Clari vs Gong for Australian Sales Teams 2026: Forecasting or Coaching?

By Adam · 28 Jun 2026 · 7 min read
Head-to-head verdict

Our pick: Gong. The verdict below says who should buy the other.

Winner: depends on your altitude. Choose Clari if your pain is forecasting blindness — you live in deal risk and quarter-end accuracy. Choose Gong if your pain is coaching reps at scale off what they actually say on calls. For the typical Australian sales director who has to pick one, Gong is the safer first buy. It is more accessible, scores higher overall (16/25 vs 15/25), and solves a problem every sales team has. Clari is the right call only when forecasting is the board-level fire.

What both tools actually do

Both sit on top of your sales team's daily activity and turn it into something a leader can act on. That is where the overlap ends. They solve the problem from different heights.

Clari is a revenue forecasting and pipeline platform. It connects to your CRM, ingests deal data, and builds a live picture of what is in your pipeline and what your quarter-end number will be. The job it is built for is forecast accuracy and early deal-risk detection. A RevOps lead or sales VP lives in Clari. Since the December 2025 Salesloft merger, Clari also bundles conversation intelligence (Clari Copilot) and sales engagement (Groove), but forecasting is the core.

Gong started as conversation intelligence and still leads that category. It joins your Zoom, Teams or Meet calls as a notetaker, records and transcribes them, then reads across a whole deal to flag risk and surface what your best reps do differently. The job it is built for is coaching at scale. A frontline sales manager lives in Gong. It has since grown forecasting and engagement modules, but the call is its home turf.

Put simply: Clari answers "will we hit the number?" Gong answers "why is this rep not closing, and what does my best closer do instead?" Both have crept onto each other's lawn, but each is clearly better at its origin job.

Pricing in Australia

Here the two tools are frustratingly identical, and not in a good way. Neither publishes a price. Both confirmed quote-only as of 28 June 2026.

Gong's pricing page states only the shape: licences are "priced per user" with "a platform fee based on the number of users supported." No per-seat figure, no currency, no free tier. Clari's page is the same — a "Get a quote" call-to-action and no published numbers at all.

For an Australian buyer, that means three things apply to both:

  • No AUD billing. Both are US vendors contracting in USD. You carry currency risk for the life of the contract.
  • No reliable AUD conversion is possible, because no per-user figure is disclosed. Whatever the quote, it lands in USD and before GST. As imported B2B services, an Australian business will generally account for GST itself under the reverse-charge rules — confirm the treatment with your accountant before signing.
  • No self-serve, no trial. You cannot test either without a sales call, and you cannot compare value until you have two written quotes in hand.

One honest difference: independent buyer benchmarks suggest Clari's full stack runs heavier, with reported annual contracts that start high and climb fast for enterprise deployments. Those are third-party estimates, not vendor figures, so treat them as a directional warning rather than a number. The practical takeaway is that Clari is the more enterprise-weighted commitment of the two.

Where Clari wins

  • Forecast accuracy is genuinely best-in-class. For a complex, multi-stage sales cycle, the gap between a 70%-accurate and a 90%-accurate forecast has real dollar value. Clari's models are the strongest available for this one job.
  • Pipeline visibility without pestering reps. Deal-risk scores surface stalling or quiet opportunities. Your leaders see deal health without weekly check-ins.
  • It speaks to the CFO. Clari produces revenue forecasts that hold up in a board meeting. If your problem is being blindsided at quarter-end, that is the whole point.
  • Revenue AI Agents and an MCP server (2026). Agents that act on pipeline data, exposed to Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, point at where enterprise RevOps is heading.

Where Gong wins

  • Best-in-class coaching off real calls. Gong turns "my gut says this rep needs help" into "here is exactly what your top performers do that this rep doesn't." That is specific and immediately useful.
  • Low-friction capture. It joins calls, transcribes, summarises and syncs to CRM with almost no rep effort. Notetaking effectively disappears.
  • A problem every team has. Every sales team has reps who could close more. Not every team has a forecasting crisis. Gong's core job has broader appeal.
  • Higher overall score and a stronger compliance stack. Gong scores 16/25 to Clari's 15/25, and carries SOC 2 Type 2 plus a deep ISO set including ISO 42001 for AI management.
  • No merger overhang. Clari is mid-integration with Salesloft, with no published unified roadmap as of June 2026. Gong is not asking you to bet on a product that doesn't fully exist yet.

Australian fit

Neither tool is built for Australia, and both pay for it in our scoring. This is the section where local buyers should slow down.

Data residency. Clari processes data on US servers with no published Australian localisation. Gong stores data in the US (default) or EU on AWS, with no AU region. For a government, finance or health buyer with data-sovereignty obligations, that is a hard constraint on both, not a footnote. Gong also carries no advertised IRAP assessment, which matters for regulated and public-sector buyers.

Support. Clari enterprise accounts get a dedicated Customer Success Manager, but the team is US-based — time-zone misalignment is real for onboarding and incidents. Gong is thinner still: self-serve Help Center and a request form, with no Australian business-hours line found.

GST. Neither itemises Australian GST in a local invoice. Both are imported services. Budget GST on top and confirm the reverse-charge treatment with your accountant.

The scores reflect this. Clari rates 3/5 on Australian Fit; Gong rates 2/5. Under our Methodology and the Australian Fit gate, neither clears the ≥4/5 bar required to be named a five-star tool or an unconditional category Top Pick. Both are recommended conditionally, for well-resourced AU sales orgs that can already stomach USD enterprise contracting.

Which to pick — decision framework

The choice is not really Clari versus Gong. It is what is on fire.

  • If your pain is forecasting blindness — you are getting surprised at quarter-end, your CFO doesn't trust the number, deals die without warning — buy Clari. That is its core job and it does it better than Gong.
  • If your pain is rep performance — your top closers are great, the rest of the team isn't, and you can't coach off recordings fast enough — buy Gong. Coaching at scale is its home turf.
  • If you have both problems and a small budget, start with Gong. It scores higher, is the more accessible buy, and call coaching lifts the whole team's numbers, which indirectly improves the forecast anyway.
  • If you have both problems and an enterprise budget (50+ reps, dedicated RevOps, Salesforce as system of record), Clari's combined stack covers more ground in one contract — but only once the Salesloft integration story is clearer. Today, that bet carries roadmap risk.

A useful tell: who is asking for the tool? If it is the RevOps or sales-ops leader, the answer is usually Clari. If it is the frontline sales manager, it is usually Gong.

The verdict

For the typical Australian sales director forced to pick one, the answer is Gong.

It wins on the maths (16/25 to 15/25), it is the more accessible buy, and it solves a problem every sales team has rather than one only some teams face. The merger uncertainty hanging over Clari is the deciding tiebreaker: buying Gong today does not require betting on a product architecture that, by Clari's own internal description, is "years away" from being unified.

Clari is not the loser here — it is the specialist. If forecasting accuracy is your board-level fire, and you have the reps, the RevOps headcount and the budget to match, Clari is hard to beat at that one job. But that is a narrower buyer. For everyone else, Gong is the first revenue-AI tool to put on the shortlist.

The honest caveat that applies to both: get a written quote, push hard on the platform fee, confirm GST treatment with your accountant, and negotiate data residency at contract stage. Neither tool will hand you AUD pricing, an Australian data region or a local support line. On that front, the Australian buyer loses either way.

Frequently asked questions

Clari or Gong — which is better for an Australian sales team?

It depends on your pain. Choose Clari if forecasting accuracy and deal risk are your problem — it is built for the RevOps leader. Choose Gong if coaching reps off recorded calls is the priority — it is built for frontline managers. For the typical Australian sales director picking one, Gong is the safer first buy: it scores higher (16/25 vs 15/25), is more accessible, and solves a problem every sales team has.

How much do Clari and Gong cost in Australia?

Neither publishes a price. Both are quote-only, billed in USD, and annual. Gong uses a per-user licence plus a platform fee; Clari is fully custom-quoted. There is no AUD billing, no free trial, and no GST-inclusive local invoice. Australian buyers account for GST under reverse-charge rules and should confirm treatment with their accountant.

Do Clari or Gong store data in Australia?

No. Clari processes data on US servers with no published Australian region. Gong stores data in the US (default) or EU on AWS, also with no Australian region and no advertised IRAP assessment. For government, finance or health buyers with data-sovereignty requirements, this is a hard constraint that must be negotiated at contract stage.

USD-to-AUD context uses approx. 1.40 (September 2026); no per-unit AUD conversion is possible because neither vendor publishes a per-user price. GST is not included in either vendor's contract — Australian buyers account for it under reverse-charge rules.
