Fyxer vs Superhuman for Australian Professionals in 2026: Which AI Email Assistant Wins?

By Adam · 26 Jun 2026 · 6 min read
Head-to-head verdict

Our pick: Fyxer. The verdict below says who should buy the other.

Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).

Winner: Fyxer for most Australian professionals. It bolts onto your existing Gmail or Outlook, drafts replies in your voice, stores data in the EU, and has a free plan. Pick Superhuman only if raw keyboard speed is worth it, US data hosting and a recent security incident.

What both tools actually do

Both promise the same outcome — less time in email — by very different routes. Fyxer is an AI assistant that lives inside the Gmail or Outlook you already use. Nothing to migrate. It sorts your inbox into fixed categories so the messages that need you sit at the top, drafts replies that sound like you by learning from your sent history, and takes notes in your video meetings. Open your inbox in the morning and the triage is done and the replies are started.

Superhuman is a different bet: it replaces your email client entirely. You open Superhuman instead of Gmail, and it presents your existing mail through a keyboard-first interface built obsessively around speed — 100-plus shortcuts, a command palette, and AI features for writing, summarising and auto-labelling. Since Grammarly acquired it in 2025, "Superhuman" is now a suite (Mail, Grammarly, Docs — the workspace formerly called Coda — and the Superhuman Go assistant), but the email client is the part most Australians are asking about.

The core split: Fyxer adds intelligence to the inbox you have; Superhuman swaps the inbox for a faster one. Both read your mail to do their job — that's the trade in this whole category.

Pricing in Australia

Neither bills in Australian dollars. Fyxer now has a limited Free plan and a 14-day trial on paid plans; Superhuman Mail has no free tier and a 7-day trial (Superhuman's trial not re-read on 30 September).

Fyxer is USD per user per month: a limited Free plan, then Pro at US$32 and Team at US$64 on annual billing (roughly A$45 and A$90 a month ex-GST at our ~1.40 conversion; US$49 and US$99 month to month). Pro is the plan most individuals want — it adds replies drafted in your tone and automatic inbox labelling. (Re-read 30 September 2026; the June Starter and Professional plans are gone.)

Superhuman Mail standalone is US$25/user/month annual (about A$35 ex-GST), rising to US$33 for Business. Critically, you still pay Google or Microsoft for the underlying email account on top — Superhuman is a layer, not a replacement service. One caution carries to both: independent reviews report Fyxer users being charged after they thought they'd cancelled, so set a reminder before either trial ends.

Where Fyxer wins

  • Drafts that genuinely sound like you. Fyxer reads your sent history and leaves ready-to-edit replies in your folder. It never sends on your behalf — every draft waits for your click.
  • Zero migration. It bolts onto your existing Gmail or Outlook. Hate it, and uninstalling reverts your inbox exactly as it was.
  • A stronger data jurisdiction. Fyxer hosts on Google Cloud in the EU and stores customer data within the EU/EEA — a better footing for an Australian buyer than US-default hosting.
  • A grown-up security posture, no incident. SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, and a plain "we don't train models on your data" promise — with no disclosed breach against it.
  • It has a free way in, and drafting costs about the same. Fyxer's Free plan lets you try it; Pro at ~A$45/month does the in-your-voice drafting and triage, level with Superhuman Business (US$33), the Superhuman tier that adds auto drafts.

Where Superhuman wins

  • It's genuinely the fastest client. The keyboard-first design and command palette deliver real speed for someone processing 50-plus emails a day.
  • Polished AI inside one fast surface. Write with AI, Instant Reply, Auto Summarise and Split Inbox are smooth and well-integrated.
  • Background Auto Drafts. On the Business plan, it writes draft replies in your voice in the background, adapted per contact.
  • A single, designed experience. If you want one tuned tool rather than an add-on, Superhuman is a more cohesive surface — for a price.

Which to pick — decision framework

If you want AI help without changing how you work, pick Fyxer. It's the lower-commitment, lower-cost, better-data-jurisdiction option, and the in-your-voice drafting is the single best reason to use it over a generic AI writing tool.

If you are a keyboard-speed obsessive who lives in email all day and will genuinely use 100 shortcuts, Superhuman's speed is real — but you're paying more, hosting on US infrastructure, and accepting a tool with a disclosed 2026 AI security flaw.

If data jurisdiction matters to you, Fyxer's EU storage beats Superhuman's US hosting. Neither stores data in Australia, so for sensitive client mail, both need scrutiny.

The verdict

For the default Australian professional, Fyxer is the better buy. It hands back real time through drafting that actually sounds like you, it bolts onto the inbox you already have, it stores your data in the EU rather than the US, and it has a free plan to start on. Its security posture is the grown-up baseline you should demand from a tool that reads your whole inbox — and it meets it. The honest weakness is substance: Fyxer's drafts go generic the moment a thread needs real business context, so treat it as a fast first draft, not a finished reply.

Superhuman is the faster, more polished client, and for a small group of high-volume email power users that speed justifies the premium. But for most people it's an expensive layer on top of email you already pay for, hosted in the US, carrying a January 2026 AI data-exfiltration vulnerability that could expose financial and legal emails. The scores are a point apart — Fyxer 15/25, Superhuman 14/25 — and that gap is not what decides it. Fyxer wins on jurisdiction, on switching cost, on price, and on having no disclosed security flaw against it. EU hosting beats US hosting for an Australian buyer, there is nothing to migrate, and it costs less every month. Unless keyboard speed is the thing you most want to buy, start with Fyxer.

Update history
  • 30 Sep 2026 — Fyxer's plans synced; the "costs less" claim withdrawn. Read in a browser on an Australian connection: Fyxer's Starter (US$22.50) and Professional (US$37.50) are gone, replaced by a Free plan, Pro at US$32 and Team at US$64 a month billed annually. Superhuman is unchanged (Starter US$25, Business US$33). Fyxer's entry paid seat is now dearer than Superhuman Starter and level with Superhuman Business on drafting, so "costs less" is replaced by "has a free plan". The verdict (Fyxer for most) stands on fit, EU data and the existing-inbox model.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fyxer or Superhuman better for Australians?

Fyxer for most. It bolts onto your existing Gmail or Outlook, drafts replies in your voice, stores data in the EU and has a free plan. Superhuman is faster, US-hosted, and carries a January 2026 AI security flaw.

Where is each tool's data stored?

Fyxer stores customer data within the EU/EEA on Google Cloud. Superhuman runs on US-based infrastructure. Neither offers Australian data residency, so confirm fit before using either for sensitive client email.

Do they bill in Australian dollars?

No. Both price in US dollars with no AUD billing. Our AUD figures are our own conversions at roughly 1.40 (verified September 2026), shown ex-GST. That is about A$45/month for Fyxer Pro and A$35/month for Superhuman Mail Starter on annual billing (A$46 for Superhuman Business, the tier with auto drafts); Fyxer also has a limited Free plan. A GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow about 10% on top.
