*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Rows was a genuinely clever AI spreadsheet — natural-language formulas, built-in data enrichment, a clean web interface. None of that matters now. On 22 February 2026 Rows announced it had been acquired by Superhuman, and that the product would "fully wind down on 31 May 2026." That date has passed. Recommending a tool that has already switched off the lights would be editorial malpractice. If you're an Australian shopping for an AI data-analysis tool, treat this review as a redirection notice, not a buying guide.

## What Rows is

Rows was a cloud-based spreadsheet built around AI and live data connections. Think of it as Google Sheets with two extra tricks. First, it pulled live data straight from tools like Stripe, Google Analytics, HubSpot and LinkedIn into a sheet, no copy-paste. Second, it layered an AI assistant — "Rows AI" — over the top, so you could type "forecast next quarter's revenue from this column" or "clean these messy postcodes" in plain English and get a result.

It was made by a team based in Porto, Portugal (with Berlin roots), and it had a real following among marketers and operators who wanted something lighter and smarter than Excel.

The catch: on 22 February 2026, Rows announced it had agreed to be acquired by Superhuman — the company that now owns Grammarly and Superhuman Docs, the workspace formerly called Coda. In the same announcement, the founders wrote that they would "gradually sunset the Rows product over the next three months, with Rows.com fully winding down on 31 May 2026." That date is now in the past. Rows' data and AI capabilities are being folded into Superhuman Docs (the former Coda). The standalone product you'd be signing up for is, by its own makers' word, gone.

That single fact governs everything below.

## What it costs in Australia

There is no Australian billing, no GST-inclusive pricing, and — more to the point — no product to bill for. The plans below are what Rows *listed* before the wind-down, kept here only so you can recognise what's being switched off. All prices are USD; Rows never published AUD pricing.

| Plan | List price (USD) | Approx AUD (ex-GST)\* | Status |
| ---------- | ---------------------------- | ----------------------------- | ------------ |
| Free | US$0 | A$0 | Winding down |
| Plus | US$8/user/mo | \~A$11/user/mo | Winding down |
| Pro | US$79/mo base + US$8/user/mo | \~A$111/mo base + \~A$11/user | Winding down |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Winding down |

\*Conversion at US$1 ≈ A$1.40 shown ex-GST (a GST-registered business quoting its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add \~10%). Indicative only — there was no AUD billing and no Australian GST invoicing.

Source: Rows pricing page (still live as a cached residue at the time of checking, 20 June 2026) and the founders' wind-down announcement. The pricing page still shows plans because the marketing site hasn't been fully retired; that is not the same as the product being open for new business.

## How it works in practice

When it worked, it worked nicely. You'd open a blank sheet, connect a data source, and the live rows would populate. The AI sat in a side panel: you described what you wanted, it wrote the formula or built the column. Rows AI ran on a mix of OpenAI GPT models, Llama, and other LLMs, swapped to newer versions over time (vendor-stated). For data privacy, Rows said it sent only "the minimum necessary information" to the AI — table headers, up to five sample rows, and basic statistics — and stated plainly that "your data is not used to train AI models."

For a non-technical Melbourne operator, the appeal was obvious: pull your Stripe revenue and your Google Analytics traffic into one sheet, then ask in English why one month dipped. No VLOOKUP gymnastics.

But "how it works in practice" in June 2026 is the only practice that matters: you sign up, you build your workflow, and then the service you've built it on disappears on a published timeline. That's not a workflow. That's a trap.

## What it does well

Crediting the product on its merits, before the asterisk:

- **Natural-language data work.** Typing "segment these customers by spend and tag the top 10%" and getting a usable column was genuinely faster than writing the formula yourself.
- **Live integrations.** Roughly 50+ connectors — Stripe, HubSpot, GA, LinkedIn, OpenAI — meant data refreshed itself instead of going stale in a static export.
- **PDF and screenshot-to-table.** It could turn an invoice or a screenshot into an editable table, which saved real re-keying time.
- **A sensible privacy posture.** Minimal data sent to the AI, and an explicit no-training pledge — better than several rivals bother to state.

## What it doesn't do well

This is the section that decides it.

- **It's being switched off.** The single biggest failing: the makers announced a full wind-down on 31 May 2026\. Adopting it now means building on a platform with a published expiry date that has already passed. Nothing else on this list outweighs that.
- **No Australian anything.** No AUD billing, no GST invoicing, and no Australian data residency. Rows' own privacy policy puts its servers in the EU/EEA on Google Cloud Platform, with AI processing routed to US-based providers — there was never an Australian hosting option.
- **Migration uncertainty.** The founders say they will "focus on strengthening Coda's capabilities for data-driven teams," but Coda is a different product with different pricing and a different shape. The announcement promises no automatic port of your Rows sheets, so plan for rebuild work rather than a one-click migration.
- **Support is winding down too.** The founders pointed users to support@rows.com "during the transition." A closing product is not where you want your business data when something breaks.
- **AI accuracy needed checking.** Like every LLM-driven tool, its forecasts and classifications were a starting point, not gospel — fine when the vendor's around to patch issues, riskier when it isn't.

## Australian fit

Weak, and now moot. Rows was a European-built, USD-billed, globally-pitched tool with no Australian-specific features at any point — no AUD pricing, no GST handling, no stated AU data residency. An Australian small business would have been paying in US dollars, invoicing without local GST treatment, and storing data offshore — Rows' privacy policy locates its servers in the EU/EEA, with AI processing handled by US-based providers.

Even setting the shutdown aside, that's a 2-out-of-5 Australian fit. With the shutdown, the question is academic: there is nothing here for an Australian to adopt.

## Alternatives

Since Rows is closing, the practical move is to look elsewhere for AI-assisted data analysis. Three options that are actually open for business:

- [**ChatGPT**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/chatgpt-review-australia/) — its data-analysis mode handles uploaded CSVs and spreadsheets, writes and runs the analysis, and explains the result in plain English. AUD billing via the app stores. Our pick for an everyday operator who wants answers from a file fast.
- [**Claude**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/claude-ai-review-australia/) — strong at reasoning over messy data and writing the analysis up clearly. Good when you want the *why*, not just the chart.
- [**Microsoft Copilot**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/microsoft-copilot-review-australia/) — if your data already lives in Excel, Copilot brings the AI to the spreadsheet you're already paying for, inside the Microsoft 365 stack many Australian businesses run.

## Bottom line

Rows was a good product. We're not pretending otherwise. But "was" is the operative word. Its own makers have published the date the lights go out, and that date — 31 May 2026 — is behind us. No Australian business should build a reporting workflow, a customer segmentation, or a single live dashboard on a tool that has announced its own end.

If you're a current Rows user, watch for Superhuman's migration guidance into Superhuman Docs — the product the announcement called Coda — and start planning your exit now. If you're shopping fresh, skip Rows entirely and start with ChatGPT or Claude for file-based analysis, or Copilot if you're already in Excel. We score Rows 5/25 not because it was a bad tool — it wasn't — but because a tool that has already shut down is, for anyone buying today, no choice at all.

| --------------------- | -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Update history
- **21 Sep 2026** — **No first-party Rows app on the Australian App Store.** Nothing published under rows.com. The "app store" this review names is Rows' own integration gallery, not Apple's. USD pricing stands unqualified. Searched Apple's own Australian storefront endpoint (`itunes.apple.com/search?country=au&entity=software`) and matched each result on its declared **`sellerUrl`** rather than its publisher name — the method that resolved Msty (CloudStack, LLC → msty.ai) and Bluedot (Twiso Inc. → bluedothq.com) the same day, both of which the 21 September pass had recorded as untraceable. Checked 21 September 2026 by the app-store apply pass, `Audits/app-store-apply-2026-09-21.md`. Re-check if the vendor announces a mobile app.
- **20 Jun 2026** — First reviewed.
- **24 Sep 2026** — **The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was.** The header read *“gross-up; GST unconfirmed”* and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045\. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, **141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10**. **No figure changed here; only the description of them did.** Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: *gross-up* names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and *GST unconfirmed* is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. **No USD price moved and no score changed.** `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Rows still available?

No. On 22 February 2026 Rows announced it had been acquired by Superhuman, and that the product would "fully wind down on 31 May 2026." That date has passed. The marketing site still shows cached pricing, but the product is no longer open for new business.

### Was Rows available in Australia?

It was a European-built, globally-pitched tool with no Australian-specific features at any point — no AUD billing, no GST invoicing, and servers in the EU/EEA on Google Cloud with US-based AI processing. There was never an Australian hosting option.

### What should Australians use instead?

For AI-assisted data analysis that's actually open for business: ChatGPT's data-analysis mode for fast answers from a file, Claude when you want the reasoning behind the numbers, or Microsoft Copilot if your data already lives in Excel.

### What should current Rows users do?

Start planning your exit now. Rows' data and AI capabilities are folding into Superhuman Docs (the former Coda), but the founders promised no automatic port of your sheets — so expect rebuild work, not a one-click migration. Watch for Superhuman's migration guidance.
