> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Kickresume is a well-designed AI resume and cover letter builder that packs a lot into its free tier and offers polished templates that look genuinely professional. It is built in Slovakia and hosted in the EU, which means GDPR-standard privacy protections apply — a meaningful difference from most US competitors. For Australians, it works well as a document builder. The AI writer generates solid first drafts quickly, but you will need to edit every output for accuracy and Australian context. At USD $8/month (annual plan), it is decent value. The gap in Australian-market awareness keeps the score modest.

## What Kickresume is

Kickresume is an online resume and cover letter builder founded in 2013 and developed by Kickresume s.r.o., headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia. The company claims more than eight million users worldwide and is certified by the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches (PARWCC).

The platform centres on two things: templates and AI writing. The template library includes 40+ premium designs, all described as ATS-friendly. The AI writer, powered by a large language model, can generate an entire resume or cover letter from your job title and the position you are applying for. It can also rewrite existing content, generate summary statements, and tailor bullet points to a specific job description.

Beyond resume building, Kickresume includes a personal website builder (seven templates), a career map feature that analyses your resume and suggests career paths, and an ATS resume checker. The mobile app is available on iOS and Android.

## What it costs in Australia

**On kickresume.com**, Kickresume prices in USD with no AUD option. The company is EU-based and subject to GDPR, but does not appear to collect GST from Australian subscribers (verify with your accountant). *(Corrected 21 Sep 2026 — this line previously said there was no AUD option at all. The iPhone app has one, at a fraction of the price; see below.)*

| Plan | USD Price | AUD (approx, ×1.40) |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------- |
| Free | $0/month | $0 |
| Premium Monthly | USD $24/month | \~A$34/month |
| Premium Quarterly | USD $18/month (billed $54/quarter) | \~A$25/month (\~A$76/quarter) |
| Premium Yearly | USD $8/month (billed $96/year) | \~A$11/month (\~A$134/year) |

*Exchange rate: 1 USD ≈ 1.4045 AUD (ECB reference rate, 18 September 2026). Our AUD figures are conversions shown ex-GST: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; an unregistered buyer should allow \~10% on top.*

The yearly plan at USD $8/month (\~A$11/month) is genuinely affordable for a job search that runs three to six months. The free plan includes four resume templates, four cover letter templates, and 1,500+ resume examples — enough to produce a functional document without paying anything.

A grammar correction add-on (human proofreading) is available for USD $30 per resume (\~A$42).

**The in-app prices are far lower, and we cannot yet explain why.** The [Australian App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/id1523618695?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) declares `"priceCurrency":"AUD"` with Kickresume as seller of record and lists, GST included on an Apple tax invoice:

| In-app purchase | Price | The web equivalent |
| -------------------- | ----------- | ------------------------------------- |
| Monthly Subscription | **A$14.95** | \~A$34/month |
| Yearly Subscription | **A$39.95** | \~A$134/year |
| Proofreading | A$44.99 | \~A$42 per resume — **roughly level** |

A$39.95 for a year against about A$134 on the web is a gap of more than 70%, which no exchange rate explains. Apple lists every live in-app purchase including legacy tiers, so this may be an old price the app still honours, a narrower in-app product, or simply the better deal. The proofreading add-on lining up with the web figure says the listing is current rather than abandoned. **Open the app and check before you subscribe on the website** — on these numbers it could save you most of the annual cost. Read 21 September 2026; queued for the monitor to settle in-app.

## How it works in practice

After signup, you choose a template and fill in sections — contact details, work experience, education, skills, and so on. The interface is clean and drag-and-drop. Each section can be completed manually or handed to the AI writer.

The AI resume writer asks for your job title and (optionally) the job ad you are applying for, then generates a full resume draft. In testing, the output is competent but generic. The work experience bullets lean on stock phrases ("collaborated with cross-functional teams," "drove revenue growth"). You will spend fifteen to twenty minutes editing a generated resume to make it accurate and specific.

The cover letter generator is faster and arguably more useful. It produces a coherent, structured letter in under a minute. Again, it needs editing — particularly to remove any US-specific phrasing or assumptions about the hiring context.

The ATS checker compares your resume against Kickresume's internal benchmark of "successful resumes." It is a useful gut check, though the specific scoring methodology is not disclosed.

The career map scans your resume and suggests roles you might be qualified for. It is a nice feature, but the suggestions skew toward global (mostly US) job markets, so treat it as directional rather than definitive for an Australian search.

---

## What it does well

**Strong template quality.** Kickresume's templates are genuinely better-looking than most competitors at this price point. Designed by typographers and tested by recruiters (per the PARWCC certification), they produce documents that look professional without looking designed-by-algorithm.

**EU data residency.** Kickresume is hosted in the EU and subject to GDPR. This does not mean your data stays in Australia, but GDPR imposes stricter obligations on data handling, breach notification, and your right to deletion than the current Privacy Act 1988 requires. For users in sensitive roles, this is a meaningful advantage over US-hosted alternatives.

**Affordable annual plan.** At USD $8/month (\~A$11/month) on the annual plan, Kickresume is one of the cheapest premium resume builders with AI features. A seven-month job search would cost roughly A$84 — less than an hour of a professional resume writer's time.

**Cover letter builder.** The matching cover letter templates and AI writer make producing a tailored cover letter a fifteen-minute job rather than a two-hour one. For Australians applying to roles that request cover letters (which is most roles), this is a genuine time saver.

**Student discount.** Free premium access for ISIC/ITIC/UNiDAYS cardholders. Useful for Australian university students.

---

## What it doesn't do well

**No Australian market awareness.** Kickresume's AI writer does not know Australian hiring conventions, industry-specific terminology for the AU market, or the distinction between how a Melbourne-based professional and a US-based professional would frame the same experience. "Managed a budget of $50,000" means something different in USD and AUD — the tool will not flag this. Every output needs Australian-context editing.

**AI output is generic.** The generated content is a starting point, not a finished product. Presenting AI-generated bullets verbatim risks producing a resume that reads like every other AI-assisted resume in the pile. Australian recruiters are increasingly good at spotting them.

**No AUD pricing on the website.** Every web plan is billed in USD and your card will be charged a foreign currency fee on top of the amounts above. The iPhone app is the exception — Australian dollars, GST included, and at listed prices far below the web. *(Corrected 21 Sep 2026.)*

**The ATS checker lacks transparency.** The scoring methodology for the ATS resume checker is not publicly documented. "Scores like successful resumes in our database" is not a testable claim.

**Career map is US-centric.** The career path suggestions reflect global (primarily US) job market data. Not reliable for Australian career planning.

---

## Australian fit

Kickresume is accessible from Australia and works without restriction. The EU hosting and GDPR compliance are genuinely better than what you get from US-based tools in terms of privacy protections. However, the platform has almost no Australian localisation: no Seek integration, no awareness of Australian job market norms, and no guidance on Australian resume conventions (such as whether to include a photo — generally no in Australia, though the tool's templates sometimes include photo sections).

The templates are format-neutral enough that an Australian could produce a respectable CV without too much rework. The cover letter templates match AU conventions reasonably well (a short professional letter, not the US-style one-page essay).

**Australian Fit score: 2/5.** EU data residency is a plus over US tools, but there is no AU localisation and no specific AU-market features — no Seek integration, no Australian resume conventions. AUD pricing does exist in the iPhone app, at listed prices we cannot yet reconcile with the website, which is a finding rather than a mark. *(Rationale corrected 21 Sep 2026; mark unchanged — see Update history.)*

## Alternatives

- [**Teal**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-teal-australia-2026/) — US-based, better job-tracker features, stronger free tier for job tracking. Similar Australian-fit limitations.
- [**Rezi**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-rezi-australia-2026/) — More ATS-focused, lifetime plan option, slightly cheaper if you want a one-off payment.
- [**Grammarly**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/grammarly-review-australia-2026/) — Not a resume builder, but an excellent editing layer to apply after you have drafted your resume in Kickresume. The two tools complement each other well.

---

## Bottom line

Kickresume is a competent, affordable resume and cover letter builder with templates that look more professional than most tools at this price. The EU hosting is a genuine plus for privacy-conscious Australians. The AI writer saves time on drafts but every output needs editing — do not submit a generated resume without going through it line by line.

At USD $8/month on the annual plan (\~A$11), it is a reasonable investment during an active job search. Use it for the templates and the cover letter generator. Do the Australian-context editing yourself.

Update history
- **21 Sep 2026** — **The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table.** The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: under the ATO rule our GST treatment rests on, a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. **Nothing was re-cut** — the ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule: the column headed *"AUD if GST charged (+10%)"* (Premium Monthly **\~A$37/month**; Premium Quarterly **\~A$28/month (\~A$83/quarter)**; Premium Yearly **\~A$12/month (\~A$148/year)**). The GST position is now stated in words once, beneath the table, in place of the old “Australian consumers may be liable for 10% GST” note — which was true of consumers and wrong for the GST-registered businesses this publication is written for. No USD price moved and no score changed. `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.
- **21 Sep 2026** — **Kickresume's Australian App Store prices are a fraction of its web prices, and the gap is too large to score on. Recorded and flagged for the monitor.** This review says *"Kickresume prices in USD. There is no AUD option"* and repeats it in three more places. The [Australian App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/id1523618695?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) declares `"priceCurrency":"AUD"`, names **Kickresume** as seller and carries **Monthly Subscription A$14.95, Yearly Subscription A$39.95 and Proofreading A$44.99**, GST included, on an Apple tax invoice. **Against the web that is A$14.95 a month versus \~A$34, and A$39.95 a *year* versus \~A$134.** A 70%-plus gap on the annual tier is not a currency difference; it is either a legacy tier Apple still lists, a narrower in-app product, or a price we should be recommending loudly — and from the listing alone we cannot tell which. **So nothing moves.** Value for Money holds at 3/5 and Australian Fit at 2/5\. The one figure that reconciles cleanly is the proofreading add-on: **A$44.99 in the app against US$30 (\~A$42) on the web**, which is roughly level and suggests the listing is live rather than abandoned. That makes the subscription gap more interesting, not less. Queued for the monitor to resolve inside the app. **Was: "Kickresume prices in USD. There is no AUD option."** Found by the app-store pricing pass, `Audits/app-store-pricing-2026-09-21.md`. ## Frequently asked questions

### Is Kickresume available in Australia?

Yes, Kickresume is available to Australian users with no geographic restrictions. The platform is based in Slovakia, EU, and data is subject to GDPR protections. Web pricing is in USD only, so Australian users should expect a foreign currency conversion fee from their bank. The iPhone app does bill in Australian dollars with GST included — and at listed prices well below the website's, which we have flagged for re-checking inside the app.

### How much does Kickresume cost in Australian dollars?

Kickresume's free plan is available at no cost. Premium plans start at USD $8/month on the annual plan (approximately A$11/month at June 2026 exchange rates), USD $18/month quarterly (\~A$25/month), or USD $24/month billed monthly (\~A$34/month). The 14-day money-back guarantee applies to all paid plans.

### Does Kickresume's AI produce ready-to-use resumes?

No. Kickresume's AI writer produces a competent first draft, but the output is generic and unlikely to stand out in a competitive application pile. All AI-generated content — including work experience bullets, summary statements, and cover letter text — needs to be edited for accuracy, specificity, and Australian market context before submission.
