Verdict (TL;DR): Wisecut is a cloud-based AI video editor that does three things reliably: removes awkward silences, generates captions, and reframes footage from landscape to portrait or square for social media. For Australian content creators, coaches, and small business owners who produce talking-head video but lack editing skills or time, it delivers genuine time savings at a reasonable price. The ceiling is low, though — complex editing, colour grading, and broadcast-quality output are beyond it.

What Wisecut is

Wisecut is an AI video editing platform built around a simple thesis: most video content creators waste enormous time removing "um"s, pauses, and silence from talking-head footage. Wisecut automates that process. Upload a video, and within minutes it returns a cleaner version with silences trimmed, captions added, and audio levelled.

The company does not have a prominent public profile. Its website lists an address in the United States and the platform is available globally, but the corporate entity is not prominently disclosed in public documentation (unable to confirm incorporated entity name from primary sources at time of review; see Sources).

Wisecut targets content creators, online educators, podcasters who produce video, and small businesses making how-to or promotional video content. It competes with tools like Descript (full-featured audio/video editor), CapCut (social video editor), and OpusClip (clip repurposing).

What it costs in Australia

Wisecut bills in USD. All Australian cards are accepted; pricing is converted at your bank's exchange rate. At approximately 1 USD = 1.40 AUD:

Plan USD/month Approx. AUD/month Video processing Resolution Watermark
Free $0 $0 30 min/month 480p No
Starter (editing only) $19 ~AU$27 Editor + WISH, no Autopilot — No
Professional (editing only) $49 ~AU$69 Editor + WISH, no Autopilot — No
Starter+ $33 ($23.25 billed annually) ~AU$46 (~AU$33) 300 credits: 5 h Editor or 2.5 h Autopilot 1080p No
Professional+ $118 ($83.25 billed annually) ~AU$165 (~AU$117) 1,200 credits: 20 h Editor or 10 h Autopilot 4K No

Prices read on wisecut.ai/pricing on 30 September 2026. The page now leads with the "Plus" plans (which add Autopilot and social publishing) and keeps editing-only Starter and Professional plans lower down; annual prices were shown only for the Plus plans. Extra credits come in packs from US$25. GST is not separately itemised; Australian consumers purchasing offshore digital services should be aware the ATO treats these as taxable imported digital supplies.

The free plan is functional enough to test the core value proposition. The watermark makes it unsuitable for publishing, but it's a genuine test drive.

"Video processing" refers to the hours of source footage you can process per month — not the duration of finished videos.

How it works in practice

You upload a video file (MP4 or similar common format) directly in the browser. Wisecut analyses the audio track, identifies silences and low-speech sections, and trims them automatically. You get a playback of the suggested cuts before rendering, and can manually restore any section Wisecut removed if it cut too aggressively.

Simultaneously, Wisecut generates auto-captions in one of 13 supported languages. The captions are editable and burn-in to the final export. Background music is added from a licensed library at an automatically adjusted volume level — useful for podcasters wanting ambient sound under a talking-head clip.

The auto-reframe function detects the speaker's face and reframes the crop to keep them centred across 16:9 (landscape), 9:16 (portrait/Stories), and 1:1 (square) aspect ratios. This makes it significantly faster to produce social-ready cuts from a single recording.

In practice, a 30-minute raw recording of a coaching session or podcast interview can be turned into a cleaned, captioned, socially formatted clip in roughly 10–15 minutes including upload time. That's a meaningful reduction from the same work in a traditional editor.

What it does well

Silence removal is the core strength and it works. This sounds mundane, but it's the most time-consuming part of editing talking-head content. Wisecut's detection is accurate enough for most speech; the manual review step catches the rare aggressive cut.

Auto-captions are accurate and editable. Captions are generated quickly and, for clear Australian English speech, are accurate enough to require only light editing. This matters for accessibility and for social video, where a significant proportion of viewers watch without sound.

Multi-format export in one pass. Producing landscape, portrait, and square versions of the same video from a single upload is a real time-saver for anyone distributing across YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn simultaneously.

Low barrier to entry. There is no software to install and no video editing knowledge required. The interface is browser-based and straightforward. A business owner who has never edited a video can produce a clean clip within 20 minutes of signing up.

Affordable at the Starter tier. About AU$27/month for the editing-only Starter is accessible for most small businesses and solo creators. Four hours of source footage per month is adequate for weekly or biweekly video publishing.

What it doesn't do well

The ceiling is low. Wisecut is a single-purpose tool. It does not support multi-track timelines, colour grading, motion graphics, screen recording overlays, B-roll insertion, or anything resembling full post-production editing. If your video needs more than silence-cut-and-caption, you'll need a different tool alongside it.

No offline processing or AU data residency. All video is uploaded to and processed on Wisecut's servers. The privacy policy notes that service attributes may be processed in the United States. For Australian businesses with privacy considerations around the content of their video — client-facing material, sensitive presentations — this is worth weighing. There are no Australian servers and no AU data residency option.

Limited language support. The 13 supported caption languages cover major markets but exclude languages relevant to Australia's diverse population, including most Southeast Asian and Pacific languages. (check current language list at wisecut.ai as this may have changed since last confirmed.)

4K is Starter-tier locked out. 4K export is Professional-only. If you're shooting on a modern smartphone or mirrorless camera in 4K and want to maintain that quality in the output, you'll need the $49/month Professional plan — approximately AU$80/month.

Background music is limited and not optional. The AI-selected background music adds audio that may not suit every context. Users have reported limited ability to disable it without some workaround. If you want silence under speech, investigate this before committing to a paid plan.

The corporate entity is not clearly disclosed. The website does not prominently identify the legal entity behind Wisecut. This is a minor concern for most users but worth noting for businesses undertaking vendor due diligence.

Australian fit

Wisecut works from any browser and Australian users access it without restriction. There is no AU data residency, AUD billing, or Australian support presence.

For most content creators — sole traders, consultants, coaches, podcasters, real estate agents producing property walkthroughs — none of that matters much. The privacy implications of uploading a LinkedIn video to a US-based server are minimal.

For a healthcare provider uploading patient-adjacent content, a financial adviser recording client-facing material, or any business where the video contains sensitive information, the offshore processing is a real consideration.

Australian English captioning accuracy is adequate but not perfect — the platform is trained predominantly on US English and may occasionally misrender Australian idioms or proper nouns. Light caption editing is advisable before subscribing.

There is no GST-inclusive pricing and no AU tax invoices. Sole traders and businesses claiming the subscription as a deduction should retain the USD receipts and apply the relevant exchange rate.

Alternatives

  • CapCut — more feature-rich for social video editing. Includes templates, effects, and more. Free tier is substantially more generous than Wisecut's. The ceiling is higher, but so is the learning curve.
  • Descript — the full-featured option. Edit video like a text document, overdub audio, screen record, and more. More expensive and more complex than Wisecut, but substantially more capable.
  • Opus Clip — purpose-built for clipping long-form video into short social cuts. Less editing depth than Wisecut but excellent for repurposing podcast or interview content.

Bottom line

Wisecut does one thing well and prices it accessibly. If you are a content creator, small business owner, or coach who records talking-head video and spends frustrating hours trimming silences and adding captions, Wisecut is a legitimate time-saver at around AU$21/month.

It is not a full video editor. It will not replace Descript or a professional editing suite. Use it as a fast first-pass tool for talking-head content, not as your entire video production stack.

The offshore data processing and absent AU support are worth acknowledging but are not dealbreakers for most Australian creator use cases.

Recommended for: Content creators, coaches, consultants, and small businesses producing regular talking-head video who want faster turnaround without learning a complex editor.

Not recommended for: Complex production work, 4K-first workflows on a tight budget, or businesses with data sensitivity requirements around video content.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Wisecut cost in Australia?

Wisecut does not offer AUD pricing. The editing-only Starter plan is US$19/month (approximately AU$27/month at a 1.40 exchange rate) and Professional US$49/month (approximately AU$69); the Plus plans with Autopilot run US$33 and US$118 a month (checked 30 September 2026). A free plan is available with a watermark and limited to 1 hour of video processing per month. GST may apply as an imported digital service.

Is Wisecut available in Australia?

Yes, Wisecut is available to Australian users via browser with no geo-restriction. There is no Australian data centre — video is processed on servers in the United States. There is no AUD billing, Australian customer support, or Australian-specific privacy arrangements.

What can Wisecut do that CapCut cannot?

Wisecut's core differentiator is AI-powered silence removal from long-form talking-head content — it analyses an audio track and automatically trims pauses. CapCut does not offer this automated silence removal in the same way. However, CapCut is significantly more feature-rich for general social video editing, effects, and templates. Wisecut is better for editing recorded speech; CapCut is better for creative social video production.
