LOVO / Genny Review 2026: The Site and the App Are Paused
- From
- unreachable — lovo.ai and genny.lovo.ai are both paused · the marketing site and the product front end both return HTTP 402 DEPLOYMENT_DISABLED; the prices below were never vendor-verified
The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictPricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).
Verdict (TL;DR): As of 24 September 2026 you cannot reach LOVO's site or the Genny app — both serve a paused-deployment error — while its login page still invites free signups. See the correction above before acting on anything below. As reviewed in June: LOVO's Genny platform is a credible one-stop voiceover and video tool — 500+ voices, solid voice cloning, an integrated video editor, and a 14-day pro trial that lets you test before committing. It is not the cheapest route in, and the Australian story is thin: billing is USD-only, there's no AU data residency, no Australian-English accent bank to match ElevenLabs, and the Basic plan at ~AUD$34/month makes it pricier than comparable tools. Use it if you want a single platform for scripting, voiceover and basic video. Look elsewhere if you want best-in-class voice quality, predictable AUD pricing, or an Australian data footprint.
Score: 12/25 — ⭐⭐⭐ Good (re-scored 24 September 2026)
Last reviewed: 26 June 2026 by Adam.
⚠ Correction, 24 September 2026: LOVO's website and the Genny app are both switched off. Re-scored 14/25 → 12/25.lovo.ai,www.lovo.ai,lovo.ai/pricingandgenny.lovo.ai— the product this review is about all return HTTP 402 Payment Required fromServer: Vercel, bodyDEPLOYMENT_DISABLED. In a browser all of them render Vercel's “Deployment Paused — This deployment is temporarily paused” page.
And the half that is still up is taking signups.api.lovo.aiserves a live LOVO API PORTAL which redirects toauth.lovo.ai, where a working login form is headed “AI Voiceover & Text-to-Speech Platform — 150+ voices in 33 languages” and “Create your FREE account NOW!”. So a reader who follows this review hits a hosting error, while a reader who finds the login page is invited to create an account for a product whose front door is closed.docs.,status.andsupport.all 404.
This is not our network and not bot-blocking. DNS is entirely intact and a second, independent resolver confirms it — Google's DNS-over-HTTPS resolves all three hosts, withapi.lovo.aion AWS and the paused ones on Vercel, which is exactly why one half survives. Nothing has been deleted; this is a disabled project, not a dismantled estate. And 402 is not 403: four vendors returned 403 to a plain fetch today and every one loaded normally in a browser, so the check was made in a browser too.
⚠ The prices below were never the vendor's, and now they cannot be checked. This review says so in its own pricing section: the ladder was “derived from multiple third-party pricing aggregators including Capterra, G2 and aisotools.com”, with an instruction to “verify at lovo.ai/pricing before purchasing”. That instruction can no longer be followed, because that page is one of the paused ones. Under §13 an aggregator is a ⭐ supporting source and never a basis for a price, so the figures stand below as a dated record of what third parties reported in June — not as prices we vouch for.
We are not calling it discontinued. There is no announcement, no successor and no rename, and the auth service is live and selling — so “discontinued” would be a claim the evidence contradicts. What can be said is that today you cannot reach the product or its price. The outage cannot be dated more tightly than 9 July to 24 September: that is the newest Wayback capture of the domain, and Save Page Now has refused since 18 September.
The page is kept and corrected rather than deleted. Full research:Dossiers/dossier-lovo-2026.md.
What LOVO / Genny is
LOVO is a US-based AI voice company headquartered in Berkeley, California. Its main product is Genny — an all-in-one platform that combines AI text-to-speech, voice cloning, an online video editor, an AI scriptwriter, and an AI image generator inside one web app (lovo.ai). — Wayback 27 June 2026
The core pitch is consolidation: instead of running separate tools for script, voiceover and video, Genny handles all three. The voice library sits at "500+ voices in 100+ languages," and the company claims more than 2,000,000 registered users (lovo.ai/genny). LOVO launched a "Pro V2 Voices" model in mid-2026, which the company describes as "truly directable, expressive AI voice generation" controlled via natural-language instructions rather than manual sliders (lovo.ai — Pro V2 release). — Wayback 27 June 2026
For Australian users it is primarily useful for: corporate training videos, marketing voiceovers, explainer content, social media clips, and podcast intros. It is not a real-time voice changer (see Voicemod) and is not designed for music production (see Kits AI). Its closest competitors in AU are ElevenLabs, Murf, and Play.ht.
What it costs in Australia
⚠ Unreachable since at least 24 September 2026, and never vendor-verified. The figures here are a dated record of what third-party aggregators reported in June 2026; lovo.ai/pricing now returns HTTP 402 and cannot confirm or correct them. As reviewed: LOVO bills in US dollars only. The figures below convert at AUD ≈ USD × 1.40 and do not include GST. Under Australia's imported-digital-services rules, expect approximately 10% GST on top at checkout. Confirm the invoice carries an ABN reference before claiming the GST credit back.
(exact plan details derived from multiple third-party pricing aggregators including Capterra, G2, and aisotools.com as of June 2026; verify at lovo.ai/pricing before purchasing as LOVO does not publicly surface plan tables without logging in)
| Plan | Price (USD/mo, billed monthly) | Price (AUD est. ex-GST) | Key inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 14-day Pro trial, then limited credits |
| Basic | ~$24 | ~AUD$34 | ~2 hours voice generation/mo, commercial rights |
| Pro | ~$48 | ~AUD$67 | Higher credits, voice cloning (up to 5 clones) |
| Pro+ | ~$149 | ~AUD$209 | Unlimited voice clones, priority rendering |
| Enterprise | Quote | Quote | Custom credits, SLA, dedicated support |
Annual billing reportedly offers approximately 50% off the monthly rate (based on third-party pricing sources; verify at lovo.ai/pricing).
Value verdict: Basic at ~AUD$34/month before GST is a steeper entry than ElevenLabs Starter (~AUD$9 + GST) or Murf's Basic tier. You pay more for the bundled video editor and scriptwriter — a fair trade if you use them, a waste if you just need voice. The free trial is the right starting point: 14 days of the Pro plan is enough to know whether the integrated workflow justifies the premium.
How it works in practice
The workflow runs entirely in a browser. You create a project, paste or write a script (or use the built-in AI writer), pick a voice from the library, then generate audio. The built-in video editor lets you add subtitles, sync the audio to footage, and export — without touching a separate tool like CapCut or DaVinci.
The Pro V2 Voices engine is the most interesting recent update. Instead of using emotion sliders or tags, you instruct the voice in plain language — "read this slowly and warmly" — and the model attempts to follow. On typical marketing copy this works reasonably well; on nuanced scripts the results vary, and multiple regenerations are common. It is a genuine step toward more controllable TTS, but it is not yet at the reliability of ElevenLabs' Eleven v3 inline tags.
Voice cloning requires one minute of audio at Basic level (instant clone) and longer recording sessions for professional-grade cloning on Pro and above. Cloned voices are stored in your account and usable across projects.
What it does well
- Integrated workflow. Script, voice, subtitle, video — handled in one platform. For time-poor small business owners who want a complete voiceover video without juggling four apps, Genny removes real friction.
- 500+ voices across 100+ languages. The library is large. Most language families are covered, and the variety within English is reasonable.
- Pro V2 directability. Natural-language voice direction is a meaningful usability improvement over endless slider-tweaking, even if it is not yet perfect.
- Generous free trial. 14 days of full Pro access is more than most competitors offer. You can stress-test the workflow for two weeks at no cost.
- Quick voice cloning. The instant clone path (one-minute sample) is fast enough to be genuinely useful in production.
What it doesn't do well
- No dedicated Australian-English accent bank. The voice library spans US, UK and generic "English" voices. Australian-accented voices exist in the broader library but are not prominently surfaced and are fewer in number than ElevenLabs' dedicated AU selection. Content aimed at Australian audiences may sound subtly offshore.
- Pricing is hard to verify. LOVO does not surface plan pricing without logging in; we relied on third-party aggregator data, G2, and Capterra to estimate costs. This opacity makes budget comparison harder than it should be.
- USD billing only. No AUD pricing, no local invoicing. Every charge involves an FX conversion and GST is added on top — meaning the true cost exceeds the headline USD figure by 20–25%.
- Voice quality trails ElevenLabs. At the same price point, ElevenLabs' Eleven v3 voices are more natural-sounding. LOVO's voices are good, not best-in-class.
- No offline or local processing. Everything runs server-side. If connectivity drops, work stops.
- Rendering can be slow on Basic. Priority rendering is reserved for Pro+ users; Basic and Pro users queue behind them.
Australian fit
Data residency: LOVO is a US-based company (Berkeley, CA). Its privacy policy reflects US law, including rights under California's CCPA. There is no Australian data residency option, no AU-region servers disclosed on the public site, and no reference to compliance with Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) (no primary statement located; treat data as processed in the US). For most marketing and training content that does not involve personal data, this is unlikely to be a blocker. For content involving identifiable Australians — say, cloning the voice of a staff member for onboarding videos — it adds risk.
Voice-cloning consent (important): Under the Privacy Act 1988 and the emerging body of Australian case law around biometric and voice data, cloning a real person's voice without their explicit, documented consent is a significant legal and reputational risk. LOVO's Terms of Service require that users "have all necessary rights and consents" before uploading a voice sample for cloning (lovo.ai/tos). That is a legal obligation on you, not on LOVO. If you are cloning a real person's voice — a presenter, a staff member, yourself — get written consent, document it, and keep the record. Cloning a third party's voice without consent can expose you to privacy complaints, defamation claims, and reputational damage regardless of the tool you use. — Wayback 28 July 2026
GST: Added at checkout for Australian accounts under imported-digital-service rules. Budget on AUD est. + 10%.
Australian accents: Available in the library but not a promoted feature. Not as strong as ElevenLabs for AU-specific accent quality.
Alternatives
- ElevenLabs — better voice quality, stronger AU-accent support, cheaper entry (~AUD$9/mo + GST). Missing the integrated video editor, but the voice itself is superior. Pick ElevenLabs if voice naturalness is the priority.
- Murf — similar category, hour-based pricing is more predictable than credit systems. Murf is the calmer budget choice if you produce consistent monthly output.
- Play.ht — strong voice library including some Australian-English voices, API-first for developers, competitive pricing. Worth comparing directly at the Pro tier.
Bottom line
LOVO's Genny is a capable all-in-one platform for voiceover and video, and the Pro V2 directability update is a genuine improvement in usability. But it charges a premium for the integrated workflow, its Australian story is thin (no AU data residency, limited AU-accent depth, USD-only billing), and on raw voice quality ElevenLabs is the stronger product for a lower entry price. Genny earns its place for users who genuinely want the integrated script-to-video pipeline in one browser tab. If you just need great-sounding voices, you're overpaying for features you won't use.
Who should buy it: Marketing teams, training content creators, and small businesses that want a single app for scripting, voiceover and video — and who value workflow consolidation over best-in-class voice quality.
Who should skip it: Anyone who wants the best-possible voice naturalness (go ElevenLabs), anyone on a tight AUD budget (go Murf), anyone with hard AU data-residency requirements (no tool in this category clears that bar, but some have better privacy frameworks).

| Ease of Use | 4/5 | The integrated workflow is genuinely well-designed. Script to voiced video in one tab is as easy as this gets. |

The site and the app are paused; 14/25 → 12/25. Found by sentry 12's full-corpus run an hour after the HTTP 402 rule was added for Cognosys — the rule's second catch on its first pass. Value for Money 2 → 1: the figures were never vendor-verified, the review told readers to confirm them at
lovo.ai/pricing, and that page now returns 402, so a price that cannot be confirmed for a product that cannot be reached is the floor. Reliability & Support 3 → 2: the 3/5 rested on “large user base (2M+ claimed) suggests reasonable uptime”, an inference now contradicted by direct observation. Not 1/5, and the distinction from Cognosys is deliberate — LOVO's DNS is intact and its API portal and auth service are up, so the vendor is partly operating rather than dark, where Cognosys had its app subdomain removed from DNS outright. Ease of Use 4, Feature Depth 3 and Australian Fit 2 all held: the first two are a dated record of the Genny workflow, and nothing about the outage is Australian-specific. Frequently asked questions
Is LOVO AI available in Australia?
Yes, LOVO's Genny platform is accessible to Australian users via the web. However, it bills in USD only, GST is added at checkout under Australia's imported-digital-services rules, and there is no Australian data residency. Data is processed on US-based servers.
How much does LOVO cost in Australian dollars?
Based on third-party pricing sources as of June 2026, LOVO's Basic plan is approximately USD$24/month (~AUD$34 before GST), the Pro plan approximately USD$48/month (~AUD$67 before GST), and the Pro+ plan approximately USD$149/month (~AUD$209 before GST). Annual billing offers approximately 50% savings. Figures are ex-GST: a GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add ~10%. at an Australian checkout. Confirm current prices at lovo.ai/pricing.
Does LOVO support Australian English voices?
LOVO's library of 500+ voices includes some Australian-English options, but Australian accents are not a prominently marketed feature. The selection is more limited than ElevenLabs, which dedicates a specific collection to Australian-accent voices. Content intended for Australian audiences may sound subtly offshore if the right voice is not carefully selected.
