- Description: Publer is the most affordable serious social media scheduler in the market — and one of the few that includes AI caption writing and image generation at entry-level pricing. For Australian small businesses watching their software spend, it's the strongest value contender in this category.

*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

> ✅ **PRICING NOW VENDOR-VERIFIED, ON ONE PATH — 21 September 2026.** Publer's own pricing page still renders its figures in JavaScript and exposes none to a fetch, so the USD web figures below remain third-party readings and stay labelled as such. But Publer sells the same plans as in-app purchases on the **Australian App Store**, and that listing is a primary vendor source: it declares `"priceCurrency":"AUD"`, names Kalemi LLC as seller, and prices **Professional from A$9.99/month and Business from A$17.99/month**, GST included. Those are verified Australian-dollar prices published by the vendor. See our [Verification Standard](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/).

> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Publer is a bootstrapped Albanian SaaS that punches well above its price point. For around AUD $17–34/month (ex-GST), you get scheduling across 13+ platforms, AI caption writing powered by GPT-5.5, DALL-E 3 image generation, bulk scheduling, evergreen queues, approval workflows, and analytics. It's not Hootsuite — the analytics are lighter and there's no review management — but for Australian small businesses and freelancers managing multiple social accounts on a budget, Publer is the strongest value in the category. Data is stored in Germany, not Australia, which is worth noting.

## What Publer is

Publer is a social media scheduling and management platform founded in 2012 in Tirana, Albania, by Ervin Kalemi and Eldian Dervishi. The company operates as Kalemi Code and is incorporated in Wyoming, United States. It has grown to over 13,000 paying customers and approximately USD $2.4M in annual revenue as of 2024, entirely bootstrapped with no venture funding.

The product covers scheduling and publishing, AI-assisted content creation (captions and images), post recycling, bulk scheduling, team workflows with approvals, analytics, and a link-in-bio builder. It supports 13 networks: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X/Twitter, YouTube, Google Business Profile, WordPress, Telegram, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon.

Publer's defining characteristic is price. It is substantially cheaper than Hootsuite, Sprout Social, and Vista Social at comparable feature levels. The trade-off is a less polished enterprise experience — there's no review management, the listening tools are limited, and support is community-plus-email rather than dedicated account management.

## What it costs in Australia

**There is an AUD price, and Publer publishes it — just not on its website.**

Buy inside the iPhone or Android app and you pay Apple or Google in Australian dollars with GST already included. Read from the [Australian App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/id1571680865?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) on 21 September 2026, which declares `"priceCurrency":"AUD"` and names Kalemi LLC as the seller:

| Plan (in-app) | Price | GST |
| ---------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Professional** | **A$9.99** (1 account) · **A$14.99** (2) · **A$19.99** (3) · **A$34.99** (5) · A$39.99 (5 + 2 members) · A$59.99 (10) | **Included** — Apple is merchant of record in Australia |
| **Business** | **A$17.99** (1 account) · **A$59.99** (5) | Included |

That is the only Publer price list we have been able to read from the vendor itself, and it is the reason the Value for Money mark survived this September's rubric sweep. Two caveats before you use it: the app is a publishing companion rather than the full product (see the limitations section), and the in-app ladder is priced per account count, which does not map one-to-one onto the web plans.

**On the web, Publer bills in USD** and there is no AUD option. Conversions below at approximately USD 1 = AUD 1.40 (September 2026). Australian GST of 10% is additional on that path as an offshore digital service — confirm GST treatment with your accountant.

Publer uses a modular pricing model: you start with a base plan (number of accounts and team members included), then add accounts or members at per-unit rates. Every 10th additional social account is free.

| Plan | USD/month (billed monthly, 3 accounts) | AUD approx/month (ex-GST) |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| Free | $0 (3 accounts, 1 user) | — |
| Professional | \~$12 (billed annually, 3 accounts) | \~$17 |
| Business | \~$21 (billed annually, 3 accounts) | \~$29 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |

Note: Monthly billing is higher — sources indicate approximately $5/month per account on Professional and $10/month per account on Business for monthly billing. Annual billing provides approximately 2 months free (roughly 17% savings) (confirm exact monthly billing rates at publer.io/pricing — secondary sources vary on exact per-month figures).

The **Free plan** includes 3 social accounts, 1 user, and basic scheduling. It is a genuine working free tier, not a demo.

The **Professional plan** is the core offering. On the Business plan, AI Assist credits are included — no separate OpenAI API key required. On Professional, you connect your own OpenAI API key and pay for token usage separately (confirm current AI Assist tier eligibility at publer.io — sources noted this was the structure as of late 2025).

There is a 7-day free trial on Professional and a 14-day free trial on Business.

## How it works in practice

**Content composer:** The composer is clean and functional. You write once and can customise per-platform — different captions for LinkedIn versus TikTok versus Facebook from the same draft. The visual calendar gives you a week/month view of what's scheduled.

**AI Assist:** Publer's AI Assist sits inside the composer. Click it, enter a prompt (or let it use your existing draft), and it generates caption variations, adds hashtags, rewrites in a different tone, or generates an accompanying image via DALL-E 3\. The Brand Voices feature (added September 2025 update) lets you define a custom tone, style, and vocabulary per workspace — useful for agencies managing multiple clients with different brand voices.

The AI does not natively understand Australian English. Outputs default to standard (predominantly American) English. Australian users will want to specify "Australian English spelling" in their Brand Voice setup and review all AI outputs for localisation.

**AI analytics integration:** The AI Assist also pulls from the past 30 days of your account analytics to suggest content directions based on what's performed well. This is a differentiating feature — most AI caption tools generate without context; Publer's generates informed by your own historical engagement data.

**Bulk scheduling:** Upload a CSV with up to 500 posts at once. This is useful for agencies scheduling content in batches.

**Post recycling / evergreen queues:** Create a pool of posts and tell Publer to recycle them on a schedule. For "evergreen" content (tips, quotes, product descriptions), this keeps accounts active without constant manual effort.

**RSS auto-publishing:** Connect an RSS feed and Publer will automatically publish new items — useful for blogs and news sites repurposing content.

**Approval workflows:** On Business and above, team members can draft posts and submit them for review before publishing. An essential feature for agencies where clients approve content.

**Analytics:** Basic engagement metrics — likes, comments, shares, reach — per post and per account. Not deep. Sufficient for small teams tracking broad performance.

---

## What it does well

**Price-to-feature ratio is exceptional.** There is no other tool in this review set — or arguably the wider market — that includes AI caption writing, bulk scheduling, post recycling, approval workflows, and 13-platform support for AUD $21–36/month including GST. Full stop.

**AI Assist is genuinely useful.** GPT-5.5-powered caption writing inside the scheduler means you don't need a separate AI tool. For a small business without a marketing team, this is a meaningful time-saver.

**Brand Voices for agencies.** The ability to define separate AI personas per client workspace is a well-thought-out feature that larger agency platforms charge significantly more to provide.

**13-platform coverage.** Including Google Business Profile, WordPress, Telegram, Bluesky, and Mastodon — not just the obvious channels. This is unusually broad for the price.

**Free plan is real.** Three accounts, one user, basic scheduling — this is a working free tier that small operators can use indefinitely for simple use cases.

**Bootstrapped, profitable business.** No VC pressure, no growth-at-all-costs instability. Publer has been building incrementally since 2012\. Lower acquisition/shutdown risk than funded competitors.

---

## What it doesn't do well

**Analytics are thin.** Publer gives you post-level engagement data and basic account growth metrics. It doesn't have Hootsuite's custom reporting, Sprout Social's competitive benchmarking, or even Vista Social's report scheduling. If you're reporting to clients, you'll need to export data and build reports manually.

**No review management.** You cannot respond to Google Business or Facebook reviews from Publer. For hospitality, retail, or service businesses where online review response is central, this is a meaningful gap.

**No social listening.** Publer doesn't monitor mentions, keywords, or competitor activity. If you need to know when someone is talking about your brand or industry on social media, you need a separate tool.

**Support is community-first.** Publer's primary support channel is a community forum plus email. There's no live chat during Australian business hours. Response times can be slow for complex issues.

**AI Assist OpenAI API key requirement on Professional plan** (confirm current status). If this remains the case, small businesses on the cheapest paid plan need to set up and manage a separate OpenAI account. It's not difficult, but it's friction.

**No dedicated mobile app features.** The mobile app covers basic publishing but the full management experience requires a browser.

---

## Australian fit

**Timezone support:** Publer supports AEST and AEDT. You set your timezone at the account level and all scheduled posts respect it. No Australian-default exists, but once configured, it works correctly and reliably.

**Automated posting and the Spam Act 2003:** Publer's automation features — RSS auto-publishing, evergreen post recycling — are low-risk under the Spam Act because they publish to your public social channels rather than sending commercial messages to individuals. However, if you use Publer to post commercial content on X/Twitter that triggers auto-DM responses (via a separate connected tool like Hypefury or Tweet Hunter), be aware that those DMs carry Spam Act risk regardless of where the original post was scheduled from.

Publer does not have its own auto-DM feature — this is a lower-risk profile compared to Hypefury and Tweet Hunter.

**AI-generated content and the ACL:** Any AI-generated captions used in advertising or product promotion must comply with the *Australian Consumer Law* (ACL). AI Assist generates copy based on your prompts — it is your responsibility to ensure that any claims made in AI-generated content are accurate. Review all AI outputs before publishing commercial content.

**Data residency:** Publer's servers are located in Frankfurt, Germany, operated by Kalemi Code. If you access the service from outside Germany, your data is transferred to and processed in Germany. Germany's data protection is governed by the GDPR, which is one of the world's strongest data protection frameworks. This is materially better than US-hosted services for Australian users, as the GDPR imposes strict controls on how data is handled. However, there is no Australian data centre option and no specific compliance with Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

**Support:** Email support plus community forum. No phone. No AU business hours support.

## Alternatives

- **Hootsuite** (reviewed at [/review-hootsuite-australia-2026](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-hootsuite-australia-2026/)) — enterprise-grade analytics and integrations; four to eight times the price; better for large teams and agencies.
- **Buffer** (reviewed at [/review-buffer-australia-2026](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-buffer-australia-2026/)) — comparable simplicity; less AI capability; clean interface; similar price point.
- **Vista Social** (reviewed at [/review-vista-social-australia-2026](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-vista-social-australia-2026/)) — adds review management and social listening; significantly more expensive at the Professional tier.

---

## Bottom line

Publer is the best-value social media scheduling tool for Australian small businesses in this category. The combination of 13-platform support, AI caption writing, bulk scheduling, post recycling, approval workflows, and analytics for under AUD $29/month including GST is not matched by any competitor.

It is not a full enterprise social media management suite. If you need review management, deep analytics, or social listening, you'll need to either pair Publer with specialist tools or upgrade to Vista Social or Hootsuite.

But for a Melbourne tradie, a Sydney marketing consultant, a small e-commerce brand, or a PR freelancer managing 10 client social accounts — Publer is the most sensible starting point. Start on the free plan. Test it. Upgrade to Business when you need the included AI credits and team workflows.

**Recommended for:** Australian small businesses, freelancers, and small agencies managing multiple social accounts on a budget. The Business plan at \~AUD $29/month including GST is the right tier for most users who want AI Assist without managing their own API key.

Update history
- **21 Sep 2026** — **Value for Money HELD at 5/5, and the reason it was held has now been resolved in Publer's favour. No score change.** This morning's value-rubric sweep (`Audits/value-rubric-sweep-2026-09-21.md` §3.8) could not adjudicate Publer's 5/5 because `publer.com/pricing` renders client-side and returned no price to a fetch or a WebFetch. It recorded an expected outcome of 5/5 → 4/5 on the Buffer precedent — a perfect Value for Money mark resting on a price nobody could confirm, in a currency that was not ours. **Both halves of that are now answered from a vendor primary source, and the answer goes the other way.** The **Australian App Store listing declares `"priceCurrency":"AUD"`**, names **Kalemi LLC** — Publer's own company — as the seller, and publishes the plan ladder in Australian dollars, GST included on an Apple tax invoice: **Professional A$9.99 (1 account), A$14.99 (2), A$19.99 (3), A$34.99 (5), A$39.99 (5 + 2 members); Business A$17.99 (1), A$59.99 (5).** Buffer lost its fifth point solely because AUD failed; Publer's AUD box passes, so 5/5 holds rather than falls. **This review's flat claim that "Publer bills in USD. There is no AUD pricing" was wrong**, and is corrected throughout. Australian Fit holds at 3/5 — the app is, in this review's own words, a basic publishing companion and the real work happens in a browser, so the AUD path is not the path most readers will take, and EU-not-AU data residency is untouched. Found by the app-store pricing pass, `Audits/app-store-pricing-2026-09-21.md`. [Source](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/id1571680865?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) · Wayback: capture pending (archive.org unavailable 21 Sep 2026).
- **21 Sep 2026** — **Correction: the model behind AI Assist was wrong.** This review said AI Assist is "powered by GPT-4". Publer's own help centre says **GPT-5.5**, on an article last updated 28 April 2026 ([What is the Publer AI Assist?](https://publer.com/help/en/article/what-is-the-publer-ai-assist-1n883h3/?ref=theaidirectory.com.au)) — so the claim had been two model generations stale since before this review was written. Corrected in the verdict, the feature section, the meta description and the FAQ. No score change: AI caption quality was judged on output, not on the model badge, and a newer model does not move Value for Money or Australian Fit. Found by the corpus-wide model-claims sweep, `Audits/model-claims-sweep-2026-09-21.md`. Wayback: capture pending (archive.org unavailable 21 Sep 2026).
- **24 Sep 2026** — **The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table.** The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. The ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule — the column headed *“AUD approx/month (if GST charged, +10%)”*: Professional **\~$19**; Business **\~$32**. `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.
- **24 Sep 2026** — **1 Australian figure in the prose corrected to agree with this review's own pricing table.** The table was verified cell by cell earlier today; it still quoted the retired 1.55 basis, in 2 places — verdict lines, score rationales, the excerpt and the JSON-LD are where a reader actually meets a price, and a pairing check cannot see them because they name no USD figure alongside. Kept visible per our price-history rule: **AUD $36 → AUD $29**. The replacement values are taken from the table, not recomputed, so the two now agree exactly. **No USD price moved and no score changed.** `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does Publer cost in Australian dollars?

It depends where you subscribe. On the web, Publer bills in USD: Professional starts at approximately USD $12/month (billed annually for 3 accounts), around AUD $17/month ex-GST, and Business at approximately USD $21/month annually, around AUD $29/month ex-GST. Inside the iPhone or Android app, Publer publishes real Australian prices — Professional from A$9.99/month and Business from A$17.99/month on the Australian App Store, GST included on an Apple tax invoice. A free plan with 3 social accounts is available either way. The in-app plans are priced by account count and the app covers publishing rather than the full management experience, so check what you are buying before you switch paths.

### Does Publer's AI Assist work with Australian English?

Publer's AI Assist is powered by GPT-5.5 and defaults to standard (predominantly American) English. Australian users should configure their Brand Voice settings to specify Australian English spelling and review all AI-generated captions before publishing to correct any US spelling or phrasing.

### Where does Publer store Australian user data?

Publer's servers are located in Frankfurt, Germany, operated by Kalemi Code. Your data is stored under GDPR protections. There is no Australian data centre option. Australian businesses should review obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) before using Publer to manage personal information of Australian customers.
