*Pricing figures updated 6 September 2026: USD prices are converted at the current rate (1 USD ≈ 1.40 AUD, verified 5 September 2026) and shown ex-GST, replacing the retired 1.55 + GST basis. A GST-registered Australian business that supplies its ABN is not charged GST on an imported digital service; other buyers should allow \~10% on top (*[*Methodology*](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/)*).*

> **The verdict:** Cassidy AI is one of the more approachable ways for a small business to build AI assistants and agents that actually know your business — your documents, your tools, your tone. The plain-English builder is genuinely fast, the knowledge grounding is solid, and the integration list is long. But it prices in US dollars with no AUD or ABN billing, stores your data on US infrastructure with no Australian region, and the credits meter can surprise you. A strong four-star tool held to four stars by weak Australian fit. Best for an SMB that wants knowledge-grounded assistants without hiring a developer — and is comfortable with data sitting offshore. **Score: 18/25 — ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good.**

## What it is

Cassidy AI is a platform for building **AI assistants and agents grounded in your own business knowledge.** You connect your documents, your apps and your data; Cassidy turns that into assistants your team can chat with, and agents that run tasks on their own.

The pitch is "AI agents that operate like your team." In practice that means three building blocks. A **knowledge base** — you feed it your files, help docs, SOPs and connected apps so every answer is grounded in your actual business, not the open internet. **Assistants** — chat tools your staff use day-to-day, pre-loaded with that knowledge. And **agents and workflows** — automations that take an instruction, use connected tools, and complete a multi-step job.

It was founded in 2023 by Justin Fineberg and Ian Woodfill, and is US-based (Colorado and New York). The company raised a US$3.7 million seed round. That US base matters for this publication, and we'll come back to it.

The headline difference from a generic chatbot is the grounding. Cassidy is built so an assistant answers from *your* knowledge — last quarter's pricing sheet, your refund policy, your onboarding playbook — rather than guessing. For a small business drowning in "where's that document" questions, that's the core appeal.

That puts it squarely in **AI Automation & Integration**, and earns it the **AI Agents** tag: it connects your systems and does work across them, rather than being a tool you just sit and chat with.

## What it costs in Australia (AUD + GST)

Here's the first catch for Australians: **Cassidy prices in US dollars.** There's no AUD billing toggle and no mention of ABN invoicing on the public plans. So every figure below carries currency risk and a conversion.

We use US$1 ≈ A$1.40\. International digital services bought for business use generally fall under Australia's GST rules, so we show figures ex-GST — a GST-registered business quoting its ABN is not charged GST on an imported service; other buyers add \~10%.40 × 1.10).

| Plan | Price (USD) | Approx A$/mo ex-GST | What you get |
| -------------- | ------------------ | ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Free trial** | US$0 (14 days) | A$0 | 3,000 credits, core integrations, no credit card required |
| **Starter** | US$79/mo | \~A$111/mo | 10,000 credits/mo, 3 seats, 30,000 knowledge pages, unlimited assistants & workflows, core integrations |
| **Business** | Custom (demo only) | Quote only | Custom seats/credits, all features, premium onboarding, custom support |
| **Enterprise** | Custom (demo only) | Quote only | Custom everything, SSO, advanced permissions, dedicated AI implementation expert, custom integrations |

The Starter plan at US$79/mo lands around **A$111/mo ex-GST** at our conversion. The trial gives you 3,000 credits over two weeks with no card — a fair way to test it before committing. Treat the AUD figure as an estimate, not a quote: Cassidy bills in US dollars and publishes no AUD price, so the exact amount you're charged and the GST handling at checkout will depend on the day's exchange rate and your ABN status. Confirm both on your first invoice.

A note on the meter. Cassidy runs on **credits** — a "universal currency" that depletes as your assistants and agents work. Per Cassidy's own explainer, premium-tier AI models burn roughly 5× the credits of standard models, larger inputs cost more, and knowledge-base retrieval is resource-intensive. Typical consumption runs 1–30 credits for an assistant chat and 1–100 credits for a workflow. Some actions — web scraping, internet search, certain integrations — don't consume credits at all. You can top up at any time, though **Cassidy does not publish a per-credit top-up price** — its own credits explainer says to "reach out to our team" for a one-time boost or plan adjustment rather than quoting a rate, so the cost of more credits sits behind a sales conversation.

The practical warning: 10,000 credits a month sounds generous until a few staff lean on premium-model agents running real workflows. A single complex workflow can cost up to 100 credits a run. Budget for the top-up, and watch the model tier — defaulting everything to a premium model is the fastest way to a surprise.

The honest GST line: GST treatment on US-billed SaaS depends on whether you're registered and have supplied your ABN. Confirm with your accountant — the figures above assume the GST-inclusive landed cost for a typical small business.

## How it works / features (be specific)

Cassidy is built around four things.

**Knowledge base.** The foundation. You upload files or connect apps — Slack, Notion, SharePoint, Google Drive and more — and Cassidy indexes them so assistants answer from your real material. The Starter plan covers 30,000 knowledge pages, which is a lot of documentation for a small business. This grounding is the bit that separates Cassidy from a stock chatbot.

**Assistants.** Chat tools your team uses directly, pre-loaded with the knowledge base and a defined role. A new staffer asks the onboarding assistant "how do I submit a leave request" and gets the answer from your actual HR policy, not a hallucination.

**Agents.** The autonomous layer. You describe an agent's job in plain English — what it does, who it helps — then connect knowledge, set guidelines and add tools. Cassidy's **Agent Copilot** (added in a March 2026 update) works alongside you to refine prompts and structure, so a non-technical user can build a working agent without writing rules by hand.

**Workflows.** Multi-step automations that chain actions across your connected apps — read an inbound email, classify it, draft a reply, log it. This is where Cassidy does work rather than just answering.

A concrete example. A Melbourne accounting firm could build a knowledge base from its engagement templates and ATO guidance notes, stand up a client-facing assistant that answers routine "what do I need to bring" questions in the firm's tone, and run a workflow that triages inbound enquiry emails and drafts first-response replies. Set up once, runs continuously. On a well-scoped task, it largely delivers.

The integration list is a genuine strength. A March 2026 update added an enterprise MCP integration plus new connectors for Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Asana, monday and Airtable — on top of the existing Slack, Notion and SharePoint links. For a business already living in those tools, the plumbing is mostly done.

## What it does well

**The knowledge grounding is the real draw.** Plenty of tools let you chat to an AI. Cassidy's whole design is answering from *your* business material, and it does that cleanly. For a firm where the same questions get asked a hundred times a week, that's immediately useful.

**It's genuinely approachable.** The plain-English agent builder and the Agent Copilot mean a non-technical operator can stand up a working assistant in an afternoon, not a fortnight. This is the feature that makes the platform usable for the audience it targets — small and mid-size teams without a developer.

**The integration coverage is broad and current.** Slack, Notion, SharePoint, Google Workspace, Asana, monday, Airtable, plus MCP for the rest. The March 2026 additions show active development, not a tool coasting.

**Security posture is solid for the tier.** SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and CASA, with TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest, and a clear statement that customer data is never used to train AI models. For a tool aimed at SMBs handling client information, that's reassuring.

## Where it falls short

No tool is faultless, and here are the real ones.

**Your data sits in the US, with no Australian region.** Cassidy stores knowledge-base data, chats and related information in an encrypted database on AWS — but we could find **no Australian (Sydney) data-residency option** on its primary pages, and no regional choice at signup. For an Australian business handling client or customer data with onshore expectations, that's the single biggest issue, and it caps the local fit. Cassidy does not publish a specific AWS region or any Australian residency choice on its public pages, so treat the absence as the working assumption and confirm directly with Cassidy before you store regulated data.

**The credits meter is hard to forecast.** Credits are an honest abstraction, but they make your monthly bill genuinely difficult to predict — premium models cost 5× standard, retrieval is heavy, and the top-up price isn't published. A workflow that's cheap in testing can get expensive in production, and you find out after the fact.

**It's USD-first with no AUD or ABN billing.** For an Australian buyer that means currency risk, conversion friction, and a GST line you'll need your accountant to sort. There's no local invoicing path on the public plans.

**Real pricing lives behind a demo.** Only the Starter plan carries a public price. Business and Enterprise are "book a demo," so a growing SMB can't budget the next tier without a sales call. That opacity is a mark against value clarity.

## Australian fit

This is where Cassidy loses most of its points.

**Is it Australian-built?** No. Founded in 2023, US-based (Colorado and New York). That's not a fault on its own — most tools in this category are American — but it sets the baseline.

**Data residency.** This is the problem. Data sits on AWS, encrypted, but Cassidy publishes **no Australian region and no residency choice** on its own pages. For a business that needs customer data onshore, that's a genuine blocker, not a quibble. Compare this with a Sydney-hosted rival and the gap is stark — and if onshore residency is a hard requirement, ask Cassidy in writing before you commit.

**AUD billing.** No. Plans are quoted and charged in US dollars, with no ABN invoicing path visible. Currency risk and GST friction come with the territory.

**Compliance.** Better news here: SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and CASA are all confirmed. That's a credible posture — it just doesn't solve the residency question for an Australian buyer.

**AU support.** A US head office means support most likely runs on US hours, which can mean overnight waits from Australia. Cassidy publishes no Australian support hours or local SLA, so if response time in your timezone matters, get it confirmed before you rely on it.

Net: Australian fit is weak. The compliance certifications help, but USD-only billing and — more importantly — the absence of any Australian data-residency option pull this down to a 2\. That triggers the Australian Fit gate, which we explain below.

| --------------------- | ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Value for Money | 4 / 5 | US$79/mo Starter is fair for what it does; the unpredictable credits meter and demo-gated upper tiers cost it a point. |
| Ease of Use | 5 / 5 | Plain-English builder, Agent Copilot, broad pre-built integrations. Genuinely fast for a non-technical operator. |
| Feature Depth | 4 / 5 | Strong knowledge grounding, assistants, agents, workflows, MCP. Solid, if not the deepest multi-agent orchestration in the category. |

| Reliability & Support | 3 / 5 | SOC 2 Type II and enterprise compliance are reassuring; small, young vendor and US-hours support temper it. |

Australian Fit is 2/5, so the **Australian Fit gate applies**: a tool that doesn't serve Australians well cannot wear five stars and cannot be a category Top Pick, regardless of its raw total. The 18-point total lands it in the four-star band anyway — but even a higher score would have been capped at four stars by the weak local fit. ([How we score](https://www.theaidirectory.com.au/methodology/).)

This is a Finance/HR-adjacent tool in practice — firms will point it at policy, client and compliance material. To be clear: Cassidy is a knowledge and automation tool, **not a substitute for qualified professional advice.** Anything it drafts on tax, legal, HR or financial matters should be checked by a qualified professional before you act on it.

## Watch out for

- **Offshore data.** No Australian region we could confirm. If client data must stay onshore, this is likely a dealbreaker — verify with Cassidy directly before you commit.
- **The credits meter.** Premium models burn 5× the credits. Watch your model tier and budget for top-ups; the top-up price isn't public.
- **USD billing and GST.** No AUD or ABN path. Get your accountant across the GST treatment before you subscribe.
- **Demo-gated pricing.** Only Starter has a public price. You can't budget Business or Enterprise without a sales call.
- **Young vendor.** Founded 2023, US$3.7M raised. Capable, but not a decade-deep incumbent — weigh that for mission-critical use.

## Verdict

**For the small business that wants knowledge-grounded assistants without hiring a developer** — Cassidy is one of the easier on-ramps you'll find. The plain-English builder, the Agent Copilot and the broad integration list make it genuinely usable for a non-technical team. Start on the free trial, scope one assistant tightly, and watch the credits.

**For the Australian business with onshore data obligations** — pause. There's no Australian data region we could verify, billing is USD-only, and support runs on US hours. The SOC 2/GDPR/HIPAA/CASA posture is good, but it doesn't put your data in Sydney. If residency matters, look at a locally hosted alternative first.

**For the firm in a regulated space — finance, legal, HR** — Cassidy can save real time on knowledge retrieval and first-draft work, but treat every output as a draft for a qualified professional to check, and resolve the data-residency question before you load anything sensitive.

The verdict stands: a capable, approachable four-star tool, held to four stars by weak Australian fit — USD-only billing and no onshore data option. Excellent for ease of use; not yet built for Australians who need their data to stay home.

Update history
- **21 Sep 2026** — *Currency re-checked — and Cassidy has taken its prices down.* Read in an Australian browser: `cassidyai.com/pricing` now shows only a **Starter plan (free, 3 seats, 10,000 AI credits)** and a **Business plan with custom seats, credits and storage** — no figures, no currency symbol, nothing to check a currency claim against. The USD figures in this review's pricing table are from the published tiers that existed when it was written and **can no longer be verified against the vendor**. Flagged for a pricing rebuild; the USD-only claim itself is not contradicted by anything, but it is no longer supported either. Wayback capture pending (archive.org unavailable 21 Sep 2026).
