Gamma vs Beautiful.ai for Australian teams — which AI deck maker wins in 2026
Our pick: Gamma. The verdict below says who should buy the other.
Editor's note: Every pricing and feature claim below is carried from our full Gamma review and Beautiful.ai review (both last reviewed 7 June 2026, anchored to each vendor's pricing page with a same-day Wayback snapshot). AUD figures use the editorial standard rate of US$1 ≈ A$1.40 and assume 10% GST handled at the overseas-supplier checkout. See our Methodology for how we score.
Most Australian small-business owners don't need another presentation app. They need a deck for Thursday's pitch and they need it tonight. Two AI tools promise to get you there: Gamma and Beautiful.ai. Both take a prompt and hand back a structured deck in about two minutes. That's where the similarity ends.
Gamma sells speed to the solo operator. Beautiful.ai sells consistency to teams. On our framework they don't tie — Gamma scores 20/25, Beautiful.ai 18/25 — but the score gap matters less than the job you're hiring the tool to do. For a Melbourne consultant firing off a one-off client deck, the answer is obvious. For a five-person agency that needs every deck to look on-brand without a designer checking each one, it's the other tool.
Here's the honest head-to-head.
TL;DR
- For speed from zero — Gamma wins. A usable draft deck in roughly two minutes, and a genuinely useful free tier to prove it before you pay.
- For brand consistency across a team — Beautiful.ai wins. Its auto-layout engine makes an off-brand, misaligned slide almost impossible.
- For value in AUD — Gamma wins. Plus at about A$12.60/month billed annually undercuts Beautiful.ai Pro at about A$20.30/month, and Gamma lets you start free. (Prices re-verified 21 September 2026: both vendors have repriced since this piece was written, and Beautiful.ai's Teams plan turns out to be a flat rate for three users, not a per-seat one — see the pricing section.)
- For trying before you buy — Gamma wins outright. Beautiful.ai has no free tier and its 14-day trial wants your credit card and auto-charges.
- For Australian fit — a draw, and not a flattering one. Both score 3/5: USD-only billing, US data storage, no AU support. Neither clears our Australian Fit gate.
For most Australian small businesses: Gamma is the better tool and the better value. Choose Beautiful.ai only if brand consistency across a team matters more than speed and price.

Both tools earn four stars, not five: under our Australian Fit gate, five stars needs Australian Fit ≥ 4/5, and both sit at 3/5 — USD-only billing and US data storage.
What both tools do
Strip away the marketing and both products do the same three things. You give them a starting point — a one-line prompt, a pasted document, a set of notes — and they generate a full first-draft deck: structure, written content, layout, and images. You edit in a browser. You export to PowerPoint or PDF, or share a link.
Both are genuinely fast. In our testing, Gamma turned "a 10-slide pitch for a Hobart café launching a weekend degustation night" into a structured deck in under two minutes. Beautiful.ai produced a clean 12-slide "new-client onboarding deck for a Melbourne accounting practice" in about two minutes that needed almost no visual tidying.
Both also share the same Australian blind spots, covered in full below: USD-only billing, US data storage, no local support, and no native AUD tax invoice. Neither defaults to Australian English — you have to prompt for it and proof for "color"/"colour" drift before sending.
The difference is philosophy. Gamma generates freely and fast, then lets you restyle. Beautiful.ai constrains everything to a design system so the output is consistent by default. That single choice drives everything else.
Pricing in Australia — the real numbers
Both tools bill in US dollars. There's no AUD pricing at either checkout. The figure that lands on your card depends on your bank's FX rate plus any foreign-transaction fee, with 10% GST added at the checkout rather than shown as a native AUD invoice. Here are the all-in AUD figures at the editorial standard rate.

The pricing takeaway: Gamma wins on value at the individual tier, clearly. Its entry paid plan (Plus, ~A$12.60/month annual) is well under half Beautiful.ai's (Pro, ~A$20.30/month annual), and Gamma lets you do real work on a free tier before paying a cent. Beautiful.ai has no free tier at all — to test it you hand over card details for a 14-day trial that auto-charges if you forget to cancel.
At the team level the answer has flipped, and this piece had it backwards. Beautiful.ai's Teams plan is a flat US$40/month that includes three users — about A$56 for the team, roughly A$18.70 a head — not US$40 per user as we previously stated. Gamma has meanwhile retired the US$20/seat Team tier this comparison cited; its multi-user plan is now Business at US$40/seat/month (~A$56/seat). For a three-person team that is about A$168/month on Gamma against A$56 on Beautiful.ai. If you are buying for a small team rather than yourself, Beautiful.ai is now the cheaper of the two by a wide margin. (Both sets of figures re-verified 21 September 2026.)
Where Gamma wins
- Speed from zero. A usable first-draft deck in roughly two minutes from a single prompt. Nothing in this category is meaningfully faster, and Beautiful.ai doesn't try to be — it's built for polish, not the two-minute thrill.
- A genuinely useful free tier. You can produce real work without paying. Beautiful.ai has no free tier and a card-gated trial, so Gamma is the only one of the two you can try risk-free.
- Value at every tier. Cheaper entry plan, cheaper team seats. For a price-sensitive Australian small business, the maths favours Gamma.
- Web-page publishing. Gamma's signature move is publishing a deck as a responsive web page with its own link and view analytics — better for sending to a client than a 30 MB PowerPoint attachment. Beautiful.ai gives you viewer analytics but not the same shareable web format.
- One-click restyling and "refresh." Change the whole deck's look instantly, or regenerate a single card without touching the rest. Lower bar for non-designers.
Gamma's knocks, carried from our review: the card system trades fine layout control for speed, default outputs can read as "AI-generated" without your own brand fonts (a Pro-tier feature), and the credit model adds a mental tax — you ration generations rather than experiment freely on lower tiers.
Where Beautiful.ai wins
- Consistency by default. The auto-layout engine re-balances every slide as you add content — add a fourth bullet and the spacing adjusts; add an image and the text reflows. You essentially can't make an ugly, misaligned slide. It's the strongest consistency story in the category.
- Brand control for teams. Lock your logo, colours and fonts once, and every deck the team builds inherits them. For a consultancy where five people send client decks, that's worth real money — and it's exactly where Gamma's freer, faster approach is weaker.
- Enterprise credentials. SOC 2 Type II and GDPR certification — reassuring for larger Australian organisations with procurement checklists. Gamma publishes no equivalent.
- Corporate-ready drafts. Because output is constrained by the design system, AI drafts land closer to "send it" for business audiences, with less design tidying than Gamma's freely-generated decks.
- Maturity. In market since 2018, versus Gamma's 2022 — fewer rough edges than the newer crop of tools.
Beautiful.ai's knocks, carried from our review: it's pricier than Gamma with no free tier, the auto-layout that keeps things tidy also fights you when you want a bespoke layout, and it lacks the "fast wow" — if speed from zero is your priority, Gamma beats it.
Australian fit — where both tools fall short
This is the part the international reviews skip, and it's where neither tool covers itself in glory. Both score 3/5 on our Australian Fit scale — AU-compatible, not AU-first.
Pricing. Both are USD-only with no AUD option at checkout. Budget for currency conversion and a possible foreign-transaction fee on top of the headline price.
Data residency. Both store content on US-based infrastructure, and neither publishes an Australian data-residency commitment — assume offshore (US) hosting. For a public marketing deck that's usually low-stakes; for client financials or unreleased IP, factor it in before you paste. Beautiful.ai's edge here is its SOC 2 Type II and GDPR certifications, which speak to security controls — though neither is an Australian standard.
GST. Both bill in USD with the 10% GST added at the checkout, not shown as a native AUD tax invoice. Check the line items at purchase and keep the receipt for your BAS if you're claiming it.
Support. Both run email-based support on US hours, with no AU phone line. Documentation and community carry the load.
AU-aware outputs. Both generate in whatever English you prompt them in. Ask for Australian spelling and AUD figures and they comply; neither defaults to them.
The verdict on local fit is a genuine draw: both are available and work well here, but both are clearly built for the US/global market. Under our Australian Fit gate, a tool needs Australian Fit ≥ 4/5 to wear five stars or to be named our category Top Pick. Neither Gamma nor Beautiful.ai clears it — which is why Gamma, despite being the stronger tool on merit and our Editor's Choice for the category, cannot be the formal gated Top Pick. In this category that title goes to Canva Magic Studio (Australian Fit 4/5), the Sydney-built, AUD-billed all-rounder. If keeping data onshore or billing in AUD is a hard requirement, start there.
If you're X, pick Y
- If you're a solo operator or small business owner who needs the occasional sharp deck without losing an afternoon — pick Gamma. Start on the free tier, move to Plus (~A$12.60/month annual) when you hit the credit wall. It's faster and cheaper, and the web-page sharing beats emailing a heavy PowerPoint.
- If you run an agency, consultancy, or sales team that sends a lot of decks and needs every one on-brand without a designer checking each — pick Beautiful.ai. The auto-layout engine and Team brand controls are exactly what you're paying the premium for, even at ~A$56/seat/month.
- If you want to test before you commit — pick Gamma. It's the only one of the two with a free tier; Beautiful.ai's trial wants your card and auto-charges.
- If brand consistency matters more than speed or price — pick Beautiful.ai. It's the one job it does better than anything else in the category.
- If you need onshore data or AUD billing — pick neither. Start with Canva Magic Studio, the only tool in this category that clears our Australian Fit gate.
- If you'd rather not adopt a new app at all — look at Plus AI, which adds AI generation inside Google Slides and PowerPoint.
Verdict
This isn't a close call for most readers. For the central use case this category serves — an Australian small business that needs a good deck fast, without paying for a design team — Gamma is the better tool and the better value. It's faster from zero, materially cheaper, and the only one of the two you can try free. That's why it's our Editor's Choice for the category, even though its 3/5 Australian Fit keeps it from being the formal gated Top Pick.
Beautiful.ai wins one fight, and wins it well: brand consistency across a team. If you're an agency or consultancy where five people send client decks and they all need to look the same without a designer in the loop, the auto-layout engine and brand controls are worth the premium. For everyone else, the no-free-tier, card-gated trial and higher price are hard to justify against Gamma.
Both bill in US dollars and store your data in the US, so neither is the answer if onshore data is a hard requirement — that's Canva. But on the core job of getting from idea to a sharp, shareable deck, Gamma is the one to reach for first.
A note for professional use
Presentation tools are low-stakes compared with legal, finance, HR, or medical software — but the content you put in them may not be. If a deck contains client financials, legal advice, health information, or anything commercially sensitive, remember both tools store it on US infrastructure with no Australian data-residency commitment. Don't treat an AI-generated deck's figures, claims, or compliance language as verified, and don't rely on either tool's output as a substitute for qualified professional advice in legal, financial, accounting, HR, or medical matters. Check the numbers, and have a professional review anything that carries real risk.
Frequently asked questions
Which is cheaper for an Australian user?
Gamma for one person; Beautiful.ai for a small team. Gamma's entry paid plan (Plus) is about A$12.60/month billed annually, against Beautiful.ai Pro at about A$20.30/month, and Gamma has a genuinely useful free tier while Beautiful.ai has none. But Beautiful.ai's Teams plan is a flat ~A$56/month for three users, where Gamma's multi-user plan (Business) is ~A$56 per seat — so for a team of three, Beautiful.ai is roughly a third of the cost.
Can I try either one free?
Gamma, yes — a real free tier with 400 starter AI credits and unlimited basic decks (with a Gamma badge on shared work). Beautiful.ai has no free tier; its 14-day trial requires a credit card and auto-charges unless you cancel before it ends.
Which makes better-looking decks?
Different strengths. Beautiful.ai produces more consistent, "corporate-ready" output by default because its auto-layout engine constrains every slide. Gamma is faster and more flexible but its default look can read as AI-generated until you add your own brand fonts and colours (a Pro-tier feature).
Does either store my data in Australia?
No. Both store content on US-based infrastructure and neither publishes an Australian data-residency commitment. Beautiful.ai holds SOC 2 Type II and GDPR certifications, which speak to security controls but aren't Australian standards. If onshore data is a hard requirement, look at Canva.
Can I claim either as a business expense in Australia?
For tools used in producing assessable income, generally yes — but both bill in USD with GST added at the checkout rather than as a native AUD tax invoice. Check the receipt for the GST line and the supplier's details, and keep it for your BAS. Talk to your accountant before treating it as deductible. This is general commentary, not tax advice.
How often is this comparison updated?
Quarterly at minimum, and immediately on any material change to pricing, plans, or Australian availability for either tool. The "last reviewed" date at the top is the source of truth.
