Beatoven.ai Review Australia 2026: Is Ethical AI Music Worth It?
- From
- A$14/mo · ex-GST · billed in USD (US$10)
The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictPricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).
Verdict (TL;DR): Beatoven.ai is the AI music tool to use when you need safe, royalty-free background music for a podcast, YouTube video or ad — and you want to avoid the copyright-claim risk that follows tools trained on scraped songs. It's "Fairly Trained" certified, the licence is clean, and the text-to-music workflow is genuinely fast. But it makes background beds, not songs with vocals, the billing is USD-only with no AUD or GST handling, and your audio is processed on India-based infrastructure. Good for AU content creators who value licence safety over chart-topping output.
Score: 16/25 — ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good

What Beatoven.ai is
Beatoven.ai is an AI music generator built for content creators, not musicians. You describe the mood, genre and instruments you want — or feed it text, audio or a video — and it composes an original instrumental track you can drop under a podcast, YouTube clip, ad or game.
The company is an Indian startup, founded in 2021 by Mansoor Rahimat Khan (a seventh-generation sitar player) and Siddharth Bhardwaj, headquartered in Bengaluru. It says it has generated over 15 million tracks for more than 2 million creators.
The pitch that sets it apart: it is certified by Fairly Trained, a non-profit that audits AI companies to confirm their training data is properly licensed and the musicians who contributed are paid. In a market where Suno and Udio are fighting copyright lawsuits, that's not a footnote — it's the whole reason an Australian business might pick Beatoven over a flashier rival.
What it costs in Australia
Beatoven.ai bills in US dollars. There is no AUD pricing, no Australian billing entity, and GST is not itemised at checkout — as an imported digital service it will typically attract 10% GST, which an ABN-registered business may be able to claim back.
| Plan | Price (USD) | Approx AUD (ex-GST) | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trial | Free | — | A handful of generations per month to test the models |
| Creator (monthly) | US$10/mo | ~A$14/mo | 30 download minutes/mo, unlimited generations, advanced editing, exclusive licence |
| Creator (yearly) | US$100/yr | ~A$140/yr | As above, billed annually |
| Visionary (monthly) | US$20/mo | ~A$28/mo | 60 download minutes/mo, unlimited generations, advanced editing, exclusive licence |
| Visionary (yearly) | US$200/yr | ~A$280/yr | As above, billed annually |
| Buy Minutes (pay-as-you-go) | US$3/min | ~A$4/min | Pay per download minute, no subscription |
The AUD column is a conversion at the publication's 1.40 exchange rate. Treat it as indicative only: Beatoven bills in USD with no GST itemised at checkout, so the exact GST treatment on your card statement isn't something we can confirm from the vendor. On the licence, the pricing page lists an exclusive licence as a feature of both paid tiers (Creator and Visionary), while Beatoven's site describes the standard downloaded-track licence — the one that applies on the free and pay-as-you-go options — as non-exclusive and perpetual.
How it works in practice
You start with a prompt. Type something like "calm lo-fi piano for a morning routine vlog, 90 seconds" and the Maestro model returns a finished instrumental in under a minute. You can also go the structured route — pick genre, mood and instruments from menus — or convert existing audio or a video into a matching score.
Once you have a draft, a text-based editor lets you adjust tempo, swap the genre, shift the mood, or change the intensity across sections of the track. There's also a separate sound-effects tool, Maestro SFX, that generates foley and effects from a text prompt — useful if you're scoring a game or a punchy ad.
Exports come as MP3 or WAV. The practical workflow for a Melbourne podcaster: generate a 2-minute bed, tweak the intro and outro intensity, download the WAV, drop it into your edit. Ten minutes, no music licensing email chain. The catch is the download-minutes cap — 30 minutes a month on Creator goes quickly if you're producing daily.
What it does well
- Licence safety you can actually trust. The Fairly Trained certification and clean, perpetual licence mean you're not gambling on a future copyright claim. For an AU business publishing commercially, that's worth more than a marginally better-sounding track.
- Fast, genuinely usable background music. Text-to-music returns a finished instrumental in well under a minute, and the output sits politely under voice — which is exactly what background music should do.
- Real editing control. The text-based editor for tempo, mood and per-section intensity beats the "regenerate and pray" loop of cheaper generators.
- A free tier and pay-as-you-go. You can test the models for nothing, and the Buy Minutes option suits anyone who needs music a few times a year rather than monthly.
- Sound effects in the same tool. Maestro SFX means you're not bouncing between a music generator and a separate foley library.
What it doesn't do well
- It does not make songs. No vocals, no lyrics, no radio-ready tracks. This is background instrumental music only. If you want a full song with a singer, Beatoven is the wrong tool — look at Suno.
- USD-only, no AU footing. No AUD billing, no GST invoice, no Australian support presence. You'll wear card foreign-transaction fees and exchange-rate drift on every charge.
- Data is processed offshore, in India. There is no Australian or even regional data residency. For most background-music use that's a non-issue, but any business with data-handling obligations should note it.
- Download minutes are stingy. 30 minutes a month on the A$14 tier disappears fast for a daily creator, and overage at ~A$4/minute adds up.
- You can't release tracks to streaming. Beatoven's own site states it does not allow direct distribution of its tracks on streaming platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music — the music is for backing your content, not for putting out as standalone music. (A podcast or video with the music embedded is fine; the bare track is not.)
Australian fit
This is where Beatoven scores honestly low. There is no AUD billing, no GST-compliant invoice at the point of sale, no Australian data residency, and no local support. Audio is processed on the company's India-based infrastructure. None of that breaks the tool for a podcaster scoring episodes — background music isn't sensitive data — but it does mean Beatoven treats Australia as just another foreign card.
The redeeming factor for AU creators is the licence. The clean, ethically trained, royalty-free output removes the single biggest local headache: copyright claims on monetised YouTube and podcast content. That's a genuine Australian benefit, even if it isn't an Australia-specific feature. On the gate test, Australian Fit lands at 2/5, so five stars is off the table regardless of the raw total.
Alternatives
- Suno — if you want actual songs with vocals and lyrics, not background beds. More impressive output, but a murkier training-data and copyright story.
- Udio — another full-song generator in the same vein as Suno; same trade-off of quality versus licence certainty.
- A royalty-free stock library (Epidemic Sound, Artlist) — not AI, but a deep human-made catalogue with clear licensing if you'd rather pick from a shelf than prompt.
Bottom line
Buy Beatoven.ai if you're an Australian content creator — podcaster, YouTuber, marketer — who needs safe, royalty-free background music on tap and wants zero copyright risk on monetised content. The Fairly Trained certification and clean licence are the real product here, and the text-to-music workflow is fast enough to fit a daily publishing routine.
Skip it if you want songs with vocals (go to Suno), if USD-only billing with no GST invoice is a dealbreaker for your bookkeeping, or if you produce so much audio that 30–60 download minutes a month won't stretch. For its actual job — clean instrumental beds you'll never get a copyright strike on — it does the work well, and the four-star rating reflects that, held back only by its weak Australian footing.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | Free tier + pay-as-you-go + ~A$14/mo entry is fair; download caps are the catch. |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Prompt-to-track in under a minute; the text editor is genuinely simple. |
| Feature Depth | 3/5 | Strong at background music and SFX, but no vocals, lyrics or songs at all. |
| Australian Fit | 2/5 | No AUD, no GST invoice, no AU data residency; processed in India. Clean licence is the only AU upside. |
| Reliability & Support | 3/5 | Established since 2021 with millions of tracks served, but no local support and offshore infrastructure. |
| Total | 16/25 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good |
Gate note: Australian Fit is 2/5, so the rating is capped below five stars by policy regardless of raw total. [See Methodology.]
Update history
- 9 Oct 2026 — Housekeeping: replaced internal editing references in this history with plain wording. No fact, price or score changed.
- 24 Sep 2026 ⚠ Beatoven's pricing page is a 404 — linked from its own homepage — so none of the figures below can be verified. Checked 24 September 2026 in a browser on an Australian connection, twice.
beatoven.ai/pricingreturns “Page Not Found — the page you are looking for doesn't exist or has been moved”, and the Beatoven homepage still links to it. The product itself is alive and trading — the site loads, markets the generator and claims “2 million+ creators generated over 15 million tracks” — so this is a broken link on the vendor's own site, not a shutdown. The practical effect for an Australian is the same either way: there is currently no way to see what Beatoven costs before signing up. No figure below has been changed. They were read on 20 June 2026 and are cited to a Wayback capture of the page taken 7 June 2026, which still resolves — but a June capture cannot evidence a September price, and there is no live page to check it against. Treat the table as unverified from 24 September 2026 until the vendor restores the page. We're tracking it for a re-check.aud_native: false— no AUD price existed when the page last worked, and none can be found now. - 20 Jun 2026 — First reviewed.
- 21 Sep 2026 — ⚠️ Beatoven has taken its pricing page down, and the price table below no longer has a live source.
www.beatoven.ai/pricingreturns a genuine Webflow 404 (the response carries Webflow’s own404reqmarker and a “Not Found” title, so this is not a bot block), and/pricingis absent frombeatoven.ai/sitemap.xmlaltogether — the page has been deleted, not moved. No successor was found:/price,/plansand/subscriptionall 404, and there is no app subdomain serving one. Beatoven’s own website still links to it — the footer under Product points at/pricing— which is why search engines still show it as live. It isn’t. What this costs the review: the Trial / Creator / Visionary plan names, the US$10 and US$20 monthly prices, the 30 and 60 download-minute allowances, the US$3-per-minute pay-as-you-go rate and the exclusive-licence claim on the paid tiers all came from that page and none of them can now be verified against anything Beatoven publishes. The nearest Wayback capture is 7 June 2026, before this review, so it cannot stand in for the 20 June check either. Value for Money scored 4/5 on those figures. Nothing has been deleted, rewritten or re-scored here — the gap is named rather than papered over, and a full price re-check is queued; a vendor that removes public pricing has usually changed it. The homepage, About page and licence wording cited alongside it are all still live and unaffected. No same-day capture — archive.org was returning “Temporarily Offline” and HTTP 429 on 21 September 2026. - 24 Sep 2026 — The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was. The header read “gross-up; GST unconfirmed” and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, 141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10. No figure changed here; only the description of them did. Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: gross-up names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and GST unconfirmed is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. No USD price moved and no score changed.

Frequently asked questions
Is Beatoven.ai available in Australia?
Yes — it's a web tool usable from anywhere. But there's no Australian footing: no AUD billing, no GST-compliant invoice at the point of sale, no Australian data residency, and no local support. Audio is processed on the company's India-based infrastructure.
Does Beatoven.ai charge in AUD?
No. Beatoven bills in US dollars, so you'll wear card foreign-transaction fees and exchange-rate drift on every charge. GST isn't itemised at checkout — as an imported digital service it will typically attract 10% GST, which an ABN-registered business may be able to claim back. Paid plans start at US$10/month.
Is there a free plan or free trial?
Yes — a free trial gives a handful of generations a month to test the models. There's also a pay-as-you-go "Buy Minutes" option at US$3/minute, which suits anyone who needs music a few times a year rather than monthly.
Can I use Beatoven tracks safely on monetised content?
Yes — that's its main selling point. Beatoven is "Fairly Trained" certified (training data properly licensed) with a clean, perpetual royalty-free licence, so you avoid the copyright-claim risk that follows tools trained on scraped songs. Note you can't release the bare tracks to Spotify or Apple Music — they're for backing your content.

Australian content creators — podcasters, YouTubers, marketers — who need safe royalty-free background music on tap. It does not make songs: no vocals, no lyrics, instrumental beds only. If you want a full song with a singer, look at Suno instead.
