*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

But it is a launcher, not a website builder. There's no shopping cart, no real ecommerce, and a hard ceiling on pages. Use it to validate an idea this week, not to run a business on for the next three years.

## What Mixo is

Mixo is an AI website builder aimed at small businesses and people testing a new idea. You type a sentence describing your business. It generates a complete landing page — headline, copy, images, an email signup form, and hosting — in seconds. Mixo's own site claims you can "launch a lead-generating website in 60 seconds." The company says it has been used to create over three million websites since launching in 2022.

Here's the detail most reviews bury, and it matters for Australians: Mixo was founded by Adam Arbolino and is based in **Sydney** ([Crunchbase](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/mixo-9545?ref=theaidirectory.com.au), secondary source). That makes it one of the very few AI website builders in this category that is actually Australian. More on what that does — and doesn't — mean below.

The thing to understand up front: Mixo is built for speed and simplicity, not depth. It is closer to a smart landing-page generator than to Wix or Squarespace.

## What it costs in Australia

Mixo prices in **US dollars** and bills through standard online checkout. There is no AUD billing and no Australian-dollar pricing tier.

There is a genuine free plan: one page on a Mixo subdomain (yoursite.mixo.io), AI content, hosting and SSL, with Mixo branding shown on the site. No credit card needed. The paid tiers remove branding and add custom domains, more pages and analytics. ([mixo.io free-plan help page](https://www.mixo.io/help/does-mixo-have-a-free-plan/?ref=theaidirectory.com.au), primary.)

The exact paid pricing is where sources disagree, so treat the table below with care. Mixo's own homepage schema currently shows paid pricing topping out at around **US$6/mo**, while several third-party directories still list older "Basic / Growth / Premium" tiers at US$9 / US$19 / US$39\. Mixo's help centre names the paid tiers "Business and Premium." That inconsistency suggests Mixo has recently restructured and repriced — so confirm the live figure at checkout before you commit.

| Plan | Price (USD) | Approx AUD (ex-GST) | What you get |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------- | ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Free | US$0 | A$0 | 1 page, Mixo subdomain, hosting, SSL, Mixo branding |
| Paid (entry, homepage schema) | \~US$6/mo | \~A$8/mo | Custom domain, branding removed, more pages, analytics |
| Legacy tiers (Basic/Growth/Premium, third-party listings) | US$9 / US$19 / US$39/mo | \~A$13 / A$27 / A$55/mo | 1 / 5 / 50 pages respectively |

The entry figure comes from Mixo's own homepage schema; the higher Basic/Growth/Premium tiers come from third-party directories and appear to be older, pre-restructure listings. I could not load Mixo's live pricing page to settle which is current — it renders behind JavaScript at checkout — so treat both rows as indicative and confirm the figure at checkout before you commit. AUD figures are my conversion at \~1.40, shown ex-GST. **GST treatment:** there's no confirmed Australian billing entity, so I can't say whether GST is itemised on your invoice — keep the receipt for your BAS and check the tax line. *Sources:* [*mixo.io help*](https://www.mixo.io/help/does-mixo-have-a-free-plan/?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) *(primary);* [*SaaSworthy*](https://www.saasworthy.com/product/mixo-io/pricing?ref=theaidirectory.com.au)*,* [*G2*](https://www.g2.com/products/mixo-io/pricing?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) *(secondary, possibly stale).*

## How it works in practice

The workflow is genuinely a minute or two. You enter a business description — say, "mobile dog grooming in Hobart." Mixo's AI reads that and produces a single landing page: a hero headline, a few sections of body copy, stock or AI imagery, and an email capture form. From there you edit text inline, swap images, connect a custom domain, and publish. No HTML. No template browsing. No drag-and-drop maze.

Email signups land in a dashboard you can export to any marketing tool. Mixo also lists built-in SEO settings, 40+ language support, and standard third-party integrations for payments, email and analytics ([mixo.io homepage](https://www.mixo.io/?ref=theaidirectory.com.au), primary).

The catch is what happens after that first page. Adding more pages is gated by plan, and the editing tools stay deliberately shallow. You will not be hand-tuning layouts the way you would in Webflow. For a one-page lead-gen site, that simplicity is the point. For anything bigger, it becomes a wall.

## What it does well

- **Speed that is actually true.** The 60-second claim is close to real. From idea to a live, shareable URL in a couple of minutes is faster than any traditional builder, and faster than most AI rivals.
- **Zero technical skill required.** A 55-year-old tradie who has never built a website can publish one. That is rare and valuable.
- **A real free plan.** You can publish a live page for nothing — most rivals cripple their free tier or hide it behind a card. Good for testing whether an idea gets any clicks before you spend a cent.
- **Built-in lead capture.** Email signups are stored and exportable from day one, which is exactly what an idea-validation page needs.
- **Australian-founded.** A Sydney base means the team works in your timezone and understands the local market — a quiet plus when so many tools in this category are US-only.

## What it doesn't do well

- **It is a launcher, not a website.** No shopping cart, no product catalogue, no payment processing, not even a simple "Buy Now" button wired to Stripe out of the box. If you want to sell directly, this is the wrong tool.
- **Hard page ceilings.** Free is one page; paid plans cap how many pages you can publish. A growing business outgrows Mixo, and migrating off it means rebuilding elsewhere.
- **Shallow editing.** You cannot deeply control layout or design. What the AI gives you is roughly what you ship. Fussy brands will feel boxed in.
- **No AUD billing and unclear data residency.** Despite the Sydney base, pricing is in USD and Mixo does not state where it hosts published sites. Its public pages mention GDPR compliance but say nothing about Australian data residency or the Privacy Act, so I can't confirm where your site and its signup data physically sit — ask the vendor if it matters to you.
- **Confusing, shifting pricing.** When the vendor's own pages, help centre and third-party listings disagree on plan names and prices, that is a mark against — you can't be sure what you'll pay until checkout.

## Australian fit

This is the interesting part. Mixo is Australian-founded and Sydney-based, which is genuinely uncommon in this category and worth knowing. But "founded in Australia" is not the same as "built for Australian customers." There is no AUD billing, no confirmed Australian data residency, and no Australian-specific compliance language beyond a general GDPR mention. For a simple lead-capture page that doesn't store sensitive customer data, none of that is a dealbreaker. For anyone in finance, legal or health collecting client details, the lack of clear data-residency confirmation is a reason to ask the vendor directly before you publish. The local-founder story is a nice-to-have, not a compliance shortcut.

## Alternatives

- [**Durable**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-durable-australia-2026/) — another speed-first AI site builder that leans further into small-business tools (invoicing, CRM). Worth comparing if you want a launcher that grows slightly with you.
- [**Wix**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-wix-australia-2026/) — much deeper. Real ecommerce, blogs, proper design control, AUD billing. Slower to start, but you won't outgrow it in six months.
- [**Hostinger AI Builder**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-hostinger-horizons-australia-2026/) — cheap, fast, and includes hosting. Sold as Hostinger Horizons until 18 August 2026, when Hostinger merged it into AI Builder, where it is the agentic mode. Still a value pick for one page plus room to grow, but the plan ladder our review scores no longer exists.

## Bottom line

Mixo does one job superbly: it gets a clean, hosted landing page live in about a minute, with no skills and no friction. If you are validating an idea this week — testing demand, collecting emails, seeing if anyone cares — it is one of the best tools going, and the free plan means you risk nothing to find out. The Australian-founder angle is a pleasant bonus.

But do not mistake it for a long-term home for your business. The moment you need to sell something, run a blog, or grow past a handful of pages, Mixo runs out of road and you'll be rebuilding elsewhere. Buy it for what it is — a fast, cheap idea-launcher — and it earns its four stars. Expect a full website and you'll be disappointed.

Update history
- **20 Sep 2026** — Alternatives updated: **Hostinger Horizons is no longer sold under that name.** Hostinger merged it into **Hostinger AI Builder** on 18 August 2026 and `/horizons` now redirects to `/ai-builder`. The recommendation stands; the product name and plan structure do not. No score change. [Source](https://www.hostinger.com/au/ai-builder?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) · Wayback: capture pending (archive.org unavailable 20 Sep 2026).
- **20 Jun 2026** — First reviewed.
- **24 Sep 2026** — **The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was.** The header read *“gross-up; GST unconfirmed”* and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045\. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, **141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10**. **No figure changed here; only the description of them did.** Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: *gross-up* names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and *GST unconfirmed* is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. **No USD price moved and no score changed.** `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Mixo available in Australia?

Yes — and unusually, it's Australian-founded. Mixo was founded by Adam Arbolino and is based in Sydney. Being local doesn't change much in practice, but the team works in your timezone and understands the market.

### Does Mixo charge in AUD?

No. Mixo prices in US dollars and bills through standard online checkout. There's no AUD billing and no Australian-dollar pricing tier.

### Is there a free plan?

Yes, a genuine one: one page on a Mixo subdomain with AI content, hosting and SSL, with Mixo branding shown. No credit card needed. Good for testing whether an idea gets clicks before you spend a cent.

### Is my site's data stored in Australia?

Unconfirmed. Despite the Sydney base, Mixo doesn't state where it hosts published sites and mentions only GDPR, not the Privacy Act. If you collect sensitive client details, ask the vendor directly before you publish.

### Is Mixo a full website builder?

No — it's a launcher, not a website. No shopping cart, no ecommerce, no Buy Now button, and hard page ceilings. Use it to validate an idea this week, not to run a business on long-term.
