Edition 2\. Was [15/25, Jun 2026](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-dreamina-australia-2026-06/)

**The gate:** Five stars need 21+ and Australian Fit of at least 4/5.

> **Verdict (TL;DR).** Dreamina is generous and genuinely easy. It hands you free daily credits and a deep image, video and avatar toolkit. Its paid plans are now priced in Australian dollars, from A$22.90 a month. But three things still hold it back for Australian businesses. The credit maths takes work. Your data sits on US and Singapore servers. And the terms call it private, non-commercial use by default. Use it for personal projects and drafts. Read the terms before you put a frame near a client invoice. **Score: 15/25 — ★★★ Good.** *Last reviewed: 8 October 2026 by Adam. First reviewed 30 June 2026.*

Dreamina is the AI image and video studio from ByteDance, the company behind TikTok and CapCut. It lives at dreamina.capcut.com and shares CapCut's account system. You sign in, you get free credits each day, and you start generating. For a curious Melbourne marketer or a side-hustle founder, the barrier to first output is close to zero.

That low barrier is the whole pitch. It is also where the honest review has to start asking harder questions.

> **Earlier editions of this review:** [30 Jun 2026 — 15/25](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-dreamina-australia-2026-06/). This is edition 2, dated 8 Oct 2026\. We keep every edition so you can see how the tool and our verdict have moved — [how and why](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-timeline/).

## What Dreamina actually is

Dreamina is a browser-based creative platform. It does four things. It generates images from text. It generates video from text, images or sketches. It builds digital avatars, including talking ones. And it bundles design utilities — logos, posters, photo editing and restyling.

The model line-up is the interesting part. The vendor's homepage lists its own Seedream image models and Seedance video models, alongside ByteDance's Nano Banana image models. It also lists third-party video models, naming Sora 2 and Veo 3.1 (vendor homepage, captured 30 June 2026; we report this as Dreamina's own product listing, not as an independent benchmark). That is a wide spread of capability behind one free login. Sora 2 will drop off that list: OpenAI closes the Sora API on 24 September 2026.

For a non-technical user, the practical effect is simple. You type a prompt, pick a style, and get usable images in well under a minute. The interface does not demand that you understand what a model is. That is a real strength.

## Pricing in AUD

When this review was first written in June, Dreamina showed no plan prices to a logged-out visitor. That has changed. Its public pricing page now lists every paid plan **in Australian dollars**:

| Plan | Price (AUD, monthly) | Credits a month | Notes |
| -------- | -------------------- | ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | A$0 | Daily free credits | Watermarked downloads; for trying it out |
| Basic | A$22.90/mo | 2,215 | About 20 ten-second videos a month; removes the watermark |
| Standard | A$51/mo | 5,431 | About 49 videos a month |
| Advanced | A$225/mo | 24,795 | About 225 videos a month |
| Ultra | A$737/mo | 83,120 | About 755 videos a month |

*Source: dreamina.capcut.com/pricing/dreamina-price, read in an Australian browser 30 September 2026 and re-read 8 October 2026\. A first-month discount (A$2.29 on Basic, 40% off the others) was offered from 23 September to 9 October 2026; expect promotions like it to come and go. Yearly and quarterly tabs advertise 41% and 40% off; we could not get the yearly figures to render, so only monthly prices are shown. The page does not say whether GST is included; check the total at checkout.*

The prices are now clear. The credit maths is not. Each plan quotes an exchange rate ("AUD1 = 967 credits" on Basic, about 175–188 on the others) and a video count, but what a single image or video costs depends on the model, length and resolution you choose. Budget on the plan's video count, not the credit total.

## The catch nobody mentions: the non-commercial default

This is the line that matters most for our audience, and it is buried in the terms.

Dreamina's Terms of Service state the Services are "generally provided for private, non-commercial use," and prohibit using them to "advertise or perform any commercial solicitation" without authorisation (Dreamina Terms of Service, captured 30 June 2026). Read that twice. The default posture is personal use.

You do own your outputs. The same terms say that if you comply with them, "you own the Inputs you upload, and the Outputs generated in response." But you also grant the company and its affiliates a "perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, transferrable, no-charge, royalty-free, and sub-licensable" licence to use your assets for any purpose (Dreamina Terms of Service, captured 30 June 2026).

So you own the picture. ByteDance can also use it, forever, for anything. For a personal mood board, fine. For a logo you intend to trademark, or hero art for a paid campaign, that combination — non-commercial default plus a perpetual sub-licensable grant — is a reason to slow down and get advice. This is not legal advice, and Dreamina is not a Legal-category tool, but the commercial-use question is squarely a business one.

## Australian fit — the weak point

Dreamina is operated by Bytedance Pte. Ltd., registered in Singapore (Dreamina Terms of Service, captured 30 June 2026). Governing law defaults to Singapore.

On data, the CapCut privacy policy that governs the shared account states plainly: "We store the information we collect in secure servers located in the United States and Singapore" (CapCut Privacy Policy, captured 22 January 2026). It adds an Australia-specific clause noting that corporate-group entities "located outside of Australia" are given limited remote access to your information.

So for an Australian user: no AU data residency, offshore processing across two jurisdictions, and remote access by overseas group entities. For a hobbyist, this may not bother you. For anyone handling client material, brand assets or anything that touches the Privacy Act, it is a genuine consideration.

Paid plans are now priced in AUD (since at least September 2026). That is a real gain: you know what you will pay before you reach checkout. It is one Australian Fit factor of five. The page says nothing about GST, there is no AU-specific support channel we could find, and nothing in the product reflects Australian context. On our Australian Fit criterion, Dreamina still scores low on data and support.

## How it compares

If you want a serious image generator with Australian credibility, our [best AI image generators roundup](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/best-ai-image-generators-australia-2026/) names Leonardo AI as the top pick — Sydney-built, Canva-owned, and the only tool in that field to clear our Australian Fit bar. Ideogram beats Dreamina on text-in-image reliability. Adobe Firefly wins on clean commercial licensing, which is exactly where Dreamina is weakest.

Dreamina's edge is breadth at zero upfront cost. Few free tools put image, video and avatar generation behind one login. If your need is "make something quickly, today, for free, for myself," it delivers. If your need is "produce assets I can confidently sell or build a brand on," the field has clearer, safer options.

## Who it is for

**Use Dreamina if** you are a hobbyist, a student, or a marketer doing rough concepting and internal drafts. The free daily credits are real, the toolkit is broad, and the learning curve is gentle.

**Look elsewhere if** you need guaranteed commercial rights, generation costs you can forecast, Australian data residency, or licensing clean enough to put in front of a client. For that, Firefly, Ideogram or Leonardo are safer buys.

## Scorecard

| Criterion | Score | Why |
| --------------------- | --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Value for Money | 3/5 | Free daily credits are genuinely generous, paid plans are public in AUD from A$22.90/mo, and yearly billing advertises 41% off. Held at 3: credit burn per generation is hard to predict, and a non-commercial default licence caps what a business gets for its money. |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | Sign in and create. Broad toolkit, gentle curve, fast first output. One of the lowest barriers to entry in the category. |
| Feature Depth | 4/5 | Image, video, avatars and design under one login, with a wide model line-up. Deep for a free-to-start tool. |
| Australian Fit | 2/5 | AUD prices on the public pricing page are its one Australian strength. Against it: no GST statement, a Singapore operator, US and Singapore data storage, offshore remote access to AU user data, and no AU support. |
| Reliability & Support | 2/5 | ByteDance backing is real, but time-limited content handling, the perpetual broad licence and thin AU-facing support undercut trust for business use. |
| **Total** | **15/25** | **★★★ Good** |

Australian Fit is 2/5, below the 4/5 threshold our [Methodology](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/) requires for a five-star rating or a category Top Pick. Dreamina would not reach either even on the raw maths, so no cap applies here — but the low Australian Fit is the single biggest reason this sits at three stars, not four.

## The verdict

Dreamina is a fun, capable, free-to-start studio with a serious toolkit and a near-zero barrier. For personal use, it is an easy yes. For Australian business use, three flags — hard-to-predict credit costs, offshore data, and a non-commercial default licence — pull it down to a qualified recommendation. The new AUD prices help, but they do not fix any of the three. Generate freely. Just read the terms before anything you make goes commercial.

Update history
- **8 Oct 2026** — New edition: re-score after re-checking the AUD prices. Was: 15/25 with Value for Money, Australian Fit and Reliability each flagged for re-review. Now: 15/25, all five criteria re-scored and held. Public AUD prices are now a confirmed strength, but they lift neither criterion: the non-commercial default licence, offshore data and absent AU support still cap both. Reliability's note no longer cites pricing opacity. Source: Dreamina pricing page, AUD plans Basic A$22.90 to Ultra A$737 a month (read 8 Oct 2026). The previous edition is kept unchanged and linked above.
- **30 Sep 2026 🇦🇺 POSITIVE — Dreamina now publishes native AUD prices; this review said it published none.** On an Australian connection, logged out, the homepage's Pricing link opens `dreamina.capcut.com/pricing/dreamina-price`, which lists **Basic A$22.90, Standard A$51, Advanced A$225 and Ultra A$737 a month** (2,215 / 5,431 / 24,795 / 83,120 credits), with a first-month offer running 23 September to 9 October 2026 (A$2.29, A$31, A$135, A$442). Model tiles quote "Seedance 2.5 from A$0.05/sec". The page does not say whether GST is included. The pricing section, which said Dreamina "does not publish a stable, public price" and printed a third-party US$15–45 band, is rewritten around the vendor's own A$ figures; the verdict, excerpt, Australian-fit paragraph and sources are updated. **Score held at 15/25 for now**: Value for Money, Australian Fit and Reliability were each docked partly for opaque or non-AUD pricing, and all three cells are flagged for the next full re-review. `aud_native: true` (web).
