Head-to-head verdict

[**11**/25Seamless.AI](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-seamless-ai-australia-2026/)[**17**/25Apollo.ioWinner](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/apollo-io-review-australia-2026/)

**Our pick: Apollo.io.** The verdict below says who should buy the other.

*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

**Category:** Sales Intelligence / Prospecting · **Compared by:** Adam · **Last reviewed:** 30 June 2026

> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Both tools are US-built B2B contact databases sold to outbound sales teams. Apollo.io is the well-rounded one. It pairs a 230-million-contact database with email sequences, a dialer and an AI assistant, and it has a free tier you can actually work in. Seamless.AI leans on real-time email lookups, but our review flagged data-accuracy gaps on Australian records and a run of billing and cancellation complaints. Apollo scored **17/25 (⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good)**; Seamless scored **11/25 (⭐⭐⭐ Good)**. Neither is AUD-native and neither issues a GST tax invoice. For the typical Australian SMB, **Apollo.io is the clear pick.** Choose Seamless only if you sell hard into the US and want its live-lookup engine.

## The tension

You need a list of decision-makers and a way to reach them. Two names come up: Seamless.AI and Apollo.io. Both are American, both scrape B2B contact data, and both bolt AI on top. On the surface they look interchangeable.

They are not. Apollo tries to be the whole outbound stack in one login — find, contact, track. Seamless bets on one thing: a real-time search engine that finds a work email and direct dial the moment you ask, rather than serving a stale record.

That single-feature bet is the crux. When it works, it feels fast. When the data is thin — as our review found it often is for Australian contacts — you are paying a premium for lookups that come back empty or wrong. Apollo's broader toolset gives you more ways to get value even when the data has gaps.

We have reviewed both in full. This piece sets them side by side for one specific reader: an Australian sales team choosing a contact database. We do not re-score here — the scores below come straight from those reviews.

## What it costs in Australia

Neither tool bills in AUD. Both take an offshore USD charge on your card, and neither issues an Australian GST tax invoice. You wear the currency conversion and handle GST yourself. Figures below are the vendors' published USD rates, converted at roughly 1.40 for context only — not what you are charged.

| | **Apollo.io** | **Seamless.AI** |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Free tier** | Yes — genuinely usable (\~1,200 credits/yr, Chrome extension, 2 sequences) | Yes — 50 lifetime credits (test-only) |
| **Entry paid** | US$49/user/mo annual (≈ AUD$69) | \~US$147/user/mo annual (≈ AUD$206) |
| **Mid tier** | US$79/user/mo annual (≈ AUD$111) — adds US-only dialer | Pro: custom quote, min 5 users (est. AUD$245–465/user/mo) |
| **Top published tier** | US$119/user/mo annual, min 3 users (≈ AUD$167) — international dialer works in AU | Enterprise: custom quote |
| **Billing** | USD only; monthly billing higher than annual | USD only; annual contracts standard, little monthly billing |
| **GST invoice** | No | No |
| **Hidden cost** | Credit overages; per-credit overage rate not published | Add-ons paywalled behind checkmarked features; credit overages |

Two things stand out for an Australian buyer.

First, **the entry price gap is large.** Apollo's first paid tier lands near AUD$69 a seat. Seamless's published Basic plan sits around AUD$206 a seat — roughly three times the cost to get started. Apollo also lets you prove value on a free tier first; Seamless's 50 lifetime credits only let you test data quality, not run a campaign.

Second, **Seamless's real cost is hard to see.** Our review found four headline features — AI Assistant, Data Enrichment, Autopilot and Buyer Intent — display as ticks on the Pro plan but are paywalled add-ons bought separately. That pattern drew heavy user complaints. Apollo has its own trap in credit overages, but its per-seat sticker is lower and its tiers are published, not sales-gated.

*Pricing carried from our full reviews. Apollo tiers verified against Apollo's published pages on 3 June 2026 (Wayback-archived; see Sources). Seamless figures verified against the vendor pricing page on 26 June 2026; Pro/Enterprise are user-reported estimates because Seamless does not publish those rates. Figures are ex-GST: a GST-registered business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers add \~10%. if registered. Rates change — re-confirm in-app before you buy.*

The headline database numbers favour Seamless — 1.3 billion contacts against Apollo's 230 million. Ignore that as a deciding factor. Raw count is a vendor marketing claim, and it tells you nothing about how many of those records are accurate Australian decision-makers. Our Seamless review found local coverage thin and unreliable, and the vendor's own Terms of Use flag the product "may not be suitable for use outside the United States."

Where Apollo pulls ahead is breadth that survives data gaps. If a record is stale, you still have sequences, a dialer, CRM sync and an AI assistant working the rest of your pipeline. Seamless concentrates its value in the lookup itself, so a bad lookup is a wasted credit with less around it to fall back on.

Here is how the two reviews split on the five criteria.

| Criterion | **Apollo.io** | **Seamless.AI** |
| --------------------- | ------------- | --------------- |
| Value for Money | 4/5 | 2/5 |
| Ease of Use | 3/5 | 3/5 |
| Feature Depth | 5/5 | 3/5 |
| Australian Fit | 2/5 | 1/5 |
| Reliability & Support | 3/5 | 2/5 |
| **Total** | **17/25** | **11/25** |

Apollo wins or ties on every line. The two widest gaps — Feature Depth (5 v 3) and Value for Money (4 v 2) — are exactly the two that matter most to a cost-conscious SMB.

## Australian fit

This is where both tools struggle, and where the gap still favours Apollo.

**Data residency.** Neither hosts data in Australia. Both are US-built and US-weighted. Apollo carries SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification, which lifts it off the floor on trust. Our Seamless review found no Australian Privacy Act compliance statement and no Do Not Call Register scrubbing — a real exposure if you dial or email Australian prospects, given ACMA's Spam Act and DNCR obligations sit on the sender, not the vendor.

**Support.** Both are US-time only, with no Australian presence. Apollo offers help-centre and email support backed by strong certifications. Seamless support is chat and email, and cancellation disputes are a recurring complaint in user reviews — a billing risk on top of a data risk.

**GST and billing.** Identical pain on both: USD-only, no Australian tax invoice, no AUD pricing. You reconcile GST yourself either way. Apollo's lower per-seat price at least makes the offshore charge smaller.

**Australian data quality.** The decisive difference. Apollo's data is US-weighted but usable on Australian records with more gaps than US ones. Seamless's own terms warn it may not suit use outside the US, and independent reviews confirm thin Australian coverage. For a team prospecting locally, that is close to disqualifying.

Both score below the Australian Fit gate (Apollo 2/5, Seamless 1/5), so neither can wear five stars or a category Top Pick. That gate is why Apollo tops out at four stars despite deep features. See our [Methodology page](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/) for how the gate works.

## Who buys which

**Choose Apollo.io if** you are a typical Australian SMB running cold outbound to other businesses. It is cheaper to start, has a free tier you can prove value on, bundles the whole find-contact-track workflow, and its data holds up better on Australian records. The USD billing and missing GST invoice are real annoyances — budget for them — but they are the price of the best-value option in this category.

**Choose Seamless.AI if** you sell primarily into the US market and specifically want its real-time lookup engine over a static database. In that lane its live email-and-dial finding has a genuine pull. Trial it hard first, watch the add-on pricing, and read the cancellation terms before you sign an annual contract.

**Skip both if** you just want a tidy, AUD-billed CRM for a small local pipeline. Neither is built for that. Both are outbound machines that bill offshore.

---

## The verdict

For the typical Australian buyer, this is not close.

**Apollo.io wins — 17/25 (⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good) against Seamless.AI's 11/25 (⭐⭐⭐ Good).**

Apollo costs about a third as much to start, gives you a usable free tier, does more jobs in one login, and holds up better on Australian data. Seamless bets everything on a lookup engine that our review found unreliable for local records, then wraps it in opaque, add-on-heavy pricing and a run of billing complaints.

Seamless earns its look only from Australian teams selling into the US. For everyone prospecting locally, Apollo is the tool to trial first.
