> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Salesforce Einstein is not a standalone app you sign up for. It's the AI layer built into Salesforce's CRM — the predictions, the draft emails, the call summaries, the chat agents. You only get it if you already run, or are about to run, Salesforce. For an Australian business already on the platform, that's the whole point. The AI sits on the customer data you already trust it with, and that data can be stored in **AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2)**. The seat licences bill in **native AUD**, which is rare and welcome. **Core** (the old Enterprise edition) costs **AU$273/user/month**; the all-in **Max** bundle costs **AU$770/user/month**. Three things cost it points. The newer **Agentforce** agent layer is metered in **US dollars** (US$0.10 per action via Flex Credits, or US$2 per conversation). The real-world bill includes **Data Cloud** (now Data 360) and a six-figure implementation. And none of this makes sense for a small business that isn't already a Salesforce shop. If you're on Salesforce, Einstein is a strong, well-governed AI add-on. If you're not, this is the wrong front door. Not a tool you "try" — a platform decision.

## What Salesforce Einstein is

Einstein is the brand name for the artificial intelligence built into Salesforce, the customer relationship management (CRM) platform a large share of Australian sales and service teams already run on. It is not a separate product you download. It is a layer of AI features that live inside Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and the rest of the Salesforce suite, working on the customer data already sitting in your org.

In practice, Einstein does three kinds of work. **Predictive AI** scores your leads and opportunities, forecasts which deals will close, and flags customers likely to churn — trained on your own historical data. **Generative AI** drafts the sales email, writes the first reply to a support case, and summarises a long call or a messy case history into a few lines. And the newest layer, **Agentforce**, builds chat and voice agents that can actually do things — look up an order, update a record, resolve a routine case — rather than just suggest text for a human to send.

The branding has shifted over the past two years, and it's worth being clear about it. "Einstein" remains the umbrella name for the AI; **Einstein Copilot** is the conversational assistant inside the CRM; **Agentforce** is the autonomous-agent product Salesforce now pushes hardest; and the **Einstein Trust Layer** is the security wrapper that sits between your data and the large language model. If you read older write-ups calling it "Einstein GPT," that's the same lineage — the name moved on.

One thing to fix in your head before you read a price: **you cannot buy Einstein on its own.** It is sold as part of, or as an add-on to, a Salesforce CRM licence. That single fact shapes everything about how it lands for an Australian buyer.

## What it costs in Australia

Here's the good news, and it's genuinely good. Salesforce's Australian pricing page bills the CRM seats in **native Australian dollars** — not a USD figure with tax bolted on at checkout. The currency is real, local and shown up front.

| Plan (Sales Cloud) | Price (AUD, billed annually) | AI included |
| ------------------------------------ | ---------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Starter Suite** | AU$35/user/mo | Basic email/activity AI |
| **Pro Suite** | AU$140/user/mo | Some automation; Einstein largely an add-on |
| **Core** (was Enterprise, AU$245) | AU$273/user/mo | Slack Business+ and Tableau Next bundled; the entry point for adding AI |
| **Advanced** (was Unlimited, AU$490) | AU$553/user/mo | "More AI", enhanced security (Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect, Security Centre) |
| **Max** (was Agentforce 1 Sales) | **AU$770/user/mo** | "Our full suite of AI": Agentforce for Sales and Agentforce Coworker, plus Spiff, Sales Planning and Maps; 2.75M Flex Credits/org/year |

*Sales Cloud pricing as shown on the Australian Salesforce site (salesforce.com/au/sales/pricing) on 8 October 2026, in native AUD, billed annually (Starter can also be billed monthly). By late September 2026 Salesforce had renamed the top three editions and raised the middle two by 11–13%. "AI can be added to Core and above" — much of Einstein is an add-on to these seats, not automatically switched on.*

Now the catch, and it's a real one. The **Agentforce** agent layer — the part Salesforce markets hardest — is metered separately, and that meter is priced in **US dollars**, not AUD. Per Salesforce's own pricing announcement, **Flex Credits** cost **US$500 per 100,000 credits**, one standard agent action consumes **20 credits (≈ US$0.10)**, and the older **conversational model** is **US$2 per conversation**. At the RBA rate of 7 October 2026 (US$1 ≈ A$1.43, ex-GST), that's about **A$0.14 per action** or **A$2.86 per conversation** — and a busy support agent runs through a lot of actions. Salesforce's pricing page says Foundations includes "limited" Flex Credits and Data 360 credits, and the Max edition lists 2.75M Flex Credits per org a year. Treat any included credits as a starting allowance, not a working budget.

**Value verdict:** For the seats, AUD billing is a real plus and the per-user prices are in line with what enterprise CRM costs. The rename lifted the middle of the ladder: the cheapest edition you can add AI to is now AU$273 a seat, up from AU$245\. A 20-seat team on the old Unlimited tier now pays AU$15,120 a year more at list (20 × AU$63 × 12). But Einstein's true cost is never just the seat. You're typically adding **Data Cloud** (so the AI has unified data to work on), the **Agentforce** meter on top, and — the part vendors gloss over — an implementation that for any real org runs into five or six figures. This is enterprise pricing for an enterprise tool. It is not, and is not trying to be, a cheap AI assistant for a sole trader.

## How it works in practice

If your team already lives in Salesforce, Einstein is genuinely useful because it shows up where the work already happens. A salesperson opening an opportunity sees a lead score and a "why" beside it. A rep finishing a call gets an **Einstein Conversation Insights** summary instead of typing notes. A service agent gets a drafted reply to a case, grounded in your knowledge base, that they edit and send. None of this asks the user to leave the CRM or learn a new app — that's the core strength.

The generative features lean on the **Einstein Trust Layer**, which is the part that should reassure an Australian buyer worried about feeding customer data to an AI. Salesforce states the Trust Layer masks sensitive data before it reaches the language model, and operates **zero data retention** with its model partners — the LLM processes the prompt and keeps nothing. Salesforce's model partners include OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, AWS and Google, and the platform offers regional data-residency options that include Australia.

**Agentforce** is the newest and least settled piece. Building an agent that reliably resolves real cases — not just answers FAQs — takes configuration, testing and clean data, and the per-action billing means a badly scoped agent can quietly cost you money. It's capable, but it's a project, not a switch you flip.

The honest friction point: none of this is fast to stand up. Einstein assumes a working Salesforce org, reasonably clean data, and usually an admin or implementation partner. The AI is good; the runway to value is long.

## What it does well

- **The AI sits on data you already trust it with.** Einstein works inside the CRM, on your own customer records — no exporting, no second tool, no bolting an AI onto data it can't see.
- **It bills the seats in native AUD.** Salesforce shows Australian buyers real AUD prices on its AU pricing page — a genuine rarity among large US AI vendors.
- **Your data can stay in Sydney.** Einstein and Agentforce instances run in **AWS ap-southeast-2 (Sydney)**, and Hyperforce gives Australian orgs in-country data storage — a real answer for regulated industries.
- **A serious data-governance story.** The Einstein Trust Layer's data masking and zero-retention-with-the-LLM design is a credible, primary-stated position for businesses nervous about AI and customer data.
- **Depth, because it's part of a mature platform.** Predictive scoring, generative drafting, call summaries, forecasting and autonomous agents — all inside one of the most established CRMs in the market.

## What to watch out for

- **You can't buy it on its own.** Einstein is only sold with or on top of a Salesforce CRM licence. If you're not on Salesforce, this is a platform migration, not an AI purchase.
- **The agent layer prices in USD.** Seats bill in AUD, but Agentforce Flex Credits (US$500/100k, ≈US$0.10/action) and the US$2/conversation model are US-dollar-denominated — your AI usage carries currency risk the seats don't.
- **The real bill is much bigger than the seat.** Add Data Cloud, the Agentforce meter, and a five-to-six-figure implementation before you call this "AU$273 a user."
- **Wrong tool for a small business.** A 35-year-old running a small Australian business who just wants an AI assistant should not start here — the cost and setup overhead are built for mid-market and enterprise.
- **Government buyers, check the IRAP report scope.** Salesforce has an **IRAP assessment at PROTECTED level covering the Einstein Platform and Agentforce** (listed on Salesforce's compliance site, updated 27 June 2025) — but the detailed report is password-gated, so agencies should request it via their Salesforce account team and confirm their specific configuration is in scope.

## Australian fit

- **Available in Australia:** Yes — Salesforce sells, prices and supports the platform locally, with an Australian site, sales line and partner ecosystem.
- **Pricing in AUD:** **Partly.** CRM seats are shown in **native AUD** (Core AU$273, Max AU$770/user/mo). The Agentforce consumption meter (Flex Credits, per-conversation) is **USD-denominated**.
- **GST:** Business pricing is quoted ex-GST in the usual Australian B2B way; 10% GST applies on the tax invoice. Your account team can confirm the exact treatment on the order form.
- **Data residency:** **Yes, available.** Einstein/Agentforce instances run in **AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2)**; Hyperforce offers in-country storage for Australian orgs, and the Trust Layer supports AU data residency with LLM partners.
- **Local support:** Yes — Australian sales and a large local partner/implementation ecosystem; enterprise support tiers are paid add-ons.
- **AU government certification:** Salesforce holds an **IRAP assessment at PROTECTED level covering the Einstein Platform and Agentforce** (compliance site, updated 27 June 2025); the full report is password-gated via the Salesforce account team.
- **Training on your data:** Salesforce states the Einstein Trust Layer operates **zero data retention** with its LLM partners — your prompts aren't retained by the model.

## Alternatives

| Tool | Why you might prefer it |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Microsoft Copilot for Sales / Dynamics 365** | If you're already a Microsoft 365 and Dynamics shop, the AI lands in tools your team already opens, with Microsoft's own AU data-residency story. |
| **HubSpot AI** | A friendlier, lower-overhead CRM with built-in AI for small and mid-sized Australian businesses that find Salesforce too heavy. |
| **A standalone AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)** | If you don't actually need AI wired into a CRM and just want drafting and summarising, a general assistant is a fraction of the cost. |

## Bottom line

Salesforce Einstein is a strong piece of AI engineering attached to a platform decision. For an Australian business already running Salesforce — or seriously committing to it — Einstein is a sensible, well-governed way to put AI to work on the customer data you already hold. It also brings the rare comfort of **native AUD seat pricing** and the option to keep that data in **Sydney**. The Trust Layer's zero-retention design is a genuine reassurance.

It scores 18, not higher, for honest reasons. You can't buy Einstein on its own, so for anyone not already on Salesforce this is the wrong front door. The cost and setup overhead are built for mid-market and enterprise, not for the small business owner who just wants an AI helper. The headline Agentforce layer meters in **US dollars**, adding currency risk the seats avoid. The real bill — Data Cloud, the agent meter, implementation — dwarfs the per-seat figure. On the plus side for government buyers, Salesforce now holds an IRAP assessment at PROTECTED level covering the Einstein Platform and Agentforce.

So: an easy recommendation **if you're already on Salesforce**, and a firm "look elsewhere first" if you're not. We'll refresh this when the Agentforce pricing or the AU residency story moves — both are changing fast.

Update history
- **9 Oct 2026** — Re-confirmed for the AUD-claim queue (#413), salesforce.com/au/sales/pricing read in a browser on an Australian connection the day after this edition was written: Starter Suite AU$35, Pro Suite AU$140, Core AU$273, Advanced AU$553 and Max AU$770 per user a month, all native Australian dollars (markup `AU$` 28, `US$` 2 for the Agentforce meter). No figure changes. Capture: `Dossiers/captures/salesforce-einstein-pricing-2026-10-09.txt`.
- **8 Oct 2026** — New edition. Salesforce has renamed and repriced its Sales Cloud editions in Australia. **Was:** Enterprise AU$245, Unlimited AU$490, Agentforce 1 Sales AU$770 per user a month. **Now:** **Core AU$273** (+11.4%), **Advanced AU$553** (+12.9%), **Max AU$770** (new name, same price). Starter Suite AU$35 and Pro Suite AU$140 are unchanged. AI can now be added to "Core and above". The free-credits line now reads that Foundations includes a limited allowance of Flex Credits and Data 360 credits, and Max lists 2.75M Flex Credits per org a year. Score unchanged at 18/25: the rise lands on the mid-market tiers, and the entry seats this review steers smaller buyers towards hold. ## Frequently asked questions

### Is Salesforce Einstein available in Australia?

Yes. Salesforce sells, prices and supports the platform locally, with an Australian site, sales line and a large partner/implementation ecosystem. But you can't buy Einstein on its own — it's only sold with or on top of a Salesforce CRM licence.

### Does Salesforce Einstein charge in AUD?

Partly. The CRM seats bill in native AUD (Core AU$273/user/mo, Max AU$770/user/mo, checked 8 October 2026) — a genuine rarity. But the Agentforce agent layer is metered in US dollars (about US$0.10 per action, US$2 per conversation), so your AI usage carries currency risk the seats don't.

### Is there a free plan or free trial?

No standalone trial — Einstein isn't a tool you "try," it's a platform decision tied to a Salesforce org. Salesforce Foundations includes a limited allowance of Flex Credits and Data 360 credits, but that's a starting allowance, not a working budget.

### Does Salesforce Einstein store data in Australia?

Yes, it can. Einstein and Agentforce instances run in AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2), and Hyperforce gives Australian orgs in-country storage. The Einstein Trust Layer also operates zero data retention with its LLM partners and supports AU data residency.

### Who is Salesforce Einstein best for?

Australian businesses already running Salesforce, or seriously committing to it — that's the whole point. For a small business that isn't a Salesforce shop, the cost and setup overhead make this the wrong front door. A standalone assistant or HubSpot AI fits better.

*Secondary (context only): vendor and consultancy pricing explainers (Clientell, Jitendra Zaa, eesel) — used only to cross-check the Flex Credits/per-conversation maths, not relied on for any primary fact.*

*Note: the AU Sales Cloud seat figures were read from Salesforce's live AU pricing page on 8 October 2026, which shows AUD list prices directly. The Agentforce per-action and per-conversation figures come from the 15 May 2025 Salesforce press release and were not re-priced in this edition. Re-confirm both on your order form. IRAP PROTECTED coverage of the Einstein Platform and Agentforce was confirmed from the Salesforce compliance site (the full report is password-gated).*
