Nosto vs Rebuy for Australian Stores in 2026: Full-Site Engine or Shopify Upsell Add-On?
Our pick: Rebuy. The verdict below says who should buy the other.
Winner: Rebuy for the typical Australian mid-market retailer. It is Shopify-native, starts cheap, and proves its return with attribution. Pick Nosto only if you run enterprise traffic across multiple platforms and want the whole storefront personalised, not just the cart.
Last reviewed: 30 June 2026 by Adam.
These two get shortlisted together whenever an Australian retailer decides "we need personalisation." That is where the confusion starts. Nosto and Rebuy answer different questions. Nosto personalises the entire storefront — search, category pages, recommendations, content, email. Rebuy owns three moments: the cart, the checkout, and the post-purchase upsell. One is a platform. The other is a sharp add-on. Buy the wrong one and you either overpay for scale you cannot feed, or underbuy for a problem that is store-wide.
We reviewed both separately. Nosto scored 15/25 (Good). Rebuy scored 16/25 (Very Good). This piece is not a re-score. It is the decision the scores leave open: which fits your platform, your traffic, and your budget.

What it costs in Australia
This is where the two tools separate hardest, and where most of the decision lives.
Nosto uses custom, quote-only pricing with no public tiers. Its own pricing page describes a base platform fee plus a usage fee calculated on your store's GMV and traffic, marketed as "no rigid tiers, no one-size-fits-all plans." There is no free tier and no standard free trial — only a "structured Proof of Concept for qualified merchants," which means even testing needs a sales conversation. Third-party reports put the entry point near US$1,000/mo (about A$1,400), but Nosto publishes no price, so treat that as indicative and get a written quote.
Rebuy bills in USD on a "build your own plan" basis. You assemble the products you want and pay per order, so cost scales with monthly order volume.
| Plan | Price (USD) | Approx AUD (×1.40, ex-GST) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nosto — all tiers | Quote only | — | No public pricing; base fee + GMV/traffic usage. Reported entry ~US$1,000/mo (~A$1,400), unconfirmed |
| Rebuy — Monetize | Free | $0 | Post-purchase affiliate offers |
| Rebuy — Build Your Own Plan | from US$25/mo per package | from ~A$35/mo | US$25 package is Shopify Plus only; standard stores from US$35. Each base covers 500 orders a month, then per-order pricing (calculator 250–50,000) |
| Rebuy — Platform One | Talk to sales | Quote | Full suite, premium support, dedicated CSM; priced on orders per month, no firm figure published (re-checked 29 Sep 2026) |
Both bill offshore, so neither hands you a clean GST line for your BAS. Nosto is Helsinki-based, so expect EUR or USD invoicing and reverse-charge GST you handle yourself. Rebuy bills in USD, so your monthly cost moves with the AUD–USD rate on top of your order count.
The gap is stark. Rebuy lets a store start almost for nothing and prove the return before committing. Nosto cannot be self-served, budgeted, or trialled without a sales-qualified engagement, and its reported four-figure floor is more than most local SMBs spend on their entire martech stack. On price transparency and entry cost, this is not close. Nosto scored 2/5 on Value for Money; Rebuy scored 3/5.
Feature diff — where personalisation shows up
The real question is not "which is better." It is "where do you want personalisation to appear?"
Nosto personalises the whole journey. Its Product Experience Cloud covers personalised search, category merchandising, product recommendations, post-purchase upsell, dynamic bundles and personalised email. Its Content Experience Cloud adds A/B testing, content personalisation, behavioural pop-ups and shoppable UGC. A returning shopper's search results, category order, on-page content and email all draw on one behavioural profile. Nosto's own materials state its AI is built into every module at no extra cost. That breadth earned it 4/5 on Feature Depth.
Rebuy owns three moments. It works the cart, the checkout, and the one-click post-purchase offer on the thank-you page. It blends tunable AI recommendations with hard margin rules, and — the part that matters most — its reporting shows attributed revenue. You can run the trial, read exactly what the widgets earned, and decide on numbers rather than faith. That focused depth also earned 4/5 on Feature Depth, but the scope is narrow by design. It does order value brilliantly and nothing else.
So both are deep, but at different altitudes. Nosto is a suite. Rebuy is a specialist. A store wanting search, category and content personalisation will outgrow Rebuy. A store that only needs more value per order is paying enterprise rates for capability it cannot use with Nosto.
The platform question decides it for many readers. Nosto is platform-agnostic and runs across multiple e-commerce systems. Rebuy is Shopify-only — no use on any other platform, but a clean fit for the platform that dominates Australian small-business e-commerce.
Australian fit
Neither tool is built for Australia, and both scored 2/5 on Australian Fit. But the reasons differ, and so does what you carry each month.
Data residency. Nosto's privacy notice confirms it transfers personal data outside the EU/EEA under Standard Contractual Clauses, with no Australian region. Rebuy's notice states personal information it collects is "sent to and stored on servers located in the United States," also with no AU region. Both store your data offshore. The stakes differ by data type: Rebuy handles low-sensitivity signals — which products sell together, what a shopper added to a cart. Nosto builds richer behavioural profiles across the whole site, so a retailer with Privacy Act obligations has more to weigh with Nosto.
Billing and GST. Neither offers AUD billing. Nosto invoices in EUR or USD with reverse-charge GST on you. Rebuy invoices in USD with no clean GST line. Both leave currency risk on your side of the ledger.
Support. Nosto runs global support with no Australian-timezone guarantee; its priority tiers sit behind higher contracts. Rebuy runs on US hours. A Sydney retailer with an urgent checkout problem at 10am is outside the US working day either way — but Rebuy scored 4/5 on Reliability and Support as an established, stable Shopify fixture with a trial and money-back guarantee, and Nosto also scored 4/5 on the strength of its enterprise track record and contract-backed support.
The honest read: for a well-resourced Australian enterprise buyer, Nosto's offshore posture is standard procurement fare. For the mid-market and SMB retailers this publication serves, Rebuy's friction is smaller, cheaper to test, and lower-stakes on data.
Who should buy which
Buy Rebuy if: - You run on Shopify — the only platform it supports. - Your problem is average order value, not store-wide conversion. - You want to start cheap, trial it, and prove the return before committing. - You are a mid-market or growing store measuring the lift in AUD.
Buy Nosto if: - You run enterprise traffic, ideally across more than one platform. - The storefront — search, category pages, content — is your bottleneck, not the cart. - You have the volume to feed the AI and the budget to negotiate a quote. - You expect enterprise procurement and can absorb offshore billing and support.
The verdict
For the typical Australian mid-market retailer, Rebuy is the pick. It is Shopify-native on the platform most local stores already run. It starts from US$25/mo (~A$35) with a free tier and a 14-day trial. Its attribution reporting proves the return before you commit. That is why it scored one point higher at 16/25 (Very Good) against Nosto's 15/25 (Good) — not because it does more, but because it fits our reader's platform, budget and appetite for risk.
Nosto is genuinely the better platform. If you are a large Australian retailer doing serious volume across multiple storefronts, and you want personalisation everywhere rather than just the cart, it belongs on your shortlist — and quote-only pricing is par for that course. But for most readers, it is scale you cannot feed at a price you cannot see.
Both scored 2/5 on Australian Fit, so neither wins on local credentials. The decision comes down to platform and reach. If personalisation only needs to lift order value inside Shopify, buy Rebuy. If it needs to reshape the whole storefront at enterprise scale, get a Nosto quote — and check the maths against Shopify's native tools first.
