Voicemod Review Australia 2026: The gamer voice-changer that grew up

The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictVerdict (TL;DR): Voicemod is the most polished real-time AI voice changer available in 2026 — low-latency voice transformation, a growing library of AI-generated voice personalities, and a soundboard that actually works during live calls and streams. Pro is genuinely cheap: the annual plan is approximately ~AUD$42/year, or a lifetime licence for ~AUD$70. The catch is narrow focus: it is Windows-only, built for gaming and streaming rather than professional voiceover, and the "AI voice cloning" feature (your own digital twin) carries the same consent obligations as every other voice-cloning tool. It is a very good tool for a specific Australian audience — streamers, Discord communities, online gamers — and the wrong tool for almost every other use case.

What Voicemod is
Voicemod is a real-time voice changer and AI soundboard developed by Voicemod S.L., headquartered in Valencia, Spain, with additional offices in the US and Asia (voicemod.com). It processes your microphone audio in real-time — as you speak — and outputs it transformed through any voice, effect, or character you select, with latency low enough that conversation is natural.
The company was founded in 2014 and has grown to more than 40 million registered users globally, primarily through the gaming and streaming communities where platforms like Discord, Twitch, OBS, and VRChat are standard. As of mid-2026 the team numbers around 117 employees.
Voicemod's core feature set covers three categories: - Voicebox: 50+ voice presets — robot, alien, chipmunk, "deep troll", cartoon characters, and a growing set of AI-generated "human-realistic" voices. - Soundboard: hundreds of triggered sound effects playable live during calls or streams. - VoiceLab: a custom voice creation tool that lets users build, blend, and save their own voice profiles.
The company has also introduced AI Humans — a collection of human-realistic voice personalities that aim to sound less like cartoon effects and more like actual different people — and real-time AI voice conversion that can transform your voice toward a target in live conversation.
What it costs in Australia
Voicemod offers a free plan and a single paid tier (Pro). There are two price lists and only one of them is published by the vendor in Australian dollars.
The Australian App Store ladder is the vendor-published one. Read from the AU listing on 21 September 2026, which declares "priceCurrency":"AUD":
| In-app purchase (AU App Store) | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 week | A$3.99 | GST included — Apple is merchant of record in Australia |
| 1 month | A$6.99 | |
| 3 months / Quarterly | A$17.99 | |
| 1 year | A$29.90 | Cheaper than the ~A$42/year our USD conversion produced |
| One Time Licence | A$54.99 and A$109.99 | Two live price points |
| Promotional SKUs | A$44.00 ("OTL 60% Super Offer") · A$76.99 ("OTP 30% Super Offer Mobile") | No strike-through shown. The A$44.00 offer reverts to the A$109.99 One Time Licence |
These are the iOS app's prices. Whether buying there entitles the Windows desktop client is not stated on the listing, so do not assume it does — check before you buy if the desktop app is what you want.
The desktop path has no published price list at all: Voicemod's website shows a "Download for Free" button and nothing else, and voicemod.net/pro/ returns a 404. The USD figures below were sourced from third-party pricing sites, are marked as such, and convert at AUD ≈ USD × 1.40. GST treatment is not stated anywhere on Voicemod's own site — confirm at checkout under Australia's imported-digital-services rules.
| Plan | Price (USD) | Price (AUD est.) | Key inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Daily rotating selection of ~a dozen voices, limited soundboard slots |
| Pro — Annual | ~$29.88/year (~$2.49/mo) | ~AUD$42/year | Full voice library (50+), unlimited soundboard, VoiceLab, cloud storage |
| Pro — Quarterly | ~$17.97/quarter (~$5.99/mo) | ~AUD$25/quarter | As above |
| Pro — Lifetime | ~$44.99 one-time | ~AUD$63 one-time | All Pro features, no recurring subscription |
Pricing based on multiple third-party sources (aisotools.com, hamsterstack.com, temperstack.com, ToolChase) as of June 2026. (estimate) — verify current pricing at voicemod.net before purchasing, as promotional pricing exists and rates may vary. Some sources report the lifetime licence at $39.99–$44.99 depending on promotion.
Value verdict: The annual Pro plan at ~AUD$42/year is exceptional value for what it delivers. The lifetime licence at ~AUD$63 is the cheapest long-term buy in the AI voice category by a wide margin. The free tier is usable but limited by the daily rotating voice selection — if you find a voice you want, you may lose it tomorrow. The paid tiers are the product.
How it works in practice
Download the Windows app, connect your microphone, select a virtual audio device as the output, and route that virtual output into your chat platform of choice — Discord, Teams, Zoom, OBS, VRChat. Any voice or effect you select in Voicemod is what your conversation partner hears. The setup takes ten minutes the first time; after that it is one click.
The AI Humans voice collection is where Voicemod has made the most progress. Previous Voicemod voices were obviously "robotic effects." The AI-generated human voices aim to pass as plausible alternative people — different accents, ages, genders — without triggering the uncanny valley. On test with several Discord sessions they hold up well for casual conversation, though extended listening reveals tell-tale AI smoothness.
The soundboard works as advertised: trigger specific sounds (applause, explosions, memes, game audio) via keyboard shortcuts during live audio. It is widely used in gaming streams and Discord roleplay communities.
Voice cloning via VoiceLab lets you build a digital voice profile — essentially a parameterised version of your own voice that can be used as a base for custom voices. This is distinct from voice cloning in the ElevenLabs or LOVO sense (cloning another real person's voice from a sample); VoiceLab is primarily about building customised voice personas from your own voice.
What it does well
- Low latency, live processing. The core technology works. Audio transformation happens in real-time without perceptible lag during live conversation — the fundamental requirement for a voice changer. This is where other tools fail and Voicemod succeeds.
- Very cheap Pro tier. ~AUD$42/year or ~AUD$63 lifetime is well below any other AI voice product in our roundup. If you only need real-time voice changing, this is the best value by far.
- Large library of effects and voices. 50+ voice presets plus soundboard and VoiceLab cover the range of what gaming and streaming communities need.
- Integrates everywhere. Discord, Teams, Zoom, Twitch, OBS, VRChat — Voicemod routes through a virtual audio device that any app on Windows sees as a microphone.
- Usable free tier. Unlike some free tiers that are barely functional, Voicemod free gives you a real rotation of voices — enough to evaluate the product before committing.
What it doesn't do well
- Windows only. There is no native macOS version. Mac users get a web-based version with limited functionality — not the same product. This is a significant limitation for Australian professionals who skew toward Apple hardware.
- Not a voiceover or TTS tool. Voicemod does not generate audio from text. It transforms your live mic input. If you want to produce an AI voiceover file from a script, Voicemod is the wrong tool — use ElevenLabs or Murf. ⚠ (LOVO's site and the Genny app have been serving a paused-deployment error since at least 24 September 2026 — see our LOVO review.)
- AI voices are still noticeably synthetic. The AI Humans collection is a genuine improvement, but extended listening reveals AI smoothness. Not a problem for gaming; possibly a problem if you're trying to genuinely fool a business caller.
- Customer support is not Australia-specific. Support runs through a help centre and email from Spain. There are no AU-hours live support options, and Australian-specific compliance information is not published.
- Free tier voice rotation is frustrating. If you use the free tier, your available voices change daily. You cannot hold onto a voice you found unless you pay.
Australian fit
Availability: Voicemod is available in Australia, on two surfaces. The product this review assesses is the Windows desktop download (voicemod.net). There is also a Voicemod app on the Australian App Store (id6473788687, seller Voicemod Inc., Sucursal en España), with no AU restriction and a full Australian price ladder — see the pricing section. (Corrected 21 Sep 2026: this line previously said "it is a Windows desktop download" and implied there was no app-store presence.) — Wayback 30 June 2026
Data: Voicemod S.L. is headquartered in Valencia, Spain. The company states it processes data in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). There is no Australian data residency, no reference to Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) compliance, and no AU-region servers publicly disclosed (no primary statement located; treat as EU/global processing). Voicemod states it processes audio locally on the device where possible and does not store voice audio persistently beyond what is required for specific features. For casual gaming and streaming, this data posture is unlikely to be a problem. For business use involving confidential conversations, the offshore processing warrants review.
Voice-cloning consent: Voicemod's VoiceLab feature is primarily designed for users to build custom voice profiles from their own voice, not to clone other people. That said, the same Australian legal risk applies: if you attempt to use Voicemod's AI voice transformation to impersonate a real, identifiable person — in a call, stream or recording — without their consent, you risk privacy complaints, potential defamation exposure, and reputational damage. The tool's Terms of Use prohibit impersonation and fraud (voicemod.net/en/terms-of-use). The legal risk is on you, not on Voicemod. — Wayback 8 June 2026
Australian accents: No dedicated Australian-English voice persona in the library. The AI Humans collection includes various English-language voices; none are promoted as Australian. This matters less for gaming (where accent realism is not the point) and more for any business-adjacent use.
GST: Not explicitly addressed in publicly available pricing — confirm at checkout whether GST is applied under Australian imported-digital-services rules.
Alternatives
- ElevenLabs — if you need text-to-speech voiceover or voice cloning for professional output, not live voice changing. Different use case, stronger voice quality, higher price.
- Resemble AI — developer-oriented voice cloning and real-time voice conversion with a more professional positioning. Suits businesses building voice into products, though its published pricing now covers deepfake detection only and the voice models ship as open-source Chatterbox.
- Murf — professional voiceover studio, not a real-time changer. Relevant only if your need is recorded voiceover rather than live audio transformation.
Bottom line
Voicemod is a well-built, genuinely inexpensive tool that does one thing exceptionally: transforms your voice in real-time during live audio. It belongs in every Australian streamer, Discord moderator, and online gamer's toolkit. The Pro plan at ~AUD$42/year or the lifetime licence at ~AUD$63 represents outstanding value for that audience.
It is not a professional voiceover tool, not a TTS platform, and not designed for business communications. The Windows-only constraint alone rules it out for a significant portion of Australian professionals. The offshore data processing and absence of an AU-accent voice library lower its Australian Fit score.
Who should buy it: Australian streamers, gamers, Discord community members, VTubers, and anyone who needs real-time voice transformation for online entertainment.
Who should skip it: Mac users (no native app), anyone wanting text-to-speech or recorded voiceover, anyone needing professional-grade voice cloning for brand or content work, anyone with hard data-residency requirements.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | ~AUD$42/year or ~AUD$63 lifetime is the cheapest AI voice product in this roundup — exceptional pricing for what's delivered. Held off five because those are our Australian-dollar figures, not Voicemod's: the vendor publishes no AUD price, and in fact publishes no public price list at all. (Was 5/5; corrected 21 Sep 2026 — see Update history.) |
| Ease of Use | 3/5 | Windows setup is straightforward but requires routing a virtual audio device — not trivially simple for non-technical users. Mac users get a stripped-down web version. |
| Feature Depth | 3/5 | Best-in-class for live voice transformation; limited outside that. No TTS, no file output from scripts, no voiceover workflow. |
| Australian Fit | 1/5 | EU/global data processing, no AU accent voices, no AU-specific compliance documentation, no AU-hours support, and no AUD price on Voicemod's own site. Not lifted by the Australian App Store ladder, because the product reviewed here is the Windows desktop client and the listing does not establish that an in-app purchase reaches it. (Rationale corrected 21 Sep 2026 — "Windows-only" was wrong, there is an iOS app; mark unchanged.) |
| Reliability & Support | 1/5 | 40M+ users globally suggests stable infrastructure. But Australian-facing support is limited, no AU-hours live help, and the free-tier rotating voice model frustrates. |
| Total | 12/25 | ⭐⭐⭐ Good |
Australian Fit gate: Australian Fit 1/5. Five-star rating requires AU Fit ≥ 4/5 — this review scores ⭐⭐⭐ Good. See Methodology.
Update history
- 25 Sep 2026 — the LOVO recommendation in this review now carries a warning. Found by sentry 12's full-corpus run:
lovo.aiandgenny.lovo.aiboth return HTTP 402 and render Vercel's “Deployment Paused” page, whileauth.lovo.aiis still inviting free signups. LOVO was re-reviewed 14/25 → 12/25 on 24 September (Dossiers/dossier-lovo-2026.md). Nothing about Voicemod changes — no figure, no score, no verdict. - 20 Sep 2026 — Resemble AI's published pricing now covers deepfake detection only. The voice rates it used to publish — text-to-speech US$0.0005/sec, Rapid clone US$2/voice/mo, Pro clone US$5/voice/mo, team seat US$20/mo — are no longer available. Voice now ships as Chatterbox, MIT open source, with an enterprise tier sold through sales. The alternatives clause naming Resemble has been updated. - 21 Sep 2026 — Correction: Voicemod does publish Australian prices — on the Australian App Store — and this review said there was no App Store presence at all. No score change. The Availability line read "There is no AU App Store or Google Play restriction — it is a Windows desktop download." There is a Voicemod app on the Australian App Store (seller: Voicemod Inc., Sucursal en España), its listing declares
"priceCurrency":"AUD", and it carries a full Australian price ladder, GST included: 1 week A$3.99 · 1 month A$6.99 · 3 months A$17.99 · 1 year A$29.90 · One Time Licence A$54.99 and A$109.99, plus promotional SKUs at A$44.00 ("OTL 60% Super Offer") and A$76.99 ("OTP 30% Super Offer Mobile"). Read the promo line carefully — the A$44.00 offer has no strike-through anywhere; the figure it reverts to is the A$109.99 One Time Licence, so record both. What this changes and what it does not. It settles a queued Verification-Standard problem in part: this review's figures were sourced from third-party pricing sites because Voicemod publishes no public web price list, and we now have vendor-published Australian figures from a primary source. It also shows our conversion was too high — we published "~AUD$42/year" for the annual plan, and Voicemod's own Australian annual price is A$29.90. Value for Money holds at 4/5 rather than returning to 5/5, because the AUD prices belong to the iOS app, and the product this review assesses is the Windows desktop voice changer. Whether an in-app purchase entitles the desktop client is not something the listing settles, and moving a score on an unresolved product-scope question is the error this whole pass exists to correct. Australian Fit holds at 1/5: "Windows-only" in its rationale is now wrong and is corrected, but the four failures that carry the mark — EU/global data processing, no AU accent voices, no AU compliance documentation, no AU-hours support — are untouched, and the vendor still publishes no AUD price on its own site. Found by the app-store pricing pass,Audits/app-store-pricing-2026-09-21.md. Source · Wayback: capture pending (archive.org unavailable 21 Sep 2026). - 21 Sep 2026 — Value for Money corrected 5/5 → 4/5. Total 13/25 → 12/25. The band does not change: ⭐⭐⭐ Good. Our Value for Money criterion asks three things — fair price, useful free tier, AUD pricing — and this review's Value for Money row answered only the first, in Australian dollars we converted ourselves: "~AUD$42/year or ~AUD$63 lifetime." Voicemod publishes no AUD price. The Australian Fit row below scores 1/5 partly for the same reason. A 5/5 was never available.
- 21 Sep 2026 — ⚠ Pricing could not be re-verified from a primary source, and no figure has been changed.
voicemod.net/pricing/was read today and carries no prices at all — a "Download for Free" call to action and nothing else;voicemod.net/pro/returns 404. Voicemod appears to show pricing only in-app after install. Third-party listings for the Pro subscription and lifetime licence were found and deliberately not used: under our Verification Standard a price needs the vendor's own page, and a key-reseller marketplace is not one. This review's own sources line already concedes the figures are "based on third-party pricing sources as of June 2026". Queued: re-verify from Voicemod's own checkout, or mark the figures as unverified. That is a sourcing problem independent of the score above. Frequently asked questions
Is Voicemod available in Australia?
Yes, Voicemod is available in Australia as a Windows desktop application. There is no native macOS version — Mac users get a more limited web-based experience. Voicemod is developed by a Spanish company (Voicemod S.L., Valencia) and processes data under GDPR, not Australian Privacy Principles.
How much does Voicemod Pro cost in Australian dollars?
It depends which Voicemod you buy. For the iOS app, yes and precisely: the Australian App Store lists A$3.99 a week, A$6.99 a month, A$17.99 a quarter, A$29.90 a year and a One Time Licence at A$54.99 or A$109.99, all GST-inclusive on an Apple tax invoice, with promotional SKUs at A$44.00 and A$76.99. For the Windows desktop client, no — Voicemod publishes no price list on its own website at all, so the desktop figures in this review are third-party readings: approximately USD$29.88/year (~AUD$42 before GST) and a lifetime licence at approximately USD$44.99 (~AUD$63 before GST). Confirm at checkout, as promotional rates apply.
Can I use Voicemod to clone someone else's voice?
Voicemod's VoiceLab feature lets you build custom voice profiles, primarily from your own voice. Using any AI voice tool — including Voicemod — to impersonate a real, identifiable person without their explicit consent is prohibited by Voicemod's Terms of Use and carries significant legal risk in Australia under the Privacy Act 1988. Always obtain documented consent before creating any AI voice profile modelled on a real person.
