*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Crystal predicts a prospect's personality — how they like to be sold to, what builds trust, what creates friction — from their LinkedIn profile, then hands you talking points before the call. The coaching is genuinely useful and the LinkedIn workflow is fast. But it's USD-only with no AUD billing, hosted on AWS with no Australian data-residency option, and every plan caps how many people you can profile each month. A smart upgrade for a solo closer or a small sales team that lives on LinkedIn. Not a CRM, and not built for Australia.

## What Crystal is

Crystal is a personality platform that has been running since 2015 and claims more than 2 million professionals on the books. The core trick: it predicts a person's personality from their public footprint — chiefly their LinkedIn profile — and tells you how to communicate with them.

It leans on the DISC framework (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness), the four-letter shorthand a lot of sales trainers already use. Crystal layers five other assessment models on top — Big Five, Enneagram, 16 Personalities, Strengths and Values — but DISC is the one that drives the sales product.

For a salesperson, the pitch is simple. Before you email or call a prospect, Crystal tells you whether they want the bottom line in the first sentence (a "D"/Driver) or whether they need rapport and reassurance first (an "S"/Steadiness type). It generates meeting-prep notes, suggested talking points and tone adjustments. There's also a Chrome extension that surfaces a personality read directly on someone's LinkedIn page.

Crystal now sells four things: a personal coaching app (Free and Premium), Assessments for teams, Predictions for sales, and an API. This review judges the **sales** product (now called Crystal Predictions), since that's the Business/CRM & Sales lane.

## What it costs in Australia

Crystal bills in **US dollars only**. There is no AUD pricing and no local billing entity, so your card issuer sets the conversion and you wear foreign-transaction fees on top. The figures below are the official US prices, with an indicative AUD conversion at \~1.40 shown ex-GST (a GST-registered business quoting its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add \~10%). Crystal's pricing page shows no GST or tax line, and as a US-domiciled digital supplier it doesn't state whether Australian GST is added at checkout — so treat the AUD figures as a conversion estimates and confirm the final tax line on your own card statement.

| Plan | Official price (USD) | Indicative AUD (ex-GST) | What you get |
| ------------------- | -------------------- | ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free trial | US$0 | A$0 | First 3 prospect profiles, no monthly reset; the free Crystal account also covers all six assessments |
| Predictions Premium | US$59/mo (US$590/yr) | \~A$83/mo | 20 prospect profiles a month, meeting-prep briefs, follow-up guidance, LinkedIn connector |
| Predictions Teams | Custom (quote) | Not published | Higher prospect volume, HubSpot connector, team billing and onboarding |

*Source: crystalknows.com/pricing, checked 20 June 2026 and re-read in a browser 30 September 2026 (the June Sales Pro and Sales Max tiers are gone). AUD figures are our estimate, not a Crystal quote.*

The number that matters is the monthly profile cap. On Premium you get 20 prospect reads a month — fewer than one a working day. A reasonably active BDR will burn through that in a fortnight, and the only step up is Teams, which is quoted on request. Crystal doesn't publish team or seat pricing for the sales line — so a multi-seat rollout means a sales conversation rather than a number off the website.

## How it works in practice

You add a prospect three ways: paste a name, drop in a LinkedIn URL, or pull them from a calendar event. Crystal returns a profile in a few seconds — a predicted DISC type, a short read on their communication style, what builds trust with them, and where friction is likely.

The LinkedIn Chrome extension is the bit that makes it stick. You're already on a prospect's profile doing your research; Crystal overlays its read right there. Before a meeting, the prep view gives you talking points, questions to ask, and cues on tone and pace — open warm and slow for a Steadiness type, lead with results for a Driver.

It's coaching, not automation. Crystal doesn't send your emails or update your pipeline. It sits beside your real workflow and tells you *how* to play each conversation. Used honestly — as a prompt to adjust your approach, not gospel — it earns its keep on higher-value deals where getting the first call right matters.

## What it does well

- **Fast, low-friction reads.** Name or LinkedIn URL in, a usable personality profile out in seconds. No survey to send, no waiting on the prospect.
- **The LinkedIn extension meets you where you work.** If your prospecting already happens on LinkedIn, the overlay adds insight without a context-switch.
- **Genuinely practical coaching.** "Lead with the outcome, skip the small talk" is the kind of specific, actionable cue that changes how a call opens. Better than generic sales-script advice.
- **Serious on security for a tool this size.** SOC-2 Type II certified, GDPR and CCPA aligned, data encrypted at rest and in transit on AWS. Rare diligence for a sub-US$100/mo sales add-on.
- **DISC is a language sales teams already speak.** If your team has done any DISC training, Crystal slots straight into vocabulary they know.

## What it doesn't do well

- **Predicted, not verified.** Crystal infers personality from public text. It's an educated guess, and Crystal publishes no accuracy figure for its predictions. Treat every read as a hypothesis, never a fact about a real person.
- **The credit cap bites fast.** 20 profiles a month on Basic is thin for anyone prospecting seriously. The pricing nudges you up a tier quickly.
- **It's not a CRM.** No pipeline, no deal stages, no logging. It informs your selling; it doesn't manage it. You still need HubSpot, Pipedrive or similar alongside.
- **USD-only billing.** No AUD, no local invoice, foreign-transaction fees on every charge. Annoying for AU expense reconciliation and BAS time.
- **Ethical grey area.** Profiling someone's psychology from their LinkedIn without their knowledge sits uncomfortably for some buyers and some sellers. Worth a think before you roll it out across a team.

## Australian fit

This is where Crystal is weakest for our readers. There is no AUD billing and no Australian entity. Crystal's own SOC-2 page confirms the platform runs on **Amazon Web Services**, but it never names a region and **offers no Australian data-residency option** — and as a US-headquartered company, the default assumption is offshore hosting. For a tool that ingests names and LinkedIn data of your Australian prospects, that's a Privacy Act consideration worth raising with whoever owns compliance in your business. If data residency is a hard requirement for you, confirm the hosting region with Crystal directly before you commit.

On the upside, the product itself is geography-neutral. DISC and the communication coaching work the same whether your prospect is in Melbourne or Manchester — there's no US-centric data dependency that breaks for Australian contacts. Support is largely self-serve documentation, so the US time-zone gap is less of an issue than it would be for a tool needing live help.

Net: the *insight* travels fine to Australia. The *commercials and data posture* don't. No AUD, no local invoicing, no AU residency.

## Alternatives

- **Apollo** — if what you actually need is contact data and outreach at scale rather than personality coaching, an Apollo-style sales-intelligence platform is a different and arguably more foundational buy. Crystal complements it; it doesn't replace it.
- **HubSpot** — Crystal is a coach, not a system of record. If you don't yet have a CRM, fix that first; add Crystal later as a thin coaching layer on top.
- **Your own DISC training.** Blunt, but real: if your team already knows DISC, a half-day refresher plus manual LinkedIn reads gets you 70% of Crystal's value at zero monthly cost. Crystal buys speed and consistency, not a capability you can't otherwise get.

## Bottom line

Crystal does one thing well: it gives a salesperson a fast, specific read on how to approach a prospect, right inside the LinkedIn workflow where the research already happens. The coaching is useful and the security posture is better than the price suggests.

But it's a coach, not a CRM; the predictions are guesses with no published accuracy; the 20-profile monthly cap pushes a busy seller straight to a custom quote; and for Australian buyers it's USD-only, hosted on AWS with no Australian residency option. **Recommended for a solo closer or small LinkedIn-heavy sales team chasing higher-value deals — start on Free, and only upgrade once you've felt it change how your calls open.** Everyone else can skip it until the basics (a real CRM) are in place.

| --------------------- | --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Value for Money | 3/5 | Useful coaching, but USD-only and the 20-profile cap on Premium forces an early move to a custom Teams quote. |
| Ease of Use | 4/5 | LinkedIn extension + URL-to-profile in seconds; \~10-minute setup, no training needed. |
| Feature Depth | 3/5 | Deep on personality and prep; shallow everywhere else — no CRM, no automation. |
| Australian Fit | 2/5 | No AUD billing, hosted on AWS with no AU residency option (region not stated); insight is geo-neutral but commercials aren't. |
| Reliability & Support | 3/5 | SOC-2 Type II, running since 2015, encrypted on AWS — but support is mostly self-serve docs. |

Update history
- **30 Sep 2026 — re-verified by browser; the sales ladder has collapsed to one self-serve plan.** `crystalknows.com/pricing` on an Australian connection: the sales product is now **Crystal Predictions** — **Premium US$59/mo (US$590/yr), 20 prospect profiles a month**, then **Teams at a custom price** for more volume and a HubSpot connector. **Sales Pro (US$99, 50 profiles) and Sales Max (US$199, 100) are gone.** Free sales access is a trial of three prospect profiles; the free Crystal account covers all six assessments, and the Chrome extension now sits in the separate US$49/mo Premium coaching plan, so the June "10 contacts, 10 lifetime Chrome previews" free tier is no longer on the page. Assessments are sold separately from US$99/mo. Bare `$`, no `A$`. Table, the profile-cap paragraph, the bottom line and the free-plan FAQ (body and schema) rewritten; the Crystal vs Lavender comparison synced. Score unchanged: the Value for Money note already turned on the 20-profile cap, which now leads straight to a quote rather than a published tier. `aud_native: false` set. - **20 Jun 2026** — First reviewed.
- **24 Sep 2026** — **The AUD column was never grossed up for GST, and every word around it said it was.** The header read *“gross-up; GST unconfirmed”* and the note beneath described a 10% uplift — while the figures themselves are plain conversions at 1.4045\. Checked before changing a word: across the 63 files carrying this wording, **141 rows convert at 1.4045 and none at 1.4045 × 1.10**. **No figure changed here; only the description of them did.** Two things were wrong beyond the arithmetic: *gross-up* names a tax uplift and was being used for a currency conversion, and *GST unconfirmed* is stale — our GST rule settled it on 5 September 2026, and a GST-registered Australian business supplying its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. **No USD price moved and no score changed.** `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Crystal available in Australia?

Yes. The product is geography-neutral — DISC reads and communication coaching work the same for a Melbourne prospect as a Manchester one. There's no Australian entity, but nothing about the tool breaks for Australian contacts.

### Does Crystal charge in AUD?

No. Crystal bills in US dollars only, with no AUD pricing and no local billing entity, so your card issuer sets the conversion and you wear foreign-transaction fees. GST treatment isn't stated at checkout — confirm on your card statement.

### Is there a free plan or trial?

Yes. Crystal Predictions gives you your first three prospect profiles free, and a free Crystal account covers all six assessments. The paid sales plan is US$59/mo (\~A$83). Start on Free and only upgrade once you've felt it change how your calls open.

### Is my prospect data stored in Australia?

No. Crystal runs on Amazon Web Services with no named region and no Australian data-residency option. For a tool ingesting your prospects' names and LinkedIn data, that's a Privacy Act consideration — confirm hosting region directly if residency is a hard requirement.

### Is Crystal a CRM?

No. It's a coach, not a system of record — no pipeline, no deal stages, no logging. Keep HubSpot, Pipedrive or similar alongside it.
