap lands where you already work.

What it doesn't do well

  • No Australian data residency. MeetGeek hosts core account and video data on AWS in the EU (it lists Germany and Ireland), and its transcription runs through a US-based LLM provider. There is no Australian hosting option. If your meetings touch health, legal or financial client data with residency obligations, that's a real constraint.
  • No AUD billing. You're exposed to USD-to-AUD movement and possible card foreign-transaction fees every month. The price isn't fixed in your own currency.
  • Summaries need supervision. They're decent but generic, and weaker on decisions and ownership than on topics. Don't forward one to a client unread.
  • A bot in every meeting. The visible participant is fine internally but can feel intrusive in sensitive or external calls, and some clients will object to a recording bot on the line.
  • Per-seat pricing adds up. Costs scale per user, so a five-person team on Business is ~A$145/mo — still fair, but not the "a few dollars" the free tier implies.

Australian fit

This is where MeetGeek is ordinary rather than bad. The product works fine for Australian users — it joins your Zoom and Teams calls and transcribes them like anywhere else. But none of the Australian-specific boxes are ticked. No AUD billing, no AU data residency, no local support presence, and summaries with no awareness of Australian business context. The compliance credentials (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA) are genuine and worth something, but they're built around US and EU frameworks, not the Privacy Act or Australian data-residency expectations.

For a Melbourne consultant taking internal notes, none of that matters much. For a clinic, a law firm or an accountant handling regulated client data, the lack of Australian hosting is the deciding issue. This tool doesn't replace qualified professional advice — if you have data-residency or privacy obligations, confirm them with your own adviser before recording client meetings.

Alternatives

  • Otter.ai — the better-known notetaker, strong live transcription, similar USD-only, no-AU-hosting limitations. Pick it for polish; pick MeetGeek for value.
  • Fireflies.ai — comparable feature set and integrations, also global/USD. Worth comparing on integration fit with your stack.
  • Microsoft Teams Premium / Copilot — if you're already all-in on Microsoft 365, the built-in recap may be enough without adding another bot or another USD subscription.

Bottom line

MeetGeek is a genuinely good-value meeting notetaker, and the free plan alone justifies a look for any solo operator or small team. Buy it if you want cheap, multilingual, low-fuss meeting notes and you're recording internal or low-sensitivity calls. Don't buy it if you handle regulated client data that has to stay in Australia, or if USD billing and no local hosting are dealbreakers. For most small Australian businesses doing internal meetings, it earns its four stars.

  • 29 Sep 2026 — verified USD by browser; the billing basis was wrong. meetgeek.ai/pricing on an Australian connection: the page shows Pro US$9.99 and Business US$17 a user a month with the Yearly toggle active, and its own data attributes and schema label those as the annual rates (Pro Plan (Annual) 9.99). The month-to-month rates are US$15.99 (~A$22) and US$27 (~A$38). This review said the reverse — that US$9.99 and US$17 were the monthly rates and the annual price was unpublished — so anyone paying monthly would have been quoted about a third too little. The figures were right; the label was wrong. The page's Monthly toggle does not change the displayed card prices when clicked, which is how the June read went astray; the monthly figures come from the page's own data-month values. Table and source note corrected; score unchanged (Value for Money rests on the annual Pro price, which stands). Bare dollar sign, priceCurrency: USD, no A$. • 24 Sep 2026 — The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was. The header read “gross-up; GST unconfirmed” and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, 141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10. No figure changed here; only the description of them did. Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: gross-up names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and GST unconfirmed is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. No USD price moved and no score changed. reviewed: untouched per our dating rule.

Frequently asked questions

Is MeetGeek available in Australia?

Yes. MeetGeek is a Romania-based tool that sells worldwide and works fine for Australian users — it joins your Zoom, Teams and Google Meet calls like anywhere else. There's no local support presence, though.

Does MeetGeek charge in AUD?

No. MeetGeek prices in USD per user per month with no AUD billing, so you're exposed to currency movement and possible card fees. Pro is about A$14/user/month on annual billing (about A$22 month to month). Its GST handling isn't stated — check the GST line on your own invoice.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, and it isn't a trap. The Basic free tier gives three hours of recorded, transcribed and summarised meetings a month in 100-plus languages. For a sole trader with a few calls a week, that may be all you need.

Does MeetGeek keep my data in Australia?

No. Core account and video data sit on AWS in the EU (Germany and Ireland) and transcription runs through a US LLM provider — no Australian hosting option. If your meetings touch regulated client data with residency obligations, that's a real constraint.

Who is MeetGeek best for?

Solo operators and small Australian teams recording internal or low-sensitivity meetings who want cheap, multilingual, low-fuss notes. Clinics, law firms and accountants handling regulated client data should weigh the lack of AU hosting carefully, and always check summaries before sending to a client.
