> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Lemlist is a capable, well-designed AI cold outreach platform with genuine personalisation depth. For Australian sales teams and founders doing outbound, it works well technically. The problem is not the tool — it is the legal landscape. Cold emailing under Australia's Spam Act 2003 carries real compliance obligations that Lemlist cannot handle for you. If you know the rules and run clean campaigns, Lemlist is a solid pick. The Email plan is now one flat US$55 a month, billed yearly, for unlimited users, which makes it cheaper for small teams. If you are planning to blast lists without thinking about consent, stop reading and call a lawyer.

## What Lemlist is

Lemlist is a French-built AI cold outreach platform that lets sales teams send personalised email sequences at scale. It started as an email personalisation tool — famous for its ability to insert personalised images (your prospect's name on a whiteboard, their company logo on a mug) into emails — and has grown into a full multichannel outreach platform covering email, LinkedIn, cold calling, and SMS.

The company was founded in Paris in 2018 and has grown to become one of the more recognised names in cold outreach globally, with over 17,000 customers. It sits somewhere between lightweight cold email tools like Instantly or Smartlead and heavier sales engagement platforms like Salesloft or Outreach.

A built-in lead database (650M+ contacts) was added more recently, turning Lemlist into a prospecting-plus-outreach tool rather than just a sequencer.

## What it costs in Australia

Lemlist prices in USD and does not offer native AUD billing. Payments are processed via Stripe. AUD figures below are our conversions at US$1 = A$1.43 (RBA, 7 October 2026), shown ex-GST. A GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow about 10% on top. Check your Stripe invoice.

| Plan | USD/month (billed yearly) | USD/month (month to month) | Approx. AUD/month ex-GST (yearly) |
| ------------ | ------------------------- | -------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| Email | $55 flat, unlimited users | $69 | \~$79 |
| Multichannel | $87 per user | $109 per user | \~$124 per user |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |

Quarterly billing saves 10%; yearly saves 20%. Prices read on lemlist.com/pricing on 30 September 2026 and re-read 8 October 2026; the plans were renamed and restructured since June (Email Pro, Multichannel Expert and Outreach Scale are gone).

**What each plan includes:**

- **Email:** One flat price for the whole team, not per user: unlimited users and email senders, 50,000 emails a month, email and phone-number finder, the 650M+ lead database, lemAgent AI agents, lemlist MCP and CLI, email warm-up and the deliverability hub, CRM integrations and API. Suits small teams doing email-only outreach.
- **Multichannel:** Everything in Email, priced per user, plus 5 senders per user, unlimited emails and messages, LinkedIn and SMS automation, a WhatsApp add-on, a built-in call dialer and VoIP integrations, and use from Gmail and LinkedIn.
- **Enterprise:** Custom-quoted. Five or more senders per user, use from your CRM, custom roles and permissions, a dedicated account manager, SSO/SAML and priority support.

Additional costs to budget for: lead data is now an add-on, with enrichment from USD $16 a month billed yearly ($20 month to month) for 2,000 credits and buying-intent signals from USD $21 ($29) for 100 signals.

---

## How it works in practice

You start by building a prospect list — either importing contacts you already have, using Lemlist's built-in database (650M+ contacts, searchable by job title, industry, company size, location), or connecting Clay or Apollo.

Then you build a sequence. Lemlist's visual sequence builder lets you mix email steps, LinkedIn actions, call tasks, and delays. Conditional branching means you can send a different follow-up depending on whether someone opened the email or clicked a link.

**AI email writing:** The AI writer generates personalised email copy based on your prospect's LinkedIn profile, company data, and your targeting parameters. You can generate entire sequences, or use it to personalise individual steps.

**Personalised images:** Lemlist's signature feature. You can create image templates — a whiteboard with the prospect's first name, or a browser window showing their company website — and Lemlist automatically generates a unique version for each contact. Response rates reportedly improve when used well; the novelty effect wears off if overused.

**Lemwarm:** Lemlist's email warm-up tool. Connects to your sending mailbox and automatically sends and engages with small volumes of email to build sender reputation before you launch a cold campaign. It is genuinely useful for avoiding the spam folder.

**Lead enrichment:** Waterfall enrichment checks multiple data providers for phone numbers and verified emails, returning only the best result. Quality is reasonable; not perfect.

Campaigns run automatically. You can pause sequences, respond directly from the Lemlist inbox, or push reply data to your CRM via native integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive) or Zapier.

---

## What it does well

**Personalisation is the genuine standout.** Lemlist's liquid variables and personalised image feature remain the most creative in this price range. When used thoughtfully — one tailored image, a relevant opening line referencing something real about the prospect — response rates improve meaningfully compared to generic bulk email.

**Multichannel sequences work.** The combination of email, LinkedIn touchpoints, and call tasks in a single workflow reduces the coordination overhead for SDRs. You build the sequence once; Lemlist handles the timing.

**Lemwarm is genuinely useful.** A dedicated email warm-up tool built into the platform removes one common failure mode for cold outreach — landing in spam before a campaign even gets going.

**The built-in lead database saves a tool.** Not needing a separate Apollo or ZoomInfo subscription for basic prospecting reduces both cost and friction for smaller teams.

**G2 rating holds up.** 4.6/5 across 600+ reviews as of 2026 is a credible signal of real user satisfaction, not a manufactured number.

---

## What it doesn't do well

**Reporting is weak.** This is the most common complaint from experienced users. The standard campaign dashboards show open rates, click rates, and reply rates. Anything more sophisticated — deliverability breakdowns, sequence-step performance by persona, cohort analysis — is clunky or unavailable. If you want to optimise campaigns with data, you will spend time in spreadsheets.

**LinkedIn automation carries platform risk.** Lemlist's LinkedIn steps use a Chrome extension and browser automation approach. LinkedIn actively detects and restricts accounts that automate at scale. Lemlist provides warnings, but using LinkedIn automation through any third-party tool carries the risk of account restriction. This is not a Lemlist-specific problem — it is structural to how LinkedIn works.

**Customer support response times are inconsistent.** Multiple reviews flag slow responses on the standard tier. Enterprise support is faster. For a tool you depend on for pipeline generation, that matters.

**The AI copy is a starting point, not a finished product.** The AI-generated email drafts need editing before sending. They can be generic, occasionally robotic, and rarely match the tone of a well-crafted human opener. Build in editing time.

**USD-only billing.** No AUD pricing, no native GST handling on invoices, no localised payment. Minor inconvenience for individuals; more friction for businesses needing clean AUD invoices for tax purposes.

## Australian fit: the Spam Act 2003 obligation you cannot ignore

This section is not optional reading.

**Cold email is legal in Australia — under specific conditions.** The Spam Act 2003 governs all commercial electronic messages sent to Australian recipients. Key requirements:

1. **Consent:** You must have either express consent (the person signed up to receive emails from you) or inferred consent. For B2B cold email, inferred consent applies when a business person has published their contact details in a context that implies openness to receiving business email — for example, a work email listed on a company website, LinkedIn profile, or industry directory. Inferred consent is not a blank cheque: the content of your email must be relevant to why they published that address.
2. **Identify yourself clearly:** Every email must clearly identify who is sending it and on whose behalf.
3. **Functional unsubscribe:** Every email must include a working unsubscribe mechanism. That mechanism must remain active for at least 30 days after the email is sent. Unsubscribe requests must be honoured within 5 business days.
4. **No deceptive subject lines:** The subject line must not mislead the recipient about the content of the email.

**Penalties are real.** The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) enforces the Spam Act. Fines for serious or repeated breaches can reach into the millions of dollars per day.

**What Lemlist does and does not do:** \- Lemlist includes an unsubscribe link option in campaigns — you should enable this on every campaign sent to Australian recipients. - Lemlist does not manage consent records for you. You are responsible for knowing the basis on which you have consent to contact each person. - Lemlist does not verify whether a contact's details were publicly published (the inferred-consent test). You are responsible for list hygiene.

**The practical upshot for Australian users:** Lemlist is a compliant tool when used correctly. The burden of operating compliantly sits with you, not the platform. If you are purchasing lead lists without verifiable inferred consent and sending AI-generated mass email, you are taking on legal risk that Lemlist cannot protect you from.

**Data residency:** Lemlist stores data on French servers hosted by OVH. Data is not held in Australia. For most small business users this is unlikely to be an issue, but enterprise or regulated-sector users should note it.

**No Australian support, no AUD billing.** Lemlist is a European company with US customers as its primary market. Australian users are not a named priority in the product roadmap or support structure.

---

## Alternatives

- [**Instantly**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-instantly-australia-2026/)**:** Lower cost, higher volume, email-only. Better value for teams that want to run pure email sequences at scale without multichannel complexity.
- [**Smartlead**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-smartlead-australia-2026/)**:** Strong deliverability focus, unlimited mailbox connections on flat pricing, and solid warmup. Better for teams managing multiple domains.
- [**Apollo.io**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/apollo-io-review-australia-2026/)**:** Combines a larger contact database with built-in sequences and stronger CRM-like pipeline features. Better for teams who want less specialised personalisation but more prospecting coverage.

---

## Bottom line

Lemlist earns its reputation. For an Australian founder or sales team that does outbound B2B email and wants to stand out with genuine personalisation rather than spray-and-pray volume, it is one of the better tools in this price range.

The scoring reflects the gaps: no AUD billing, data offshore in France, reporting that does not keep pace with the campaign features, and the structural reality that this tool requires you to do your own Spam Act compliance homework.

Use it with clean lists, proper unsubscribe handling, and outreach that would genuinely be welcome by your target audience. Do not use it to send AI-generated bulk email to purchased lists and assume someone else has handled the compliance.

Update history
- **8 Oct 2026** — New edition. Score 14 → **15/25**. Was: Value for Money 3/5, judged on per-user pricing ("Email Pro" about US$63 a user). Now: **Value for Money 4/5** — the **Email plan is US$55 a month billed yearly (US$69 month to month) as one flat price for unlimited users and senders**, with 50,000 emails a month, warm-up and the lead database. For a three-person email team that is about a third of the old per-user cost. Not 5/5: lead enrichment is now a paid add-on (from US$16 a month), and Multichannel stays per user at US$87\. The other four criteria hold. Band unchanged at ⭐⭐⭐ Good. Conversions recut to US$1 = A$1.43 (RBA, 7 Oct 2026), ex-GST. Source: [lemlist.com/pricing](https://www.lemlist.com/pricing?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) (read 30 Sep 2026 in an Australian browser; re-read 8 Oct 2026). The previous edition is kept unchanged and linked above.
- **30 Sep 2026 — re-verified by browser; negative confirmed, plans restructured.** `lemlist.com/pricing` on an Australian connection: **Email is $55 a month billed yearly ($69 monthly) as one flat price for unlimited users**, where this review had "Email Pro" at about $63 per user; **Multichannel is $87 per user billed yearly ($109 monthly)**, as before; Enterprise custom. Lead enrichment and intent signals are now paid add-ons (from $16 and $21 a month). The pricing table, plan descriptions, add-on costs and the pricing FAQ (body and schema) are rewritten. Bare `$`, no `A$`. `aud_native: false` already set. Score held at 14/25; the flat Email price changes the team maths, so \[RS13\] is filed. Capture: `Dossiers/captures/lemlist-pricing-2026-09-30.txt`; [Wayback 30 Sep 2026](https://web.archive.org/web/20260930030335/https://www.lemlist.com/pricing).
- **24 Sep 2026 🇦🇺 CORRECTION — an AUD range whose upper end was still on the retired 1.55 basis.** Found by sentry 18 after it was taught that **a currency stated once governs the whole list**: this review converted the **low** end of its range at **1.4045** and the **high** end at about **1.55**, so the two figures sat side by side on two different bases and the wrong one looked like a legitimate upper bound. Our AUD pricing rule retired 1.55 on 5 September 2026\. **The US figures are unchanged and correct**; only the Australian upper bound moves. Recalculated at US$1 = A$1.4045 (Frankfurter/ECB, 18 September 2026), ex-GST per our GST rule.
- **21 Sep 2026** — **A duplicate AUD column removed — the 6 September re-basing rebased the GST column instead of deleting it.** The table carried two AUD columns holding **identical figures**, under a header that still described the second as a 10% gross-up. Every figure in it was already the ex-GST conversion, so **no number changed**; the column said something the column did not contain. Under our GST rule our conversions are shown ex-GST and the GST position is stated in words once, so the surviving column is headed ex-GST at USD→AUD 1.4045 (ECB reference rate, 18 September 2026). No USD price moved and no score changed. `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Lemlist legal to use in Australia?

Lemlist is a legal tool. Using it for cold email outreach to Australian recipients is also legal — provided you comply with the Spam Act 2003\. This means having express or inferred consent for every contact you email, clearly identifying yourself in every message, including a working unsubscribe link, and honouring unsubscribe requests within five business days. Lemlist does not manage your consent obligations for you. That responsibility sits with the user.

### How much does Lemlist cost in Australian dollars?

Lemlist prices in USD with no native AUD billing. Billed yearly, the Email plan is USD $55 a month flat for unlimited users (roughly AUD $79 ex-GST; USD $69 month to month), and the Multichannel plan is USD $87 per user a month (roughly AUD $124; USD $109 month to month), checked 8 October 2026\. A GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST; other buyers should allow about 10% — check your invoice. Enterprise pricing is custom-quoted.

### Where does Lemlist store data?

Lemlist stores user data on French servers hosted by OVH. Data is not held in Australia. Lemlist operates as a data processor under GDPR, with users acting as data controllers. Australian enterprise or regulated-sector organisations with data sovereignty requirements should review Lemlist's privacy policy and consider whether offshore data storage is acceptable for their use case.
