Verdict (TL;DR): Kaiber carved out a real niche: AI video for musicians and visual artists who want beat-synced, stylised short-form content. Its Superstudio platform bundles text-to-video generation, image animation, music-video sync, and a timeline editor into one credit-based subscription at prices that are reasonable for what you get. The non-expiring top-up credits are a genuine differentiator. For Australian music producers, visual artists, and social content creators, this is a serious option. The limitations are clear: output quality tops out below professional broadcast standard, pricing is USD-only without GST invoicing, and data is processed offshore. But within its lane, Kaiber delivers.

Score: 15/25 — ⭐⭐⭐ Good Last reviewed: 26 June 2026 by Adam.

What Kaiber is

Kaiber was founded in 2022 by Victor Wang (CEO) and Eric Gao (CTO), childhood friends who built the company after their previous music startup collapsed in the FTX fallout. Gao is a music producer (known as oksami), and that background is visible in the product: Kaiber is built around music video creation from the ground up, not retrofitted onto a general video generator.

The company is headquartered in Arcadia, California, with co-founders Jacky Lu and Christine Zuniga also on the team. Kaiber raised a seed round led by EQT Ventures and Crush Ventures in late 2024.

The platform has evolved into Superstudio — a multi-tool canvas that brings together video generation, image animation, a beat-synced editor (Cuts), a non-linear timeline (Editor), and access to multiple AI generation models under one subscription.

There are no China-linked ownership concerns with Kaiber. It is a US-incorporated company with a clearly identified founding team.

What it costs in Australia

All pricing is USD. There is no AUD billing, no GST invoicing, and no Australian payment entity.

Plan USD/month AUD/month (approx x1.40) Credits/month Notes
Starter $10 ~$14.00 500 Commercial use included (was personal use only in June)
Creator $29 ~$40.60 1,500 Commercial use; full feature access
Pro $99 ~$138.60 5,000 Unlimited concurrent generations
Visionary Contact Contact Unlimited Enterprise; white-glove support

Annual billing saves approximately 20%: Starter drops to USD $8/month (~AUD $11.20), Creator to USD $23/month (~AUD $32.20), Pro to USD $79/month (~AUD $110.60).

Trial and entry options: - 5-day trial: USD $5 (~AUD $7.00), full access, then converts to Creator unless cancelled (one per account) - Credit packs: 300 credits for USD $5, 1,000 for $15, 3,500 for $50, 20,000 for $250. The June Day Pass (USD $8 for 24 hours) is no longer on the pricing page

Credit behaviour: Subscription credits reset monthly. Top-up credit packs purchased separately never expire, even if you cancel. This is unusual and genuinely useful.

Notes: Commercial use requires Creator plan or above. AUD conversions use AUD approx USD 1.40 (September 2026). GST estimates only — Kaiber does not charge GST and does not issue Australian tax invoices. Exact credit costs per generation type not uniformly documented at primary source — verify at kaiber.ai before publication. (some per-action costs)

How it works in practice

Superstudio is a canvas-based workspace. You can run text-to-video prompts, upload images to animate, load a music track and use Cuts to generate beat-synced video segments, or open the Editor timeline to assemble and refine clips.

The music video workflow: upload track, set beat markers, generate video segments to the beat, assemble in Editor. This is what Kaiber does that no other tool in this price range does cleanly. The result is short-form content that moves to music — not just video with music dropped in afterwards.

Generation quality is stylised rather than photorealistic. Outputs look like music videos — vivid, abstract, or illustrative. That is a design choice that fits the target audience well.

Video length per generation is typically short (a few seconds), assembled into longer pieces through the Editor. Multiple underlying AI models are selectable within Superstudio, giving some control over visual style.

What it does well

Beat-synced music video creation. The Cuts feature aligns video generation to music beats. No comparable tool at this price point does this as smoothly. For Australian musicians, music producers, and visual artists making content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, this is a direct workflow win.

Non-expiring top-up credits. Subscription credits reset monthly, but separately purchased credit packs never expire. Buy extra credits during a busy month; they carry forward indefinitely. Meaningfully better than most AI video tools where unused credits vanish at renewal.

Bundled editing tools at no extra cost. Cuts and Editor are included in the subscription. Competitors charge separately for editing features or do not offer them.

Low-cost ways in. A five-day trial costs USD $5, and credit packs start at USD $5 for 300 credits. (The June Day Pass is no longer listed on the pricing page.)

Transparent US company. Victor Wang and Eric Gao's story is documented. No opaque ownership. Straightforward to vet.

What it doesn't do well

Output quality is stylised, not photorealistic. For commercial brand video, product demos, or broadcast production, Runway or Luma Dream Machine will serve you better. Kaiber is for artistic and creative content.

USD-only pricing, no AUD billing entity. No GST invoice, no AUD payment. Australian businesses seeking input tax credits will lack compliant documentation.

Offshore data handling. US company, US infrastructure, no Australian data residency option. Review the privacy policy before uploading client assets or sensitive material.

Credit cost transparency varies. The exact credit cost per generation action is not uniformly documented across all tools in Superstudio. Expect some trial and error.

Seed-stage company. First external funding arrived only in late 2024. Kaiber is smaller than Runway or Pika. Consider platform longevity if building long-term production workflows around it.

Australian fit

Kaiber has no Australian-specific features — no AUD billing, no GST invoicing, no local data handling, and no AU support channel.

The use case is genuinely relevant to Australia's music and creative content community. Australian musicians, DJs, visual artists, and social content creators will find the beat-sync and style capabilities directly useful for the platforms they are publishing to.

For Australian businesses producing commercial brand content, the USD-only billing and offshore data handling are the same friction points as most tools in this category. At the Creator plan (~AUD $41/month), the Superstudio bundle offers reasonable value for creative production volume.

Alternatives

  • Runway — significantly higher output quality and feature depth, comparable USD pricing, better for professional production. See our Runway review.
  • Pika — strong for short-form social video, better free tier, easier learning curve, lower cost per generation. See our Pika review.
  • Luma Dream Machine — cinematic realism, strong motion, more affordable per clip. See our Luma Dream Machine review.

Bottom line

Kaiber is the best AI tool for music video creation at this price point, and it is not close. The beat-sync capability, bundled editing tools, non-expiring top-up credits, and a US$5 trial make it well-suited for Australian musicians and visual content creators.

Its limitations are honest and consistent: stylised over photorealistic, USD-only pricing, output quality below broadcast standard. Within those constraints, the value at the Creator plan holds.

Recommended for: Australian musicians, visual artists, and social media content creators making short-form stylised video. Not recommended for: Professional broadcast production, corporate brand video, or anyone needing AUD billing and GST-compliant invoices.

  • 30 Sep 2026 — re-verified by browser; prices hold, the Day Pass is gone and Starter now allows commercial use. kaiber.ai/pricing on an Australian connection: Starter $10, Creator $29, Pro $99 a month; annual $8 / $23 / $79 (billed $96 / $279 / $948); credit packs from $5 for 300 credits. Every price holds. Starter now lists commercial use (the table said personal use only); the five-day US$5 trial states no credit figure and converts to Creator; the Day Pass (US$8 for 24 hours) is no longer on the page and is removed from the pricing notes, a strength, the verdict line, the VfM note and the pricing FAQ (body and schema). Bare $, no A$. aud_native: false already set. Score unchanged. Capture: Dossiers/captures/kaiber-pricing-2026-09-30.txt; Wayback 30 Sep 2026.
  • 24 Sep 2026 — The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table. The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. The ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule — the column headed “AUD if GST charged (+10%)”: Starter ~$15.40; Creator ~$44.66; Pro ~$152.46. reviewed: untouched per our dating rule.

Frequently asked questions

What is Kaiber AI best for?

Kaiber is best for AI music video creation and short-form stylised video. Its Cuts feature syncs AI-generated video to music beats, making it the leading tool for musicians, DJs, and visual artists making content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. It is not designed for photorealistic or broadcast-quality production.

How much does Kaiber cost in Australia?

Kaiber pricing is in USD. Starter is USD $10/month (approximately AUD $14.00); Creator is USD $29/month (approximately AUD $41); Pro is USD $99/month (approximately AUD $138.60). A five-day trial costs USD $5 (approximately AUD $7) and converts to Creator unless cancelled. Annual billing saves around 20%. Kaiber does not issue GST-compliant invoices.

Do Kaiber credits expire?

Monthly subscription credits reset at each billing cycle. However, top-up credit packs purchased separately never expire and remain in your account permanently, even if you cancel. This is a meaningful advantage over most AI video tools that forfeit unused credits on renewal.
