Earlier editions of this review: 28 Jun 2026 — 15/25. This is edition 2, dated 21 Sep 2026. We keep every edition so you can see how the tool and our verdict have moved — how and why.
The verdict: Farmonaut does the core job well. It pulls free public satellite imagery, turns it into vegetation and soil-moisture maps for each of your paddocks, and layers an AI advisory tool on top — and it starts at about AUD 7 a month. But it isn't built for Australia. Pricing is in US dollars, there's no AU data residency, GST is your problem to sort out, and support is global email only. Worth a trial if you want cheap satellite eyes on your fields and don't mind the rough edges. Score: 14/25 — Good.

Farmonaut is a satellite crop-monitoring platform with an AI advisory layer bolted on. You draw your paddocks on a map, and it serves up vegetation-health and soil-moisture imagery for each field, viewable in a web app or on Android and iOS. It scales from a single hectare up to multi-thousand-hectare agribusiness operations, and it's used by growers, agronomists, banks and insurers. The pitch is straightforward: satellite eyes on every field without buying a drone or hiring an agronomist to walk the property. For a Tasmanian or Riverina grower wondering where the stress is showing up before it's visible from the ute, that's a genuinely useful tool. The catch is that almost nothing about Farmonaut is tailored to Australia.

What it does well

  • Real satellite monitoring, not a gimmick. Farmonaut draws on public satellite constellations such as Sentinel-2 — roughly 10–20m resolution with a ~5-day revisit cycle per the European Space Agency — to produce vegetation indices (NDVI, NDWI and related measures), soil-moisture readings and crop-growth tracking (Farmonaut: satellite indices). You see each field's health on a map and watch it change over the season.
  • AI is genuinely core, not a sticker. Jeevn AI combines the satellite data with machine learning to issue field-specific advice — the vendor frames it around irrigation, fertiliser and nutrition, pest pressure and overall crop health, "from seed to harvest" (Farmonaut: Jeevn AI). This isn't a generic chatbot stapled to a dashboard; the AI advisory is part of the actual product.
  • It's cheap to start. The Mini tier covers up to 5 hectares (5 land parcels) with API access for USD 4.99/month — about AUD 7 before GST, and it is the one tier whose coverage was not cut in 2026. For a small grower testing the idea, the barrier to entry is low (Farmonaut pricing).
  • An open API. From the Mini tier upward you can pull NDVI, soil, weather and advisory data into your own systems (Farmonaut Weather API docs). If you already run farm-management software, that matters.
  • It scales a long way — though less far than it did. The same platform runs from one hectare up to a 1,500-hectare Elite account (1,050 farms). That was 2,500 hectares when we first reviewed it; the ceiling was cut in 2026 without a price change, and Australian broadacre operations above 1,500 ha now need a custom quote (Farmonaut pricing).

Watch out for

  • No AUD pricing — at all. Every plan on Farmonaut's own pricing page is in US dollars (Farmonaut pricing). Independent coverage also reports a cheaper India-only rupee Starter tier (₹200/month) that does not appear on the public USD page; we could not confirm it against a Farmonaut primary page, so treat it as unavailable to Australian buyers. The AUD figures in this review are our own ~1.40 conversions for context. You'll pay in USD and carry the exchange-rate risk.
  • Thin documentation on the AI. The public site describes the advisory categories but says little about how Jeevn AI actually derives its recommendations — no detail on the underlying models and no published agronomic validation (Farmonaut: Jeevn AI). You're asked to trust the advice without much model-level evidence behind it.
  • Cloud cover and revisit gaps the marketing skips. Optical satellites like Sentinel-2 can't see through cloud, and Farmonaut's own docs admit visit frequency "depends on your location and satellite availability." The headline "every 1–3 days" is marketing, not a guaranteed service level — the vendor doesn't publish the actual revisit cadence an Australian grower receives on each tier. Through a wet Tasmanian winter, expect gaps.
  • A very wide product surface. Farmonaut also markets blockchain traceability, fleet tracking, carbon and forest monitoring, crop-loan and insurance assessment, and even satellite mineral detection. That breadth suggests attention is spread thin rather than focused on deep grower features.
  • Pricing pages are awkward to read. The subscription pages are JavaScript-rendered and don't show plain figures until the page scripts load; we had to render the live page to confirm the tiers (Farmonaut pricing). Re-check the live price before you commit.
  • No confirmed free trial. We could not verify a free plan or trial on the vendor's own pricing page — it lists only paid tiers from Mini up (Farmonaut pricing). Some third-party listings imply a demo or trial, but we couldn't confirm that against any Farmonaut primary page. Don't assume you can try before you pay.

Pricing

Prices are read as USD. Note the sourcing: as at 21 September 2026 Farmonaut's pricing page no longer prints the code USD anywhere — prices show a bare $ and the page says only “Prices in each plan's billing currency” — so USD is our inference for the international plans, not a quoted vendor statement. Annual billing is ten times the monthly price (“2 months free”); the page defaults to the annual column, so the first figure you see is the yearly one. AUD figures are our own conversions at USD→AUD 1.4045 (ECB reference rates, 18 September 2026), shown ex-GST for editorial context only — Farmonaut does not display AUD pricing or handle Australian GST in-platform. The USD tiers below are confirmed against Farmonaut's live pricing page (Farmonaut pricing).

Plan Coverage (re-read 21 Sep 2026) Price (USD, monthly) Approx AUD (ex-GST)
Starter (India only) — ₹200/month ~AUD 3.70 — not available to AU buyers; not shown on the public USD pricing page
Mini up to 5 ha / 5 land parcels, API access USD 4.99/month (US$49.99/yr) ~AUD 7
Basic up to 30 ha / 21 land parcels (was 50 ha / 50) USD 29.99/month (US$299.99/yr) ~AUD 42
Standard up to 80 ha / 56 land parcels (was 125 ha / 150) USD 64.99/month (US$649.99/yr) ~AUD 91
Premium up to 300 ha / 210 land parcels (was 500 ha / 600) USD 224.99/month (US$2,249.99/yr) ~AUD 316
Elite (Enterprise) up to 1,500 ha / 1,050 farms (was 2,500 ha / 3,000 parcels) USD 949.99/month (US$9,499.99/yr) ~AUD 1,334
Bigger than Elite Quote only (“Size your plan”) Not published —

The India-only Starter tier is reported by independent coverage, not the vendor's public USD pricing page; we couldn't confirm it to a Farmonaut primary source.

GST note: USD pricing is shown exclusive of any Australian GST. Farmonaut does not address GST, so assume it isn't handled in-platform and self-assess your obligations.

Australian fit

This is where Farmonaut falls down, and it's our defining criterion.

  • AUD pricing: None. All plans on the pricing page are USD (Farmonaut pricing), with one India-only rupee tier reported separately. You pay in US dollars and wear the conversion.
  • Data residency: No Australian data residency. Farmonaut's privacy policy does not name a hosting region and makes no reference to the Australian Privacy Act or the Australian Privacy Principles (Farmonaut privacy policy). The company markets GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA alignment and encrypted cloud storage in its security material, but we couldn't confirm those specific claims on a rendering Farmonaut primary page, neither is set out on its core privacy policy, and no Australian-region option is offered. Treat your farm data as held offshore in an unspecified location.
  • Australian-made: No. The product is not Australian, and the company's home base is ambiguous across sources — listings give a Wilmington (US) HQ while it is incorporated in Bangalore as Farmonaut Technologies Private Limited (Crunchbase).
  • AU support: No Australian office, phone line or local team that we could verify. Support is global, via email (support@farmonaut.com), with a 24/7 support claim shown on the pricing page (Farmonaut pricing). If something breaks during your harvest window, you're in a global queue.
  • GST: Not addressed by the vendor.

For a publication built on the idea that Australia should be the default, Farmonaut is a tool you adopt despite its Australian fit, not because of it.

Scoring

Criterion Score Reason
Value for Money 2/5 Mini is still genuinely cheap, but in 2026 every tier above it lost about 40% of its monitored hectares at an unchanged price — Basic 50→30 ha, Standard 125→80, Premium 500→300, Elite 2,500→1,500 — on top of USD-only pricing and no free trial.
Ease of Use 3/5 Clean per-field web and mobile apps, but JS-rendered pricing and thinly documented advice make it harder to assess than it should be.
Feature Depth 4/5 Real satellite indices, a working AI advisory layer and an open API — AI is core, and the toolset runs deep.
Australian Fit 2/5 No AUD, no AU data residency, no AU support, GST unaddressed — built for everyone, not for Australians.
Reliability & Support 3/5 Solid public-constellation data and a 24/7 support claim, but no AU SLA and honest cloud-cover/revisit caveats.

Total: 14/25 — ⭐⭐⭐ Good

Note: Farmonaut's crop-loan, insurance and carbon modules touch on financial and compliance decisions. Treat its outputs as monitoring data, not professional advice — verify anything that feeds a lending, insurance or compliance decision with a qualified professional.

Update history
  • 29 Sep 2026 — re-verified by browser; prices unchanged, tile corrected. sat.farmonaut.com/pricing (farmonaut.com/pricing redirects there): Mini $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year, Basic $29.99 / $299.99, Standard $64.99 / $649.99, Premium $224.99 / $2,249.99, Elite $949.99 / $9,499.99 — every figure holds; still a bare $ with "Prices in each plan's billing currency", no A$. The directory tile was pinned at A$7.70/mo, which is US$4.99 at the retired 1.55 basis; corrected to A$7/mo to match the table's ~AUD 7 at about 1.40. Score unchanged. Source
  • 22 Sep 2026 — the Jeevn AI page moved, and the replacement says a little more than the old one. farmonaut.com/jeevn-ai returns HTTP 404; the page is now at /jeevn-ai-personalised-farm-advisory, and the citation is re-pointed there after reading it live. The advisory categories this review lists are all present. Two small corrections fall out of the re-read. The tagline this review quoted — “from seed to harvest” — is not on the new page, so it is no longer presented as a quotation. And the live page gives rather more method detail than the old one did: irrigation plans are described as “calculated using evapotranspiration data, rainfall probability, and past irrigation records”. That is inputs, not models, so “thin documentation on the AI… no detail on the underlying models” still stands — but it is now a narrower criticism than when it was written, and worth re-reading at the next full review. No wording changed in the body and no score moved.
  • 21 Sep 2026 (pricing re-read — the prices held, the hectares did not) — Score 15/25 → 14/25, Value for Money 3 → 2. Band unchanged: ⭐⭐⭐ Good.
  • The dollar figures have not moved. Monthly is still Mini US$4.99 · Basic US$29.99 · Standard US$64.99 · Premium US$224.99 · Elite US$949.99, exactly as first reviewed. The $49.99 / $299.99 / $649.99 / $2,249.99 / $9,499.99 ladder recorded in the bullet this replaces is the annual column of the same table, which the page shows by default — it is ten times the monthly price, because annual billing gives “2 months free”. Nothing had drifted; the earlier note simply read the other column.
  • What did change is what the money buys, and it is a large cut. Every tier above Mini now monitors roughly 40% less land for the same price:

Plan Coverage when reviewed Coverage now Change
    Mini 5 ha / 5 parcels 5 ha / 5 parcels unchanged
    Basic 50 ha / 50 parcels 30 ha / 21 parcels −40% land
    Standard 125 ha / 150 parcels 80 ha / 56 parcels −36% land
    Premium 500 ha / 600 parcels 300 ha / 210 parcels −40% land
    Elite 2,500 ha / 3,000 parcels 1,500 ha / 1,050 farms −40% land

Farmonaut's own per-hectare line confirms it rather than us inferring it: Basic and Mini now both read “$1.00 per hectare / month” on the monthly toggle, where Basic at US$29.99 for 50 ha would have been about $0.60. This is the finding a price-only check cannot see — not one of the five headline numbers changed. - Why this matters more in Australia than elsewhere. The ceiling moved from 2,500 ha to 1,500 ha. Australian broadacre cropping operations routinely run larger than that, so the top published tier no longer covers a significant share of the growers this review is written for; they are pushed to the “Bigger than Elite? Size your plan” sales route, which publishes no price. - The USD claim is no longer supported by the page we cite. The string USD now appears zero times on sat.farmonaut.com/pricing; prices show a bare $, and the page's own footnote reads “Prices in each plan's billing currency · taxes may apply.” There is still no AUD figure and no currency selector (the only selector is a Google Translate language picker). USD remains the most likely reading for an international plan from an Indian vendor, and it is what this review has always said — but it is now an inference, not a quoted vendor statement, and the wording below has been softened to say so. No AUD either way. - No free plan or trial is advertised anywhere on the page — the earlier “not confirmed” finding stands, now as a positive absence. - Wayback capture could not be saved (archive.org unavailable 21 Sep 2026), so this citation carries a read date, not a snapshot. - 28 Jun 2026 — First reviewed.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free version of Farmonaut for Australian growers? We could not confirm a free plan or trial on Farmonaut's own pricing page, and none was advertised when it was re-read on 21 September 2026. The cheapest paid entry is the Mini tier at USD 4.99/month (about AUD 7 before GST), covering up to 5 hectares (Farmonaut pricing). Check the live pricing page before you sign up.

Will my farm data be stored in Australia? No. Farmonaut does not offer Australian data residency. Its privacy policy does not name a hosting region and makes no reference to the Australian Privacy Act or the Australian Privacy Principles (Farmonaut privacy policy). The company markets GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA alignment and encrypted cloud storage in its security material, but no Australian-region option is offered. Treat your data as stored offshore.

How often will I actually get a new satellite image of my paddock? It varies. Farmonaut draws on constellations like Sentinel-2 with a roughly 5-day revisit, and markets more frequent updates. But satellite visit frequency depends on your location and satellite availability, and cloud cover blocks optical imagery — so expect gaps during wet weather. The vendor doesn't publish the actual cadence an Australian grower receives on each tier.

Does the price include GST? No. Pricing is in USD and shown exclusive of any Australian GST, which Farmonaut doesn't handle in-platform. You'll need to self-assess your GST position.

Is Farmonaut worth it for a small Australian farm? If you want cheap, broad satellite monitoring and an AI advisory layer, and you can live with USD billing and offshore data, it's worth a trial. If AUD pricing, local data residency or Australian support are dealbreakers, look elsewhere first.
