The gate: Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow ~10% on top (Methodology).

Verdict (TL;DR): LTX Studio is not trying to be a quick clip generator. It is an end-to-end AI video production suite — you bring a script or concept, and it shepherds you through storyboarding, shot-by-shot generation, timeline editing, and audio, all in a single workspace. The underlying LTX-2.3 model is open-source and genuinely strong; the studio wraps it in a production workflow that would take a solo creator hours to replicate by stitching together separate tools. It also integrates third-party models including Veo 3.1, Kling, and FLUX.2 on paid plans, making it a multi-model hub rather than a single-model tool. The catch for Australians is the standard offshore package: USD-only billing, no AUD pricing, no GST invoice, and data processed outside Australia under Israeli law. The free plan is a real starting point; the Standard plan at USD $35/month (~A$49 ex GST) is where the tool becomes genuinely useful for commercial work. For an Australian filmmaker, marketer, or brand studio doing regular video production, this is a serious contender.

What LTX Studio is

LTX Studio is the commercial AI video production platform built by Lightricks, an Israeli software company. Lightricks is best known for consumer creative apps (FaceTune, Videoleap) but LTX Studio is firmly B2B in positioning — it targets filmmakers, advertising agencies, brand studios, and TV/media networks.

The backbone is Lightricks' own LTX-2.3 model, an open-source video generation model that can produce cinematic clips from text prompts and image references. LTX-2.3 is publicly available with full model weights on GitHub, which matters for credibility: you can evaluate the model independently of the commercial platform.

What LTX Studio adds around that model is the production workflow. The platform is structured as a creative suite with distinct workspaces:

  • Gen Space — generative workspace for text-to-video, text-to-image, image-to-video, and video-to-video
  • Storyboard — scene-by-scene pre-visualisation, with AI-assisted shot breakdowns from a script or concept
  • Timeline Editor — basic non-linear editing within the platform
  • Elements — character, object, and location consistency across shots using visual references
  • Flows — node-based automation for chaining generation steps

On Standard and Pro plans, LTX Studio also integrates third-party models: Veo 3.1 and Veo 3.1 Fast (Google), Kling 2.6 Pro and 3.0 Pro (Kuaishou), Seedance 2.0, FLUX.2 Pro, and ChatGPT Images 2.0. This makes it a genuine multi-model hub — you can choose the model best suited to a given shot without leaving the platform.

The company cites 135,000 producers, creative teams, and designers using LTX. Endorsers include director Taika Waititi, though that is a promotional endorsement rather than an independent assessment.

What it costs in Australia

LTX Studio prices in USD. There is no AUD pricing on the vendor website (ltx.io/studio/pricing) and no Australian billing entity. Australian subscribers will be billed in USD and should expect no GST-claimable tax invoice from Lightricks — self-assess GST accordingly.

Plan Price (USD/mo, monthly) Price (USD/mo, annual) Approx. AUD/mo ex-GST (monthly) Credits/mo
Free USD $0 USD $0 A$0 800 (one-time)
Lite USD $15 USD $12 ~A$21 8,000
Standard USD $35 USD $28 ~A$49 28,000
Pro USD $125 USD $100 ~A$175 110,000
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom Custom

Prices confirmed from ltx.io/studio/pricing on 26 June 2026 and re-read in a browser on an Australian connection on 29 September 2026. AUD conversions use ~1.40 USD:AUD (September 2026) and are ex-GST: a GST-registered business quoting its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add about 10%. Lightricks' Australian GST registration status is unconfirmed. Annual billing saves 20%.

Key licensing note: The Free tier is for personal use only — it explicitly cannot be used for business, marketing, or paid work. Commercial use requires Standard or above, which carries a commercial use licence. This is more restrictive than some competitors and matters for any Australian creator or business producing content for clients or commercial campaigns.

Refund policy: Lightricks' stated refund policy allows requests within 14 days of payment, provided usage does not exceed 1,200 credits. This is more generous than several competitors who offer no refunds.

How it works in practice

LTX Studio operates entirely in the browser — no download required, though Lightricks also offers an LTX Desktop application for offline model access.

The starting point is flexible: you can begin from a script, a concept description, an image, or an existing video. The storyboard mode is the most distinctive feature. Feed it a script and it breaks the narrative into scenes, generates image previews for each shot, and lets you adjust composition, character references, and camera movement before committing to video generation. This is a meaningful step up from tools that ask you to prompt cold.

The Elements system — where you define reusable Characters, Objects, and Locations from image references — solves the consistency problem that trips up most AI video workflows. Once you build an Element, it carries that visual identity across shots without you re-prompting it from scratch each time.

Generation quality on LTX-2.3 is strong for cinematic and stylised content. Photorealism at the level of Kling or Veo is not quite there yet, but for animation, stylised ads, and narrative storytelling the output is competitive. The HDR video enhancement (Standard and above) improves the final look meaningfully on compatible displays.

The workflow does have a learning curve. This is a production tool, not a one-click generator. A non-technical user will spend time learning what storyboards are for, how Elements work, and how to navigate the credit system. The time investment pays off at scale — it is genuinely faster than stitching separate tools together once you know it — but the onboarding is steeper than Haiper or Luma.

What it does well

End-to-end production workflow. Script to storyboard to generated video to timeline to audio in one workspace. No tool-switching, no exporting and reimporting. For a solo creator or small studio, that consolidation alone saves hours per project.

Multi-model integration. Access to Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 Pro, FLUX.2 Pro, and others inside a single platform on paid plans. You are not locked to LTX-2.3 — you can pick the model most suited to each shot.

Character and scene consistency via Elements. Define a character once from a reference image; Haiper appears across every shot looking like the same character. This is the feature that unlocks narrative content and makes LTX Studio genuinely useful for branded video production.

Open-source underlying model. LTX-2.3 is publicly available on GitHub with full weights. That transparency matters for businesses assessing the platform's longevity and for developers who want to run the model independently.

Solid credit economy. 28,000 credits per month on Standard for USD $35 is competitive. The refund policy (14-day, up to 1,200 credits) is more generous than most competitors.

Israeli company, not PRC. Lightricks is headquartered in Jerusalem. There is no Chinese law exposure and no PRC parent company. Privacy obligations follow Israeli law and GDPR alignment for EU/global users.

What it doesn't do well

Commercial licence starts at Standard, not Free or Lite. The Lite plan ($15/mo) also restricts commercial use. You need Standard ($35/mo, monthly) before you can legally use outputs for business, marketing, or paid work. That is a higher entry point than several competitors.

No AUD pricing or GST invoice. Standard offshore caveat, but still a real friction point for Australian businesses. USD billing from an Israeli company with no Australian billing entity. Self-assess GST.

No Australian data residency. Data is processed outside Australia. Lightricks' trust centre and privacy policy are available (trust.lightricks.com) but there is no Australian onshore data option. Enhanced data privacy (inputs and outputs not used for model training) is an Enterprise feature only.

Learning curve is real. The storyboard, Elements, and Flows workflows are powerful but not intuitive for first-time users. Budget time for onboarding. This is not a criticism of the design — it reflects the ambition of the tool — but it is honest about the investment required.

Veo 3.1 integration costs a lot of credits. Third-party model integrations (Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 Pro) consume significantly more credits than native LTX-2.3 generations. On Standard (28,000 credits/month) you will burn through credits faster than expected if you lean on the premium partner models. Running an actual production budget requires careful credit accounting.

Desktop-first, no mobile. LTX Studio is designed for desktop browsers and is explicitly not available on mobile. For a creative professional this is fine; for anyone who wants to review or manage projects on the go, it is a limitation.

Australian fit

LTX Studio is accessible to Australians with no geo-block. The platform is in English and the web interface works fine from an Australian connection.

Pricing: USD-only. No AUD pricing on the vendor website. No Australian billing entity, no ABN, and no GST-claimable tax invoice. (confirm GST treatment at checkout) Australian business subscribers should self-assess GST treatment.

Data residency: Data is processed outside Australia by Lightricks Ltd (Israel) and its infrastructure providers. No Australian data region. The trust centre at trust.lightricks.com covers SOC 2 and ISO compliance for the Enterprise tier. Enhanced data privacy (inputs/outputs not used for training) is Enterprise-only — on Free, Lite, Standard, and Pro plans, your content may be used to improve Lightricks' models.

Support: Global support via help.ltx.io. No Australian-specific support channel or business-hours coverage in AEST. Enterprise customers get dedicated account management.

Company: Lightricks Ltd, Jerusalem, Israel. No Chinese law exposure. GDPR-adjacent privacy framework. Not a local Australian business.

Australian Fit score: 2/5. Available and fully functional in Australia, with a credible Western-jurisdiction company and no China risk. But USD billing, no GST invoice, no AU data, no local support, and the commercial-use restriction on lower tiers push the score down.

Alternatives

Runway — The established professional benchmark. More refined post-production tools and a longer track record. Narrower feature breadth than LTX Studio's end-to-end suite, but more polished for pure video generation quality.

Google Veo (via Google AI) — Google's own video model is available through Vertex AI and Gemini plans. Better for Australians who want Google data infrastructure and a local billing entity option. Less end-to-end production workflow.

Kling AI — Strongest cinematic realism per dollar among Chinese-made competitors. Available as a partner model inside LTX Studio on Standard+ plans — which raises the question of whether you need both, or just one with the other bolted in.

Bottom line

LTX Studio is the most complete AI video production environment I have reviewed. It is the tool that most closely approximates what a small production studio would want: script input, storyboarding, consistent characters, multi-model generation, timeline editing, and audio in a single workspace. The underlying LTX-2.3 model is strong, and the integration of Veo 3.1 and Kling on higher plans gives access to the best models in the market without leaving the platform.

For a serious Australian creator, filmmaker, or marketing team doing regular video production, the Standard plan at USD $35/month (~A$49 ex GST) is a credible spend. The commercial licence threshold — needing Standard rather than Lite — is the main pricing catch.

The caveats are the familiar offshore ones: USD billing, no GST invoice, no Australian data residency. These are manageable for most business buyers but require accounting discipline. If you need onshore data, this is not the tool.

If you produce video professionally and you have been stitching together three or four separate AI tools to do it, LTX Studio is worth testing seriously.

Criterion Score Notes
Value for Money 4/5 Standard at USD $35/mo is competitive for the breadth on offer. Commercial-use restriction below Standard is the main catch.
Ease of Use 3/5 Powerful but has a real learning curve. Not a beginner tool. Production professionals will appreciate the depth.
Feature Depth 5/5 End-to-end production suite — storyboard, generation, Elements consistency, multi-model integration, timeline editing, audio. Best in category.
Australian Fit 2/5 No AUD pricing, no GST invoice, no AU data, no local support. Israeli company — no China-jurisdiction risk.
Reliability & Support 2/5 SOC 2/ISO compliance on Enterprise. Inputs/outputs may train models on lower plans. No AU support channel.

  • 29 Sep 2026 — verified USD by browser; ladder clean. ltx.io/studio/pricing on an Australian connection: Free $0 (800 credits, one-time), Lite $15 monthly / $12 on yearly billing ($144 a year, 8,000 credits), Standard $35 / $28 ($336, 28,000), Pro $125 / $100 ($1,200, 110,000) — every figure holds. Bare dollar sign, priceCurrency: USD in the page's schema, no A$. The table note still described a "GST estimate that adds 10%" beside an ex-GST column; reworded to the ex-GST basis the figures actually use. No price changed. • 21 Sep 2026 — A duplicate AUD column removed — the 6 September re-basing rebased the GST column instead of deleting it. The table carried two AUD columns holding identical figures, under a header that still described the second as a 10% gross-up. Every figure in it was already the ex-GST conversion, so no number changed; the column said something the column did not contain. Under our GST rule our conversions are shown ex-GST and the GST position is stated in words once, so the surviving column is headed ex-GST at USD→AUD 1.4045 (ECB reference rate, 18 September 2026). Here both duplicate columns were already headed ex GST — “Approx. AUD/mo ex GST (monthly)” and “Approx. AUD/mo ex-GST est. (monthly)” — so the table printed the same Australian price twice with no stated difference at all. No USD price moved and no score changed. reviewed: untouched per our dating rule.
