ChatGPT Dots works in Australia. Most people should wait.

TL;DR: Dots, the always-on agents OpenAI launched at DevDay on 29 September, are available in Australia. They come only with Pro or a Business Premium seat, both well over A$100 a month. Plus at A$30 is still the right plan for almost everyone.

Should you pay for a dot?

Not yet, for most people. A dot is an agent that keeps working between your chats. OpenAI says it runs on GPT-6 Astra with its own cloud computer. It works across apps you connect, such as Slack or your personal email. You give it a goal and it reports back. Changing a password or moving money, you finish yourself. It can buy things with a card saved on a merchant's site, with approval you can give in advance.

OpenAI's help centre says Pro users aged 18 and over get dots everywhere except the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Business Premium seats get them in all supported regions. Australia qualifies on both counts, though rollout can take a few days. You can set one up in the ChatGPT phone app or on desktop.

Why it matters for Australians

The price is the filter. Pro was from A$155 a month when we checked OpenAI's pricing on 7 October. A Business Premium seat is A$140 a month on annual billing on OpenAI's Australian page, which pairs it with the US$100 annual rate (US$125 billed monthly). Business needs at least two users, so a sole trader's only way in is Pro. Since launch, OpenAI's business pricing page has dropped dots from its feature list, though the help centre still includes Business Premium, so confirm before you buy seats for it. OpenAI doesn't say whether its AUD prices include GST. On the Australian App Store, Pro 5x was A$154.99 including GST when we checked on 21 September.

Then there is what a dot keeps. It reads connected apps on its own initiative and forms memories from them. You cannot view or delete a single memory, only the whole dot. Disconnecting an app doesn't erase what it took. On Pro, your "Improve the model for everyone" setting decides whether OpenAI trains on your dot's work, so check it before you connect anything. Human review can still happen with it off. Business workspaces are not used for training by default.

Australian data residency comes only with Enterprise, and dots there are a beta your admin must switch on. For anyone holding client records under the Privacy Act, that combination needs a policy before it needs a subscription.

Does this change our recommendation?

No. Our ChatGPT review (21/25) already told most readers to skip Pro. Business Premium's A$140 has not moved since 7 October. Dots make Pro more interesting for an operator buried in email and scheduling. OpenAI is giving extended usage limits in the first month, so a trial month will flatter it; decide at renewal. Connect only a work calendar and a test inbox. Everyone else: stay on Plus and watch for dots reaching cheaper plans.

Frequently asked questions

Is ChatGPT Dots available in Australia?

Yes. OpenAI's help centre says dots are rolling out to Pro users aged 18 and over in all markets except the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK, and to Business Premium users in all supported regions. Access may take several days to reach an account.

How much does ChatGPT Dots cost in Australia?

Your first dot is included with ChatGPT Pro, which was from A$155 a month on 7 October, or with a ChatGPT Business Premium seat at A$140 a month on annual billing. Business plans start at two users. Dots are not included in Free, Go, Plus or a Business Standard seat.

Can I delete what my dot remembers?

Not item by item. OpenAI says you cannot view, delete or change individual dot memories. Deleting the dot deletes its context. Disconnecting an app stops new access but keeps what the dot already learned from it.
