The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).

Verdict (TL;DR): Taskade is a genuinely clever all-in-one workspace — tasks, mind maps, docs and a stable of AI agents that actually do work, not just chat about it. The free tier is unusually generous and the paid Starter plan undercuts almost everyone at US$6/mo (around A$8/mo before any GST). But there's no Australian data hosting and the security credentials are still "in progress" rather than certified. A strong pick for solo operators and small AU teams who can live with US-dollar billing and US-region data.

Score: 16/25 — ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good

Last reviewed: 20 June 2026 by Adam.

Earlier editions of this review: 20 Jun 2026 — 16/25. This is edition 2, dated 21 Sep 2026. We keep every edition so you can see how the tool and our verdict have moved — how and why.

What Taskade is

Taskade is a productivity workspace that bundles several tools most people pay for separately: task lists, kanban boards, mind maps, calendars, collaborative documents and — the headline act — AI agents you can build and set loose on your own data.

The pitch is "one prompt to production." You describe what you want, and Taskade's AI scaffolds a project, a workflow, or even a small app around it. Its agents use retrieval over files you upload (PDFs, spreadsheets, CSVs), so you can build something like a "GST bookkeeping assistant" that only answers from your own documents rather than guessing.

Under the bonnet, Taskade routes across 15+ models from four providers — OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini and open-weight options — and picks one per task, so you don't manage API keys yourself.

It competes with Notion, ClickUp and Asana, but leans harder into AI agents than any of them.

What it costs in Australia

On taskade.com, Taskade prices in US dollars only, billed through Stripe. There is no AUD billing option and no Australian pricing page, and GST treatment isn't stated on the billing FAQ — Stripe typically adds Australian GST at checkout for AU consumers, but Taskade doesn't confirm this, so treat the GST line below as an estimate. (Corrected 21 Sep 2026 — this paragraph previously said there was no AUD billing option at all. There is one, in the app.)

AUD figures use our standard ~1.40 exchange rate, shown ex-GST. Monthly billing shown; annual saves 20%.

Plan Price (USD/mo) Approx AUD (ex-GST) AI credits/mo Seats
Free US$0 A$0 3,000 (one-time) 1
Starter US$6 ~A$8 10,000 3
Pro US$16 ~A$22 50,000 10
Business US$40 ~A$56 150,000 Unlimited
Max US$200 ~A$280 400,000 Unlimited
Enterprise US$400 ~A$560 1,100,000 Unlimited

Source: taskade.com/pricing, checked 20 June 2026. AUD figures are conversions, not billed prices. Taskade's pricing page and billing FAQ make no mention of GST, so whether Australian GST is added at checkout is unconfirmed — treat the AUD column converted, not a billed total.

In the app, the same plans are priced in Australian dollars — and the annual rate is cheaper.

The Australian App Store listing declares "priceCurrency":"AUD" with Taskcade Inc. as seller of record. Read 21 September 2026:

Plan (in-app) Monthly Yearly Against the web
Starter A$12.00 (a second tier lists A$12.99) A$79.00 (a second lists A$99.99) A$79/yr ≈ A$71.80 ex-GST vs ~A$100 on the web — cheaper; monthly is dearer
Plus A$25.00 A$149.00 No direct web equivalent — compare inclusions
Pro A$29.99 (a second tier lists A$59.00) A$299.99 Roughly level with ~A$22/mo on the web
Business A$79.99 — Roughly level with ~A$56/mo on the web

GST is included in every one of those figures and Apple issues the tax invoice, which settles the GST question the web path leaves open. Buy annually in the app, monthly on the web — and check plan inclusions rather than assuming the names map across.

The free plan is the standout. Most rivals give you a hobbled free tier; Taskade hands you 3,000 AI credits, three deployable apps and the full agent builder to try. For a solo Australian operator, Starter at roughly A$8/mo is sharp value.

One catch worth flagging: everything AI runs on credits, and credits burn faster on heavier models and complex tasks. Heavy agent users on Starter's 10,000/mo can hit the ceiling. Budget for Pro if agents are central to your work.

How it works in practice

Sign-up to a working project takes about five minutes. You type a goal — say, "plan a product launch" — and Taskade generates a structured project with tasks, subtasks and assignees. You can flip the same content between a list, a board, a mind map and a calendar without rebuilding it, which is genuinely useful when you think in outlines but your team thinks in boards.

The AI agents are the real differentiator. Building one takes a few minutes: name it, give it instructions, upload reference files, pick which tools it can use. I built a test agent fed three supplier PDFs and it answered pricing questions from those documents in seconds, citing the source file. That's a real time-saver versus copy-pasting into a generic chatbot.

Automations chain it together — a trigger fires an agent, which updates a task, which notifies a teammate. It's not as deep as a dedicated tool like Zapier, but it covers the common cases.

What it does well

  • Real all-in-one. Tasks, docs, mind maps, calendar and chat live in one workspace. You genuinely can drop two or three separate subscriptions.
  • Agents that act, not just chat. Retrieval over your own files means answers grounded in your documents, with far less hallucination than a bare chatbot.
  • Unusually generous free tier. 3,000 AI credits and three apps with no card required — rare in this category.
  • Sharp entry pricing. Starter at US$6/mo (~A$8) undercuts Notion AI, ClickUp and Asana for a small team.
  • Fast to value. Five minutes from sign-up to a structured, AI-built project. No manual is needed.

What it doesn't do well

  • No AUD billing on the web. Buy at taskade.com and you're charged in US dollars via Stripe, so your card issuer adds a foreign-transaction fee (usually 2–3%) on top and the AUD cost drifts with the exchange rate. Buy in the iPhone or Android app and you pay Australian dollars with GST included — Starter A$79.00/year, which is cheaper than the web. (Corrected 21 Sep 2026.)
  • No Australian data residency. Infrastructure runs across AWS regions with no AU option named. Your data — and any files you feed agents — likely sits in US regions. A real concern for anyone handling client or regulated data.
  • Security is "in progress," not certified. Taskade's own page says SOC 2 Type II and GDPR alignment are "in progress" — efforts, not completed certification. For risk-averse AU businesses that matters.
  • Credit anxiety. Every AI action spends credits, and the heavier models drain them quickly. The pricing is predictable; your monthly usage is not.
  • Jack of all trades. It does many things well and nothing better than the category leader. Power users of any single tool (deep databases, Gantt charts) will find Taskade shallower than a specialist.

Australian fit

This is where Taskade slips, though less far than we first wrote. There is AUD billing — the Australian App Store sells every plan in Australian dollars with GST included, Starter at A$12.00/month or A$79.00/year — so the currency and GST complaints only apply to the web checkout. What does not change: no AU data hosting, no Australian support presence. None of the outputs are Australia-aware out of the box — though, because you build your own agents, you can instruct one to use Australian spelling, AUD and local context, which partly closes the gap.

For a Melbourne sole trader or a small marketing team that doesn't handle sensitive client records, none of this is a deal-breaker — the US billing is a mild annoyance, not a blocker. But for anyone in finance, legal, health or HR holding regulated Australian data, the lack of data residency and completed compliance certification is a genuine problem. Check your obligations before uploading client files.

Australian Fit scores 3/5: usable here and buyable in Australian dollars, but built with no thought for Australians specifically and with nothing onshore. (Was 2/5; corrected 21 Sep 2026 — see Update history.)

Alternatives

  • Notion — more polished docs and databases, a bigger ecosystem and templates. Weaker on autonomous agents, and also US-billed.
  • ClickUp — deeper project-management muscle (dashboards, time tracking, Gantt) for bigger teams. Heavier to learn; Taskade is friendlier for solo operators.
  • ChatGPT — if you only want the AI assistant and not the workspace, a standalone chatbot is simpler and cheaper.

Bottom line

Taskade is one of the better-value AI workspaces going, and the most credible attempt yet at folding "your to-do list" and "your AI team" into a single app. For a solo Australian operator or a small, non-regulated team, the free tier is worth ten minutes of your time and Starter is easy to justify.

The reasons it doesn't earn five stars are Australian ones: no AUD billing, no local data residency, and compliance that's still a work in progress. Use it for general productivity and content work — not for anything holding sensitive client or regulated data until the security certifications land.

Score

Criterion Score Note
Value for Money 4/5 Generous free tier; Starter at ~A$8/mo undercuts most rivals, though credits can run out.
Ease of Use 4/5 Five minutes from sign-up to a working AI-built project; no manual needed.
Feature Depth 4/5 Genuine all-in-one with agents that act on your data, but shallower than specialists.
Australian Fit 3/5 Real AUD billing across the whole ladder on the Australian App Store (Starter A$12.00/mo or A$79.00/yr), GST included on an Apple tax invoice, and the annual rate undercuts the web. Still no AU data residency, no local support, and no Australia-aware output by default. (Was 2/5; corrected 21 Sep 2026 — see Update history.)
Reliability & Support 2/5 Multi-region AWS with failover, but SOC 2/GDPR only "in progress" and no AU support.

Update history
  • 21 Sep 2026 — Australian Fit corrected 2/5 → 3/5. Total 16/25 → 17/25. The band does not change: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good. This review's Australian Fit row read "No AUD billing, no AU data residency, GST undocumented, not Australia-aware by default" — four named failures, two of which are wrong. The Australian App Store listing declares "priceCurrency":"AUD", names Taskcade Inc. as seller and sells the whole ladder in Australian dollars with GST included: Starter A$12.00/month or A$79.00/year, Plus A$25.00 or A$149.00, Pro A$29.99 or A$299.99, Business A$79.99/month. Apple is merchant of record, so the GST that this review called "undocumented" is in the number and the receipt is a valid tax invoice. And the annual rate passes the Leonardo test: A$79.00/year for Starter is about A$71.80 ex-GST against roughly A$100 for the same plan on the web (US$6/month × 12 at ~1.40). Monthly is the other way — A$12.00 is about A$10.90 ex-GST against our ~A$8 web figure — so annual buyers should use the app and monthly buyers the web. The two failures that stand are the ones that matter to a regulated business: no Australian data residency (AWS regions with no AU option, SOC 2 Type II still "in progress") and no Australia-aware output by default. Those keep it at 3/5, below the Australian Fit threshold, so Taskade remains ineligible for a category Top Pick. Value for Money holds at 4/5. Was 16/25, was Australian Fit 2/5. • 20 Jun 2026 — First reviewed.
  • 24 Sep 2026 — The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was. The header read “gross-up; GST unconfirmed” and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, 141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10. No figure changed here; only the description of them did. Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: gross-up names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and GST unconfirmed is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. No USD price moved and no score changed. reviewed: untouched per our dating rule.

Frequently asked questions

Is Taskade available in Australia?

Yes. Taskade is a web, desktop and mobile app available to Australian users with no region restriction. There's no Australian support presence, but the tool itself works fine here — and the iPhone and Android apps bill in Australian dollars with GST included.

Does Taskade charge in AUD?

It depends where you buy. On taskade.com, no — Taskade bills in US dollars through Stripe with no AUD option, your card issuer will likely add a 2–3% foreign-transaction fee, and GST treatment isn't documented, so treat any AUD figure there converted. In the iPhone or Android app, yes: Starter is A$12.00/month or A$79.00/year, Plus A$25.00 or A$149.00, Pro A$29.99 or A$299.99 and Business A$79.99/month, all in Australian dollars with GST included on an Apple tax invoice. The annual rate is cheaper in the app; the monthly rate is cheaper on the web.

Is there a free plan or trial?

Yes, and it's unusually generous. The free tier gives you 3,000 AI credits, three deployable apps and the full agent builder with no card required. Paid plans start at US$6/mo (~A$8) for Starter.

Is Taskade safe for handling Australian client data?

Be careful. There's no Australian data residency — infrastructure runs across AWS regions with no AU option — and SOC 2 Type II and GDPR alignment are only "in progress," not certified. Fine for general work; check your obligations before uploading regulated client files.

Who is Taskade best for?

Solo Australian operators and small, non-regulated teams who want tasks, docs and AI agents in one app — and who can either live with US-dollar billing on the web or buy the app-store plan in Australian dollars. Power users of a single specialist tool will find it shallower than the category leader.
