ClickUp Launches Brain² in 2026 — Multi-Model AI Inside One Workspace
ClickUp has rebuilt its AI. On 12 May 2026 the company launched Brain², an agentic refresh of the AI layer baked into its project-management platform. The headline is choice: instead of one model, Brain² routes your request to whichever engine suits the job.
What changed
Brain² adds multi-model routing across several engines from inside one workspace. Per ClickUp, those include GPT-5.2, Claude Opus, Gemini and the company's own proprietary model, Brain m1. You pick the model, or let Brain² pick for you.
The refresh also widens what the AI can produce. Brain² now generates slide decks and writes code, on top of the existing summarising, drafting and task-automation features. CEO Zeb Evans framed it as a shift from a chat box to an agent that acts across your work.
It did not come from nowhere. ClickUp acquired Qatalog in November 2025 and Codegen in December 2025. The slide and code capabilities trace directly to those deals.
What it means for Australians
For an Australian small business, the appeal is real. Model choice inside the tool you already use for tasks means you are not paying for, and learning, three separate AI subscriptions. One workspace, several engines, one bill.
Two cautions, though. First, billing. ClickUp prices in US dollars. There is no published AUD price for Brain², and no GST line — you convert and reconcile yourself. At roughly 1.40 to the dollar, budget accordingly and treat the sticker price as USD until ClickUp says otherwise.
Second, data residency. Brain² routes your prompts — and whatever context they carry — to third-party model providers. If you store sensitive client or financial data in ClickUp, check where that data is processed and stored before you turn the AI loose on it. For finance, legal and health work, that question matters before convenience does. This is not a knock on ClickUp; it is the homework any multi-model tool demands.
Does it change our recommendation
We have not published a full ClickUp review yet, so there is no rating to revise. Brain² does, however, sharpen the case for putting ClickUp through our scoring framework — multi-model routing in one workspace is a genuinely useful pattern for AU SMBs, and worth assessing properly.
When we do review it, the verdict will turn on the usual measures: value in AUD, ease of use, feature depth, and Australian fit. On that last one, USD-only billing and unconfirmed data residency are the things to watch. A capable feature set does not earn a top score on its own — it has to serve Australians well. See our methodology for how we weigh that.
For now: if you already run ClickUp, Brain² is worth a look, with the billing and data-residency caveats above. If you don't, this is not the reason to switch — wait for the scored review.
