FASHN is a focused AI studio for fashion sellers. It puts clothes on AI models fast. The output is strong for a niche tool. It does show Australian dollars, which most of this category does not — but it calls the figure approximate and settles the real amount at checkout, and Australian fit is otherwise thin. Good value if you sell apparel online. Not built for us.

If you sell clothing online in Australia, you know the cost of photography. A model, a studio, a half-day shoot. FASHN promises to replace much of that with AI. Upload a garment, pick a model, get a polished on-model shot in seconds.
I spent time with the product, its pricing, and its privacy terms. Here is the honest read for Australian sellers.
What FASHN actually is
FASHN is an AI fashion-imaging studio. It is not a general image generator like Midjourney. It does one job: turning flat product photos into professional on-model fashion imagery.
The company was founded in 2022 by Dan and Aya Bochman. Profiles describe a self-funded husband-and-wife team. Reporting places the business outside Australia. None of that is disqualifying. But it sets expectations for local support.
The platform runs on a credit system. Every action costs credits. The vendor's help centre states most tools "start at 1 credit per output," while the highest-quality try-on endpoint costs more. You buy a monthly plan, the plan grants credits, and credits power the tools.
The tools, specifically
FASHN's API documentation lists nine endpoints. The web app exposes the same core set. Here is what they do, in plain terms:
- Virtual Try-On — puts a garment on a person photo.
- Product to Model — turns a flat-lay or ghost-mannequin shot into an on-model image.
- Model Create — generates a custom AI model.
- Model Swap — replaces the model while keeping the garment and background.
- Face to Model — turns a face into a fashion-model photo.
- Edit — adjusts pose, background, and styling.
- Reframe — changes composition and aspect ratio.
- Image to Video — turns a still into a short fashion clip.
- Background Remove — creates a clean product cutout.
That is a genuinely deep toolkit for one niche. Most competitors do try-on and stop. FASHN does the whole product-imagery pipeline.
Speed is a selling point the vendor leans on. Its API page lists try-on at "5-17 seconds" and most generation endpoints around twelve seconds. I treat vendor timings as vendor claims, not independent benchmarks. But the workflow is clearly built for volume.
Pricing — and what "approximate" means here
Here is the part Australians need to read twice. FASHN's pricing page has a currency toggle, and one of the two options is AUD — pick it and the plans read A$27, A$70 and A$142 a month. Those are FASHN's own figures, not our conversions. But every tier carries the same footnote: "Local prices are approximate. The exact amount is shown at checkout." So you get a number in your own currency to budget against, and no commitment that it is the number you will be charged. There is still no GST handling noted for Australian buyers.
The AUD column below is FASHN's own, read from its pricing page on 23 September 2026 with the currency toggle set to AUD — not our conversion. FASHN's own AUD figures imply about 1.42 to 1.43 to the US dollar, a little above the 1.4045 this publication uses, and the vendor describes them as approximate in any case. GST treatment for an offshore digital service is the buyer's responsibility to confirm.
The app subscription tiers, per the vendor's help centre:
| Plan | Price (USD/mo) | Approx AUD/mo | Monthly credits | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | US$19 | A$27 (FASHN's own, approximate) | 200 | 4K images, 720p video, 2 team seats |
| Pro | US$49 | A$70 (FASHN's own, approximate) | 750 + 50 daily | 1080p video, 5 seats, priority support |
| Agency | US$99 | A$142 (FASHN's own, approximate) | 1,500 + 100 daily | Custom Face References, 10 seats |
| Agency 2× | US$199 | ~A$279 | 3,000 + 200 daily | Everything in Agency, double credits |
Annual billing is "priced at 10 months instead of 12," per the help centre — so Basic is US$190/yr (~A$266), Pro US$490/yr (~A$686), Agency US$990/yr (~A$1,386). Two months free for paying up front.
Every new account gets ten complimentary credits. That is enough to test the core workflow before you pay. It is not a usable free tier for real work.
There is also a developer API with its own pricing. On-demand credits run at US$0.075 each, dropping to US$0.0488 at the top commitment tier, per the API pricing page. That matters only if you are wiring FASHN into your own store. Most sellers will use the app.
One hard line on the wallet: FASHN does not offer refunds. The help centre states it gives no refunds "for unused credits, change-of-mind purchases, or results that do not meet personal expectations." Buy carefully. Credit top-ups, the help centre notes, stay valid for twelve months.
Where Australia gets short-changed
This is where I have to be honest, because Australian fit is this publication's defining test.
FASHN serves Australians poorly on local fit, and the one thing it does offer comes with an asterisk. Its pricing page will show you Australian dollars — A$27, A$70, A$142 — which is more than most of this category bothers with. But FASHN calls those figures approximate and settles the real amount at checkout, so there is no committed AUD price and you should still expect currency conversion and card fees on every payment. GST is unaddressed for the Australian buyer.
Data residency is the bigger flag. The privacy policy states data "is processed on infrastructure located in the United States and the European Union." It adds that third-party providers "may transfer and process data in other jurisdictions." For most apparel sellers uploading product shots, that is low risk. If you upload identifiable people — staff, real customers, model talent — think harder about where those images live.
There is a wrinkle worth flagging plainly. The API product page states inputs and outputs are "automatically deleted after 72 hours." The privacy policy, separately, says uploaded images and outputs are "retained until you delete them individually or your account is deleted." Those two statements describe different retention behaviour. I read the API deletion window as applying to the developer API, and the retain-until-deleted rule as applying to the app. FASHN should reconcile the two. Until it does, assume app uploads persist until you remove them.
Support is online only. There is no Australian phone line, no local business hours commitment, and no AU-based account management. Basic gets chat support; Pro and above get priority support, per the help centre. That is fine for a A$27 tool. It is not local fit.
None of this makes FASHN bad. It makes FASHN a global product an Australian can use, not a product built for Australians.
Who it is for
Buy FASHN if you run an apparel or accessories store and you photograph products often. The maths is simple. One avoided photoshoot pays for a year of Basic. The Product-to-Model and Model-Swap tools alone can replace a recurring studio cost.
Skip it if you need general image generation, if you upload identifiable real people and want local data residency, or if USD billing and no-refund terms make you uneasy.
For a small Australian fashion label testing AI imagery, start on Basic. Spend the ten free credits first. Confirm the output suits your brand before you commit a cent.
How it scores
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Value for Money | 4/5 | Cheap entry, fair credits, top-ups valid 12 months. No refunds; AUD shown but only as an approximation. |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Browser-based, fast, built for the workflow. Some fashion-specific learning. |
| Feature Depth | 4/5 | Nine endpoints, video, 4K, custom models. Deep for its niche. |
| Australian Fit | 2/5 | AUD displayed but explicitly approximate, not committed billing; GST unaddressed, US/EU data, no AU support, no local entity. Held at 2 — see the 23 Sep 2026 note. |
| Reliability & Support | 3/5 | Online support tiers, 72h API deletion. No published uptime SLA; small team. |
| Total | 17/25 | ★★★★ Very Good |
Australian Fit gate note: Australian Fit scores 2/5, below the 4/5 threshold. Under our methodology, a tool with weak local fit cannot earn five stars or a category Top Pick, regardless of raw total. FASHN sits at four stars on merit, and the gate would cap it there in any case. See our Methodology page.
The verdict
FASHN is a good tool that was not built with Australia in mind. The output is strong. The toolkit is deep. The entry price is low. For an apparel seller, it can pay for itself in one skipped shoot.
But you pay in US dollars, you sort your own GST, and your images sit on US and EU servers. Those are not deal-breakers. They are the cost of using a global product without a local front door.
Recommended for Australian fashion sellers who photograph products often — with eyes open on currency, GST, and data location.
Update history
- 23 Sep 2026 🇦🇺 CORRECTION — FASHN does show Australian dollars, and this review was built on the claim that it does not. Verified 23 September 2026 in a browser on an Australian connection. The pricing page carries a currency toggle with a flag-labelled AUD option beside USD; selecting it prices Basic at A$27, Pro at A$70 and Agency at A$142 a month, with top-ups at A$0.14 a credit. Those are FASHN's figures, not our conversions — they imply roughly 1.42–1.43 to the US dollar against the 1.4045 we use. The review said flatly “There is no AUD option on the pricing page”, and the title, meta description, excerpt, verdict and pricing heading were all framed on it. All corrected.
- 23 Sep 2026 — the score is held at 17/25 and Australian Fit at 2/5, deliberately. FASHN prints the same footnote under every tier: “Local prices are approximate. The exact amount is shown at checkout.” That is currency display, not committed Australian billing, and our AUD pricing rule draws the line at a vendor that actually bills in AUD. The four other reasons behind the 2/5 — no data residency, GST unaddressed, no AU support, no local entity — are unchanged. Tabnine carries the same profile without the toggle and also sits at 2/5; awarding a full point for a disclaimed display convenience would not be defensible against that. What an Australian gets is a number to budget against, which is more than most of this category offers, and no promise it is the number they pay.
