AgriWebb vs Cibo Labs PastureKey 2026: Which Should an Australian Grazier Buy First?
Our pick: AgriWebb. The verdict below says who should buy the other.
Two of the strongest Australian tools in our AgTech slate keep getting set against each other, and the framing is usually wrong. AgriWebb and Cibo Labs PastureKey aren't really rivals. One manages your livestock; the other measures your feed. They're built to work together — PastureKey pushes satellite pasture data straight onto your AgriWebb map every five days. Most serious graziers end up running both.
But you rarely buy both on day one. Budget, time and your actual bottleneck decide what goes first. So this is a comparison about sequencing: given a fixed dollar and a real operation, which tool earns its keep first? We've reviewed both in full and scored each 21/25. Here we put them head to head on price, job and Australian fit, and give you a clear call.
Quick look
| AgriWebb | Cibo Labs PastureKey | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Livestock farm-management platform | Satellite pasture-biomass measurement |
| The one job | Records, mapping, compliance, grazing planning | How much feed is in each paddock |
| Our score | 21/25 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 21/25 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Australian Fit | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Data residency | Onshore (Australian servers) | Offshore (AWS US) |
| Pricing model | Per-head calculator, no public rate card | Public, area-based, from A$500/yr ex GST |
| Built | Sydney, 2014 | Queensland |
| Best first buy for | Anyone still on paper records | Anyone guessing their feed across hundreds of hectares |
Both clear our top band, and both clear the Australian Fit gate at 5/5 — so neither has its star rating capped under the Australian Fit gate, and both are eligible to be a category Top Pick on AU fit grounds. The deciding factor here isn't the scoreboard. It's the job.
What each costs in Australia
The two price in completely different ways, which matters as much as the dollar figure.
PastureKey publishes a real, area-based rate card. AgriWebb prices off a per-head calculator and publishes no rate card at all — you enter your stock numbers and it returns a quote, so we can't responsibly print an AgriWebb annual figure here. What we can do is show PastureKey's published tiers on our house GST-inclusive basis, and lay out AgriWebb's known add-on costs.
Cibo Labs PastureKey (listed ex GST; shown here inc GST at 10%):
| Property size | Annual ex GST | Annual inc GST |
|---|---|---|
| Under 500 ha | $500 | ~A$550 |
| Under 1,000 ha | $1,000 | ~A$1,100 |
| Under 3,000 ha | $1,250 | ~A$1,375 |
| Under 10,000 ha | $1,750 | ~A$1,925 |
| Up to 1,000,000 ha | $11,250 | ~A$12,375 |
There's a 30-day full-access free trial, and MLA members can use the coarser Australian Feedbase Monitor for nothing. Premium support and historical back-processing are paid add-ons.
AgriWebb prices per head across three tiers (Essentials, Compliance, Performance), billed monthly or annually with no lock-in, and at review time advertised a 40% year-one discount plus a free trial. There's no published "from A$X/year" anchor — the calculator is the only firm figure. Known add-ons: Movement Planning and Grazing Planning at A$300/year each, and — note this — Cibo Labs PastureKey from A$1,000/year as an in-platform integration.
That last line is the real pricing story. You can buy PastureKey directly from Cibo or as an AgriWebb add-on. If you're already in AgriWebb, the feed data is one tick-box and roughly A$1,000/year away. The two costs stack; they don't compete.
Different jobs, not a feature fight
A feature-by-feature table would be misleading, because there's almost no overlap. Here's the honest split.
| Capability | AgriWebb | PastureKey |
|---|---|---|
| Paddock-by-paddock feed estimate | Only via the Cibo integration | Yes — its entire purpose |
| Livestock records (mobs, treatments, weights, deaths) | Yes | No |
| NLIS / LPA compliance trail | Yes | No |
| Interactive farm map | Yes | Yes (biomass map) |
| Grazing / rotation planning | Yes | Feeds the plan with data |
| On-farm hardware needed | No | No |
| Works offline in the yards | Offline-tolerant, phone-first | Cloud-only; needs a signal to view |
| Headline AI maturity | Foragecaster still in beta | Shipping; Oct 2025 upgrade roughly halved error |
Two things stand out. First, AgriWebb's flagship AI — Foragecaster, its 60-million-animal pasture forecaster — is genuine and Australian-trained, but still in beta and 1.5–3 years from full maturity. The real-AI feature you can lean on in AgriWebb today is, in fact, the Cibo Labs pasture feed. Second, PastureKey's machine learning is already shipping and measurably improving: its October 2025 model cut mean absolute error from 235 kg/ha to 113 kg/ha. If you want working AI under the stock right now, PastureKey is the one that delivers it.
Second point worth dwelling on: connectivity. AgriWebb is built phone-first and offline-tolerant, so you can capture records in a black spot and sync later. PastureKey runs entirely in the cloud — you need a connection to read the feed map. In genuinely remote country, that's a meaningful difference in how each behaves day to day.
The one place Australian Fit splits
Both score 5/5 on Australian Fit, but they get there differently, and there's one divergence that can be decisive for some businesses.
AgriWebb stores Australian customer data on Australian servers under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Cibo Labs, despite being a Queensland company calibrated on 7,500+ Australian ground sites, hosts farm and paddock-boundary data on AWS servers in the United States.
This doesn't move either score — both clear the gate at 5/5, so neither star rating is capped under the Australian Fit gate, and the AU-Fit cases (Australian-built, AUD-priced, locally calibrated) are overwhelming on both sides. But if data sovereignty is a hard contractual requirement for your operation — some corporate and government-adjacent agribusinesses have exactly that — AgriWebb's onshore storage is a genuine point of difference. The sensitivity is lower for PastureKey than it would be for a health or legal tool, since the underlying imagery is public ESA Sentinel-2 data; what leaves the country is your boundaries and account details. Know it, weigh it, and ask Cibo in writing if it's a line you can't cross.
Honest limitations
Neither is flawless, and we don't pretend otherwise. AgriWebb's headline AI is still beta, its real annual cost is invisible until you commit your stock numbers, and full-record data export is handled only on request "where technically feasible" — settle your exit path before you build a decade of history in it. PastureKey does feed and only feed: no livestock records, no cropping tools, and optical satellites lose to cloud and timber, so a 113 kg/ha median error is still an estimate to ground-truth, not gospel.
Who should pick which
Buy AgriWebb first if your records still live on paper, in a diary or a spreadsheet, and your real problem is compliance, mob histories and knowing your cost of production. That's the larger, more common gap on Australian grazing properties, and AgriWebb is the category benchmark for filling it. Its onshore data storage also makes it the safer first move if sovereignty matters to you. Then add the Cibo feed layer when you're ready.
Buy PastureKey first if your records are already in reasonable shape but you're flying blind on feed across hundreds or thousands of hectares — especially heading into a dry season, where knowing your standing dry matter paddock by paddock is the difference between selling early and getting caught short. It's cheaper to start (from ~A$550/year inc GST), faster to value, and you can trial it free as an MLA member before paying a cent.
The winner, if forced to name one for a typical mixed grazier still on paper: AgriWebb. It solves the bigger, more common problem first, it stores your data onshore, and it can carry PastureKey's feed data inside it when you add it. But this is a sequencing call, not a knockout — for a well-organised operation whose only real gap is feed, PastureKey is the smarter first dollar. The honest end state for most serious graziers is both, with Cibo measuring the feed and AgriWebb managing the stock against it.
Frequently asked questions
Are AgriWebb and Cibo Labs PastureKey available in Australia?
Yes. Both are Australian-built and Australia-ready — AgriWebb was founded in Sydney in 2014, and Cibo Labs PastureKey is a Queensland company calibrated on thousands of Australian ground sites.
Do they charge in AUD?
Yes, both price in Australian dollars. PastureKey publishes an area-based rate card from A$500/year ex GST. AgriWebb prices per head through a calculator with no public rate card, so you only get a firm AUD figure once you enter your stock numbers.
Is there a free trial?
Yes for both. PastureKey offers a 30-day full-access free trial, and MLA members can use the coarser Australian Feedbase Monitor for free. AgriWebb advertised a free trial plus a 40% year-one discount at review time.
Which is better for Australian data residency?
AgriWebb. It stores Australian customer data on Australian servers under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Cibo Labs hosts farm and paddock-boundary data on AWS servers in the United States, so if onshore storage is a hard requirement, AgriWebb is the safer choice.
Which should I buy first?
For a typical mixed grazier still on paper, AgriWebb — it solves the bigger, more common compliance and records problem and stores your data onshore. Buy PastureKey first if your records are already in order but you're flying blind on feed across large areas.
