The verdict: tl;dv is a genuinely capable AI meeting recorder that stands out on the strength of its free plan and its breadth of integrations. For solo operators and small teams who want automatic transcripts of Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls without paying anything, it's hard to beat. The problem for Australians is structural: data lives in Europe, billing is USD only, GST handling at checkout is unconfirmed (so the buyer likely needs to self-assess), and there is no Australian support presence. If you work in a sector where data residency matters — legal, finance, healthcare, government — tl;dv is a risk, not a shortcut. For lower-stakes use cases, it earns its place, but with eyes open. Score: 14/25 — Good.
What it is
tl;dv (pronounced "too long; didn't view") is an AI meeting notetaker built by Tldx Solutions GmbH, a German software company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Aachen, Germany. It joins your Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams calls as a bot, records them, transcribes the audio using OpenAI Whisper, and generates a written summary — all without you lifting a finger after the initial setup.
In 2026, tl;dv has pushed well beyond basic transcription. The platform now offers AI Agents that automatically draft follow-up emails, update CRM records in HubSpot or Salesforce, and post action items to Slack — all triggered by what was said in the meeting. A Multi-Meeting Intelligence feature lets you query patterns across hundreds of calls at once. Sales teams get dedicated coaching playbooks and MEDDIC/BANT scorecards. The core promise — "you talk, we take notes" — has grown into a full meeting-intelligence layer.
It serves more than 2 million users globally. Customers include Salesforce, Cloudflare, Deel, and Roche.
What it costs in Australia (AUD + GST)
tl;dv prices in USD only. There is no AUD billing option and no GST-compliant tax invoicing for Australian businesses. All prices below are converted at approximately AUD 1.40 to USD 1.00.
| Plan | USD (monthly billing) | USD (annual billing) | AUD equiv. (annual) | Key limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | Unlimited recordings and transcription; 10 meetings with AI notes; 10 Ask AI queries |
| Pro | US$29/user/mo | US$18/user/mo | ~A$25/user/mo | Unlimited AI summaries; 5,000+ integrations; CRM sync via Zapier; team folders |
| Business | US$39/user/mo | US$29/user/mo | ~A$41/user/mo | Sales coaching; native Salesforce/HubSpot; multi-meeting intelligence; API & webhooks |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Private AI hosting; dedicated success manager; advanced security/SSO |
Annual discount: A 40% discount on all annual plans was active at the time of review (June 2026). The annual prices in the table above reflect the post-discount rate.
GST note: tl;dv does not advertise AUD billing or GST compliance. Australian businesses purchasing a paid plan will be charged in USD via Stripe (tl;dv's payment processor, per their privacy policy). Stripe is not a Merchant of Record and does not collect GST on tl;dv's behalf unless tl;dv has configured Stripe Tax — which tl;dv has not confirmed. tl;dv's terms of service explicitly place responsibility for all taxes on the buyer. Australian businesses should self-assess whether GST applies under the reverse-charge mechanism and seek advice from their accountant.
Free plan reality check: The free tier looks generous on the surface. It is. But "10 AI summaries (lifetime)" is the catch most users miss. After your first ten meetings, the AI only summarises the first 10 minutes of each call. Transcripts remain unlimited and searchable, but the full-meeting summaries — the feature that drives the tool's value — stop after meeting number ten. For a small business owner in back-to-back client calls, that cap arrives fast.
How it works / features
Setup is straightforward. Install the Chrome extension, connect your calendar, and tl;dv's bot joins any meeting you schedule automatically. You can also invite it manually. A native desktop app for Google Meet is available after Google's March 2026 update that flagged third-party bots as potential risks — tl;dv responded with a botless recording option that captures audio locally without a visible bot joining the call.
Transcription runs via OpenAI Whisper across 40+ languages. tl;dv markets accuracy of "up to 96%" on clear English — a vendor figure we have not independently benchmarked, and one that tracks with published Whisper results on clean audio. In practice, accuracy holds up well for clear audio; it degrades in noisy environments or with heavy accents, like most tools.
AI summaries pull out key points, decisions, and next steps. You can apply templates — MEDDIC, BANT, SPIN for sales; custom formats for other uses. Pro users get unlimited custom AI prompts, so you can ask the meeting "list every pricing objection raised" and get a structured answer within seconds of the call ending.
Multi-Meeting Intelligence (Business plan) lets you query across a library of calls. "What objections did prospects raise about pricing this month?" returns a synthesised answer drawn from every recorded meeting. This is genuinely powerful for sales and customer success teams.
AI Agents (2026 feature) take automation further. After a sales call ends, an Agent can update the HubSpot deal stage, draft a follow-up email, and notify the team in Slack — without any manual steps. The setup requires configuration, but once running, it removes genuine friction from post-meeting admin.
Integrations reach 5,000+ apps via Zapier on Pro (native integrations with Salesforce and HubSpot unlock at Business tier).
Recording cap: All plans have a 3-hour maximum per individual meeting. Simultaneous recordings are not supported on any plan — you cannot record two meetings running at the same time.
What it does well
The free plan is legitimately useful — if you understand its limits. Unlimited recordings, unlimited transcripts, and unlimited manually timestamped notes are all free, forever. For a small business owner who holds ten or fewer significant meetings per month and doesn't need full-length AI summaries after the first ten, this is a real tool, not a crippled trial.
Transcription accuracy is reliable. On clear audio, tl;dv sits at the top of the category — the vendor cites accuracy up to 96%, and independent Whisper benchmarks support a high figure for clean English. It does not require training on your voice. It handles multiple speakers reasonably well.
The integration depth is strong. 5,000+ Zapier connections on Pro, native CRM sync on Business. If your team lives in Slack and HubSpot, tl;dv fits naturally into that workflow.
Botless recording is a practical fix. The option to record without a bot joining as a visible participant resolves a genuine friction point — clients who find bot attendees awkward or distracting. The desktop app for Google Meet makes this clean and automatic.
Sales teams get a lot at Business tier. The coaching playbooks, MEDDIC/BANT scorecards, and multi-meeting intelligence combine into a proper sales-enablement tool. For a scaling Australian sales team, that functionality at ~A$41/user/mo (annual) is competitive against dedicated sales-intelligence platforms.
Where it falls short
The free-plan AI summary cap is a trap. Ten lifetime summaries is not ten per month — it is ten, total, for as long as you use the account. After that, summaries cut off at 10 minutes per meeting. tl;dv's marketing emphasises "unlimited recordings" prominently and discloses the AI summary limit in smaller print. It is not deceptive, but it is not front-and-centre either. Expect most new users to hit this wall within two weeks.
No mobile app. If you take calls on your phone — and many Australian sole traders and mobile professionals do — tl;dv has no native mobile recording option. It is a desktop-first product.
The bot is visible. Unless you configure the botless mode (desktop app, currently Google Meet), tl;dv's bot joins your calls as a named participant. In client-facing meetings, this can prompt questions. Some prospects find it off-putting.
Platform coverage ends at three. Zoom, Google Meet, Teams — that is the entire list. If you use Webex, Whereby, or take calls via phone rather than a video platform, tl;dv will not record them. This is a real gap for industries like property or trades where phone calls remain common.
Customer support draws consistent criticism. Multiple independent user reviews on platforms such as Trustpilot and Product Hunt note slow response times and inconsistent quality, particularly for free-plan users. There is no phone support and no live chat available outside business hours in European time zones — which means Australian users are already working against a time-zone disadvantage when they need help.
The Business plan is for specialist features. At ~A$41/user/mo on annual billing (US$29, down from US$59 in June), the step up from Pro (~A$25/user/mo) is now modest. The key additions — native CRM sync, sales coaching, and multi-meeting intelligence — are valuable for dedicated sales teams but overkill for a five-person professional services firm.
Australian fit
This is where tl;dv's global strengths come unstuck for Australian users.
Data residency: tl;dv states that all its data centres are located in Europe, running on Google Cloud Platform, Wasabi (S3) and Hetzner infrastructure. There is no Australian data region. Your meeting recordings, transcripts, and any sensitive business content discussed in calls are stored offshore. For businesses operating under the Privacy Act 1988 or handling sensitive client information, this is a material consideration, not a footnote. AI processing can be routed either through the EU or the United States — neither option is Australia.
AUD billing: tl;dv charges in USD only. No AUD pricing is published or offered. Australian businesses will see foreign-currency charges on their bank statements and should factor in conversion fees.
GST: tl;dv does not collect Australian GST. Payment is processed via Stripe (not a Merchant of Record), and tl;dv's terms of service place all tax obligations on the buyer. Australian businesses purchasing a paid plan should self-assess GST liability under the reverse-charge mechanism and seek advice from their accountant.
Australian support: No Australian office, no Australian support hours, and no AU-specific help documentation. Support runs from European time zones. A question lodged late Friday Sydney time may not receive a response until Monday.
Australian-aware outputs: The AI summaries and follow-up drafts are generic. They do not default to Australian English spelling, do not reference GST in action-item lists unless prompted, and do not adapt to Australian business context.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | The free plan is genuinely useful, and Pro at ~A$25/user/mo is competitive. Business is now ~A$41 (annual; was ~A$83), a much smaller step up (30 Sep 2026). |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Calendar integration, auto-join, and a clean interface make setup fast. The 10-summary lifetime cap surprises users who didn't read the fine print. |
| Feature Depth | 3/5 | Multi-meeting intelligence, AI Agents, sales coaching and botless recording put tl;dv ahead of basic transcription tools, but it stays within meeting capture. |
| Australian Fit | 1/5 | No AU data region, USD billing only, no GST-compliant invoicing confirmed, no AU support presence, and no AU-aware content defaults. |
| Reliability & Support | 2/5 | Transcription accuracy is strong, but customer support is the weak point: multiple independent user reviews report slow responses, and help runs on European hours only. Free users get community support. Recording-reliability under load is not something we can assess from primary sources. |
| Total | 14/25 |
★★★ Good (raw score 14/25)
The 14-point total places tl;dv in the three-star band. The Australian Fit gate does not alter the band here — ★★★★★ requires AU Fit ≥ 4/5, and the gate applies to the top rating only. tl;dv does not reach four or five stars on the raw score regardless. See our methodology for how Australian Fit shapes our ratings.
Bottom line
If you are a sole trader or freelancer who holds ten or fewer significant meetings a month and just wants a searchable transcript: tl;dv's free plan is one of the best in the category. The unlimited transcript storage and keyword search alone are worth installing it.
If you are a small-business owner who needs full AI summaries on every call: upgrade to Pro at ~A$25/user/mo. At that price point, it is reasonable value — provided you are comfortable with data sitting in Europe and billing in USD.
If you are in legal, finance, healthcare, or any role where data residency is a compliance requirement: do not use tl;dv without first confirming with your legal or compliance team. Meeting recordings contain sensitive client information, and there is no mechanism to store that data in Australia.
If you are a sales team lead looking at the Business plan: the multi-meeting intelligence and coaching features are legitimately powerful. At ~A$41/user/mo on annual billing, a five-person team pays about A$205 a month. Compare it directly against Fireflies.ai, Fathom, and Otter.ai before committing.
If you need phone call recording or use any platform outside Zoom, Meet, or Teams: tl;dv will not help you. Find a tool with broader capture support.

Frequently asked questions
Is tl;dv available in Australia?
Yes. tl;dv works for Australian users with Zoom, Google Meet and Teams. But there's no Australian office, no AU support hours, and help runs on European time — a question lodged late Friday Sydney time may wait until Monday.
Does tl;dv charge in AUD?
No. tl;dv bills in USD only via Stripe, with no AUD pricing, so expect foreign-currency charges and conversion fees. It doesn't collect Australian GST; its terms place all tax obligations on the buyer, so self-assess under the reverse-charge mechanism with your accountant.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, with a catch. Recordings, transcripts and search are unlimited and free forever, but AI summaries are capped at 10 lifetime — total, not per month. After that, summaries cut off at 10 minutes per call. Most users hit this within two weeks. Pro is ~A$25/user/mo.
Where is my meeting data stored?
In Europe — Google Cloud, Wasabi and Hetzner, with no Australian region. AI processing routes through the EU or US, never Australia. For legal, finance, healthcare or government work, confirm with your compliance team before recording sensitive calls.
Who is tl;dv best for?
Sole traders and small teams in lower-stakes roles who want searchable transcripts and are comfortable with offshore data and USD billing. Avoid it if you need phone-call recording, a mobile app, or platforms beyond Zoom, Meet and Teams.
