Verdict in one line: The most credible challenger yet to the Meta/Google ad duopoly for small advertisers — currently fenced off from Australian cards.

What launched

On 31 March 2026 ad-tech firm Criteo opened its GO platform to full self-service: SMBs and growth-stage commerce brands can create an account, enter billing details and launch a campaign "in as few as five clicks." GO unifies display, video, native and social in one campaign, with AI optimising spend across them and built-in generative tools producing and adapting the creative — video included.

What it does

Think Performance Max, but not owned by Google — Criteo even hired a Google Performance Max veteran to commercialise it. You set the goal and budget; the platform decides placement mix and generates format variants. Criteo reports campaigns with social activation delivering 20%+ higher return on ad spend than traditional configurations — vendor numbers, but directionally consistent with what cross-channel automation does for small accounts.

Pricing for Australians

Media-spend based — you bring an ad budget, not a subscription. And here's the problem: at launch, self-service GO is available in the US and UK only, with "expansion planned to additional markets across 2026." No Australian availability, no AUD billing, no announced AU date — we're watching Criteo's newsroom for the rollout.

Australian Fit

1/5 — it isn't here. We're reviewing it anyway because Australian e-commerce operators should know what's coming: when GO opens locally, it becomes the first serious self-serve alternative for retailers tired of feeding the duopoly.

Early read

Good: one budget across four channel types with AI arbitrage between them is the right product for a small advertiser; built-in creative generation removes the real blocker (assets, not budgets). Not so good: not available here; retail-media networks live on shopper data, so the privacy posture deserves scrutiny before you connect customer lists; and Criteo's retargeting heritage means brand-safety defaults need checking rather than trusting.

Early verdict

Bookmark, don't budget. If you sell online in Australia, put GO on your watch list and revisit the moment an AU launch lands — we'll flag it in the newsletter when it does.

Update history
  • 9 Oct 2026 — Re-checked for the AUD-claim queue (#452), criteo.com/go read in a browser on an Australian connection: the page offers "Get started" and "Book a call" with no price, no minimum spend, no currency and no statement of which countries can use self-service GO, so the media-spend model and the no-AUD-billing finding stand and the US/UK-only launch note could not be re-tested from the page. No claims re-verified this pass. Capture: Dossiers/captures/criteo-go-pricing-2026-10-09.txt.

Frequently asked questions

Is Criteo GO available in Australia?

No. At launch, self-service GO is available in the US and UK only, with expansion to additional markets planned across 2026. There's no Australian availability and no announced AU date yet.

Does Criteo GO charge in AUD?

There's no AUD billing. GO is media-spend based — you bring an ad budget rather than pay a subscription — but with no Australian launch there's no local billing in place.

Who is Criteo GO for?

Australian e-commerce and growth-stage commerce brands tired of feeding the Meta/Google ad duopoly. It unifies display, video, native and social in one AI-optimised campaign — but only worth acting on once it launches locally.

Should I sign up now?

No — bookmark, don't budget. Put GO on your watch list and revisit the moment an AU launch lands.
