Little Hotelier Review Australia 2026: Best for Small Stays?
- From
- A$49/mo
The gate: Australian Fit 5/5 clears it, so five stars are permitted.
Skip to the verdictVerdict (TL;DR): Little Hotelier is SiteMinder's all-in-one platform for small accommodation — a B&B, motel or guesthouse under about 20 rooms. It bundles property management, channel distribution and a booking engine into one tool from an Australian company. For small Australian stays it's the runner-up only because SiteMinder's full platform reaches further.

What Little Hotelier is
Little Hotelier is the small-property product from SiteMinder, the Sydney-based hotel commerce company. Where SiteMinder's flagship platform suits hotels and groups, Little Hotelier is purpose-built for the operator of a single small property who needs to run the whole thing themselves. It combines a property management system (the front-desk software for bookings, check-ins and guest records), a channel manager (keeping rates and availability synced across OTAs), and a commission-free booking engine for the property's own website — in one subscription.
The automation and AI sit in the everyday workflow: syncing availability so you never double-book, suggesting rates, and reducing the manual admin that eats a small operator's day. It's less about flashy generative AI and more about quietly removing work.
What it costs in Australia
Little Hotelier publishes its Australian prices, in Australian dollars, on its own pricing page. There are two plans.
| Plan | Price (AUD, ex-tax) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Basics (the vendor marks this "Recommended") | From A$49/month, plus a 1% booking fee | PMS, channel manager, booking engine, calendar and mobile app; 24/7 chat and email support; you set it up yourself. A$49 is flat — it holds at every room count the page offers Basics at, from two rooms up to thirty. |
| Pro | From A$179/month, no booking fee | Everything in Basics, plus competitor rate intelligence, rate parity insights, metasearch and Channels Plus; 24/7 phone support and an onboarding specialist; Dynamic Revenue Plus free for three months. Priced by room count. |
| Add-ons | Priced separately | Payments, Hotel Metasearch, Channels Plus, Dynamic Revenue Plus, Guest Engagement, Website Builder. |
The A$179 is a floor, not a price: it is what the page quotes for a five-room property. Pro then steps up by room count — A$215 at six to ten rooms, A$265 at eleven to fifteen, A$305 at sixteen to twenty, A$345 at twenty-one to thirty, A$375 at thirty-one to forty, A$399 at forty-one to fifty, and contact sales above fifty. Basics does not step. It is A$49 whether you run three rooms or thirty.
Prices are marked "Exclude tax", so a GST-registered Australian business adds 10% and claims it back. This is a real AUD price set by an Australian vendor — we have not converted anything.
The 1% booking fee is the number to do sums on, and it sits on the cheap tier, not the expensive one. It is charged on your total Little Hotelier bookings net of cancellations. At A$13,000 a month in bookings the fee reaches A$130, so Basics costs A$179 all in — level with Pro's five-room price, and Pro carries no booking fee at all. Below that volume Basics is much the cheaper plan. Above it, the cheap plan quietly stops being cheap. Run the numbers on your own booking revenue before you pick a tier, and remember Pro's figure climbs with room count while Basics' does not.
There's a confirmed 30-day free trial (card required, no charge until the trial ends), which is generous for the category and lets a small operator test it through a real booking cycle.
One sourcing note worth stating plainly, because it explains a correction in the history above. The pricing page ships no price in its HTML. Both the figure and the "AUD" label are written in by script after the page loads, from a SiteMinder-hosted data endpoint. Read it with a tool that doesn't run scripts and you see an empty box above a room-count input — which is exactly what our first review reported, and exactly what every Wayback capture of the page shows. Only a real browser on an Australian connection sees what an Australian pays.
How it works in practice
The appeal for a small operator is having one screen instead of five. Bookings from Booking.com, Expedia and your own website all land in the same calendar; availability updates everywhere at once; the front desk, the channel manager and the booking engine talk to each other. For someone who was previously juggling an OTA extranet, a spreadsheet and a separate booking widget, that consolidation is the whole value.
Setup is achievable solo — this is software designed for owner-operators, not IT departments. The 30-day trial is long enough to run real guests through it and see whether the automation actually saves the hours it promises.
What it does well
- All-in-one for small stays. PMS, channel manager and booking engine in a single subscription.
- Australian company. Built by SiteMinder; local support and market understanding.
- Owner-operator friendly. Designed to be run by one person without technical help.
- Generous trial. 30 days, enough to test through a real booking cycle.
- Commission-free direct bookings. Own-website booking engine reduces OTA dependence.
What it doesn't do well
- Caps out as you grow. Basics stops being offered above thirty rooms and Pro above fifty; past that the page sends you to sales, and in practice to SiteMinder's full platform.
- Add-ons stack up. The base price excludes payments, metasearch and website — real cost is higher.
- The booking fee is on the tier they recommend. Basics carries 1% of bookings on top of the A$49; Pro doesn't. Past about A$13,000 a month in bookings, the cheap plan costs more than the dearer one.
- The price is invisible to anything but a browser. The page publishes no figure in its HTML and picks currency by location, so a quote request, a cached page or an overseas look will all mislead you. We got this wrong ourselves — see the update history.
- Lighter AI than the flagship. Less of SiteMinder's new AI-distribution capability than the full platform.
Australian fit
Strong, and for the same reason as SiteMinder: it's an Australian company that understands small Australian accommodation, publishes its prices in Australian dollars, and offers local-timezone support. For a regional motel or a coastal B&B, having a vendor that operates in your market and your currency — rather than a US platform billing in dollars — is a real advantage when something goes wrong on a Friday night and you need help.
The AUD pricing is now confirmed rather than assumed: A$49 and A$179 a month, ex-tax, read from the vendor's own page on an Australian connection. Work out which add-ons you actually need and what 1% of your bookings comes to, because the base figure understates the all-in cost. But on fit, a small Australian operator is hard-pressed to find a better-aligned vendor.
Alternatives
- SiteMinder — consider the full platform if you're above ~20 rooms or run multiple properties.
- Canary Technologies — consider this to add guest-experience and in-stay AI on top.
- OTA-only — the manual status quo Little Hotelier is designed to replace.
Bottom line
For a small Australian accommodation business — a B&B, motel, guesthouse or boutique stay under about 20 rooms — Little Hotelier is close to an ideal fit: one tool for the whole operation, from an Australian company, priced in Australian dollars from A$49 a month, with a 30-day trial to prove it. It's the runner-up in this category only because SiteMinder's full platform does more for larger properties and pushes harder into AI distribution.
Pick Little Hotelier if you're small and want to stop juggling systems; graduate to SiteMinder proper if you grow past it. Either way, you're with the same Australian vendor — which is exactly the continuity a growing operator wants.
Score
| Criterion | Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | A$49 flat is genuinely cheap for an all-in-one, but the 1% booking fee sits on that tier and add-ons lift the real cost. Held at 4 on the September correction: the headline figure fell, the reasoning behind the mark didn't. |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Built for owner-operators; consolidates five tools into one. |
| Feature Depth | 4/5 | Covers the small-property workflow well; lighter AI than the flagship. |
| Australian Fit | 5/5 | SiteMinder product — Australian company, published AUD pricing, GST on top, local support. Already at the ceiling before the correction. |
| Reliability & Support | 4/5 | Backed by SiteMinder's infrastructure; 30-day trial. |
| Total | 21/25 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent |
Update history
- 23 Sep 2026 — 🇦🇺 CORRECTION, no score change — our price was wrong, and the vendor did not change it. This review said Little Hotelier published no flat figure, that its page was a room-count calculator only, and that the entry price was an estimated ~US$109/month (≈ A$153) drawn from third-party listings. All three statements were wrong on the day they published. Verified 23 September 2026 from an Australian browser session:
littlehotelier.com/pricingshows Basics from A$49/month (flat, plus a 1% booking fee) and Pro from A$179/month (no booking fee, quoted for a five-room property), both ex-tax. Was: ~A$153/month, estimate, third-party. Now: A$49/month, vendor-published, in Australian dollars. The vendor did not move: its own pricing data, archived on 12 June 2026 — four days after this review published — already carried Basics A$49 and Pro A$179/215/265/305/345/375/399 for Australia, byte-identical to today's live values (Wayback, 12 Jun 2026). The last real move was earlier: the same data read A$39 Basics / A$155 Pro on 28 October 2025. Why we got it wrong: the pricing page ships no price at all. The HTML the server returns contains no dollar amount and no currency string anywhere — the figure and the "AUD" label are written in by script after load, from a SiteMinder-hosted data endpoint. A check that did not run the script, or ran it outside Australia, saw an empty box above a room-count input and reasonably concluded there was no published price. Consequence for sourcing: no Wayback capture of the pricing page can evidence what this product costs — the three 2026 captures (15 Feb, 10 Apr, 15 May) are all priceless in the literal sense. The archived data endpoint can, and is now cited in its place. One genuine vendor change also lands here: the page carried three plans on 15 May 2026 — Basics, Pro and Revenue Optimiser — and carries two today. Revenue Optimiser is gone from the pricing page; the page's own modified date moved to 3 August 2026. Score unchanged at 21/25 — see the score note. - 8 Jun 2026 — First reviewed.
