Verdict (TL;DR): Immediation is the standout Australian-built platform for alternative dispute resolution practitioners — mediators, arbitrators, ombudsmen, family dispute resolution practitioners, and HR teams who need to run legally sound, secure, asynchronous case processes. AUD pricing, Australian HQ, and a feature set built around real ADR workflows put it well ahead of generic video-conferencing workarounds. It is not a consumer legal advice service, and it will not replace a qualified lawyer or mediator. But for the professionals who run those processes, it is hard to match locally.

Score: 20/25 — ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good Last reviewed: 26 June 2026 by Adam.

This review covers Immediation as a platform for ADR practitioners. It does not constitute legal advice. Mediators, arbitrators, and legal professionals using Immediation should continue to comply with all applicable professional obligations, court rules, and privacy legislation. Nothing here replaces qualified legal or professional advice.

What Immediation is

Immediation is an online dispute resolution (ODR) platform built by ADR Technology Pty Ltd, an Australian company registered with ASIC and headquartered in West Perth and Sydney. Founded in 2017, it started as a video-conferencing tool for mediators and has grown into a full practice management system covering case intake, document handling, automated negotiation, e-signing, invoicing, panel management, and reporting.

It is aimed squarely at ADR professionals — sole mediators, arbitration centres, ombudsman services, in-house HR departments, family dispute resolution practitioners, and courts — not at individuals seeking to lodge a complaint. The companion ADR Marketplace (marketplace.immediation.com) handles the consumer-facing end, connecting disputants with qualified practitioners.

The platform also includes Ryan AI, Immediation's AI intake assistant, which automates the information-gathering phase of a case before a practitioner becomes involved.

What it costs in Australia

Immediation is priced in AUD — a rarity in legal-tech. Pricing is sourced from the Immediation website (verified 26 June 2026).

Plan Monthly price Annual price Cases/month Users
Professional AUD $49/month AUD $499/year 2 1
Team AUD $299/month AUD $3,050/year 20 10
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom Custom

Overage charges apply if you exceed your monthly case allocation: AUD $20 per additional case on Professional, AUD $15 on Team. These are billed quarterly.

A 14-day free trial is available. No credit card required to start.

GST: Immediation is an Australian company. GST treatment of your subscription should be straightforward for Australian businesses — confirm with your accountant, as SaaS taxation can depend on circumstances.

How it works in practice

A solo mediator signs up, creates a case, and invites parties via automated intake forms. Each party completes their intake information securely. The mediator then configures private rooms — so that, for example, two parties and their legal representatives can each have a separate breakout space before being brought together in a joint session.

The video conferencing component uses military-grade encryption. If you prefer to use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet instead of Immediation's built-in video, you can do that too — the platform is flexible on this point.

Document co-drafting lets parties and practitioners work on settlement agreements in real time, in the same interface as the video session. E-signing is built in via DocuSign. Once a settlement is reached, the invoice can be generated from within the same system.

For larger operations — arbitration centres, ombudsman services — panel management automates the selection and appointment of neutrals. Automated negotiation tools can resolve high-volume financial disputes (think bulk insurance or banking claims) without requiring a practitioner to manage each one individually.

Ryan AI, the platform's AI intake assistant, handles the information-gathering phase: asking parties structured questions, collecting case details, and surfacing that information to the practitioner before the first session begins.

What it does well

AUD pricing with no currency conversion guesswork. This sounds like a minor point. It is not. When you are billing clients in AUD and your practice management software bills you in AUD, the accounting is clean. Most international legal-tech tools make Australian practitioners do the conversion dance.

Built around Australian ADR workflows. The feature set reflects how dispute resolution actually works in Australia — family dispute resolution, strata disputes, tenancy matters, commercial arbitration, HR complaints. This is not a US product that someone bolted an AU flag onto.

Ryan AI is a genuine time-saver for intake. Structured AI intake forms mean that by the time a practitioner sits down with a file, the basic case facts are already organised. That is real time back in a solo mediator's day.

Security is appropriate for legal matters. Encrypted video, encrypted document storage, and an access model that lets practitioners configure who can see what. The platform explicitly states it upholds ethical obligations for legal confidentiality.

Flexibility on video. Not forcing practitioners to use a proprietary video system is a smart call. If your clients are already comfortable on Zoom, you can use Zoom within an Immediation case — without losing the case management wrapper.

Genuine Australian support. An Australian HQ means support is available in Australian business hours, with the company's FAQ directly addressing AU/US time-zone coverage.

What it doesn't do well

Two cases per month on Professional is tight. A sole mediator doing even modest volume — say, one or two cases a week — will hit the ceiling quickly and face overage charges. The jump from Professional (AUD $49/month, 2 cases) to Team (AUD $299/month, 20 cases) is steep if you are a one-person shop who handles, say, six cases a month. The pricing structure rewards scale; it is less friendly to the mid-volume sole practitioner.

Ryan AI is listed as launched March 2025, but documentation is thin. The platform pages reference Ryan AI prominently, but detailed documentation on what the AI actually does — its accuracy rate on intake, how it handles ambiguous responses, what happens when it misclassifies a case type — is not publicly available. For a tool used in legal proceedings, that matters. (current Ryan AI capability depth beyond intake assistance)

No publicly stated data residency specifics. The company is Australian-headquartered, and the FAQ confirms an Australian address, but the platform does not publicly specify where case data is stored (Australian servers, US cloud provider, or otherwise). For matters involving sensitive personal information — which describes most ADR cases — practitioners should ask Immediation directly about data residency before signing up. This is a material gap compared to platforms that publish this prominently. (server/storage location)

Not built for non-practitioners. If you are an individual trying to resolve a dispute with a landlord or employer, Immediation the platform is not for you directly — you need to find a practitioner who uses it via the ADR Marketplace. This is not a criticism of the product, but it is a scope limitation worth noting for readers who arrive here hoping to lodge a complaint.

No direct integration with LEAP, Actionstep, or other AU practice management systems. Clio integration exists on Team and above, but Clio is less dominant in the Australian market than in North America. LEAP, Actionstep, and InfoTrack — the systems most common in Australian law firms — are not listed. (current integrations beyond Clio)

Australian fit

Immediation is one of the most genuinely Australian legal-tech platforms in this directory. It was founded here, is registered here, prices in AUD, and is built around the dispute resolution ecosystem that Australian practitioners actually operate in — including family dispute resolution under the Family Law Act, strata disputes, tenancy matters, and the National Mediation Accreditation Scheme.

The ADR Marketplace integration also reflects the Australian accreditation landscape, with mediators needing to meet NMAS standards. That is a level of local specificity you do not get from international competitors.

The one genuine gap is data residency transparency. Given that ADR cases often involve sensitive personal data — health information, financial details, relationship breakdowns — practitioners subject to the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles should confirm where their data is stored before migrating their practice to any cloud platform, including this one.

Alternatives

Three tools worth considering alongside Immediation:

  • Lawpath (review) — the better fit if you are a small business needing legal document automation and lawyer access, rather than running dispute resolution proceedings as a professional.
  • Josef (review) — Australian-founded legal automation for law firms and in-house teams building guided intake flows and document workflows. Complementary to Immediation rather than a direct replacement.
  • Harvey (review) — enterprise legal AI for large law firms. Completely different use case — document analysis and drafting rather than case management — but the right reference point if your firm is exploring legal AI at scale.

Bottom line

Immediation earns its place as the category leader for online dispute resolution in Australia. It is purpose-built for ADR professionals — not a generic video tool, not a US product adapted for local use, and not a direct legal advice service. If you run a mediation or arbitration practice and you are still managing cases via email, shared drives, and a separate video subscription, Immediation is worth a serious look.

The pricing structure has a gap at the mid-volume end (solo practitioners handling more than two cases a month will feel the step-up cost quickly), and data residency transparency should improve. But for the category, there is no stronger Australian-built option.

Mediators and arbitrators using any software platform, including Immediation, remain responsible for complying with their professional obligations under relevant accreditation standards, court rules, and Australian privacy law. This review does not constitute legal advice.

Update history
  • 22 Sep 2026 — ADR Technology’s own site has gone, and the entity claims moved to Immediation’s About Us page. The cited adrtechnology.com.au returns a Framer “Site Not Found”. This review names ADR Technology Pty Ltd as the maker in the frontmatter, the opening section and the FAQ, so the citation could not simply be dropped. Immediation’s own About Us page — already cited here and re-read live on 22 September 2026 — carries all of it: the trading-name statement, the Sydney and Perth headquarters with a West Perth WA 6005 address, and the 2017 launch. Nothing in the body changed and no score moved. Worth a future check: ABN Lookup lists ADR TECHNOLOGY PTY LTD as an active ABN in postcode 6005 WA, which would be the stronger primary source, but ABR citations are being swept by another pass and this one stayed out of its way. Wayback: capture pending (archive.org save still failing 22 September 2026).
