> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Aragon AI delivers genuinely convincing professional headshots from a batch of selfies, with enterprise-grade security credentials that make it the most credible option in the AI headshot category. The catch: you're uploading biometric data — your face — to a US company, and Australians have limited recourse under the Privacy Act if something goes wrong. For individuals who need a quick LinkedIn photo upgrade, it works. For HR teams thinking about rolling it out across a company, read the privacy section carefully first.

## What Aragon AI is

Aragon AI is an AI headshot generator built by Aragon AI Inc., a San Francisco startup founded in 2022 by Wesley Tian and Akhil Nadendla. The company has raised funding from Sequoia, Neo, and a clutch of prominent founders.

The pitch is simple: upload a batch of selfies, answer a few questions about your industry and appearance, and Aragon's model generates dozens to hundreds of professional-looking headshots in under an hour. No studio. No photographer. No suit you need to iron.

Aragon positions itself squarely at the corporate and enterprise market — it has SOC 2 Type II certification, offers team plans with SSO and an API, and claims clients among Fortune 500 companies. It is a US company with US-based infrastructure. There is no Australian entity and no Australia-based data processing.

---

## What it costs in Australia

Aragon AI uses **one-time purchase pricing** — you pay per session, not per month. There is no free plan or free trial.

| Plan | USD price | AUD approx (×1.40) | Headshots | Delivery |
| --------- | --------- | ------------------ | --------- | -------- |
| Basic | US$35 | \~A$49 | 40 | \~45 min |
| Standard | US$45 | \~A$63 | 60 | \~30 min |
| Executive | US$75 | \~A$105 | 100 | \~15 min |

*AUD conversions at USD→AUD 1.4045 (ECB reference rate, 18 September 2026). Our AUD figures are conversions shown ex-GST: a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; an unregistered buyer should allow \~10% on top.*

Team plans start at US$35 per person with custom backgrounds and a team dashboard. Enterprise pricing is negotiated directly.

The headshots are a one-time purchase, not a subscription — you pay when you need headshots, not every month. That is a genuine advantage for most individual users who need a headshot refresh once a year. The page shows a greyed-out higher figure beside each price under a "20% off" banner; it is not struck through, and the price you pay is the one above.

Since this review was first written Aragon has also added a monthly **subscription** for its wider AI photo and video editor (Lite US$15, Pro US$29, Ultimate US$49, Creator US$249 a month, roughly A$21 to A$350 ex-GST). You do not need it for headshots.

## How it works in practice

The process takes about ten minutes of your time:

1. **Upload 6–14 photos.** Aragon wants clear, well-lit shots from multiple angles. Sunglasses, hats, and heavy filters are rejected. The platform runs a quality check and tells you which photos to replace.
2. **Answer appearance questions.** Gender, age range, ethnicity, hair colour, eye colour. The AI uses this to calibrate output — skipping it produces worse results.
3. **Choose your industry.** This determines backgrounds and outfit styles (real estate, tech, law, healthcare, and so on).
4. **Wait.** Generation takes from 15 minutes (Executive) to 45 minutes (Basic). You get an email when the gallery is ready.
5. **Download your picks.** You get access to an editing tool that lets you swap backgrounds, adjust eye colour, and upscale resolution.

Output quality is consistently reported as high — facial proportions, skin tone, and lighting are realistic enough to pass on LinkedIn without anyone looking twice. The main failure mode is occasional distortion around eyes, teeth, and hands, which is common across all AI image tools. You get enough headshots per session to find several good ones.

---

## What it does well

**Volume of usable outputs.** At 40–100 headshots per session, even if 20% have minor glitches, you end up with plenty of strong options.

**Realistic professional styling.** Aragon understands what a corporate headshot looks like — the backgrounds, lighting, and attire choices lean professional rather than creative. The output doesn't look like an AI art experiment; it looks like a studio photo.

**Fast turnaround.** The Executive package's 15-minute generation time is faster than booking and attending a real photoshoot.

**Enterprise security credentials.** SOC 2 Type II is a meaningful certification — it means an independent auditor has verified their security controls. AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit. These credentials matter if you are an HR manager thinking about this for a team.

**One-time pricing model.** No subscription lock-in. Pay when you need it.

---

## What it doesn't do well

**No Australian data residency.** Your photos are processed on US servers. If you need data to stay in Australia — and some organisations do — this is a blocker, full stop.

**You cannot remove yourself from training data.** Aragon's privacy policy (as of 26 Jun 2026 — verify at aragon.ai/privacy) does not clearly state whether uploaded photos are used to train future models. This matters for anyone uploading their face.

**Occasional AI artefacts.** Eyes, teeth, and hands can come out distorted. There is no human review of results before delivery.

**No free tier.** You pay before you know whether the results will be good enough. The money-back guarantee mitigates this, but it still requires a purchase upfront.

**USD-only pricing.** The AUD conversion fluctuates. What costs A$54 today may cost A$64 in six months.

**Customer support is email-only.** No live chat, no phone. For enterprise clients paying for team plans, this is thin.

## Australian fit: biometric data and the Privacy Act

This is the section that matters most for Australian users.

When you upload photos of your face to Aragon AI, you are providing **biometric data** — information derived from your physical characteristics that can be used to identify you. Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, biometric data is classified as **sensitive information**, which carries higher protection obligations than ordinary personal data.

**What this means in practice:**

- Aragon AI is a US company. Australia's Privacy Act applies to overseas organisations if they "carry on a business" in Australia and collect personal information from Australians. Whether Aragon meets this threshold is not established — it has no Australian entity and has not published an Australian privacy statement.
- If you have a dispute over your data — say, you want it deleted and Aragon doesn't comply — your recourse is limited. The OAIC can investigate, but enforcement against a US company is slow and uncertain.
- Aragon's stated retention policy is that photos are deleted from active systems 30 days after processing. Backup copies may be retained longer.
- Aragon claims SOC 2 Type II and GDPR alignment, but GDPR is a European framework. It does not confer Australian privacy rights.

**Who owns the output?** Aragon's terms grant you full ownership of generated headshots for personal and commercial use. You own the photos of your face. The company retains no licence over outputs (verify current terms at aragon.ai/terms).

**For individuals:** The privacy risk is real but low for most people. You are sharing photos of your face with a US company, your face will be stored for at least 30 days, and you are relying on a US company's privacy controls. If you are comfortable with that, the product works.

**For HR managers considering team rollouts:** Get legal advice before uploading employee headshots. You are handling sensitive information on behalf of staff members who may not fully understand what they are consenting to.

## Alternatives

- [**HeadshotPro**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-headshotpro-australia-2026/) — Dutch company, explicit 7-day upload deletion policy, comparable quality. Slightly more privacy-transparent for Australians.
- [**Midjourney**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/midjourney-review-australia-2026/) — General-purpose image generation. Can produce headshot-style images but requires significant prompting skill and produces less consistent results for a specific face.
- [**Adobe Firefly**](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/adobe-firefly-review-australia-2026/) — Adobe's generator does not do personalised headshots from uploaded face photos; it is a different use case entirely.

---

## Bottom line

Aragon AI is the most credibly enterprise-ready AI headshot generator available right now. SOC 2 Type II, professional output quality, fast turnaround, and a one-time pricing model that doesn't lock you into a subscription. For a solo professional who needs a headshot refresh and is comfortable with US-hosted data processing, it is a defensible choice at \~A$49–A$105 per session.

The privacy question is the primary blocker for organisations. You are uploading biometric data — faces — to a US company with no Australian data residency, no Australian entity, and no explicit Australian Privacy Act compliance statement. Individuals should go in with eyes open. HR teams should get legal sign-off first.

Score: 15/25 — Good. Would be higher if it had clearer AU data commitments.

Update history
- **30 Sep 2026 — re-verified by browser; prices hold, plans renamed, a subscription line added, one GST-inflated figure removed.** `aragon.ai/pricing` on an Australian connection: the headshot packages are still **$35, $45 and $75** one-off, but are now called **Basic, Standard and Executive** (they were Starter, Basic and Premium), with generation times of 45, 30 and 15 minutes (the review had two hours, one hour and 30 minutes). A grey $44 / $56 / $94 sits beside each price under a "20% off" banner; it is not struck through and is 1.25 times the price, so it is a compare-at anchor, not a list price. New since June: a **Subscription** tab for Aragon's AI photo and video editor — Lite $15, Pro $29, Ultimate $49 and Creator $249 a month (the Annual toggle did not respond, so annual rates were not read). Bare `$`, no `A$`. Table, delivery times, strengths, bottom line and the pricing FAQ (body and schema) updated; the "\~A$49–A$116" range in the bottom line and the Value for Money note was the retired GST gross-up of US$75 and is now \~A$49–A$105\. Directory tile pinned at **A$49 once** (it read A$49/mo). Score unchanged. Capture: `Dossiers/captures/aragon-pricing-2026-09-30.txt`; [Wayback 30 Sep 2026](https://web.archive.org/web/20260929171317/https://www.aragon.ai/pricing).
- **21 Sep 2026** — **The grossed-up AUD column removed from the pricing table.** The table carried a second Australian column adding 10% GST to every converted figure, so each plan had two Australian prices and the higher one asserted a tax most of our readers do not pay: under the ATO rule our GST treatment rests on, a GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is **not charged GST** on an imported digital service. **Nothing was re-cut** — the ex-GST column is unchanged and is the price. Removed, and kept visible here per our price-history rule: the column headed *"AUD if GST charged (+10%)"* (Starter **\~A$54**; Basic **\~A$69**; Premium **\~A$116**). The GST position is now stated in words once, beneath the table, in place of the old “Australian consumers may be liable for 10% GST” note — which was true of consumers and wrong for the GST-registered businesses this publication is written for. No USD price moved and no score changed. `reviewed:` untouched per our dating rule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Aragon AI safe to use for Australians?

Aragon AI has SOC 2 Type II certification and AES-256 encryption, which are strong security credentials. However, it is a US company with US-based servers and no Australian entity. When you upload photos of your face, you are providing biometric data, which is sensitive information under the Australian Privacy Act. Your uploaded photos are deleted within 30 days. Individuals can use it with awareness of these factors; organisations should seek legal advice before rolling it out for employees.

### How much does Aragon AI cost in Australian dollars?

Aragon AI sells headshots as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The Basic package is approximately A$49 (US$35), Standard approximately A$63 (US$45), and Executive approximately A$105 (US$75). Prices are in USD and the AUD conversion will vary with the exchange rate. There is no free plan.

### Does Aragon AI work well for professional headshots?

Yes. Aragon AI consistently produces realistic, professional-looking headshots from a batch of 6–14 selfies. The output quality is good enough for LinkedIn, corporate directories, and business websites. You receive 40–100 headshots per session, so you have plenty to choose from even if some have minor AI artefacts. Turnaround is 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on plan.
