> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Twee is the most capable AI tool available for English-language teachers — specifically those teaching ESL, EFL, EAL/D, or any language class where CEFR proficiency levels are the reference frame. It generates worksheets, reading comprehension tasks, fill-in-the-gap exercises, dialogue scripts, discussion questions, and audio materials from a topic, a link, or a word list in seconds. The free trial is stingy (five runs), but Basic at USD $6.50/month and Pro at USD $10.50/month represent genuine value. The limitation is scope: if you teach English to native speakers in an Australian school and need ACARA-aligned materials, Twee is not the right tool. If you teach English to newcomers, international students, adult learners, or anyone learning English as an additional language, it is the best purpose-built AI option in the category.

## What Twee is

Twee AI LLC was founded in October 2023 by a small multinational team — members based in the US, Israel, Argentina, Slovenia, and elsewhere — many of them former English teachers. It launched as an AI platform for English language teaching and has grown to more than 500,000 teachers worldwide, with six million exercises generated in the past year.

The product is tightly focused. Twee does one thing: help language teachers make materials. It does not try to be a learning management system, a student AI tutor, or a general-purpose teaching assistant. It is a tool factory for language lesson preparation.

At its core, Twee offers more than 40 tools covering reading, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and writing. The standout is CEFR alignment — Twee knows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 through C2) and generates materials calibrated to a specified proficiency level. Paste a topic or a YouTube link, select a level, and Twee produces a reading text, comprehension questions, vocabulary exercises, gap-fills, discussion prompts, and more — all at the right difficulty.

Epping Secondary College in Victoria, Australia, is listed among Twee's institutional users on the company's website — evidence of real Australian classroom use.

## What it costs in Australia

Twee publishes USD pricing. GST treatment for Australian subscribers is not detailed on the pricing page (confirm at checkout).

| Plan | USD/month (annual) | AUD/month (approx) |
| ------------ | ------------------ | ------------------ |
| Trial (free) | $0 | $0 |
| Basic | $6.50/month | \~$9.10/month |
| Pro | $10.50/month | \~$14.70/month |
| Schools | Quote only | Quote only |

*AUD conversions at approximately USD 1 = AUD 1.40, September 2026\. GST status unconfirmed — verify at checkout.*

The free Trial tier gives five runs for any non-Pro tool — genuinely useful for testing, but you will hit the limit quickly. There is also free access to the ESL Lesson and Worksheet Library.

Basic at USD $6.50/month (annual) gives 100 runs per month across all standard tools plus 2,500 audio credits. For a teacher with light use, this covers most needs.

Pro at USD $10.50/month (annual) gives unlimited runs on standard tools, 100 runs/month on media tools (audio/video question creation, transcription), 5,000 audio credits, AI-based response checking, CEFR Level Checker, and PDF/Google Forms/Google Docs export. This is the recommended tier for any teacher who will use the platform regularly.

School plans are quoted and include multi-teacher access, classroom management, and priority support.

## How it works in practice

The workflow is impressively simple. You pick a tool from the left-hand menu — "Open Questions for a Text," "Fill in the Gap," "Discussion Questions," "Multiple Choice" — and provide input. That input can be a topic ("Australian immigration history"), a word list, a URL, or a YouTube link. You select the CEFR level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2), and Twee generates the material.

A typical use case: a teacher preparing a lesson on climate change for B2 students. They paste a news article URL, select B2, and Twee produces a reading comprehension text adapted to that level, five open questions, a vocabulary matching exercise for ten key terms, and a set of discussion questions — all in under two minutes.

Outputs can be shared as an interactive link (students complete the exercise online and get immediate feedback), exported to PDF, exported to Google Forms or Google Docs, or downloaded as a Word document. Pro users can add a school logo to PDFs.

The AI response-checking feature (Pro) automatically evaluates student written answers and provides feedback — saving marking time for open-ended tasks.

The Audio and Video Question Creator (Pro) lets teachers upload a video or audio file and generate comprehension questions from it — useful for listening skills practice.

## What it does well

**CEFR precision is the differentiator.** No other AI teaching tool in this category generates materials calibrated to specific CEFR proficiency levels with this accuracy and consistency. For any teacher working within a CEFR framework — ESL, EFL, EAL/D, IELTS/PTE preparation, adult migration English, university English for Academic Purposes — this is a significant practical advantage.

**Breadth of exercise types.** More than 40 tools covering all four language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and vocabulary and grammar. A teacher can build a complete lesson from the same topic input without leaving the platform.

**Interactive sharing.** Students can complete exercises in a browser without needing an account. The teacher shares a link; students respond; the platform records results. This is low-friction for both teacher and student.

**AI response checking saves marking time.** The Pro-tier automated feedback on written responses is not a replacement for teacher judgment, but it reduces the time spent on routine marking — particularly useful for gap-fills, short answers, and vocabulary tasks.

**Australian institutional use.** The presence of Epping Secondary College, Victoria, in the client list confirms this is already working in Australian classrooms.

**Price.** Pro at approximately AUD $15/month ex-GST is accessible for an individual teacher paying from their own pocket.

---

## What it doesn't do well

**Scope: English language only.** Twee is for language teachers. A Maths teacher, a Science teacher, a Humanities teacher — none of them will find this useful. Even within English, it is primarily for second-language or additional-language contexts. An Australian Year 10 English teacher preparing students for the HSC or VCE is unlikely to find CEFR-calibrated exercises the right fit.

**No ACARA curriculum alignment.** Twee has no knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, ACARA content descriptors, or Australian year-level conventions. It knows CEFR levels (A1–C2) and the ten supported languages. If your brief is "Year 9 English according to the Victorian Curriculum," Twee cannot help you in that specific way — you would need to use it as a generic content generator, not a curriculum-aligned tool.

**Data crosses borders.** Twee's privacy policy explicitly states that user data — including teacher inputs and student response data — is hosted on Amazon AWS and may be transferred across borders. Student data from Australian classrooms can end up processed and stored in the US. The privacy policy places the obligation on the teacher/institution to have obtained necessary parental consent before sharing student data. For Australian schools with students under 18, this is a compliance issue that requires attention before deployment.

**Minimum age is 13.** Twee's terms state the platform is for users over 13\. Student accounts can be created via teacher invitation. For primary schools or K-6 contexts, this is a hard limit. The platform does not provide COPPA-equivalent protections for under-13 students.

**Free trial is too limited for genuine evaluation.** Five runs is not enough to decide whether to subscribe. Compare this to Eduaide's free tier, which offers ongoing limited access. To properly evaluate Twee, you need to subscribe.

**No local Australian support.** The company is primarily US and Israel-based. Support is asynchronous via email/help centre. No phone support. Time zone gaps apply.

---

## Australian fit (student data privacy, ACARA/curriculum, child safety)

**Student data privacy:** Twee's privacy policy distinguishes between Teacher Users and Student Users. Student accounts are created via teacher invitation. Student data is hosted on Amazon AWS and may be transferred internationally. The policy states teachers are responsible for obtaining necessary parental consent before sharing student data with Twee. This is the correct legal approach, but it places a real compliance burden on Australian schools. Before deploying Twee with students, Australian educators should: (a) review Twee's privacy policy against their state Department of Education data requirements; (b) issue parental notification or consent forms; and (c) ensure Twee's data processing aligns with Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) obligations.

**Child safety:** Twee is designed for adult language teachers and adult learners, with a minimum age of 13 for student accounts. The platform does not include content moderation, crisis detection, or age-verification beyond the 13+ threshold. It is a lesson-material tool, not a student AI chat platform — so the child safety risks are different from SchoolAI or Character.AI. The main risk is student responses containing personal information. Teachers should avoid using student full names in assignments and set their privacy settings accordingly.

**ACARA/curriculum alignment:** Not present. Twee's framework is CEFR. In Australian schools, CEFR is highly relevant for EAL/D (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) instruction — ACARA includes an EAL/D learning progression that maps, loosely, to CEFR levels. For EAL/D teachers in particular, Twee can be productively used even without native ACARA integration.

**Australian availability:** Fully available globally. No geo-restrictions. Epping Secondary College, Victoria, is listed as a user.

**Data residency:** Amazon AWS, US-based, with cross-border transfer provisions (confirm precise AWS region with vendor).

**Supported languages:** Twee supports 10 languages for content generation, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, and Turkish. This covers many common language backgrounds in Australian EAL/D classrooms.

## Alternatives

[**Eduaide.ai**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-eduaide-australia-2026/) — Broader scope than Twee: covers all subjects, not just language. Better choice for non-language teachers. No CEFR alignment but stronger general lesson-planning capability.

[**MagicSchool AI**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/magicschool-ai-review-australia/) — Broader scope AI teaching assistant with specific ELL/ESL tools alongside general lesson planning. Less specialist than Twee for language teaching but more versatile across subjects.

[**Diffit**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-diffit-australia-2026/) — Focused on differentiating reading materials to different reading levels. No CEFR alignment, but strong for adapting texts — useful for EAL/D teachers who have a specific article or reading passage they want to modify.

---

## Bottom line

Twee is the best AI platform available for English-language teachers — particularly those teaching ESL, EFL, EAL/D, adult migration English, or exam preparation. The CEFR calibration is accurate, the exercise variety is broad, the interactive sharing removes friction, and the price is reasonable. For these specific use cases, it is hard to recommend anything else at this price point.

For Australian teachers outside that lane — including native-language English teachers aligned to ACARA, or teachers in subjects other than English — Twee is the wrong tool.

The data privacy picture requires attention before school-wide student deployment. Individual teachers can sign up and use Twee for their own preparation work with no privacy concerns. Involving student accounts requires parental consent steps and a review against your school or Department's data requirements.

**Best for:** Australian EAL/D teachers, ESL/EFL teachers, adult migration English instructors, language tutors, and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) practitioners. Excellent value at the Pro tier.

**Not recommended for:** Native-language English teaching aligned to ACARA, non-language subject teachers, primary school use with under-13 students, or schools expecting a curriculum-ready product without privacy due diligence.

*Australian Fit of 2/5 reflects no ACARA integration, offshore data storage with cross-border transfer provisions, and the 13+ minimum age limit. The CEFR/EAL/D relevance and confirmed Australian school use prevent a lower score.*

Update history
- **9 Oct 2026** — Re-checked for the AUD-claim queue (#471), twee.com/price read in a browser on an Australian connection (the `/pricing` URL now returns 404): Basic US$6.50 and Pro US$10.50 a month billed annually stand, with a bare `$` and no AUD, so the table holds and `aud_native: false` stands. The free tier is now described as 5 trial runs plus a 3-day Pro trial; monthly-billing rates were not re-read. Capture: `Dossiers/captures/twee-pricing-2026-10-09.txt`.
- **24 Sep 2026** — **The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table.** The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. The ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule — the column headed *“AUD if GST charged (+10%)”*: Trial (free) **$0**; Basic **\~$10.01/month**; Pro **\~$16.17/month**. `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.
