SE Ranking Adds AI Search Tracking: What It Means for Australians (2026)
Updated: 23 June 2026 · Category: AI Search & Visibility (AEO/GEO)
What changed
SE Ranking has built out a dedicated AI Search Toolkit, anchored by its AI Visibility Tracker, for tracking how brands appear in AI-generated answers. It covers five answer engines — Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity — and reports brand mentions (linked and unlinked), which domains the engines cite, competitor visibility, and historical trends. There's a free check (5 attempts a day) before you hit the 14-day trial or a paid plan. (Note: as at the snapshot below, all five engines are listed as live with none flagged "coming soon," and Claude is not yet a tracked engine — confirm exact coverage on the plan you buy.) This is the answer-engine optimisation (AEO) discipline we've scoped as a new category — tracking whether AI assistants name your business, and what they say. SE Ranking now folds it into the same suite as its rank tracking and site audit.
What it means for Australians
SE Ranking already rates as one of the more affordable SEO suites — its Core plan runs US$103.20/month on annual billing (US$129 monthly), roughly A$144/month, a little under Semrush's entry SEO plan (about A$164/month on annual billing, re-checked 29 September 2026). AI search tracking is included in the base plans (Core tracks 100 prompts daily, Growth 250), with a paid AI Search add-on at US$89/month monthly or US$71.20/month on annual billing (about A$100–A$125/month) lifting that to 200–1,000 prompts. The practical upshot: for an Australian small business that wants both SEO and AEO, this may be the cheapest way to get them on one bill. The pure-play AEO tools — Profound, Otterly, Peec — bill separately and only do AEO. SE Ranking lets you check your AI visibility without adding a second subscription, which matters when budgets are tight.
The catch is the same one from our full SE Ranking review: USD-only billing, no GST tax invoice, offshore data storage, and support hours that land in the Australian evening. The new feature doesn't move any of that.
Does it change our recommendation?
Not the core verdict — SE Ranking stays a strong-value SEO suite with weak local fit (15/25, Good). What the AEO feature does is give it a second job. In the new AI Search & Visibility (AEO/GEO) category, the honest framing is: check whether the SEO tool you already pay for now covers AEO before buying a pure-play. If you're already on SE Ranking, you likely have a usable AI-visibility tracker sitting in your dashboard — start there. If you want lighter, AEO-only monitoring, Otterly is the cheaper standalone entry; if you want a free first look, HubSpot's AI Search Grader costs nothing; and Profound remains the serious pure-play benchmark. SE Ranking's pitch is the bundle — one bill, both disciplines, decent value.
We'll score it properly against the field in the upcoming AEO roundup.
