Linear has shipped Code Intelligence. On 14 May 2026 the issue-tracking and project tool added an AI layer that links code changes back to the work that drove them. The notable part is not the feature. It is the footnote.

## What changed

Code Intelligence is now live on Linear's Business plan and above. It connects commits, pull requests and deployments to Linear issues, so the link between a code change and the task behind it is automatic rather than manual.

What sets the launch apart is honesty about the plumbing. Linear's docs state plainly that Code Intelligence is powered by Claude Code, Anthropic's coding model. That makes Linear the first in the workspace-AI set to name its underlying model on its own documentation pages, rather than hiding it behind a generic "AI" badge.

Most vendors keep their model stack vague. Linear chose to print it.

## What it means for Australians

For an Australian buyer, naming the model is more useful than it sounds.

Anyone doing vendor due diligence — and finance, legal and health teams should be — needs to know which third party processes their data. When the model is unnamed, that question stalls at the first hurdle. Linear naming Claude Code lets you go straight to Anthropic's own data-handling and residency terms and assess them. That is a genuine plus.

The feature sits on the Business plan, which Linear prices in US dollars. There is no published AUD price and no GST line, so convert at roughly 1.40 to the dollar and reconcile the tax yourself.

One caution on reliability. Weigh this launch against Linear's own record. The platform had a notable outage earlier this year, and its incident post-mortem is worth reading before you route critical workflow through any new layer it ships. A smart feature does not erase a wobble in uptime.

## Does it change our recommendation

We have not published a scored Linear review yet, so there is no rating to revise. Code Intelligence does sharpen the case for putting Linear through our framework — model transparency is exactly the behaviour we want to reward.

When we score it, the verdict will turn on value in AUD, ease of use, feature depth, and Australian fit, with USD-only billing and reliability the things to watch. See our [methodology](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/) for how we weigh that.

For now: if you run Linear on Business and care where your code data goes, the named-model transparency is a reason to take Code Intelligence seriously. If you don't, wait for the scored review.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is Linear Code Intelligence?

An AI layer launched 14 May 2026 on Linear's Business plan and above. It links code changes back to the work that drove them — connecting commits, pull requests and deployments to Linear issues automatically rather than by hand.

### Why does naming Claude Code matter?

Linear's docs state plainly that the feature is powered by Claude Code, Anthropic's coding model — the first in the workspace-AI set to name its underlying model openly. For Australian buyers doing vendor due diligence, that lets you go straight to Anthropic's data-handling and residency terms.

### Does Linear charge in Australian dollars?

No. Code Intelligence sits on the Business plan, which Linear prices in US dollars. There's no published AUD price and no GST line, so convert at roughly 1.40 to the dollar and reconcile the tax yourself.

### Does it change our recommendation?

There's no scored Linear review to revise. Code Intelligence sharpens the case for scoring it — model transparency is exactly the behaviour we want to reward. Watch USD-only billing and reliability; Linear had a notable outage earlier this year.
