Moises Review Australia 2026: The musician's AI that bills in plain AUD
- From
- A$9.99/mo · Premium via the Australian app stores, GST included · A$69.99/yr · Pro A$49.99/mo · free tier available
- Your data
- None for Australia. US vendor, global transfers; EU Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/Swiss data.
The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictVerdict (TL;DR): Moises is the tool to reach for when you want to pull a real recording apart — mute the vocal to sing over it, isolate the bass to learn the line, or lift a clean drum stem to sample. The separation quality is the best in any consumer app, and the surrounding kit (chord and key detection, a smart metronome, pitch and tempo change, lyric transcription) makes it a genuine practice room, not a gimmick. For Australians it lands better than almost any US AI tool: buy it through the App Store or Google Play and you pay in AUD with GST already included, on a local tax invoice. The free tier is enough to try it; Premium at AUD$9.99/month is the tier most musicians should buy; Pro at AUD$49.99/month is for producers who need lossless Hi-Fi stems and the plugin. The honest catches: no Australian data residency, no local support, and the newer generative features are less mature than the core. For Australian musicians, students and teachers, it's an easy recommendation.

What Moises is
Moises is an AI tool for musicians, built around one very good trick and a lot of useful ones around it. The core trick is stem separation: feed it any song and it splits the mix into isolated parts — vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, strings — that you can mute, solo, or export. Around that sit the tools you'd actually use in a practice session: chord and key detection, a smart metronome and click-track, pitch shifting, a speed/tempo changer for slowing a fast passage down, lyric transcription, mastering, and even synced video recording. Newer generative add-ons (Stem Generation in "AI Studio", vocal models in "Voice Studio") round it out, though those are the least mature part.
It's made by Moises Systems (part of Music.ai), claims 70 million users, and has the awards to back the polish: Apple's iPad App of the Year 2024, an Apple Design Awards 2025 finalist, and a 2025 Microsoft Store "Best Music App" award. It runs as a web app, a macOS/Windows desktop app, and native iPhone, iPad and Android apps — so it follows you from the studio to the rehearsal room.
One fact matters for the whole AI-music conversation: Moises says it never trains on your uploads and only trains its models on licensed material. That sidesteps the copyright cloud hanging over the AI song generators — Moises isn't generating music from scraped catalogues, it's pulling apart the recording you already have.
What it costs in Australia
Here's the part that sets Moises apart for Australians. Because it sells through the Apple App Store and Google Play, an Australian buyer sees native AUD prices that already include GST, billed by Apple or Google with a local tax invoice. No USD card, no "taxes calculated at checkout" guesswork.
| Plan | Price (AUD, App Store, GST inc.) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Vocals/drums/bass separation, chord detection, metronome, pitch shifting, BPM detection, setlists — with monthly upload limits |
| Premium | AUD$9.99/mo or AUD$69.99/yr (≈ $5.83/mo) | Unlimited separation + the full instrument set (incl. lead/rhythm and acoustic/electric guitar, main/background vocals), full practice tools, lyric transcription, advanced web features |
| Pro | AUD$49.99/mo | Everything in Premium plus Hi-Fi separation (48kHz/24-bit, lossless WAV), pro stem modules (individual drum parts; dialogue/music/effects), up to 180 minutes per upload, full Voice Studio, and the DAW/VST plugin |
| Group | Multi-seat (price shown after login) | Premium/Pro features shared across a family, band or group |
Pricing as of 3 June 2026, from the Australian Apple App Store in-app listing (native AUD, GST-inclusive). Annual Premium ($69.99) works out to about $5.83/month. If you subscribe through the Moises website instead of the app stores, prices sit behind login and may differ — the App Store route is the AU-friendly one.
Value verdict: The free tier is genuinely useful, not a teaser, and Premium at AUD$9.99/month is fair value for unlimited full-instrument separation plus the whole practice kit — for most musicians, that's the tier to buy. Pro at AUD$49.99 is a big jump and really only earns its keep for producers who need lossless Hi-Fi stems, long uploads and the plugin.
How it works in practice
Upload a song — from your library, a file, or a link — and Moises separates it in a few steps. From there you mute the vocal to sing over the backing, solo the drums to learn a groove, or pull the bass out to transcribe a line. The chord detection labels the changes as you play; the metronome locks to the track; the speed changer lets you slow a tricky solo to half-pace without dropping the pitch, or transpose to a friendlier key. For a learning or gigging musician, that combination — clean stems plus practice tools, on your phone — is the whole appeal, and it's well executed.
Pro's Hi-Fi separation is the meaningful upgrade for serious users: 48kHz/24-bit models with lossless WAV export, which is the difference between "good enough to practise to" and "clean enough to use in a production." The VST/DAW plugin brings separation into your existing setup rather than making you bounce files in and out of a web app.
The weakest links are the newest features. Stem Generation (AI Studio) and Voice Studio are interesting, but they're add-ons bolted onto a tool whose heart is separation and practice — treat them as bonuses, not the reason to buy.
What it does well
- Best-in-class separation for a consumer app. Clean vocal, drum, bass, guitar, piano and string stems from a single upload — the core job, done better than the free alternatives.
- A real practice room, not just a splitter. Chord and key detection, a smart metronome, pitch and tempo change and lyric transcription make it genuinely useful for learning and rehearsing.
- It bills Australians in AUD with GST included. Bought through the App Store or Google Play, you pay a native AUD price on a local tax invoice — a rarity among US AI tools and a real friction-remover.
- A clear, honest data policy. "Never trains on your data; only trains on licensed material" is a strong, primary-stated position that sidesteps the copyright fight around AI music generators.
- It's everywhere you practise. Web, desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android, with Apple's 2024 iPad App of the Year polish to match.
What to watch out for
- No Australian data residency. It's a US vendor with global data transfers; there's no AU hosting region. Fine for a hobbyist, a consideration for an institution.
- No local support. Help centre, a support form and community only — no AU office or business hours.
- No AU-relevant certifications. GDPR rights are honoured, but there's no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or IRAP advertised. That matters if you're buying for an organisation.
- The generative add-ons are immature. AI Studio and Voice Studio are early; the core separation engine is the reason to buy, not them.
- Pro is a steep step up. AUD$49.99/month is five times Premium, so be sure you actually need Hi-Fi WAV, long uploads and the plugin before paying for them.
Australian fit
- Available in Australia: Yes — sold on the AU App Store and Google Play, plus web and desktop.
- Pricing in AUD: Yes — native AUD via the app stores (Premium $9.99/mo, Pro $49.99/mo).
- GST: Included. App Store / Google Play prices shown to Australians are GST-inclusive, with the tax invoice issued by Apple/Google AU.
- Data residency: None for Australia. US vendor, global transfers; EU Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/Swiss data.
- Local support: None AU-specific — help centre and community.
- Training on your data: No. Moises states it never trains on your uploads and only trains on licensed material.
Alternatives

| LALAL.AI | A purer, slightly cleaner stem splitter with one-time minute packs if you only separate occasionally and don't want a subscription. (Read our LALAL.AI review →) |

| Ultimate Vocal Remover (free) | The honest free pick for stem separation if you're comfortable with a more technical, do-it-yourself setup and don't need the practice tools. |
Bottom line
For an Australian musician, student or teacher, Moises is an easy yes. It does the hard thing — splitting a real song into clean, playable stems — better than anything else at the price, wraps it in practice tools you'll actually use, and, unusually for a US AI tool, charges you in plain AUD with GST already in the number. Start on the free tier today; if you practise or learn by ear, Premium at AUD$9.99/month is the one to buy and the best value in this category.
It scores 19 rather than higher for honest reasons. There's no Australian data residency and no local support, so an organisation with strict requirements will need to look harder. The Pro tier is a steep jump that only producers will justify. And the headline-grabbing generative features are the least convincing part of the app. None of that dents the core recommendation — for getting clean stems and practising smarter, Moises is our pick in the produce-and-practise half of this category. We'll refresh this if the pricing or the data policy moves.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | Genuinely useful free tier; Premium at AUD$9.99/mo is fair for unlimited full-instrument separation. Pro at $49.99 is steep but producer-grade |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Upload-and-split in a few taps; polished apps across web, desktop, iOS and Android; Apple's 2024 iPad App of the Year |
| Feature Depth | 4/5 | Deep core (separation, chords, metronome, pitch/tempo, Hi-Fi, VST) plus newer, less-mature generative add-ons |
| Australian Fit | 4/5 | Native AUD, GST-inclusive App Store billing and a "never trains on your data" policy; loses one mark for no AU data residency, support or certification |
| Reliability & Support | 3/5 | 70M users and award-winning polish, but support is web/community only and there's no AU presence |
| Total | 19/25 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good |
Update history
- 21 Sep 2026 🇦🇺 Currency verified by browser — native AUD through the app stores, confirmed. The Australian App Store storefront lists Premium Monthly $9.99, Premium Yearly $69.99 and Pro Monthly $49.99 (the AU iTunes lookup returns
"currency":"AUD"), matching this review exactly. Two notes: the listing also shows higher variants — Premium Monthly $10.99, Premium Yearly $76.99, Pro Monthly $54.99 — which is how Apple displays a price rise part-way through a grandfathering window, so expect these to move; and the web product atmoises.aicarries JSON-LDpriceCurrency: "USD", so Moises is AUD through the app stores and USD on the web. This review is about the app-store path and says so.aud_native: trueset explicitly. No score change. - 2 Sep 2026 — Pricing re-verified against the AU App Store listing: unchanged — Premium AUD$9.99/mo / AUD$69.99/yr and Pro AUD$49.99/mo remain the primary GST-inclusive AUD prices, and website pricing still sits behind login. Note: higher-priced SKUs (Premium $10.99/mo and $76.99/yr, Pro $54.99/mo) now also appear in the listing's in-app purchase metadata — a possible price rise for new subscribers; we'll update if it lands.
