> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Landbot is a polished no-code chatbot builder for teams that need structured conversations — lead qualification forms, appointment booking flows, website quizzes — deployed as a chat interface rather than a static form. It does this well. Where it falls short for most Australian businesses is cost: the WhatsApp pricing is expensive, the AI chat allocation is small even on paid plans, and there is no AUD billing. Data is stored in EU infrastructure (Belgium, Google Cloud), which is better than US but still not Australia. If you want a lead capture bot for a website or WhatsApp, Landbot is a genuine option. If you want a full AI support agent, it is the wrong tool.

## What Landbot is

Landbot is a no-code chatbot builder founded in Barcelona, Spain in 2017\. It lets you create chatbot experiences for websites and WhatsApp using a visual drag-and-drop canvas — no developer required.

The platform's core strength is structured conversation design. Instead of a traditional form, users interact with a chatbot flow: questions appear one at a time, responses are collected in variables, and branching logic determines what happens next. This creates a conversational experience that typically gets higher completion rates than static forms.

In recent years, Landbot has added AI capabilities — an AI Agent mode powered by GPT models that can handle open-ended queries rather than purely scripted flows. This combination of structured flows and AI responses is the product's current proposition.

## What it costs in Australia

Landbot prices in USD. There is no AUD billing option. All figures below are converted at USD 1 = AUD 1.40\. Figures are ex-GST: a GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add \~10%. business subscribers — the vendor does not publish Australia-specific tax information; confirm with Landbot.

Source: landbot.io/pricing, read in a browser from Australia on 1 October 2026\. (In June this table came from secondary sources: Starter US$46, Pro US$105, Business US$450.) The WhatsApp line below is June's figure; WhatsApp is now an add-on to Professional and its price was not shown.

**Overages:** Regular chats beyond the plan allocation cost approximately USD $0.05 each (\~AUD $0.07); AI-powered chats cost approximately USD $0.10 each (\~AUD $0.14). These costs can add up quickly on a live WhatsApp deployment.

**Annual discount:** 20% off on annual billing.

## How it works in practice

The Landbot canvas is the platform's strongest feature. You design a conversation by placing blocks — message blocks, question blocks, logic blocks, integration blocks — and connecting them with arrows that define the conversation path. It is genuinely intuitive. Someone who has never built a chatbot before can have a working flow in an afternoon.

The AI Agent mode works differently: instead of scripted flows, you configure a system prompt and connect a knowledge base, then let GPT handle open-ended queries. You can mix scripted flows and AI responses in the same bot — for example, a scripted intake form followed by an AI-powered Q&A section.

Data collected in conversations — names, emails, company details — is captured in variables and can be pushed to CRMs, Google Sheets, or other platforms via native integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier) or webhooks.

WhatsApp is a distinct product tier in Landbot. You need to connect a WhatsApp Business API account (via Meta or a third-party BSP), and the WhatsApp plan pricing is priced separately from the website plan.

---

## What it does well

**Visual builder is excellent.** The drag-and-drop canvas is the best in this review category for pure ease of use. If your requirement is a structured conversation — a lead qualification flow, an appointment booking sequence, a survey with branching logic — Landbot makes this faster than any alternative.

**Stable and reliable.** Users consistently report that conversations load quickly, the platform does not have persistent downtime, and the WhatsApp automation runs reliably.

**Strong integrations.** Native connections to HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Google Sheets, Calendly, and Zapier. For a marketing or sales team capturing leads, this means no manual export.

**14-day free trial on paid plans.** No credit card required. The account downgrades to Sandbox (100 chats/month) rather than cutting off access when the trial ends.

**EU data residency.** Data is stored in Belgium on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. For Australian businesses where EU data hosting is acceptable — which it often is for teams not subject to strict local data requirements — this is a meaningfully better story than US-only vendors.

---

## What it doesn't do well

**AI chat allocation is tight.** The Starter plan includes 100 AI-powered chats per month. That is roughly 3 AI conversations per day. For a business with real traffic, this is inadequate. You either pay overage fees (USD $0.10/AI chat, \~AUD $0.14) or upgrade to a more expensive plan.

**WhatsApp pricing is expensive.** USD $233/month (\~AUD $326 ex-GST) for WhatsApp is a meaningful minimum spend. For an Australian small business with a WhatsApp support line that handles 500 conversations per month, this is the cheapest entry point — with overages if volume exceeds 2,500 chats.

**Not a full support platform.** Landbot does not have a built-in support inbox, ticket management, or agent workspace. If a conversation exceeds the chatbot's ability to help, the handoff to human agents requires integration with an external tool (Intercom, Zendesk, etc.). You are building a front-door experience, not a full support platform.

**No version control on the canvas.** Large, complex bots become hard to manage over time. The lack of version control means a mistaken edit is difficult to reverse without rebuilding. Users report that the canvas degrades on very large flows.

**No AUD billing.** All charges are in USD, with exchange rate exposure on every billing cycle.

---

## Australian fit

**Data residency:** Landbot stores data on Google Cloud Platform servers in Belgium, EU. This is Europe, not Australia, but it is a better scenario than US-only vendors for businesses where offshore data storage is acceptable. There is no Australian data centre option. Privacy Act 1988 cross-border transfer obligations apply — the EU-based hosting does not provide the same standing as an Australian centre, but Landbot's GDPR-compliant infrastructure means the data handling standards are well-documented.

**Pricing:** USD-only. No AUD billing, no published GST treatment.

**Local support:** No Australian office or Australian timezone support team. Support is via documentation, email, and in-app chat.

**Privacy Act consideration:** If your Landbot chatbot collects personal information from Australian users — names, emails, contact details, health or financial information — you need to ensure your privacy policy discloses the overseas data transfer to Belgium. The EU hosting means Landbot operates under GDPR standards, which are stricter than many US vendors, but it is still offshore from Australia's perspective.

## Alternatives

- [**Tidio (Lyro AI)**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/tidio-lyro-ai-review-australia/) — Better for e-commerce support; Shopify/WooCommerce native; similar no-code approach; also stores data offshore.
- [**Chatbase**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-chatbase-australia-2026/) — Better for AI-powered FAQ support chatbots trained on your documents; simpler to set up for support use cases.
- [**Freshdesk (Freddy AI)**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/freshdesk-freddy-ai-review-australia/) — Better if you need a full ticketing and support platform alongside the chatbot; Freshworks has a Sydney office.

## Bottom line

Landbot is the right tool for a specific use case: structured conversational flows for lead generation, qualification, or appointment booking, deployed on a website or WhatsApp. The builder is excellent, the platform is stable, and the integration story is solid.

It is the wrong tool if you want a full AI support chatbot. The AI chat allocation is too small for meaningful support volume, there is no native support inbox, and the WhatsApp plan pricing is a significant minimum spend for a small Australian business.

If your use case is lead capture or qualification flows, start the 14-day trial. Build your first flow on the Starter plan and confirm whether the 100 AI chat allocation covers your expected volume before upgrading. If you are looking for a customer service chatbot to handle inbound support queries, look at Chatbase, Tidio, or Freshdesk first.

Update history
- **1 Oct 2026** — Prices checked on Landbot's own pricing page from Australia (June's table relied on secondary sources). **Was:** Starter US$46, Pro US$105, Business US$450 a month. **Now:** Starter US$45 a month or US$36 billed annually; Professional (the old Pro) US$110 or US$88; Business priced by contract. WhatsApp is now an add-on to Professional. Still billed in US dollars. [Archived copy](https://web.archive.org/web/20260930201216/https://landbot.io/pricing).
- **24 Sep 2026** — **The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table.** The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. The ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule — the column headed *“AUD/month (approx, if GST charged, +10%)”*: Sandbox (Free) **$0**; Starter **\~$70**; Pro **\~$162**; Business **\~$693**; WhatsApp Starter **\~$359**. `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.
- **24 Sep 2026** — **2 Australian figures in the prose corrected to agree with this review's own pricing table.** The table was verified cell by cell earlier today; they still quoted the retired 1.55 basis, in 2 places — verdict lines, score rationales, the excerpt and the JSON-LD are where a reader actually meets a price, and a pairing check cannot see them because they name no USD figure alongside. Kept visible per our price-history rule: **AUD $163 → AUD $147**; **AUD $71 → AUD $64**. The replacement values are taken from the table, not recomputed, so the two now agree exactly. **No USD price moved and no score changed.** `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where does Landbot store data?

Landbot stores data on Google Cloud Platform servers in Belgium, Europe. There is no Australian data centre option. Australian businesses handling personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 need to ensure their privacy policy discloses the transfer of data to Belgium and that appropriate cross-border arrangements are in place.

### How much does Landbot cost in AUD?

Landbot prices in USD only. At approximately USD 1 = AUD 1.40, the Starter plan costs around AUD $50/month billed annually (ex-GST), the Professional plan around AUD $123/month, and the WhatsApp Starter plan around AUD $326/month. A 20% annual billing discount applies. Verify current pricing at landbot.io/pricing before subscribing.

### Is Landbot good for customer support?

Landbot is best suited to lead capture and qualification flows rather than full customer support. The AI chat allocation is tight even on paid plans (100 AI chats/month on Starter), there is no built-in support inbox or ticket management, and human handoff requires integration with a separate tool. For customer support, Chatbase, Tidio, or Freshdesk are better options for most Australian businesses.
