The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.
Skip to the verdictVerdict (TL;DR): Final Round AI is a US-built interview preparation platform with a genuinely useful mock interview engine and a real-time "copilot" that whispers AI-generated answers during live job interviews. The preparation tools are worth considering. The live interview feature is a different matter. Using AI assistance during an actual interview — without telling the employer — is a form of misrepresentation. Most Australian employers would consider it dishonest, and some hiring policies explicitly prohibit it. This review covers the whole product, including the part that matters most for your ethics, not just your success rate.

What Final Round AI is
Final Round AI is a San Francisco-based company (188 King St, Unit 402, San Francisco, CA 94107) that describes itself as the "#1 AI Interview Assistant" with over ten million users. The platform's headline product is the Interview Copilot — a tool that listens to your live video interviews via your computer's audio, identifies the interviewer's questions in real time, and displays AI-generated answer suggestions on your screen, invisible to the interviewer.
Secondary features include:
- AI Mock Interview — practice interviews with role-specific question banks and feedback
- Resume checker and LinkedIn profile optimiser — lighter tools than dedicated resume builders
- Cover letter generator — AI-generated letters from job descriptions
- Coding interview assistant — real-time code hints for technical interview platforms (LeetCode, HackerRank, CoderPad)
- Speech analysis — feedback on pace, filler words, and clarity
The platform supports 91 languages and is compatible with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, HireVue, and most other video conferencing tools.
What it costs in Australia
Final Round AI prices in USD. There is no AUD option. GST collection status is unconfirmed (check with your accountant). Published pricing, read from the subscription page in a browser on an Australian connection on 9 October 2026 (the cards did not render for the June read):
| Plan | USD Price | AUD (approx, ×1.40) |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 |
| Monthly | USD $150/month | ~A$210/month |
| Quarterly | USD $83.33/month, billed quarterly (USD $250 a quarter) | ~A$117/month |
| Yearly | USD $25/month, billed annually (USD $300 a year) | ~A$35/month (~A$420/year) |
| Premium MAX | USD $41.67/month, billed annually (USD $500 a year); premium AI models, early access, under-one-hour support | ~A$58/month (~A$700/year) |
Read 9 October 2026 from finalroundai.com/subscription. The page carries no currency label; the figures are a bare $ from a US company that bills through a global payment provider. A "sign in to reveal today's discount" banner sits above the cards, and the FAQ promises a 72-hour money-back window on first Quarterly and Yearly purchases only — monthly plans are non-refundable. Exchange rate: US$1 ≈ A$1.40, October 2026. Capture: Dossiers/captures/final-round-ai-pricing-2026-10-09.txt. — Wayback 6 June 2026
The pricing is expensive compared to resume-focused tools. The annual plan works out at USD $25/month (roughly A$35/month, paid as USD $300 up front), but month-to-month it is USD $150 (about A$210) — a steep price for a tool with a mixed ethical profile, and one that leans hard on the annual commitment.
How it works in practice
For preparation: The mock interview tool works well. You enter a role and company, and the AI generates relevant questions — behavioural, technical, and role-specific. You answer by speaking or typing, and the AI provides feedback on structure (STAR format), content, and delivery. The question banks are genuinely useful for anticipating what you might be asked.
For live interviews: The Interview Copilot sits in a separate application window on your screen. It processes the audio of your call and displays suggested answers in real time. The "stealth mode" is designed to make the window invisible in screen shares. The company markets this explicitly as "completely undetectable."
The technical function appears to work. The ethical question is separate and more important.
What it does well
Mock interview preparation. The AI mock interview engine is one of the more practical preparation tools available. Role-specific questions, structured feedback, and the ability to replay your answers make it meaningfully better than reading a list of common interview questions. For Australian professionals preparing for competitive roles, this part of the product has genuine merit.
Breadth of interview types. Behavioural, technical, system design, coding, phone, HireVue — the platform covers more interview formats than most competitors. Tech candidates preparing for coding interviews benefit from platform-specific support (LeetCode, CodeSignal, etc.).
Language and accent support. 91 languages with regional accent support is a meaningful feature for Australians from non-English-speaking backgrounds who may feel less confident in interview settings.
Post-interview analytics. AI-generated transcripts and performance reports after practice sessions are useful for identifying patterns in how you answer under pressure.
What it doesn't do well
The live copilot raises a serious ethics problem. This is not a minor caveat — it is the central issue with Final Round AI as a product.
Using the Interview Copilot live during an interview without disclosing it to the employer is a form of misrepresentation. You are presenting AI-generated answers as your own, in real time, without the employer's knowledge. The employer is trying to assess your actual communication skills, judgment, and ability to think on your feet. If those responses are coming from an AI, the assessment is false.
The company markets the "undetectable" nature of the tool as a feature. It is not a feature — it is the problem.
This matters practically as well as ethically:
- Many Australian companies are updating hiring policies to prohibit AI assistance during interviews. If discovered, use of the copilot could result in immediate disqualification and, in some sectors, reputational damage.
- If you get a role based on answers you could not have generated yourself, you will be expected to perform at that level from day one.
- Australian employment law includes obligations around honest representation in the hiring process. Misrepresentation to obtain employment can, in serious cases, have legal consequences.
None of this applies to the mock interview and preparation features, which are entirely legitimate.
Expensive pricing for what amounts to prep tools. At USD $25/month on the annual plan, or USD $150 month-to-month, you can get ChatGPT and run unlimited mock interviews yourself with the right prompts.
No Australian market awareness. No AUD pricing, no awareness of Australian interview conventions, no guidance on how Australian employers conduct behavioural interviews versus US-style hiring.
US-based data processing. Your interview audio, transcripts, and personal data are processed by a US company on US-based infrastructure. This includes real-time audio processing during live calls. There is no Australian data residency option.
Pricing opacity. The pricing page did not display plan details in our review session. Exact current pricing should be confirmed directly on the Final Round AI website before subscribing.
Australian fit
Final Round AI is technically accessible from Australia. The mock interview features work without geographic restriction. There is no AUD pricing, no awareness of Australian hiring conventions, and all data — including live interview audio — is processed on US-based infrastructure.
For Australian job seekers who want to use the preparation tools only, there is modest value here. For those considering the live copilot: the tool is designed to deceive interviewers, and Australian employers take that seriously.
One specific Australian consideration: many graduate programs, government hiring processes, and professional services firms in Australia use structured interview formats with explicit rules about candidate conduct. Consulting employment lawyers or the relevant professional body before using any AI tool live in a formal interview context is worth considering.
Australian Fit score: 1/5. No localisation, expensive USD pricing, US-based live audio processing, and a primary feature that creates meaningful professional and ethical risk for Australian users.
Alternatives
- AI Mock Interview via ChatGPT (reviewed here) — For preparation only: with a prompt specifying the role, company, and interview format, ChatGPT runs a competent mock interview and gives detailed feedback. No live copilot, no ethics concerns, ~A$30/month.
- Teal — Includes interview tracking and preparation resources as part of a broader job search platform.
- Practise with a real person — A trusted colleague, career mentor, or professional coach who knows the Australian market will give you better preparation than any AI tool. LinkedIn Learning, SEEK's career resources, and professional associations often facilitate practice opportunities.
Bottom line
Final Round AI's preparation tools — mock interviews, question banks, speech analysis — are legitimate and useful. If the product were only those things, it would score higher.
The Interview Copilot is a different product. It is designed to let you present AI-generated answers as your own during live interviews without the interviewer's knowledge. That is misrepresentation, and Australian job seekers should think carefully before using it.
Use the preparation features. Skip the live copilot. And be honest with prospective employers.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 2/5 | USD $25/month annually (~A$35/month) is expensive for preparation tools, and the USD $150 month-to-month rate is punitive; the page is now clear about it, which does not make it cheaper |
| Ease of Use | 3/5 | Mock interview interface is clean; live copilot setup requires audio configuration |
| Feature Depth | 3/5 | Broad interview type coverage, useful analytics, coding interview support |
| Australian Fit | 1/5 | No AUD pricing, US-based live audio processing, no AU market localisation; live copilot creates professional risk |
| Reliability & Support | 2/5 | US-based team; limited AU-specific support documentation; refunds only on first quarterly or yearly purchases, within 72 hours |
| Total | 11/25 | ⭐⭐⭐ Good |
Note: Australian Fit of 1/5 means this tool cannot be rated Excellent or named a category Top Pick per the AID Methodology (Australian Fit gate).
Update history
- 9 Oct 2026 — New edition: the subscription page rendered, and the monthly price is not what third parties reported. Was: Monthly "~USD $90 (not confirmed)", Annual "~USD $25/month (estimate)", both from third-party review sites because the vendor page did not render in June. Now, from the vendor page read by browser from Australia: Monthly USD $150; Quarterly USD $83.33/month (USD $250 a quarter); Yearly USD $25/month (USD $300 a year); a new Premium MAX tier at USD $41.67/month billed annually (USD $500 a year); Free USD $0. No currency label on the page;
aud_native: falsestands. Score held at 11/25: Value for Money stays 2/5 (the annual figure the June estimate relied on is right; the monthly figure is worse), and Reliability & Support stays 2/5 with the "pricing opacity" clause dropped. Source:finalroundai.com/subscription, read 9 Oct 2026 (AUD queue #368). The June edition is kept unchanged and linked above. - 21 Sep 2026 — The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table. The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: under the ATO rule our GST treatment rests on, a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. Nothing was re-cut — the ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule: the column headed "AUD if GST charged (+10%)" (Monthly ~A$139/month; Annual ~A$38/month (~A$462/year)). The GST position is now stated in words once, beneath the table, in place of the old “Australian consumers may be liable for 10% GST” note — which was true of consumers and wrong for the GST-registered businesses this publication is written for. No USD price moved and no score changed.

Frequently asked questions
Is it ethical to use Final Round AI's Interview Copilot during a real interview?
Using the Interview Copilot during a live interview without disclosing it to the employer is a form of misrepresentation. The employer is assessing your communication skills and judgment; if your responses are AI-generated, that assessment is false. Most Australian employers would consider this dishonest, and many are updating hiring policies to prohibit AI assistance during interviews. The preparation and mock interview features raise no such concerns — it is specifically the live, undisclosed use that is problematic.
Is Final Round AI available in Australia?
Yes, Final Round AI is accessible from Australia without geographic restrictions. Pricing is in USD only (approximately A$35/month on the annual plan at June 2026 exchange rates — verify current pricing at finalroundai.com). All data, including live interview audio, is processed on US-based infrastructure. There is no Australian data residency option and no AUD pricing.
What is Final Round AI good for?
Final Round AI's mock interview tool, role-specific question banks, speech analysis, and post-session feedback are legitimate and useful preparation features. These work for Australian job seekers preparing for behavioural, technical, or coding interviews. We recommend using Final Round AI for preparation only, not for live interview assistance during actual hiring processes.
