Teal Review: AI Resume Builder and Job Tracker for Australians (2026)

The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictVerdict (TL;DR): Teal is one of the most generous free resume tools on the market, pairing an AI-assisted resume builder with a job tracker that genuinely helps you stay on top of applications. For Australians, it works — the resume builder handles the standard Australian CV format, and the free tier is legitimately useful. But it is a US product designed for the US market. Pricing is USD only, data is processed offshore via third-party AI providers, and it has no specific Australian job-market awareness. Use it as a capable scaffolding tool, then apply your own Australian polish.

What Teal is
Teal is a web-based career platform built by Teal Labs, Inc., a US company. Launched in 2019 and now with over four million users, it combines an AI resume builder with a job application tracker — all in a single dashboard. The pitch is that most job seekers lose track of applications and write generic resumes. Teal attempts to solve both problems at once.
The core product is a drag-and-drop resume editor that scores your resume in real time against a job description. You paste in a job ad, and Teal identifies missing keywords, flags structural issues, and suggests bullet points. On the free plan you can track unlimited jobs and create unlimited resumes. The paid Teal+ plan unlocks unlimited AI credits, all resume templates, and advanced analysis.
Teal is tracker-first. That is what distinguishes it from pure resume tools like Rezi or Kickresume. If you are juggling fifteen applications, the job board integration and application-stage tracking are genuinely useful.
What it costs in Australia
Teal prices in USD only. There is no AUD option. GST is not collected at checkout (verify your tax situation with your accountant).
| Plan | USD Price | AUD (approx, ×1.40) |
|---|---|---|
| Free Forever | $0 | $0 |
| Teal+ Weekly | USD $13/week | ~A$18/week |
| Teal+ Monthly | USD $29/month | ~A$41/month |
| Teal+ 90-Day | USD $79/90 days | ~A$111/quarter |
Exchange rate: 1 USD ≈ 1.4045 AUD (ECB reference rate, 18 September 2026). Our AUD figures are conversions shown ex-GST: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; an unregistered buyer should allow ~10% on top.
The free tier is the headline story. Most Australians testing Teal will not need to pay anything. The weekly plan at USD $13 is an odd billing cadence designed for short job searches. Most users are better off with the monthly plan or the 90-day block if they expect a longer search.

How it works in practice
Sign up with an email, and you are immediately in the dashboard. You can import your LinkedIn profile or paste in existing resume content. The resume editor is clean and structured — you work section by section rather than staring at a blank document.
The standout feature is the Resume Job Description Match. Paste in a job posting and Teal gives you a match score plus a list of missing keywords. On the free plan, you see the top five keywords; Teal+ shows all of them. This takes roughly two minutes per application and is more useful than staring at a job ad trying to spot what you missed.
The AI bullet point generator works by taking your job title and responsibilities and suggesting three to five achievement-focused bullet points. The quality is competent rather than impressive — you will spend two to three minutes editing each suggestion to make it accurate and specific to your actual work. That is still faster than writing from scratch.
The job tracker lets you save jobs, log notes, track application status, and set reminders. The Chrome extension auto-populates details when you bookmark a job from Seek, LinkedIn, or Indeed.
What it does well
Generous free tier. Unlimited resumes, unlimited job tracking, and ten AI credits is a workable offering without spending a cent. Most comparable tools gate tracking behind a paywall.
Resume-to-job matching. The keyword matching feature is genuinely useful for tailoring applications. The free top-five view is enough for most roles; power users will value the full list.
Job tracker integration. Keeping the resume builder and the job tracker in one place reduces friction. You can jump straight from saving a job to building a tailored resume for it.
Clean, structured editor. The section-by-section approach suits users who find a blank document overwhelming. Templates are professional and ATS-readable.
What it doesn't do well
No Australian context. Teal is a US product. The resume builder uses the US resumé format by default. Australian CVs sometimes differ in length expectations and content conventions (covering statements, referee sections). The tool has no awareness of Australian employers, Award rates, or the Seek job market. You are adapting a US tool to an Australian context — which works, but requires effort.
AI credits dry up fast on the free plan. Ten resume bullet credits and two cover letter credits disappear quickly. The weekly billing cadence is unusual and expensive per-day compared with monthly if you only need a week.
AI-generated content needs significant editing. The bullet point generator tends toward the generic. "Managed a team of five to achieve quarterly targets" is fine, but it is not specific to your role. You need to edit every suggestion. Presenting AI-generated bullets verbatim is not something we recommend — both for accuracy and because Australian hiring managers are increasingly sceptical of resume writing that sounds manufactured.
Data processed offshore. Your resume content and job descriptions are sent to third-party AI providers (including OpenAI, per Teal's privacy policy). Teal Labs is a US company. If data residency matters to you — and it should if you work in sensitive industries — this is worth noting. There is no Australian data processing option.
USD pricing only. Every transaction is in US dollars. Your bank or card provider will apply a foreign currency conversion fee on top of the rates above.
Australian fit
Teal works for Australians but was not built for them. There is no AUD pricing, no Seek integration at the native level, no Australian salary benchmarking, and no awareness of Australian resume conventions. The free tier means you are not committing money before testing whether it suits your needs.
One practical issue: the job tracker's Chrome extension works with Seek listings, but you may need to manually correct some auto-populated fields. The tool's match scoring is calibrated to US-style job descriptions, which tend to be more keyword-heavy than many Australian listings.
Data residency is a concern for users in regulated industries. Resume data contains personal employment history — personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 — and is processed by US-based infrastructure including third-party AI providers.
Australian Fit score: 2/5. Available, functional, but with no localisation and offshore data processing.
Alternatives
- Rezi — More ATS-focused, with a useful lifetime plan at USD $149. Less tracker functionality, stronger resume-specific AI.
- Kickresume — EU-based (GDPR protected), better design templates, AUD pricing not available either but EU data residency is more reassuring for privacy-minded users.
- ChatGPT (reviewed here) — You can write and refine a full resume in ChatGPT with the right prompts. No tracking, no templates, but unlimited AI iteration for $30/month AUD.
Bottom line
Teal is a competent free tool that earns its popularity. The job tracker plus resume builder combination is well thought out, and the free tier is genuinely usable. For Australians, it is a reasonable starting point — especially if you are managing a large number of applications and need some structure.
It is not the tool for you if data residency matters, if you want AUD pricing, or if you expect deep Australian market localisation. The AI output needs human editing before any resume leaves your hands. Use Teal to scaffold, then revise thoroughly.

Wayback save queued, not yet cited. - 21 Sep 2026 — The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table. The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: under the ATO rule our GST treatment rests on, a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. Nothing was re-cut — the ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule: the column headed "AUD if GST charged (+10%)" (Teal+ Weekly ~A$20/week; Teal+ Monthly ~A$45/month; Teal+ 90-Day ~A$122/quarter). The GST position is now stated in words once, beneath the table, in place of the old “Australian consumers may be liable for 10% GST” note — which was true of consumers and wrong for the GST-registered businesses this publication is written for. No USD price moved and no score changed.
