**The gate:** Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

> **The verdict:** Instantly is one of the most capable cold email platforms available, with unlimited inbox connections, solid deliverability tooling, and a growing suite of AI features. For an Australian small business doing serious outbound sales, it can genuinely move the needle. But the advertised starting price is misleading — you need at least two or three modules to do anything useful, and the real monthly cost starts at US$85 (\~A$119) for the Starter bundle. Data lives on US servers, there is no AUD billing, no GST invoice, and the platform's compliance guidance ignores Australian spam law entirely. If you already understand cold email and are doing outbound at scale, Instantly is a strong choice. If you are just starting out, the complexity and cost will likely frustrate you before you see results. Score: 13/25 — Good.

We keep every edition so you can see how the tool and our verdict have moved — [how and why](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-timeline/).

## What it is

Instantly (operated by Foo Monk LLC, a Wyoming-registered company founded by Nils Schneider and Raul Kaevand) is a cold email automation platform that has grown into a broader sales engagement suite. It launched in 2021, reached a reported US$2.4 million ARR within its first nine months, and now claims 50,000+ users.

The core product lets you connect unlimited email accounts and send cold email campaigns at scale. You can warm up new inboxes automatically, manage replies across every account in a single dashboard (called Unibox), and build multi-step sequences with automated follow-ups. On top of that, Instantly has built a B2B lead database (450M+ contacts), a basic CRM, website visitor identification, and — more recently — AI agents that can prospect, draft, and reply on your behalf.

It is aimed at sales development reps, founders doing their own outbound, and agencies running outreach for clients. It is not a general-purpose CRM. It is not a marketing email platform. It is a high-volume cold email engine with increasingly capable AI scaffolding around it.

## What it costs in Australia (AUD + GST)

All pricing is in USD. There is no AUD billing option. Instantly's terms state that all payments are made in US dollars and that the subscriber bears "all sales, use, excise and other taxes" — but the platform does not reference Australian GST or how it is treated at checkout. On the available documentation, GST is not itemised on an Instantly invoice; treat any GST as your own obligation to account for, not something Instantly will break out for you.

**Bundle plans (annual billing, approx. AUD conversion at ×1.40, the 5 September 2026 rate, ex-GST):**

| Plan | USD/mo (annual) | AUD/mo (approx) | Emails/mo | Contacts | Instantly Credits/mo |
| ---------- | --------------- | --------------- | --------- | -------- | -------------------- |
| Starter | US$85 | \~A$119 | 5,000 | 1,000 | 1,500 |
| Scale | US$175 | \~A$245 | 100,000 | 25,000 | 5,000 |
| Agency | US$500 | \~A$700 | 500,000 | 100,000 | 10,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | 500,000+ | 100,000+ | Custom |

**Standalone plans (monthly billing, approx. AUD conversion at ×1.40, the 5 September 2026 rate, ex-GST):**

| Module | Plan | USD/mo | AUD/mo (approx) |
| --------------------- | ----------- | ------- | --------------- |
| Outreach | Growth | US$47 | \~A$66 |
| Outreach | Hypergrowth | US$97 | \~A$136 |
| Outreach | Lightspeed | US$358 | \~A$501 |
| Lead Finder (Credits) | Growth | US$47 | \~A$66 |
| Lead Finder (Credits) | Supersonic | US$97 | \~A$136 |
| Lead Finder (Credits) | Hyper | US$197+ | \~A$276+ |
| CRM | Starter | US$47 | \~A$66 |

**The real cost:**

Instantly's marketing leads with the Outreach Growth plan at US$47/mo (\~A$66). That gets you email sending — no lead database, no CRM. If you want the full platform (outreach + lead database + CRM), the standalone minimum is US$141/mo (\~A$197). The Bundle Starter at US$85/mo (\~A$119) is better value if you want all three modules, but even that limits you to 5,000 emails and 1,000 uploaded contacts per month — tight for most active outbound teams.

A practical mid-market setup — Scale bundle at US$175/mo (\~A$245) — is what most growing businesses will actually need. Annual billing saves roughly 10%.

No free tier. Instantly offers a no-credit-card-required signup to explore the interface, but you cannot send campaigns without a paid plan.

## How it works / features

**Unlimited email accounts.** This is Instantly's signature feature. You can connect as many email addresses as you like — whether you own five domains or fifty — without paying per inbox. Most cold emailers spread volume across many inboxes to protect deliverability. Instantly makes that economical.

**Email warmup.** New email accounts have poor sender reputation. Instantly's warmup feature automatically exchanges emails with other Instantly users to build that reputation before you launch campaigns. This is table-stakes for cold email platforms, but Instantly's implementation is solid.

**Unibox.** All replies from all connected accounts arrive in one inbox. At scale — where you might be running campaigns from 20 or 30 domains — this is essential. Without it, you would be logging into separate email accounts all day.

**Lead database (SuperSearch).** A built-in database of 450M+ B2B contacts with filters for industry, job title, company size, and more. Access is included with Credits plans. Quality is reasonable but not exceptional — expect to verify leads before importing them into your main CRM.

**AI features.** Instantly's AI capabilities have expanded significantly. The AI Sales Agent can prospect, draft, and send initial outreach. The AI Reply Agent categorises incoming responses and can auto-reply based on rules you set. "WARP Mode" promises to run end-to-end from lead sourcing to campaign launch automatically. These features are included in bundle plans and vary in usefulness — the auto-reply labelling is genuinely time-saving; the fully autonomous outreach mode requires careful guardrails.

**Sequences.** Multi-step email sequences with scheduling, conditional branching, and A/B testing (limited to 2 variants). Emails can be personalised at scale with merge fields and AI-generated custom opening lines.

**Website visitor identification.** A newer module that identifies companies visiting your website and adds them to outreach lists. Priced separately (US$97–US$397/mo, \~A$136–\~A$556), this is enterprise-tier pricing for what many smaller businesses would find marginal.

---

## What it does well

**Volume at a fair price.** If you are sending tens of thousands of emails a month, Instantly's per-email cost undercuts most alternatives. Connecting unlimited inboxes without per-account fees is a genuine structural advantage.

**Warmup is genuinely effective.** Inbox warming is where Instantly built its reputation. The warmup network is large enough to move the needle on new domains within two to four weeks, and the deliverability dashboard gives you clear signals before you burn a domain.

**Unibox saves real time.** Managing 10 or 20 inboxes manually is impractical. Unibox makes it feasible. Reply labelling (hot, not interested, meeting booked) means you can triage 100 replies in minutes rather than hours.

**Learning resources included.** The Instantly Accelerator — over 600 email templates and 50 standard operating procedures for cold outreach — is included with all plans. For someone newer to cold email, this is worth real money.

**AI reply categorisation works.** Incoming responses are automatically tagged by intent. You see "meeting booked," "not interested," and "out of office" labels without reading every email. In a campaign generating hundreds of replies, this is practical, not just a demo feature.

---

## Where it falls short

**The pricing model is deliberately confusing.** The "from US$47/mo" headline is technically accurate and practically misleading. You cannot do prospecting, sending, and pipeline management on one plan at that price. Most users end up paying three times what they expected in month one. Instantly knows this and has not fixed it.

**The CRM is not a CRM.** It is a Kanban board tied to campaign replies. It has no deal forecasting, no activity logging, no contact relationship history, no integration with phone or meeting tools. If you manage a sales pipeline with any complexity — multiple stakeholders, long cycles, territory management — you will need a real CRM alongside Instantly. That is another subscription.

**Deliverability issues surface at scale.** Independent reviewers and user forums (Reddit, Trustpilot) consistently report that warmup scores can look healthy while campaigns still land in spam. A number of users report inbox reputation degrading within weeks of starting high-volume campaigns. Instantly's own diagnostics do not always catch this early. The support response when it happens is slow.

**A/B testing is shallow.** You can test two variants per sequence step. Competitors offer five or more. For anyone running serious message optimisation, this is a real constraint.

**No native LinkedIn integration.** Cold outreach increasingly means LinkedIn + email. Instantly is email-only. Adding LinkedIn steps requires a separate tool and manual workflow stitching.

**Support quality is inconsistent.** The Growth plan gets chat support. Higher plans get "premium live support." In practice, users on plans under US$200/mo (\~A$280) often report landing in a chat queue with a bot or waiting days for a human response on complex issues. A January–February 2026 spike in negative Trustpilot reviews clusters around support failures during deliverability crises — exactly when you need fast help.

**Credits system caused billing confusion.** A credits overhaul in 2025 migrated the lead-database pricing model. Users reported surprise charges and plan mismatches. The transition appears largely resolved by mid-2026, but it signals a platform willing to change pricing structures without adequate notice.

---

## Australian fit

**Billing:** USD only. No AUD pricing. The Terms of Service explicitly state all payments are in US dollars and push all "sales, use, excise and other taxes" onto the subscriber, but no GST-compliant invoice structure is mentioned. On the available documentation, Australian businesses should not expect a GST-itemised tax invoice from Instantly.

**Data residency:** All customer data is hosted on AWS servers in the United States. Instantly's privacy policy is explicit: your data "will likely be processed and securely maintained in our web servers and internal systems located within the United States." There is no Australian region, no AU data processing option, and no mention of the Privacy Act 1988 or Australian Privacy Principles anywhere in Instantly's privacy policy, DPA, or public documentation.

**Australian spam law — critical gap:** Instantly's compliance documentation covers CAN-SPAM (US), GDPR (EU), and CASL (Canada). The Australian Spam Act 2003 is not mentioned in any Instantly blog post, guide, or terms document. This is a meaningful gap. Cold email is legal in Australia under the Spam Act only with the recipient's consent (express, or inferred from a work address they have published), accurate sender identification and contact details, and a working unsubscribe — but the platform does not guide Australian users through those requirements. A court can fine a company up to A$728,000 a day for Spam Act breaches, or A$3.64 million a day if it has a prior record. You need to know these rules yourself; Instantly will not tell you.

**No Australian support or local presence.** There is no AU phone number, no AEST business-hours support, and no Australian office. Support runs out of the US.

**Security certifications:** Instantly does not publicly claim SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification. Enterprise buyers seeking audit assurance are directed to request documentation under NDA.

For an Australian business, Instantly is a useful tool operating entirely offshore, with no local data protections and no compliance guidance tailored to Australian law. It is usable — but you carry the compliance risk yourself.

★★★ Good

**Australian Fit gate note:** Instantly's raw score is 13/25, which maps to ★★★ Good. Australian Fit scores 1/5, well below the ≥ 4/5 required for ★★★★★ Excellent or a Top Pick designation. The star rating is not capped from a higher band — it reflects the honest score. See our [review methodology](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/) for how the Australian Fit gate works.

## Bottom line

**If you run outbound sales at volume** — 10,000+ emails a month, multiple domains, a team of SDRs — Instantly is one of the most cost-effective platforms available and worth the complexity. The warmup infrastructure, unlimited inbox model, and Unibox alone justify the cost at that scale.

**If you are a solo founder or small business owner starting cold email for the first time,** the real entry cost (\~A$119/mo for the Starter bundle), the learning curve, the shallow CRM, and the lack of Australian compliance guidance make this a difficult first tool. Start with a simpler outreach tool and return to Instantly when you have the volume to justify it.

**If you are in a regulated Australian industry** — financial services, health, professional services — the US-only data hosting and absence of Privacy Act compliance documentation is a meaningful risk. Get legal advice before using Instantly to contact Australian consumers.

**If GST accounting matters to your business,** Instantly cannot provide a compliant Australian tax invoice. Factor that in before signing up.

Update history
- **8 Oct 2026:** New edition. Corrected the Spam Act penalty. Was: fines "can reach A$11 million per day". Now: a court can fine a company up to A$728,000 a day, or A$3.64 million a day with a prior record — 2,000 and 10,000 penalty units a day under Spam Act s25, at the A$364 Commonwealth penalty unit that applies to contraventions from 1 July 2026\. Sources: ACMA (Commonwealth Bank release, Oct 2024, which put the same unit counts at A$626,000 and A$3.13 million on the then A$313 unit) and ASIC's penalty-unit table (both read 8 Oct 2026). Score holds at 13/25: Australian Fit was already 1/5 for Instantly's silence on the Spam Act, and a lower ceiling does not change that gap. The previous edition is kept unchanged and linked above. Spam Act wording also corrected: consent may be express or inferred, and the Act requires accurate sender and contact details, not an Australian address. Penalty sources: [ACMA, Commonwealth Bank release, Oct 2024](https://www.acma.gov.au/articles/2024-10/commonwealth-bank-pays-75m-more-spam-breaches?ref=theaidirectory.com.au) (2,000 and 10,000 penalty units) · [ASIC, penalty unit A$364 from 1 July 2026](https://asic.gov.au/about-asic/asic-investigations-and-enforcement/fines-and-penalties/?ref=theaidirectory.com.au).
- **1 Oct 2026** — Prices re-checked on Instantly's pricing page from Australia: unchanged. Bundles are still US$85 (Starter), US$175 (Scale) and US$500 (Agency) a month, shown against the US$94, US$194 and US$555 you'd pay for the parts separately; the Outreach plans are still US$47, US$97 and US$358\. ## Frequently asked questions

### Is Instantly available in Australia?

Yes — it's a US-operated web platform usable from Australia, but it operates entirely offshore. There's no Australian office, no AEST business-hours support, no local data protections, and no compliance guidance tailored to Australian law.

### Does Instantly charge in AUD?

No. All pricing is in USD, and the Terms state payments are in US dollars with all taxes pushed onto you. There's no GST-itemised tax invoice, so treat any GST as your own obligation to account for. The headline "from US$47/mo" also misleads — a useful setup really starts at US$85/mo (about A$119).

### Is there a free plan?

No free tier. Instantly offers a no-credit-card signup to explore the interface, but you can't send campaigns without a paid plan.

### Does Instantly help with Australian Spam Act compliance?

No — and this is a real gap. Its compliance docs cover US CAN-SPAM, EU GDPR and Canadian CASL, but never mention Australia's Spam Act 2003\. Cold email is legal here only with the recipient's consent (express, or inferred from a work address they have published), accurate sender identification and contact details, and a working unsubscribe — but you must know those rules yourself.

### Who is Instantly best for?

Australian teams running outbound at volume (10,000+ emails a month, multiple domains, a team of SDRs). The unlimited-inbox model, warmup and Unibox justify the cost at scale. Solo founders new to cold email should start with a simpler tool.
