Triple Whale Review 2026: Serious Ecommerce Analytics for Australian Shopify Brands Willing to Pay for It

The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictThe verdict: Triple Whale is the most capable attribution and analytics platform available to Shopify merchants, and its May 2026 Moby 2 launch pushes it firmly into AI automation territory — generating ad creative, running campaign optimisations, and surfacing profit anomalies without waiting to be asked. For Australian brands doing over $500K annually in GMV, it is a serious tool worth serious consideration. The problems are real but predictable: it prices in USD only, bills on a 12-month commitment, stores your data in the US, and provides support during US East Coast business hours. None of that disqualifies it, but it means Australian operators should go in with eyes open. Score: 17/25 — Very Good.
What it is
Triple Whale is an ecommerce data platform built primarily for direct-to-consumer brands selling through Shopify. Founded in 2021 by three former ecommerce operators — AJ Orbach, Maxx Blank, and Ivan Chernykh — and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, the company has grown to serve 60,000+ brands tracking over $65 billion in annual revenue across 80+ countries.
The core problem it solves: ad platforms lie. Google says it drove that sale. Meta says it drove that sale. Your email platform says it drove that sale. Triple Whale installs its own first-party pixel directly on your storefront, processes over 9 billion events daily, and cross-references pixel data with raw Shopify order data to tell you where revenue actually came from — bypassing browser-cookie limitations and ad platform self-interest.
In May 2026 Triple Whale launched Moby 2, a rebuilt AI layer that goes beyond answering questions to taking action. Moby 2 can generate and publish ad creative directly to Meta, automate weekly reports, and run campaign optimisations without a human in the loop. That is a meaningful shift for any business owner who currently spends Sunday afternoons staring at dashboards.
The platform officially supports Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce, with integrations across 60+ ad channels and tools including Meta, Google, TikTok, Klaviyo, and Attentive. WooCommerce and BigCommerce support launched more recently and remains in beta — functionality is more limited than the native Shopify experience.
What it costs in Australia (AUD, GST unconfirmed)
Triple Whale prices in USD — though not on the pricing page, which names no currency. Its terms do, and the hedge is the vendor's: fees are “generally due in US Dollars”. There is no AUD billing option. All prices below are converted at approximately ×1.40, so treat them converted guide rather than a quote. Triple Whale's Terms of Service (Section 3.2) make all fees exclusive of taxes and place responsibility for any sales, use, GST or similar taxes on the customer. Whether Triple Whale itself adds Australian GST at checkout is not stated on its pricing page. Australian businesses purchasing a digital service from an overseas provider should seek their own advice on GST obligations and keep their own records.

Billing notes: - Paid plans require a 12-month subscription commitment. Monthly billing is available on annual contracts; prepaying annually adds two months free. - There is no monthly rolling option for paid plans. - No free trial is offered beyond the permanent free tier. - Pricing scales with GMV at higher revenue tiers — the published Foundation rate of US$219/mo applies at entry GMV; larger brands may be quoted higher. - GST treatment: Triple Whale's Terms of Service (Section 3.2) make fees exclusive of taxes and put responsibility for any sales, use, GST or similar taxes on the customer. Whether Triple Whale itself adds Australian GST at checkout is not stated on its pricing page. Australian customers should seek independent advice on their own GST obligations when purchasing from this overseas supplier.
How it works / features
Triple Pixel is the foundation. Install it on your store and it captures conversion events using both client-side and server-side tracking, so it works even when users have ad blockers, hardened browsers, or VPNs. It then reconciles pixel data with Shopify's raw order API in real time to attribute each sale accurately.
Attribution modelling covers first-click, last-click, and multi-touch models. You can switch between them and see how each one would reframe your channel performance. This is genuinely useful when deciding where to shift budget.
Custom dashboards and SQL editor (Foundation and above) let analysts and owners build views that match their business — breaking P&L by product, channel, customer cohort, or any combination.
Post-purchase surveys add a qualitative layer: after checkout, customers are asked how they found the brand. This supplements pixel data in cases where attribution is uncertain (podcast listeners, offline word-of-mouth, dark social).
Moby 2 (launched May 2026) is the AI operating layer. On Foundation it acts as an analyst — you ask it questions in plain language and it pulls from your connected data. On Automate it becomes an agent: running weekly reports automatically, identifying underperforming campaigns and pausing them, building audience recommendations, and generating ad creative (hooks, headlines, copy, images) pushed directly to Meta. Three pre-built "Specialist" agents cover media buying, creative direction, and conversion optimisation.
Sonar Send enriches email flows with attribution data. It identifies high-intent customers based on pixel behaviour and fires Klaviyo automations at precisely the right moment — in one Triple Whale case study, pet brand Paw.com reported a 14.2% lift in incremental Klaviyo flow revenue after enabling it. That is a single vendor-published result, not an across-the-board average.
Founders Dash is free forever and designed for executives who need a business overview without deep analytics. It includes a summary board, email reports, web analytics, and basic benchmarks.
What it does well
Attribution accuracy is the headline feature. When your Meta pixel is overclaiming conversions and your Google dashboard says something contradictory, Triple Whale's first-party pixel gives you a single source of truth. For any brand running paid media across more than one channel, this pays for itself quickly.
Moby 2 is genuinely useful for time-poor operators. The ability to automate weekly reporting removes a Sunday-afternoon chore. The campaign anomaly detection catches budget bleed without requiring a daily dashboard check. For a business owner who is not a full-time media buyer, this is the most practical AI feature in the market at this price point.
The LSKD case study is directly relevant to Australian operators. LSKD, an Australian activewear brand, used Triple Whale's Moby agents to detect over A$100,000 in fraudulent affiliate commissions and lift blended ROAS by 40% — a gain Triple Whale frames as roughly A$8M in additional revenue without increasing ad spend year-on-year. Those figures come from Triple Whale's own case study, so read them as a vendor-reported best case rather than an independently audited result. Outcomes at this scale are not typical, but they illustrate the ceiling.
The free tier delivers real value. You get Triple Pixel, first/last-click attribution, a 12-month data lookback, and 10 users at no cost. For brands under $500K GMV, starting here costs nothing and still meaningfully improves attribution over relying solely on Meta or Google's own reporting.
Multi-platform scope is broader than competitors. 60+ integrations covering ad platforms, email tools, and retention platforms (Klaviyo, Attentive, Omnisend, Postscript, TikTok, Microsoft Ads) means the dashboard can genuinely replace a morning of tab-switching.
Where it falls short
The pricing commitment is a significant ask. US$219/mo (~A$307) on a 12-month contract is a meaningful expense for a business doing $500K–$1M in revenue. If Shopify's native analytics or a lighter tool would cover 80% of your needs, Foundation is hard to justify until you are running real paid media across multiple channels.
WooCommerce and BigCommerce support is still in beta. If your store runs on either platform, Triple Whale does not deliver the same reliability or depth it provides on Shopify. Australian businesses running WooCommerce — common for brands that started on WordPress — will hit limitations quickly.
Moby AI automation requires active ownership. The platform rewards operators who engage with it, set up agents, and iterate on workflows. Buy it and ignore it and you will see minimal return. This is not a tool for passive installation.
Support is US East Coast business hours only. Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM EST, with an eight-hour response commitment under Triple Whale's published SLA. For an Australian operator, that window is Monday to Friday, midnight to 8 AM AEST (or 2–10 AM AEDT in summer). A support issue on a Tuesday morning Australian time does not get addressed until Wednesday morning your time. Peak periods such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday overlap directly with Australian trading peaks, so factor the timezone gap into any escalation that has to wait for US business hours.
Pricing scales with GMV at enterprise scale. The published rates are entry-level. Larger brands are quoted custom pricing, which means the cost of staying on the platform rises as your business grows. This is not unusual in the category, but Australian brands should model total cost at their projected GMV before committing.
No AUD billing and GST status is unclear. You will be charged in USD. Currency fluctuations affect your effective monthly cost. Whether GST is added at checkout is not confirmed on Triple Whale's pricing page — and given the ATO's rules on digital services from offshore providers, it should be.
Australian fit
Triple Whale operates in 80+ countries and is genuinely available to Australian merchants. That said, "available" and "built for Australia" are different things.
Data residency: Your data is stored and processed in the United States, Europe, and Israel. There is no Australian data region, no option to elect where your data is held, and the privacy notice does not reference Australia specifically. For most ecommerce merchants this is manageable — your Shopify data, Klaviyo data, and Meta data all live offshore already. But if your business is in a regulated sector or your customers are sensitive about offshore data handling, note this clearly.
Pricing currency: USD only. No AUD invoicing. The USD/AUD rate adds exchange-rate risk to a 12-month commitment. At the current rate of approximately 1.40, Foundation costs roughly A$307/mo — but that number moves with the dollar.
GST: Triple Whale's Terms of Service (Section 3.2) make fees exclusive of taxes and shift responsibility for any GST or similar tax to the customer. Whether Triple Whale itself adds Australian GST at checkout is not stated on its pricing page. Australian businesses should seek independent advice on their GST obligations when buying from this overseas digital supplier.
Support hours: US Eastern time. No AU-timezone support. No 24/7 option outside Enterprise. For a business running peak campaigns during Australian hours, this is a real gap.
AU market knowledge: Moby AI and the platform's analytics are not AU-aware in any bespoke sense. The tool does not understand Australian retail calendar nuances (e.g., EOFY in June, mid-year sale season) unless you configure prompts accordingly. The LSKD case study confirms the platform works well for Australian brands — it just does not do anything specifically because you are Australian.
AUD billing: Not available. No discount, no local pricing, no AUD invoicing.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 3/5 | US$219/mo (~A$307) on a 12-month contract is justified at $1M+ GMV with real paid media; hard to justify below $500K. Free tier is strong, but the gap between free and Foundation is large. |
| Ease of Use | 3/5 | Dashboard is well-designed and onboarding is guided. But Moby 2 agent setup, SQL editor, and multi-touch model configuration require real engagement. Not a passive tool. |
| Feature Depth | 5/5 | First-party pixel attribution, Moby 2 AI agents, multi-touch modelling, Sonar Send, 60+ integrations, post-purchase surveys, P&L views, and Founders Dash. At this price point, the feature set leads the category for ecommerce analytics. |
| Australian Fit | 2/5 | Available worldwide, used by Australian brands (LSKD), but: USD-only billing, US data hosting, US-hours-only support, no GST confirmation, no AU-specific features. Functionally usable; not built for Australia. |
| Reliability & Support | 4/5 | 99% uptime SLA, SOC 2 Type 2 at Enterprise tier, established compliance frameworks. Support SLA is clear but limited to US business hours — a genuine gap for AU operators. 60,000+ brands in production is a credibility signal. |
| Total | 17/25 |
★★★★ Very Good (17/25)
Australian Fit gate: Raw score is 17/25. Australian Fit scored 2/5, which is below the 4/5 gate required for ★★★★★ Excellent — the five-star rating is not available regardless of raw total. See our methodology for the full gate criteria.
Bottom line
If you run a Shopify store doing $500K–$5M+ in annual GMV and spend real money on Meta and Google ads: Triple Whale is worth serious evaluation. The Foundation plan at ~A$307/mo pays back quickly when you realise how much budget you are misallocating based on platform-reported attribution. Start with the free tier to validate the pixel, then upgrade once you can see the gap between what Meta claims and what Triple Whale shows.
If your store runs on WooCommerce or BigCommerce: Wait. The beta integrations are functional but unproven at scale. Check back in 12 months when those platforms have moved out of beta.
If your GMV is under $500K or you are just starting out: Use the free tier. You get Triple Pixel, first/last-click attribution, and a 12-month lookback at no cost. That is more than enough attribution rigour for an early-stage business. Paid plans are premature.
If you need AU-timezone support or AUD invoicing: Triple Whale does not offer either. Factor in the timezone gap if you run campaigns heavily during Australian peak periods. If data sovereignty matters for your business or customers, note that your data lives in the US.
If you are on Shopify, doing real volume, and currently making ad spend decisions based on Google and Meta's self-reported numbers: You are probably making some expensive mistakes. Triple Whale fixes that. It is the best tool in its category. The Australian caveats are real, but they do not change that assessment.

[AQ12], fromAudits/currency-claims-aq8-2026-09-24.md. Triple Whale's pricing page names no currency; its terms do, with a hedge that is the vendor's own: fees are “generally due in US Dollars”. The document is attriplewhale.com/pages/terms-of-service—/terms-of-serviceis a 404. No figure and no score moves — this records the source of a claim we were already making.reviewed:untouched per our dating rule. - 23 Sep 2026 🇦🇺 CORRECTION — Triple Whale has withdrawn its published prices. Verified 23 September 2026 in a browser on an Australian connection. The pricing page now lists Free, Foundation, Automate and a new Enterprise tier, every paid one behind a contact call to action, and the US$219 and US$749 figures this review records are no longer anywhere on it. The only dollar figure on the entire page is a single $300, and it is not attached to any of the four tiers. An Australian can no longer see what Foundation costs before talking to sales, which is a real loss for a small operator sizing up a tool, and it is the opposite of the direction most of this category has moved. The withdrawn figures are kept visible above as “was” values rather than deleted — they were true on 20 June 2026 — but nothing here should be relied on as a current price. Currency: the page names none, and there is no AUD.
aud_native: false. Closes this tool's row on the AUD claim queue on currency; the prices are now unpublishable by anyone, including us. - 20 Jun 2026 — First reviewed.
- 24 Sep 2026 — The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was. The header read “gross-up; GST unconfirmed” and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, 141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10. No figure changed here; only the description of them did. Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: gross-up names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and GST unconfirmed is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. No USD price moved and no score changed.

Frequently asked questions
Is Triple Whale available in Australia?
Yes. Triple Whale operates in 80+ countries and is genuinely used by Australian brands — its LSKD case study is an Australian activewear label. But it's available here, not built for here: no AUD billing, US data hosting, and US-timezone support only.
Does Triple Whale charge in AUD?
No. It bills in USD only, on a 12-month commitment, so the exchange rate adds risk to a year-long contract. Foundation is US$219/mo (~A$307 at current rates). GST isn't confirmed at checkout — its terms put tax responsibility on you, so get your own advice.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, and it's strong. The free tier includes the Triple Pixel, first/last-click attribution, a 12-month lookback and 10 users at no cost. There's no separate trial. For brands under $500K GMV, the free tier is plenty — paid plans are premature.
Where is my data stored?
In the US, Europe and Israel — there's no Australian data region and no option to choose. Manageable for most merchants whose Shopify and Meta data already sit offshore, but flag it if you're in a regulated sector or your customers are sensitive about offshore data.
Is Triple Whale worth it for an Australian store?
For Shopify brands over $500K GMV spending real money on Meta and Google ads, yes — it pays back fast by fixing attribution. Below that, or on WooCommerce/BigCommerce (still beta), use the free tier and wait.
