Verdict (TL;DR): Scenario is not a general-purpose image generator. It is AI creative infrastructure built for game studios, indie developers, and creative teams that need their AI outputs to look like their existing art — consistently, at volume. You train a custom model on 10–30 of your own assets (characters, environments, UI elements), and from that point every generation inherits your visual style without prompt engineering tricks. For a game studio producing hundreds of props and backgrounds, or a brand that needs every AI-generated image to match its look book, this is the tool. The free tier (50 daily credits) lets you test it. Paid plans run US$15–$75/month (Starter to Max, billed monthly), dropping 33% on annual billing. All paid plans include a full commercial licence — you own what you create. Scenario is SOC 2 Type II certified and states it does not use your data to train its models. The catch for most Australian small businesses: it is a specialist tool that pays off only if you have an established visual style to train on and enough generation volume to justify a subscription.

What Scenario is

Scenario is a US company (Scenario, Inc.) that describes itself as "the creative AI engine built for production at scale." The platform's core value is custom model training: upload your own images, train a fine-tuned AI model on your visual style, then generate new assets that are consistent with that style from the first output.

The underlying generation stack draws on foundation models from Flux, GPT, Seedance, and others. What Scenario layers on top is:

  • Custom model training — fine-tune on your assets in 30 minutes to a few hours
  • Multi-LoRA merging — combine two custom models (e.g., your character style + your background style) in a single generation
  • 65+ core AI models (all plans) + 30+ advanced models (Pro and above)
  • Editing models via Gemini, GPT, and Runway (Pro and above)
  • Workflow automation via API — integrate into Unity, Unreal, or custom pipelines
  • 3D mesh generation — GLB, OBJ, FBX, STL, VOX with PBR textures ready for game engines
  • Video generation — MP4, MOV, WebM, GIF
  • Audio generation — WAV, MP3
  • Private generations — everything is private to your workspace by default

The platform is SOC 2 Type II certified, which matters for studios and enterprises handling proprietary art. Data is not used to train Scenario's models. Enterprise customers on a signed MSA/DPA get a contractual no-training guarantee.

What it costs in Australia

Scenario bills in US dollars and says nothing about GST at checkout. All prices below are monthly-billing rates, converted at roughly 1.40 (September 2026) and shown ex-GST.

Plan Price (USD/month) AUD approx (×1.40) Monthly credits Key features
Free US$0 — 50 daily credits Public models; personal use only
Starter US$15 ~AUD$21 1,500/month 1 user; 65+ models; 50 GB storage
Pro US$45 ~AUD$63 5,000/month Custom model training; Gemini/GPT/Runway editing; advanced models; 500 GB
Max US$75 ~AUD$105 10,000/month Up to 25 users; team collaboration; 1 TB storage; high-priority queue
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom SOC 2; SSO; audit trail; dedicated support

Annual billing takes a third off every tier: Starter US$10 (~A$14), Pro US$30 (~A$42) and Max US$50 (~A$70) a month. Credit add-ons are available for purchase at any tier. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.

How it works in practice

Sign up at app.scenario.com — no credit card needed for the free tier. The free tier gives 50 daily credits and access to public foundation models, enough to get a feel for the interface.

The workflow for custom model training is: 1. Upload 10–30 images in your target style (1024×1024 recommended for style models; 5–15 images for a specific character or object) 2. Scenario trains the model — typically 30 minutes to a few hours depending on queue 3. Test with reference images, iterate, refine 4. Generate at scale from your custom model

The resulting outputs are noticeably more consistent than prompting a general-purpose model. If you have trained a custom model on your game's medieval fantasy character art, every generated character will share the proportions, palette, and line weight of your existing assets — without you having to describe all of that in every prompt.

The Starter plan ($15/month) does not include custom model training — that is a Pro feature. For a studio that wants the core value proposition, the minimum spend is US$45/month (about AUD$63 inc. estimated GST).

The API is genuinely production-ready. Scenario is API-first: you can push generation jobs from Unity or Unreal, automate batch runs, and deploy custom models to your team or to players (for user-generated content). Full docs at docs.scenario.com.

What it does well

Custom model training that works. Train a model on your existing art, and the outputs look like your art. This is the feature no general-purpose generator replicates well. For a studio with an established visual language, this removes the single biggest frustration with AI art tools: inconsistency.

SOC 2 Type II certification and data isolation. Your proprietary art stays yours. Generations are private by default. For studios with IP they cannot afford to expose to a shared model, this matters.

Multi-LoRA merging. Combine a character model with an environment model in a single generation pass. The practical effect is that you can generate a character in your game's world without two separate generations and manual compositing.

Commercial licence on all paid plans. You own your generated assets. No royalty payments, no usage restrictions beyond your plan. Ship them in a game, sell them, deliver them to clients.

Breadth of output formats. 2D images, videos, audio, and 3D meshes with PBR textures — the kind of pipeline that saves a small indie team from having to use five separate tools.

Free trial without friction. 50 daily credits, no credit card. Enough to test custom model training before committing.

What it doesn't do well

Starter plan is too limited. At US$15/month you get 1,500 credits and 65+ models, but no custom model training. The headline feature requires US$45/month minimum. Starter is a stepping-stone tier, not a useful standalone product for most studios.

Credits run out fast on video. Image generation is credit-efficient. Video burns credits quickly — 50 daily free credits will not get you far on video or complex 3D generation. Heavy users will find themselves needing the Max plan or regular top-ups.

Not built for general creative work. If you want to generate images without a trained model, Scenario works, but it offers no advantage over Midjourney, Flux, or Ideogram at the same price. Its value is almost entirely in the custom training layer.

No AUD pricing. Billed in USD, with no explicit AUD tier or GST-inclusive pricing displayed. Costs will vary with exchange rate movements.

Australian support is community-only on Starter. Ticket-based support starts at Pro. Enterprise gets Slack and a dedicated account team. If you are an Australian indie developer on the Starter plan and something breaks, you are on Discord.

Australian fit: commercial licensing, IP, and data residency

Commercial licence: Full commercial licence on all paid plans. Free plan outputs are for personal and evaluation use only. You own the generated assets outright — Scenario assigns all right, title, and interest in generated assets to you.

Training data and IP provenance: Scenario's foundation models come from Flux, GPT, Seedance, and similar providers. Scenario does not disclose the full training-data provenance of those foundation models — the licensing status of foundation model training data is an ongoing global issue. However, custom model training uses your own assets (which you own), so the IP lineage of custom-trained outputs is cleaner than outputs from general foundation models. (not published by Scenario — confirm the exact training-data terms for each foundation model via Scenario's model licences at help.scenario.com/en/articles/licenses-base-models/.)

Data residency: Scenario is US-based (Scenario, Inc.). No Australian data residency. SOC 2 Type II certified. Enterprise customers can negotiate a DPA with a no-training guarantee. Self-serve users should note Scenario may use anonymised usage insights to improve its services.

ACL/ACCC note: Australian Consumer Law's prohibition on misleading conduct applies to AI-generated content used in advertising. If you use Scenario-generated images in Australian ads, labelling and context matter — particularly for product imagery where consumers could reasonably mistake AI-generated images for photographs.

GST: Not itemised by the vendor. Under ATO rules a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow about 10% on top.

Alternatives

Scenario is a niche tool. If its specific strengths do not match your needs:

  • Midjourney (midjourney-review-australia-2026) — the benchmark for creative image generation quality. No custom model training; not suited to production consistency at scale.
  • Leonardo AI (leonardo-ai-review-australia-2026) — also offers custom model fine-tuning and is well-regarded in the game-dev community. More consumer-friendly pricing.
  • Adobe Firefly (adobe-firefly-review-australia-2026) — the safest commercial option from a training-data perspective, with brand style matching via Firefly Custom Models for enterprise.

Bottom line

Scenario is the right tool for a narrow but important use case: game studios, design agencies, and brand teams that need to generate images consistent with their existing visual style at production volume. The custom model training is its moat — and it works. SOC 2 certification and contractual no-training guarantees make it suitable for teams protecting proprietary IP. But it is expensive relative to general-purpose generators if you do not need the custom training (the feature costs US$45/month minimum), and it offers no meaningful advantage for one-off creative work. For Australian game developers or brand teams generating assets at scale: Scenario is worth the subscription. For everyone else: start with something more flexible.

  • 29 Sep 2026 — verified USD by browser; ladder clean. scenario.com/pricing on an Australian connection, Monthly selected on load: Starter $15, Pro $45, Max $75 a month, Enterprise custom (annual billing, minimum 10 users); Annual gives $10, $30 and $50. Credits (1,500 / 5,000 / 10,000), storage and the 50 free daily credits all hold. Bare $, no A$. Fixed a broken sentence in the pricing section ("GST treatment at checkout is.") and added the annual figures. Score unchanged. Source · capture Dossiers/captures/scenario-pricing-2026-09-29.txt
  • 21 Sep 2026 — The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table. The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: under the ATO rule our GST treatment rests on, a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service. Nothing was re-cut — the ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule: the column headed "AUD inc. GST est. (×1.10)" (Starter ~AUD$23; Pro ~AUD$69; Max ~AUD$116). The GST position is now stated in words once, beneath the table, in place of the old “Australian consumers may be liable for 10% GST” note — which was true of consumers and wrong for the GST-registered businesses this publication is written for. No USD price moved and no score changed. reviewed: untouched per our dating rule.
  • 21 Sep 2026 — citation fix, and the licensing flag it raised is now closed. A full-corpus citation check found three of five help.scenario.com sources returning HTTP 404. The FAQ was repointed to its new numeric-ID URL (content confirmed unchanged) and the two licensing articles have no live successor — Scenario restructured its help centre. That pass flagged “the per-model licence detail (SDXL vs Flux)” as unresolved. On re-checking, that flag was mistaken on both sides. This review never makes a per-model licence claim — SDXL is not mentioned anywhere in the body, verdict, FAQ or score notes; the only licensing statements here are that paid plans carry a full commercial licence, that you own your generated assets outright, and that free-plan outputs are personal and evaluation use only. And Scenario no longer draws that distinction either: its current terms treat all generated outputs uniformly regardless of which foundation model produced them. The detail was in the dead source pages, not in our text. All three surviving licensing claims were re-verified against live vendor pages — the terms and conditions for the ownership and commercial-use wording, the pricing page for the free-plan restriction, both quoted in Sources. Nothing is unsourced, no claim changed, no score changed. The review’s existing hedge on foundation-model training-data provenance (“Scenario does not disclose the full training-data provenance of those foundation models”) stands and is unaffected. No same-day capture — archive.org was returning “Temporarily Offline” and HTTP 429 on 21 September 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Can Australian businesses use Scenario-generated images commercially?

Yes, on all paid plans. Scenario assigns full ownership of generated assets to you — you can use them in games, sell them, or deliver them to clients without additional royalties. The free plan restricts outputs to personal and evaluation use only. Custom model outputs trained on your own assets have cleaner IP lineage than general foundation model outputs, though the training-data provenance of Scenario's base models is not fully disclosed. Australian businesses using AI-generated images in advertising should ensure content is accurate and not misleading under the Australian Consumer Law.

What does custom model training mean in Scenario, and how long does it take?

Custom model training lets you upload 10–30 of your own images and fine-tune an AI model that generates new images matching your visual style. For example, a game studio uploads 20 character sprites; Scenario trains a model that generates new characters with the same proportions, palette, and aesthetic without elaborate prompt engineering. Training typically takes 30 minutes to a few hours. Custom model training requires the Pro plan (US$45/month) or above — it is not available on the Starter or free tiers.

Does Scenario store or use my assets to train its own AI models?

Scenario states it does not use your data to train its models and that generations are private to your organisation by default. The platform is SOC 2 Type II certified. Enterprise customers on a signed Master Service Agreement and Data Processing Agreement get a contractual guarantee of no training on their data. Self-serve users (Starter, Pro, Max plans) are covered by the platform's privacy policy rather than a bespoke contract, and Scenario may use anonymised usage insights for service improvement. Scenario's Australian data residency: none — infrastructure is US-based.

Resolved 21 September 2026 — no claim in this review was left unsourced by their removal. Every licensing statement here was re-checked against live vendor pages: the terms and conditions carry the asset-ownership wording verbatim (“assigns to you all right, title, and interest in and to the Generated Assets… including commercial use, without additional fees to Scenario beyond your applicable plan fees”), and the pricing page carries the free-plan restriction verbatim (“Free plan outputs are for personal and evaluation use only”) against the paid plans’ full commercial licence. Both pages are cited above and below and were read live. Scenario’s current terms draw no distinction between foundation models at all — outputs are treated uniformly whatever the underlying model — so there is no per-model licence position left to re-source.
