**The gate:** Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

> **Verdict (TL;DR).** MakeUGC turns a script into a passable AI "creator" ad fast. The avatars are convincing in short bursts. But entry list prices have nearly doubled since May, pricing is USD-only, your data sits in the UK, and there is nothing built for Australians. Lip-sync drifts on longer scripts. Credits expire monthly. Good for high-volume e-commerce ad testing. Skip it if you need polish or local support.

MakeUGC is a London-based tool that generates "user-generated content" style video ads. You write a script, pick an AI avatar, and it produces a short clip of a synthetic person talking to camera. It also does lip-sync, dubbing into other languages, b-roll, and "product in hand" shots. The pitch is simple. Replace the freelance creator. Spin up ad variations in minutes.

For an Australian small business chasing cheap social ads, that pitch lands. The question is whether the tool delivers, and whether it treats Australians as anything other than an afterthought. On the second point, the answer is no.

> **Earlier editions of this review:** [30 Jun 2026 — 13/25](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-makeugc-australia-2026-06/). This is edition 2, dated 8 Oct 2026\. We keep every edition so you can see how the tool and our verdict have moved — [how and why](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-timeline/).

## What MakeUGC actually does

The core product is a talking-avatar generator. You choose from a library of AI "creators," type or paste a script, and the platform renders a vertical clip suited to TikTok, Reels and Shorts. The vendor's pricing page lists "1000+ realistic AI creators" and "50+ languages" on its current tiers, with a "500+ creators" figure on the plan tier we were able to archive (more on that below). Treat those counts as vendor marketing, not independent fact.

Beyond the talking head, the feature set is broad:

- **Lip-sync and dubbing** into 50-plus languages, useful if you sell across borders.
- **Product-in-hand videos**, where the avatar appears to hold and show your product. This is gated to the Pro tier and above, per the vendor's pricing FAQ.
- **B-roll generation** and an image generator, drawing on third-party models the vendor names on its pricing page (Veo, Kling, Sora, Seedance and others). Sora is no longer available through it: OpenAI shut its API down on 24 September 2026.
- **Batch Mode**, which queues multiple creators at once for bulk ad testing.
- **Custom AI avatars**, again Pro-and-above, which the vendor says can take up to an hour to train.

It is a genuine breadth of features. For a brand that lives or dies on ad-creative volume, that matters more than any single polished clip.

## Does it work?

In short bursts, yes. The talking avatars are convincing for the first five to ten seconds, which is exactly the window a scroll-stopping hook needs. The vendor states talking-head videos take roughly two to ten minutes to render, and AI "hook" clips five to ten seconds, with longer waits at peak. That is fast enough for same-day ad iteration.

The weakness is consistency. Across independent user reviews, the recurring complaint is lip-sync drift on longer scripts — the mouth stops matching the words once a clip runs past a sentence or two. We could not stress-test every avatar ourselves, so we treat this as a widely reported pattern rather than a verified vendor spec. The practical takeaway is the same either way. Keep scripts short. This tool is built for 15-second ads, not two-minute explainers.

One more catch worth knowing. Editing an already-generated video burns another credit, because the render is treated as final. The vendor's FAQ confirms this, and only refunds a credit if the fault was a system error. Preview your script carefully before you hit generate.

## Pricing for Australians

Here is the first hard mark against MakeUGC for our readers. **Every price is in US dollars. There is no AUD pricing, no GST handling, and no Australian billing entity.** You pay in USD, your card issuer adds a foreign-transaction fee, and GST treatment falls to you as the importer of a digital service.

The prices below were read on the vendor's own pricing page from Australia on 1 October 2026 and re-read on 8 October 2026\. Both times, Startup and Growth sat under a "Special 24h offer" banner (30% off) with a countdown clock. The previous edition of this review scored the May tiers: US$49, US$69 and US$119 a month for 5, 10 and 20 videos.

| Plan | What you pay today (USD/mo) | Approx AUD/mo, ex-GST\* | Credits / month |
| ---------- | --------------------------------------- | ----------------------- | --------------- |
| Startup | **US$59** (US$89 list, struck through) | \~A$84 (list \~A$127) | 500 |
| Growth | **US$79** (US$119 list, struck through) | \~A$113 (list \~A$170) | 1,000 |
| Pro | US$149 ("Start for $1") | \~A$213 | 2,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | — | Custom |

\*Converted at A$1 = US$0.6970 (RBA, 7 Oct 2026), so US$1 ≈ A$1.43, ex-GST. GST-registered businesses quoting an ABN are not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add \~10%.

**What you actually pay is US$59 or US$79.** The page shows US$89 and US$119 struck through, with a countdown "24h offer" beside them. That same offer was running on 1 October, so the clock is a pressure tactic, not a deadline. At list, prices are up 25–82% on May's US$49, US$69 and US$119\. The plans are also sold in credits now, not videos. The pricing page does not say how many credits one video uses (checked 8 October 2026), so you cannot work out a per-ad cost before you pay. Confirm the current USD figure and your bank's conversion before you subscribe.

A few mechanics deserve calling out:

- **No free trial.** Startup, Growth and Pro all offer a US$1 first month, then the plan renews at full price. Read that as a paid trial, not a free one.
- **Credits do not roll over month to month.** The vendor's FAQ says credits "do not roll over — unused credits expire at the end of the month" (read 8 October 2026). Buy the credits you will actually use.
- **Refunds are tight.** The terms of service state payments are "non-refundable except where required by law," and route disputes to binding arbitration in London. The vendor's FAQ separately promises a no-questions refund if you cancel before using the subscription. Those two statements sit in tension, so get any refund promise in writing.

For 500 credits a month at about A$84, the entry price is high for a sole trader. For an agency pumping out dozens of variations on Batch Mode, the maths improves. But with no published credits-per-video figure, even heavy users are paying for an output they cannot cost in advance.

## Australian fit: the weak point

This is where MakeUGC falls down for our readers, and why it cannot earn more than four stars, whatever its raw total.

**Company and data location.** MakeUGC is operated from London (45 Fitzroy Street, Fitzrovia). Its privacy policy states your information "may be stored and processed in the United Kingdom or other jurisdictions where we or our service providers maintain facilities." There is no Australian data residency, and no mention of Australia anywhere in the pricing, privacy or terms pages we reviewed.

**Governing law.** The terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with disputes pushed to binding arbitration through the London Court of International Arbitration. For an Australian business, that means any serious dispute is fought under English law, in London. That is a meaningful barrier most local tools do not impose.

**Privacy.** The policy frames compliance around UK and EU GDPR and Standard Contractual Clauses for cross-border transfers. It makes no reference to the Australian Privacy Act or the Australian Privacy Principles. The policy does note AI-model training on user data, with an opt-out available — worth actioning if you upload brand or product material.

**Support.** Support is email-based (help@makeugc.ai) plus a dashboard widget, with a dedicated Slack channel reserved for Enterprise. There is no Australian-timezone support commitment we could find. Expect UK-hours responses.

None of this makes MakeUGC unusable in Australia. Plenty of Australians will run it happily. But "happily" is not "built for you," and our scoring reflects that gap.

## Who it is for

**Buy it if** you run a high-volume e-commerce or DTC brand, you need a constant stream of short AI ad variations, and you are comfortable paying in USD and accepting offshore data storage. On Batch Mode, the cost per variation can still undercut hiring creators.

**Skip it if** you need broadcast-grade polish, longer-form video where lip-sync holds, AUD billing and GST handled at checkout, local data residency, or Australian-hours support. A finance, legal or healthcare brand with data-sensitivity obligations should look harder before uploading anything.

This is an ad-volume machine, not a premium video studio. Judge it on that.

## The verdict

MakeUGC is a fast, broad, genuinely useful AI ad generator with a real weakness in consistency and a complete absence of Australian consideration. The avatars sell the hook. The lip-sync betrays the longer take. The pricing is USD, the data is offshore, and the contract is English.

For the right user — a volume-driven e-commerce brand testing creative at speed — it can still pay its way, with eyes open. For most of the 35-year-old Melbourne business owners we write for, the uncostable credits, foreign billing, offshore data and thin support make it a no.

**Score: 12/25 — ★★★ Good.** A capable tool that has become dearer and does not earn a recommendation as a category pick for Australians.

| Value for Money | 2 / 5 | You cannot cost a video in advance: credits per video are not published, credits expire monthly, and the refund terms contradict each other. A countdown "24h offer" that has run since at least 1 October pressures the sale. USD billing. |
| Ease of Use | 3 / 5 | Script-to-video is genuinely simple and fast, but no free trial and per-edit credit charges punish mistakes. |
| Feature Depth | 3 / 5 | Broad — avatars, dubbing, b-roll, product-in-hand, batch — but consistency on longer clips is the reported ceiling. |

> **Australian Fit gate.** MakeUGC scores 1/5 on Australian Fit, well below the 4/5 floor required for a five-star rating or a category Top Pick. Even a higher raw total could not lift it past four stars on local fit grounds. Here the raw total already sits at three stars, so no cap applies. See our [Methodology](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/) for how the gate works.

*Methodology: every tool is scored across five criteria worth five points each, for 25 total. Australian Fit is a gating criterion — a tool that does not serve Australians well cannot be named a category winner or wear five stars, regardless of its raw total.*

List prices are US$89, US$119 and US$149 a month for 500, 1,000 and 2,000 credits, a rise of 82%, 72% and 25%. Buyers actually pay US$59 for Startup and US$79 for Growth, under a countdown "24h offer" that was also running on 1 October. Startup, Growth and Pro all offer a US$1 first month. The page does not say how many credits a video uses, so the old per-video maths no longer holds. The 2/5 rests on that opacity, monthly credit expiry, conflicting refund terms and the countdown tactic. Conversions recut at the RBA rate of 7 Oct 2026\.
