Head-to-head verdict

[**19**/25Plus AIWinner](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-plus-ai-australia-2026/)[**18**/25Beautiful.ai](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/review-beautiful-ai-australia-2026/)

**Our pick: Plus AI.** The verdict below says who should buy the other.

*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

> **Verdict (TL;DR):** Both are Very Good. Plus AI (19/25) works *inside* Google Slides and PowerPoint. Beautiful.ai (18/25) is a *standalone* builder that auto-formats every slide. The whole decision is one question: do you want to keep your existing deck tool, or adopt a new one? If your team runs on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, Plus AI is the lower-friction pick. If consistent, on-brand output across a whole team matters more than the tool you already own, Beautiful.ai earns its premium.

> *Both reviewed 7 June 2026 by Adam. Pricing re-verified 30 June 2026.*

Every AI deck tool promises the same thing: type a prompt, get a presentation. The real difference is *where the deck lives afterwards.*

Plus AI and Beautiful.ai answer that differently, and the gap defines the choice. Plus AI is an add-in. It installs inside Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint and adds AI generation to the software you already have. Your deck stays a native Slides or PowerPoint file.

Beautiful.ai is the opposite. It's a standalone app built around an auto-layout engine. Every slide re-balances itself as you add content, so nothing ends up misaligned. You build in Beautiful.ai, then export out.

So the tension is simple. One tool meets you where you already work. The other asks you to move somewhere new — and rewards you with tidier, more consistent output. This piece is for the consultant or founder deciding which trade-off fits their team.

We reviewed both separately. Plus AI scored **19/25 (⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good)**. Beautiful.ai scored **18/25 (⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good)**. Neither reaches five stars, and the reason is the same for both: Australian Fit sits at 3/5\. Neither bills in AUD, and neither offers Australian data residency. Under our [Methodology](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/) gate, a tool needs Australian Fit of at least 4/5 to wear five stars.

## Pricing in Australia

Neither tool bills in Australian dollars. Both charge in US dollars per user, so budget for currency conversion and a possible foreign-transaction fee. AUD figures below convert at roughly **A$1.40 per US$1** (June 2026) and are indicative — your card rate will vary them slightly.

| One-off deck | — | — | US$45 single presentation | \~A$63 |

**Free access.** Neither has a permanent free tier. Plus AI offers a 7-day trial with 1,000 AI credits; a credit card is required to start. Beautiful.ai offers a 14-day trial of Pro or Team; it also requires a card and **auto-charges** if you don't cancel before it ends.

**GST.** Both bill in USD as overseas digital suppliers, so each adds 10% GST at the checkout rather than issuing a native AUD tax invoice. Check the line items at purchase and keep the receipt for your BAS.

The entry-level maths favours Beautiful.ai: its Pro at \~A$16.80/month is cheaper than Plus AI's realistic floor. But that comparison is slightly unfair, because the two entry plans do different jobs. Plus AI's Basic is prompt-only; the feature that makes it worth buying (document upload) lives on Pro at \~A$28/month annual. Beautiful.ai's Pro is a complete individual plan from the start.

At team scale the two converge — both land at \~A$56/user/month at the headline rate, though Plus AI's annual Team plan drops to \~A$42.00/user/month, undercutting Beautiful.ai's Team tier for committed buyers.

## Feature difference

The pricing is close. The products are not. They solve the deck problem from opposite ends.

| **Document-to-deck** | Yes (Pro and up) | Prompt-to-deck; less document-upload focus |
| **Brand control** | Inherits your existing master template | Locked logo/colours/fonts on Team+ |
| **Editing experience** | Whatever Slides/PPT already is | Constrained, self-balancing slides |
| **Flexibility** | As flexible as your host app | Rigid by design |
| **Maturity / credentials** | Newer add-in | In market since 2018; SOC 2 Type II, GDPR |
| **In market** | Plus Docs, Inc. (US) | Beautiful.ai, Inc. (US) |

**Plus AI's advantage is friction.** You install it once and it appears as a panel inside the deck tool you already open every day. Generated slides land inside your existing brand template, in your native file format. There's no export step and no format drift. In testing, a two-page services PDF became a structured six-slide draft inside Google Slides in about 90 seconds, using the existing slide master.

**Beautiful.ai's advantage is consistency.** Its Smart Slides re-arrange themselves in real time — add a bullet and spacing adjusts; add an image and text reflows. You essentially can't build an ugly, misaligned slide. On Team and Enterprise, you lock your logo, colours and fonts once, and every deck the whole team produces inherits them. For a five-person consultancy sending client decks daily, that enforced consistency is worth real money.

The flip sides mirror each other. Plus AI inherits its host's editor — if you find PowerPoint clunky, Plus AI is still PowerPoint underneath. It's an accelerator, not a replacement. Beautiful.ai's auto-layout, meanwhile, fights you when you want something bespoke. The rigidity that guarantees tidiness also boxes in power users who have a specific, non-standard layout in mind.

One more real difference: Beautiful.ai has been in market since 2018 and carries SOC 2 Type II and GDPR certification. For a larger Australian organisation with a procurement checklist, that maturity clears a box the newer add-in doesn't.

## Australian fit

This is where the two tools are, disappointingly, twins. Both scored **3/5** on Australian Fit, and for the same reasons.

**Data residency.** Both process your content on US infrastructure. Neither publishes an Australian data-residency commitment, so assume offshore (US) hosting for the AI step in both cases.

There is one nuance in Plus AI's favour. Because Plus AI outputs a native file, your *finished* deck lives in Google Drive or OneDrive — both of which offer Australian data regions. So Plus AI's storage story can be better than its processing story, depending on your Workspace or 365 setup. Beautiful.ai stores the deck in its own US-based platform, so there's no equivalent local-storage escape hatch.

In Beautiful.ai's favour, its SOC 2 Type II and GDPR credentials speak to security controls the younger add-in doesn't advertise — though neither is an Australian standard.

**GST.** Identical treatment. Both bill in USD shown ex-GST at checkout rather than issuing a native AUD invoice. Keep receipts for your BAS.

**Support.** Both are email-based, US hours, with no Australian phone line. Plus AI reserves priority support for its Max tier; Beautiful.ai for Enterprise.

**AU-aware output.** Neither defaults to Australian spelling or AUD figures. Prompt explicitly for "Australian spelling" and "AUD" or you'll get US defaults from both.

The honest summary: on local fit, this is a draw at 3/5 each. Neither is built for Australia. You choose between them on workflow and output, not on how well they serve Australians — because on that axis, they're level.

## Who buys which

**Buy Plus AI if you want to stay in the tool you already use.** If your business runs on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 — as most Australian small businesses do — Plus AI adds AI deck-building with no migration, no new login, and no IT approval. Your decks already live there, your brand template is already set up, and the AI output lands inside it. The document-to-deck feature on the Pro plan (\~A$28/month annual) is the reason to buy. Choose Plus AI for the consultant or founder whose instinct is *"I just want AI inside the deck tool I already open."*

**Buy Beautiful.ai if consistent, on-brand output across a team matters more than the tool you own.** If you're an agency, consultancy or sales team sending a lot of decks — and every one needs to look on-brand without a designer checking it — Beautiful.ai's auto-layout and Team-tier brand controls deliver exactly that. You'll adopt a new app and learn a new editor, but you get the strongest consistency story in the category and enterprise credentials to match. Choose Beautiful.ai for the founder who values *"every deck we send looks the same and looks right."*

**The winner for the typical Australian buyer: Plus AI.** For the reader we write for — a busy Australian business owner or consultant on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 — Plus AI is the pick, and its one-point edge (19 vs 18) reflects it. The reason is workflow, not raw polish. Plus AI removes the single biggest cost of adopting an AI deck tool: adopting a new tool at all. Beautiful.ai's output may be tidier, but for most AU buyers that gain doesn't outweigh moving their whole deck workflow into a new US app.

Beautiful.ai wins only in a specific case: a team where brand consistency at scale is the whole point, and where a new tool is an acceptable price for it. That's a real buyer — agencies and consultancies especially — but it's the exception, not the default.

If your priority is neither staying put nor team consistency, but AUD billing and an Australian vendor, look instead at [Canva Magic Studio](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/canva-magic-studio-review-australia-2026/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What's the real difference between Plus AI and Beautiful.ai?

Plus AI is an add-in that works inside Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint, so your deck stays a native file and you don't adopt a new app. Beautiful.ai is a standalone builder with an auto-layout engine that keeps every slide tidy and on-brand. Choose Plus AI to stay in your existing tool; choose Beautiful.ai for consistent team output in a new app.

### Which is cheaper in Australia, Plus AI or Beautiful.ai?

At entry level Beautiful.ai is cheaper: Pro is about A$16.80/month billed annually, versus Plus AI's realistic floor of about A$28/month (Pro, annual). At team scale both land around A$56/user/month at the headline rate, though Plus AI's annual Team plan drops to about A$42.00/user/month. Both bill in USD shown ex-GST at checkout.

### Do Plus AI or Beautiful.ai offer Australian data residency?

No. Both process content on US infrastructure and neither publishes an Australian data-residency commitment. Beautiful.ai stores decks in its own US platform.

### Which should the typical Australian buyer choose?

For most Australian buyers on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, Plus AI (19/25) is the pick because it adds AI to the deck tool you already use with no migration. Beautiful.ai (18/25) wins for agencies and consultancies that need consistent, on-brand decks across a team and accept adopting a new app to get it.
